Lovely presentation and excellent service. Special thanks to Ali for making our visit a one to remember. Definitely a place I will be visiting again! Their homemade kulfi was a special treat - highly recommend!

A fabulous set vegetarian banquet meal, good value and big portions. They even offered to top up if we needed more. Staff were skilled front of house. Impressed!

This place has sat on the Robin Hood Island for years. Living a mile in Solihull, we approach this roundabout out pretty much every day and see it in our sites as we head down Solihull Rd. Yet all this time it never appealed to us and never visited. Mainly because from the outside it looks dull and boring and secondly it's sat on an island, so it seems awkward to access. Anyway, we were really impressed. I was supposed to be my wife and I, but my mum decided to join. You know how fussy Indian mum's are with food...and whilst she didn't enjoy everything we ordered she was pleasantly surprised and liked most. We really enjoyed the food. Especially the south Indian specialities such as plain Dosa, uttapam, Mysore Dosa, and masala Dosa. We did a tapas type of meal, with garlic prawns, gobi Manchurian, and paneer tikka. 7 starters! We ordered a dum chicken biryani which was authentically served. We go lt a complimentary kulfi which was extra thick and creamy. Very different. The waiter explained it's home made. Oh and the meat was halal. They also serve a wide range of spirits and beers. Nothing on tap, all bottles. It was very reasonable and had a 10% service charged already added, but we didn't mind paying that as the service was very good. Overall a very good experience. Very busy and the service was excellent. So it had to be 5 stars.

It’s very expensive.. which is not even worth it. Kerala parota seemed to be frozen one it wasn’t handmade.. Thought it was kerala restaurant so expected to have beef but there was no beef. In Chicken curry the pieces didn’t have any taste looked like the gravy was added later. Service atmosphere was great.

I would recommend if you assume it as a South Indian Keralite food then it's not at all like that. I heard of it and went there. They do not serve beef and the fish curry also didn't taste like Kerala style.

A totally unexpectedly great experience. Saw some good reviews, so decided to book it for my 65th birthday meal and was delighted. Quality furniture and summer evening light streaming in through the windows made for a great ambience. My wife, who has dined her way through many a Bradford curry house, declared the food to be the best she has ever had. The meat mixed platter was superb and makes it tempting just to visit for that alone. Main courses v tasty, even if I don't like my wife's sweet coconut palate. The railway lamb curry just bought me a little closer to all those Indian railway travellers. Above all, in terms of taste, the delicate and flavoursome Goan spices were a joy. Savio, the manager was impressive and attentive. Enough said, we will be back - and maybe again on a Monday night, when the service is so good. ‐------------ 13 April 2024 Returned for a meal with my wife and a cousin. Stuck to the south Indian part of the menu, and I can say it was one of the best Indian meals I have had in a couple of decades. Superb service off Ali and his staff, and a bill that seems very reasonable all helps make an unforgettably happy evening.

Excellent restaurant in Hall Green. High quality classy Indian food, tailored to your taste buds. Healthy, hygienic, hearty, delicious 😋, value for your money. This is the top level restaurant in this area with a great customer friendly staff who makes you feel at home. Keep it up!!!!!

I ordered a masala dosa, it is not at all tasty and only the potatos put in large amount and a very thin layer of dosa.it is very less quantity.Not satisfied at all

Horrible small portions won't go back

Really poor service - we had to wait 2 hours to get our food. The dosas were pretty bland and the sambar tasted more like dal than anything even remotely related to real sambar. Would not recommend.

Staff were really nice and attentive. Service was speedy and food was good (if a tiny bit pricey compared to some places). Would go again, was nice a spacious inside,so you didn't feel like you were sitting with another table like you can in some restaurants!

Food good but usually it's brilliant, hence the marking. Lamb slightly tough, but usually melts in your mouth. Still a great place to eat out.

As a kerala native, I had high hopes for authentic flavours at this restaurant. Unfortunately, the food fell short. Bland taste, steep prices and a far cry from genuine Kerala cuisine. Disappointing to say the least.

Excellent food and service, I use them regularly for takeaways, plus have dined in with friends and family on multiple visits. My team at work also wanted a group meal one evening (~20 people) which they accommodated really well and which they gave glowing feedback on, hence this review! (Also the large range of vegetarian options helped accommodate the group’s dining preferences, plus the specials for my colleagues who were actually visiting from that region in India!)

