Amore in Melton

Only been in UK for a short time, and struggled to find good restaurant in area I staying. Found Amore by chance. What a find. Food was superb. Will be going back again..

First time at Amores, but won’t be the last. Enjoyed a superb meal, all courses excellent and very reasonable prices. A real gem of a restaurant.

What a shame the good reviews were not our experience. The chef, I’m not sure they have heard of seasoning as none of the 6 meals seemed to have flavour, very very bland with some parsley sprinkled around the edge of the plate, Hello 2001. The manager (I assume) very rude, abrupt, clearly didn’t want us there, not even a thank you once the bill was paid. To say the experience was a disappointment is an understatement. Safe to say we won’t be returning.

Rude service, terrible food. We did not feel welcome and the food was underwhelming.

We have lived in Italy for many years and struggle to find authentic food. We decided to try this restaurant out last minute. The food was delicious especially the 3 different pasta dishes we ordered. Side vegetables were also cooked very well. The bruschetta was not very authentic but it was still tasty. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and very nice environment.

Visited on a Friday night. The restaurant was fairly quiet. Tastefully decorated with a peaceful atmosphere. Service was prompt and courteous throughout the meal. Can recommend all the dishes we had; brie and goats cheese starters, straccette and linguine piccanti (it is very spicy but lovely). Will definitely visit again.

Had a meal with my wife and two friends. Wife is veggy and was impressed with the choices. She asked for a bespoke meal, which wasn't a problem at all, and she said it was one of the best meals she's had. I opted for the brie wrapped in parma ham starter, and lamb shank main. Both courses were full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Mind was blown how good it tasted. Great service and venue, thanks for a top night La ringrazio molto

Cannot fault it, in fact the dolcellate fillet steak was probably one of the best I've ever had, cooked to perfection at medium rare. Attentive service but not overbearing, first visit and we'll definitely return.

Wonderful place. Had a meal for my daughter's 18th birthday. Food was excellent, service excellent, very professional. Lovely atmosphere. Loved the furnishings and table decor. Can't fault the whole experience.

We shared a bruschettone to start which was excellent. For main I had the straccette, the sauce of which was fantastic unfortunately the beef fillet in it wasn't as tender as I would have expected , better half had sea bass branzino alla meditteranea which she thoroughly enjoyed, the accompanying vegetables were well cooked and presented. We had profiteroles and chocolate fudge cake for dessert, both of which were good, finished with coffee and tea. Superb service, always attentive never intrusive. Overall quality at under £80. We will be back.

A really nice place, booked but didn't need to. Service was attentive without being over-powering, just as it should be. Food choices were excellent. Will definitely return.

For a place that was turning people away the food was very disappointing. Pollo ai funghi tasted like a ready meal, roast potatoes were like under cooked Aunt Bessie's, and the lasagna just tasted odd with minimal meat and no bechamel sauce. Didn't bother trying dessert after such a let down.

The lobster ravioli was very tasty, however the vegetable lasagna had very little veg in it mostly pasta, and the normal lasagne arrived completely cold, considering the cost I am very disappointed

A nice restaurant, good service, and food was tasty, I had lobster ravioli of the specials menu, the ravioli was cooked well the pasta was soft and you could taste the filling.

Not the best but by no means the worst place I've eaten at. We had the scallops to start which although cooked were watery. I asked for a bottle of water for the table but that never arrived. The mains were steak and overcooked on one side. I was going to return them but as we'd had a long journey my OH pleaded for peace and won the day. The sauce that came with the steak was lovely. Overall the service would need to improve drastically for us to go back.

It was my first visit to "Amore" restaurant. An absolutely wonderful meal and service for my birthday. Thank you xx