Lovely food , Great ambience and very friendly service

First and foremost I would like to thank the alleppey boat team for taking our order which was placed late. Nice ambience and generous staff. They were kind enough to accept our late order in phone.Only turn off was that the food served was nowhere related to Kerala or alleppey. So I would say if you are looking for authentic Kerala or alleppey food, then I would say this is not the place for you as I am from there. Had porotta, chicken items , masala dosa and coffee. Masala dosa was good. Chicken starters were too good like Lollipop and Chicken 65. They were kind enough not to charge for the starters. Chicken curry was not up to it as we expected. Was bit expensive. Overall it was a fair experience.

Chicken biriyani was superb. Fish molly and vindaloo just taste average . Ambience and service was very good

Lovely restaurant!! Dine here every week and can't rate it highly enough. Food is spot on every time and the all staff are are exeptionally friendly and welcoming. Ali and Bas really look after us and accomodate any special requirements we might have. They go above and beyond to make every visit a very enjoyable experience. Top marks!!

Spectacularly good fish curries, particularly Goan. Impeccable service and nice atmosphere. Definitely worth visiting to dine in or takeaway.

If you are think of kerala food please avoid this place. It is not a good place if you are thinking of our state food. At least they have to change the name.

We ordered a takeaway meal for three, received a phone call back after 20 minutes saying they were running a bit behind with a lot of orders so may not hit the delivery time stated by just a few minutes. Told them "no bother, thanks for the call," then they arrived almost bang on the original time with extras to our order, at no cost, and a really nice delivery driver. We've been to the restaurant several times because the food is really good, but now we can also recommend the takeaway service.

Food was ok, we ordered alleppey curry which sounded like a Kerala dish but was not even close to the Kerala style along side we did order biryani, fish and sambhar( couldn't find any veggies in it, seemed more of a dal curry) and the quantity was too less. But ambience, service and environmental hygiene was good.

Food was poor quality and looked particularly unappetising. King platter did not appear fresh to me at all - reheated old stuff with poor texture. Ordered pilau rice but got jeera rice. Vartharchu Kozi was not as it should be - watery and no detectable coconut base at all with an odd fruity flavour. Probably serves me right for ordering a take away on a Monday. Railway curry was acceptable but not impressed. Both dishes were over the top with curry leaves probably to mask the lack of overall flavour. Order included a bottle of diet pepsi as a consolation prize for the poor food. Went here as Raja Monkey is closed on Mondays. Go elsewhere. Always fancied trying a sit down in the place. Take away has decided that as a no!

Had a takeaway on Friday evening, the amount of meat was disappointing 5 little pieces.

Fabulous visit on 11th November. Great food and we were very well looked after. Will definitely be visiting again soon!

I walked in for a take away. Service is very good. I ordered daal makhani, paneer butter masala and a paneer starter. Along with that was a tandoori roti and two flavoured naans. The breads were not great. The roti was really thick and undercooked. The curries were average, the daal makhani is not as good as before. Disappointed at the quality of food - it's a shame as service is second to none.

This restaurant has had a lovely makeover which has warmed it up alot. Food was excellent. Trio of Fish and Shish kebab,starters were on point. Mains,Biriani, Railway Station Lamb,spot on on a winter's evening!

Food made for the taste buds of a white man.As their cuisine is my own culturally.I expect atleast a basic type of standard.The food was bland and they served Alcohol.In a family type restaurant that serves halal food.Alcohol has no place in such environments. Personally, I will not be going back there again and definitely do not recommend food that's overall priced and not even average. Sorry, but Im just being honest. 26th of October is the date,We came as large group of 12.Your staff merged 3 tables together for us.

We came from Liverpool and was not sure about the Restaurant,but It was worthy. Fish Molly was my personal favorite. All the staffs were friendly and helpful.

Yet another mediocre British restaurant... Looking at the name I thought I was going to a South Indian restaurant, but it turned out to be nothing more than an overpriced takeaway quality food .. I would not recommend this place

The foods fine, staff are polite and atmosphere is nothing special. But where Alleppy Boat goes further to provide alterations to their set Currys to cater for vegans and provide a detailed menu showing what meals and sides contains what allergies, which personally I found extremely helpful.

Great food and full flavour with right spicy level, I'm biryani was too good. Desserts are great too.

Wow. What a restaurant. Super friendly, great atmosphere, and most importantly great food. The prices are so reasonable compared to many other restaurant. Well worth the money. Don't hesitate, book it!

First time trying this restaurant we all found it really good the service was excellent and the food was delicious would definitely recommend for anyone who hasn't been.