We were delighted to book a table on the first day of opening fully after the last lockdown having missed this gem of a restaurant very much indeed!We were greeted with a genuine “Welcome back”...although I think we were just as happy to see them as they were us...indeed our tummies most definitely were!The food at Amore is absolutely delicious; the ambience is spot on; the staff are friendly, polite, attentive but not intrusive and the service is well...faultlessWe always choose the spicy toast as a starter (I think it’s on the “Sides” section) which is superb. Fiery hot and moreishly tasty. In fact it’s so yummy we ordered one to share on Monday...not wishing to spoil our appetite for our main meal, and then promptly ordered another plate! Too good for wordsWe’ve eaten many dishes off Amore’s inviting and varied menu...all are excellent! Authentic and so flavourful Refreshingly our steaks are ALWAYS cooked to perfection...just as requested, with the only issue being deciding which of the delicious options to choose...every sauce is just divineAdmittedly we’re usually too happily stuffed to have a dessert, but their divine Tiramisu is so light and delicious it’s perfect to finish off a scrumptious mealWhether for a celebration or just a well-deserved (...and long overdue) meal out...for a small get-together or couples alike, we cannot recommend Amore highly enough...my only reservation is - if you all book, we might not get a table next time!PS: A quick “heads up”...Amore are opening a restaurant in Stamford...think a day trip for a wander, some window-shopping and to say “Hi” at their new place is on the cards...we wish you luck with your new venture!

Couldn’t be any better- lovely food, great service

This review is from a time when we were under tier3 restrictions.The restaurant was operating a takeaway service only. Ordering by phone was quick and easy. Monica was as bright and cheerful as ever.We had Gamberoni Zafferano, Arancini starters and Pasta Salsiccia and Penne a la Stroganoff. The meal was delightful, tasty and well cooked.The experience can’t really compare with the restaurant experience at Amore of course . But in the circumstances it cheered us up no end in gloomy times.Thank you Monica and Alex can’t wait to come back

Monday evening, rang up for a table for two at 6pm, no problem. Cozy atmosphere, starters of fungi bruschetta, and Arancini, both excellent. Mains of spaghetti carbonara and pappardelle chilli sausage, both superb. Service quick and attentive. Definitely return after lockdown two. May do takeaways during November, would definitely use if so. With soft drink £46. Great value

We were in Melton as we were off to make pork pie in the morning so thought we’d make a bit of a trip out of it. Did some research on Trip advisor and settled on Amores as our spot for dinner in the evening. This turned out to be an excellent decision and it’s fulsome reviews were well earned. Booking and communication with the restaurant prior to attending were really clear and excellent. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere and the staff are lovely and friendly. Finally the food is fantastic, I had the Arancini and then the lobster ravioli and it was one of those meals where you started taking tiny little bites to just savour each mouthful. In these difficult times it was like a beam of sunshine and happiness. Thank you.

It is some years since I ate here and standard is considerably higher than I remember - although it always has very good reviews. Ate variety of fish dishes all accompanied by very tasty sauces. All pay attention to safety and distancing.

We was celebrating our wedding anniversary & Amore couldn't have made it anymore special for us even if they tried, we had a 3 course meal & every single course was outstanding. We would highly recommend Amore and will 1000% be returning.

This was our 2nd visit and will definitely go again. Staff very friendly and COVID aware with all the precautions that we ALL need to take. As for the meal itself; mussels to start, Lobster ravioli and seafood risotto mains all great, tiramisu to finish - maybe could have done with a bit of alcohol in it but that's our preference. All in all very enjoyable

Really delicious meal! Fresh, authentic and tasty with fabulous, friendly service. We’ve lived in the area for years and have never been ... no idea why not. Definitely plan to come back soon.

This is one of our favourite places to eat, so was top of the list for Eat out to Help Out.The food was just excellent, starters of Arancini and King Prawns a good portion size and very tasty. Mains we Filletto Dolcelatte and Fillet on the hot stone. A lovely juicy slab of meat, which was obviously of high quality. For dessert Crème Brulee and Tiramasu which were light and delicious.We benefitted from the Help out to eat out (steak basically for 12.50 - erm yes please!) but would be happy to pay full price which is reflective of the quality of the food.Covid measures in place were unobtrusive, hand sanitiser available and condiments provided in sachets. It is a small restaurant, but tables were adequately spaced out.Will definitely be back again.

We been here on a Thursday night, the restaurant was busy, we didn't book but the owner managed to fit us in. I've tried the steak on the rock stone, best steak I ever had. My friend had a chicken on a chilli sauce, he said was amazing. The primitvo wine was very good and surprisingly cheap.well done Amore, we definitely see you very soon.

My friends and I had a party of 18 at Amore. The restaurant was packed, we all enjoyed the food which came out quickly, top service too.

Ate here 7pm 2 March 2020. Only 2 couples (4 people in the restaurant). The food & service was pretty good but the amount of dust around the place was not good.Dust around the dado rail was think. I chose 2 separate spots that was thick with dust. Not wishing to leave a poor review behind the staffs' backs just before leaving, i chose another area in front of a member of staff. That took was thick with dust. He stated that it was because of the AirCon and that was cleaned "weekly". If that was the case, I suggested at least twice per week..I was really hoping for an alternative restaurant for us to eat at from our long standing usual, was Amore it..... No!Overall, pretty good food & service but poorer hygene.

We went for dinner last night, on the recommendation of our b&b and had an absolutely fabulous meal. Shared a yummy starter of brie wrapped in Parma ham. Both had chicken mains - mine with a garlic mushroom cream sauce and my husband's with a chorizo and spicy tomato sauce. Both dishes were utterly delicious, with super tender chicken breast and a great balance of flavours. The accompanying roasted potatoes were tender and delicately flavoured with rosemary and garlic, and the veg were well cooked too. A bottle of fruity, smooth Primitivo slipped down very easily. And affogato for dessert was heavenly- creamy vanilla gelato doused with a shot of Bailey's and a shot of strong espresso coffee, topped with crumbled Amaretti biscuits. Service was friendly and professional, the atmosphere was warm and lively. The whole experience left us smiling. And all that for under £40 per head including a generous tip - for us as Londoners it was great value too. Highly recommended!

One of the best Italian restaurants I've been to in ages. Staff were friendly and quick to serve us, the food was exceptional and the wine selection good. Overall it wasn't particularly expensive, and if I lived in Melton Mowbray I would come here all the time!

Delicious meal served quickly and hot, the pudding were to die for! Everything was reasonably priced and the service the staff provide was amazing, this has got to be the best restaurant I have been to in Melton so far!.

I visited Amore for the first time last week with family. We found the atmosphere warm and the staff very friendly. The decor is nice, and while the restaurant is small, it still feels private and you have your own space to chat without overhearing everyone else. The choice on the menu looked delicious and I struggled to decide what I wanted... until I saw that they do steak on a stone, which is my favourite! If you’ve never had steak on a stone, it’s great fun to have a big slab of steak turn up on a super-heated piece of granite, for you to cook to your own liking. It was a lovely cut of steak which I enjoyed very much! My companions had leg of lamb and pasta, which they also said was very tasty, so top marks all round. It’s not the cheapest in Melton by any means, but it is certainly a very nice place to go if you fancy treating yourself. We would definitely go again.

We go here regularly and the quality never drops, you can expect friendly service and the best food in Melton by some way in my opinion!

My most recent visit was on NYE (2019), we hadn't been here for a while but I was pleased to be able to say that the experience was even better than I remembered. The restaurant was full, the food was excellent and the speed of service appropriate to the evening. We were the last to leave after enjoying the jazz duo who had been playing during the evening. I would thoroughly recommend paying a visit here.

Brilliant meal, food was fantastic. Just a little bit noisy due to Xmas party... but very good.. the steak was cooked to perfection and Michelle loved the cheesecake..

Visited on a Monday evening for a quick meal with friends. Service was swift served with a smile and polite conversation. Food was really good as it is consistently. Really enjoyed my spicy chicken pasta. I make no hesitation in recommending Amore, pasta steak sea food or vegetarian all great food to eat in or take away 😀

This is not the largest of eating places in town so it is usually advisable to book a table. Interesting and varied menu based on Mediterranean selection. Everything is cooked fresh and is very tasty. Decent wine choices too. Overall very reasonably priced meal and well worth eating there.

Excellent! Food,service and of course company!

Four of us visited and we all had, starters, mains, (two with side orders), desserts and coffees plus drinks with the food. There wasn't anything that we could fault or thought could have been better! This was one of the best meals that I have ever had and I can totally recommend this restaurant. Great choice of food on the menu and friendly and helpful staff but not over attentive. Just wish I had taken my camera along as the food is so nicely presented. Great to have this quality of restaurant on in the town.

I meet friends here twice a year and over the years it has never failed us. Food is always delicious and if we can get to go on a Monday, we get the monday night offer. Always seem to have the same main course Penne Pollo Gorgonzola, can't seem to bring myself to miss out! Would highly recommend.

Monkfish and sea bream excellent. Good ambience with attentive, pleasant, efficient service. Gets a bit noisy when loud folk don’t realise the volume of their conversation. Otherwise a great ambience.