Excellent customer service. Nice decor and ambient. We went for doosa . Also tried daal makhni which was very delicious with one of the best plain naans . Both were very delicious and freshly cooked. Price was reasonable. Highly recommended.

At first, just from the name of the restaurant, please don’t confuse this as a restaurant which serves typical ‘Kerala’ dishes but rather, offers Indian foods, including few South Indian dishes too. Now, let’s get to food. What I had ordered was a ‘Varutharacha Kozhi Curry’ which was one of their special’s but for me, it turned out to be the worst and I have never ever tasted anything like that in my entire life. As a person hailing from Alleppey, I’m afraid that I can’t call/ refer it as a ‘Varutharacha Kozhi Curry’ because it doesn’t taste the ‘Original’, not even a bit. I’m sorry but I have to say this. To the management, If you really have a genuine intention of serving typical Kerala non-veg dishes, like the ones’ you’ve listed in the menu, you should definitely rework and dig deeper to find the right blend and mix of spices, just like the way it’s prepared back in Kerala.

The experience was amazing. Service is quick and outstanding. Food is delicious and the atmosphere is very modern blend with cultural. Had a great experience.

It was a really good place I have ordered South Indian food and even North Indian food and the taste was so good I recommend you to have Rasmalai of this place it was so good . Highly recommended place must visit.

I ate in this restaurant with my wife and son whilst staying at the nearby premier inn last week. The food was superb, I had a Madras which was delicious, my wife a byrianni, and my son a Tikks masala, it was all very tasty, naan breads and onion bhajis also delicious. The service was very friendly and efficient and we all would highly recommend it.

Attended a birthday celebration buffet 1. Lovely flavoured food and plenty of good choice 2. Staff very attentive and polite 3. Great atmosphere and much better than previous visit 4. My only issue was… if you are serving daal (lentils) on the buffet…. Please provide small bowls to serve in!!

The food is pathetic. Biriyani is made of boiled chicken and boiled prawns mixed with some rice. Chutney and chicken is one day old. Nothing south indian.

We had such a nice evening here for our date night. The staff are incredibly friendly and patient, I just wish I could give more than 5 stars, the service is exceptional. We had a window table and it was surprisingly tranquil considering the busy road, but the view out on the trees on the roundabout was super nice. I had dosa for starter. I usually don't like dosa, but thought I'd give it one last try before writing it off completely. And wow! I loved it! Was so yummy so I will be back for that again for sure. We had paneer madras main which was perfect amount of spice - not too much that my insides were on fire, but not too little that my Indian taste buds were bored! The raitha and naan were also yummy. Definitely will come back. Never been to a place with such attentive staff :) 5*

Alappuzha is a beautiful city in Kerala, India, known for its backwaters and lush green scenery. It is also home to some of the most delicious food in the country. From here i eat foods that are somehow the same as the taste, I'm also from Alappy so i can easily connect with that.

This has become our go-to Indian restaurant. The food is always delicious, the service faultless and the prices reasonable. Clean, comfortable and an all round great place!

Really beautiful restaurant, well laid out, super friendly attentive staff and a really good menu. I would of given 5 stars but the dish I chose was a bit spicier than I'd of expected. A good selection of wonderful Indian desserts. Definitely worth a return visit.

Finally found a place that can make delicious SOUTH Indian food and has a great ambience! Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Expected more for a place that's supposed to have won awards - 4or5 pieces of meat for that price? We chose dishes with 2 chilli rating and it wasn't hot at all. Disappointed 😞

Everything about this place is above 5 stars! All this time my husband and I were ordering through Uber Eats but today we decided to visit the restaurant. Firstly they actually welcome you which most places don't do! The service is incredible, the place is clean, well maintained and the food is delicious. Portion sizes are also very generous. This is officially one of my favourite restaurants. Hope to visit again soon!

I ordered food for my iftar today and they did not disappoint. First time trying this place and I will surely come again. The lamb biryani was soft and succulent, the peshwari naan was divine the coconut in there was just right. Time to tuck into the the gajar halwa!

Good food and great service with a smile. Went for mothers day treat with my mum she really enjoyed the experience. Staff were super accommodating and attentive. Look forward to returning.

Very good and I would definitely recommend but not quite as good as The Shapla

A place we’ve visited umpteen times and will go again. Delicious food in general. Parottas are crispy most of the times. Though the curries under the Keralan tag aren’t great, there’s little to complain. Among the desserts Rose Kulfi is my favourite. Service is commendable. We often get space for parking as well. Clean. Decent toilets. Overall we love this place.

Food was OK. Maybe we should have ordered South Indian dishes to experience authentic taste.