We were blown away by the quality of food & the service! Thank you so much. I especially recommend the mushroom bruschetta, Brie caldo and the filet steak with peppercorn sauce. The wine was amazing too. Wow!

A group of four of us had been to see a show at the theatre and as it was well after 10 we really didn't expect that we would be allowed in, however despite the late hour we were welcomed in and given a table. We ordered a bottle of wine and a beer and the wine was superb. The staff were really friendly and attentive so the service was great. I had a salmon pasta and I wasn't expecting it to be anything special but it was the nicest that I have ever had in a restaurant. My husband had lamb and my friends had a chicken dish and none of us could fault our meals at all.We all had a dessert I couldn't decide between the creme brulee or the lemon cheesecake and so I asked the waitress to choose for me and OMG the lemon cheesecake and mango sorbet was to die for, I hope this is going to be a regular on the menu as I definitely want this again. My husband had a chocolate fudge cake, and my friend had the creme brulee and again they said their choices were delicious. My friends husband had the cheese board which was huge. Everything was absolutely delicious and perfect and the price was so reasonable too. We will definitely be back, hopefully next weekend to celebrate my sons birthday. I can definitely recommend this amazing restaurant.

First visit last night and it lived up to the reviews. The mussel starter was the best ever and the lasagne was equally good. The Primitivo is well worth a try. Good value and excellent service.

This small restaurant is well patronised and rightly so. The menu is imaginative and the quality of the food served is excellent. This was our first visit and we will call again.

When i travel with work, I often have to eat out alone in the evening. It can be a negative experience in the UK. Often people stare at you and sometimes people try to talk to you - uninvited - as though they feel sorry for you. In some restaurants I have been put in a corner facing the wall and kept being asked if I'm okay by the staff. Certainly not here at Amore. What a wonderful experience. I was given a lovely table facing the window so I could watch the world go by whilst working and eating at my leisure. And from the outside, people might think I was just waiting for a friend to return to the table. From the inside, it didn't matter. I was treat like any other customer, not harassed or asked if I was okay constantly. Staff were brilliant, so professional, helpful and polite. But the food!!!! Man! I love Italian food - but this was incredible - I wanted quite a few things, the menu is lovely. I opted for a pasta dish as I haven't had one for a while, usually going for the chicken or fish dishes - so I found some dishes I haven't had before and had the Gambretti with a rocket and parmesan salad on the side - what a treat - and presentation was awesome - and I had a white wine that I could actually just sit and sip rather than feel 'guilty' drinking on my own or that I was 'taking up a table on my own'. Wonderful place. Lovely people, excellent food. A must visit.

Visited this restaurant with my family, very busy place, we really enjoyed the food. I personally chose the lemon sole from the special board, it was very nice. Reasonable prices as well. We'll back very soon.

We organized a party on a Friday night, the restaurant was very busy when we arrived, the staff was very friendly. We ordered on the night, which is good as we could picked from the special board as well, the food was served promptly. Nice wine too. We will definitely come back.

Beautiful food and amazing staff serving. Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely touch of complimentary liquer afterwards. I had the special Steak whcih was to die for and the trio of Nut ice cream was just divine

We visited here on a Monday night without booking, the place was heaving and we only just got a table. I had a fillet steak and my wife had chicken with a sauce. The food was exceptional and the service was excellent.

We have never been to this restaurant before, however, we had an excellent meal and excellent, attentive service.

Very pleasant meal of lamb chops, good wines and cheese plus a drop of port to finish. Certainly a destination to seek out if you want good quality italian food in Melton Mowbray. The inly downside were a variety of boy racers screaming their cars down the main street which rather detracted from the meal. Not Amore's fault it should be stressed.

Excellent food. Nothing too much trouble for staff to accommodate dietary requirements. Very welcoming on booking and on arrival.

As a celiac it's very hard to find great eateries for an evening meal.

Great place, wonderful food and service...

Having not eaten here before, I sent an email via the website earlier in the day to ask if they provide a highchair and if yes, could we come along for an early evening table. The reply came back with a ‘Yes’ to both of my questions, so we were booked for 6.30pm.

Three beautiful courses in busy restaurant! All family members enjoyed the visit. Best to enter through the front door. Tricky steps to negotiate through the rear.