Went here last week on friday night. Service was really good- attentive staff, kept checking if we were ok every now and then during busy hours. Food was really good, catered for our spicy pallette. Loved the mysore dosa, dalmakhni and medu vada.

Food is great and the staff there are extremely good to share information about food and recommendations. Will definitely recommend even if you are not familiar with Indian food like me. Definitely will visit again.

It's ice cream was brilliant. We ended up ordering it thrice.

The food was AMAZING! Staff and owners were very kind. Was on holiday with my family and we went back two weekends in a row because we were CRAVING the chicken chettinad and kerela paratha. Ended the meal with the most authentic kulfi.

First time dinning, food amazing, service brilliant

Good food, havent had many of them to compare but the dosa was good and fresh, the mains were good too. No complaints from me on the quality of the food, the only issue was i ordered a Lamb pepper chettinad but they gave me a chicken one, which is fine, just a mistake. Id give it a 4.5 star review if i could but i can't, an 4 seems slightly harsh for a simple mistake. Reasonably priced at around 60 quid for 2 of us, having drinks,starters, mains and desserts. Will be returning

The ambience was good. They were playing nonstop hit hindi songs which was giving homely feeling. The service is also nice. If you prefer to eat spicy Indian dishes you will have to specify it very clearly else the curries will be sweet flavoured. We had Dal makhani, paneer makhani, flavoured Naans.. Naans were too good. Curries weren't giving taste of Indian curries, those were okay. They will have to work on the Curry recipes depending on the customer (preferring Indian here). Finally, we had gulab jamun with ice cream in desert, it gave the joyride of sweetness. For the whole time I was at the restaurant, almost forgot that I'm in UK, may be due to ambience and hindi songs...

It's a bit of a Tardis, small outside and it doesn't reflect what's inside. We called ahead and reserved a table for 10. Good attentive service. Exquisite food. Used by Indian people for special occasions. I was expecting a larger bill. I'll be back.

Had a wonderful meal at Alleppey Boat. A warm welcome greeted us on arrival. All the staff were very friendly right through the evening. Service was very good. The food was very tasty. Well worth the money. Would recommend a visit.

The staff are great, the place is clean. We were looked after very well, no complaints there at all. The food though was not great, nothing to shout out about if I have to rate the mains I would give it 1 star unfortunately.

The staff were nice and efficient. The restaurant was clean but the food was bland. Also, the portions of butter chicken were quite small. Drinks were a let down - few options. Considering the similar price range, personally I prefer Tamatanga or Indico.

Authentic and tasty Indian food😊👍 Achaari Paneer Tikka was awesome! Good mix of north and South Indian cuisine, highly recommended! Not to forget, it was accompanied by excellent service with attention to details 😊👍

Fantastic! Absolutely delicious food, really friendly and attentive staff. Would highly recommend. We went as a family of four incl. two young kids. Lovely atmosphere for an early evening meal. If we were local, would definitely become a regular haunt. Edited: forgot to say, best Bombay Potato I've ever eaten!!

Just eaten here as a visitor to the area it was recommended to me by the hotel receptionist and what a fantastic choice the food and service was second to none and a a regular curry eater (at least once a week) I was shocked that they were able to offer new dishes to me that were so tasty and aromatic that I didn't want to leave. Well done to the owners and I will definitely be coming back when on the area.

This is probably the best Indian I've ever had! Great portions, delicious flavour and such happy and helpful staff. Highly reccomended

Friday night catch up with friends. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We sat down and the AC was above us hitting our face they turned it down when asked. We were given poppadoms with three different dips with drinks. A huge variety of vegetarian food and for meat lovers. We mainly ordered the vegetarian. Starters was onion bhaji, chilli paneer and something else which I can't remember. They all tasted authentic and were yummy. Wait wasn't too long. We ordered our mains a variety of vegetarian and chicken. I enjoyed all the vegetarian of saagwala, tarka dhal, manchuria vegetables, rice, butter chicken, paranthas, garlic naan and butter naan. We were checked upon regularly to remove dirty dishes, top up on drinks etc....Recommendations of food was on point for us. Enjoyed every bite! Yes we had deserts of gulab jamun with ice cream and gajar ka halwa all were yummy. No complaints, night was fab, little food we did leave we packed and took away, think it was just chicken. This was my second visit had been pre covid. If you want a night out to enjoy good food check them out you won't be disappointed.

Never eaten in the restaurant but had many takeaways and honestly the food is great! Reasonably priced and always really delicious so would definitely recommend it highly.
