Expensive but worth every penny. We opted for the a la crate option as we though the tasting menu would be too much food. However, with all the extra food tastes brought to us in between courses, it felt almost like a tasting menu. By the end of the long evening we felt absolutely stuffed.

Attended here recently for a belated birthday and Ruby Wedding Celebration and were not disappointed. Indeed I can safely say that this was one of the best meals I have had in my life. From the minute we arrived at the restaurant until we left the service was impeccable. We had the degustation menu and it was excellent. There were several items that I thought stood out, namely the lamb and the smoked lobster dishes.Staff excellent and very informative. The only issue was the wearing of masks which made the whole experience slightly impersonal.

We managed to get a last minute dinner reservation here during our one night stay at Gleneagles thanks to us a last minute cancellation. From dealing with our enquiry to everything about dinner, we could not speak more highly of the food, wine or the amazing staff who were fantastic. We had the best experience and it saved our stay at the hotel which would have been underwhelming without this. It is expensive but totally worth it.

It has been a few years since we last ate in Andrew Fairlie, so we were not sure what to expect. For timing reasons, we had to go a la carte. The menu was so good that it was very difficult to decide what to have. It turned out to be the best meal we have eaten for years, and much better than several three Michelin star establishments. All the dishes were superb, but the standouts were wild mushroom and truffle ravioli, hand rolled macaroni, pork assiette and wild turbot. The crowdie soufflé was mind-blowing. Service was just perfect. Of course it is expensive, but worth every penny for an occasional treat.

Chose Andrew Fairlie for our joint 60 birthday celebration. Were not disappointed. Chose the Degustation Menu which was very varied and which just seemed to go on and on. Given option of freshly shot Borders Partridge which we took. Staff very helpful and engaging, adding to the whole dining experience. A very memorable and enjoyable experience all in all.

The menu focuses on Scottish produce, particularly seafood. The tasting menu has crab, scallop and lobster dishes. The intensity of flavour in the scallops and lobster was amazing. Lamb was melt in your mouth. The wine was perfectly paired with each dish - each very high quality. Most were French fairly mainstream unlike those in some Michelin starred restaurants. The staff were outstanding and explained each dish and wine very clearly. The service was prompt but not inappropriately rushed. Our meal took 3 hours.

Scotland’s only 2* restaurant - a lot to live up to. Maybe too much?Well no - it’s fantastic. We’d eaten in 2 Edinburgh Michelin starred restaurants the weekend before our visit (both excellent) and Andrew Fairlie was next level (as it should be I guess)I’m no food critic. I visit these places to see how good food can be. To eat exceptional dishes we’d never create at home. Taste the best ingredients perfectly cooked and flavoured. Andrew Fairlie delivered. Book your visit to Gleneagles around getting into this restaurant. It’s fully booked months in advance. Having said that we stayed 6 nights and asked to be waitlisted. We got in twice. Push the boat out and eat the tasting menu with the wine pairing. Expensive - but you’ll never forget it.

That this restaurant has to be the best in Scotland, the UK (and for us, in the world!) should be beyond question. Of course, as one would expect of a 2 Michelin star place, the food, wine, the service, the ambiance are very special. But don’t let that, nevertheless, be taken for granted. It’s all very special and such a treat. What really separates this wonderful dining experience are the people. Every member of the team strikes a wonderful balance of being massively professional, whilst at the same time being warm, friendly, very approachable and being intuitively able to put everyone at ease - it’s a comfortable, relaxing experience with zero ‘stuffiness’ which can be present in many similarly rated restaurants. The Best - whatever TripAdvisor may suggest!

Absolutely worth a visit to experience stylish tasty food together with seamless service. We last visited in November 2019 following a previous experience "an intimate dining evening" in November 2017 with Andrew Fairlie , Alain Roux and Michel Roux (showcasing the launch of his cheese book). A worthy 5* albeit at the very top end of eating budgets!

The restaurant is in the Gleneagles hotel, but has a different reservation and staff (so the hotel can not really help). We were there with our family, and the tasting menu is very accessible (unless your kids only like pasta or chips). Very nice was a foie gras bomb, which was liquid foie gras which indeed exploded in your mouth. Very nice. The pace set for the menu was perfect for us (relatively high paced, but still enough time to digest). So if you have the chance for a reservation, do try to go there.

A wonderful family celebration for a 30th birthday. The food was, as you might expect, imaginative and beautiful. Despite Covid restrictions, the ambience was gentle and comforting. The only tiny gripe, and this wasn’t really with the restaurant, was that we felt we were not welcomed as we arrived into Gleneagles hotel. There was a considerable wait for reception and no one to tell us where to go for the restaurant and no signs!

This was the best meal we have ever had in a restaurant and we have been to a lot. The most notable part of the night was the service. They have got the balance of professionalism and friendly/welcoming just right. None of your stuffiness that you get in other Michelin restaurants. We opted for the 7 course tasting menu with matching wines. We were easily able to swap out courses we didn’t like the look of and this was actively encouraged. I have a nut allergy and they went out of there way to ensure I was confident that none of the dishes contained nuts. Even reminding me when my partners dish had nuts in it so I couldn’t steal any of hers! Very different experience to the Balmoral that served me nuts twice! My partner was pregnant and they were able to adapt some of the dishes to ensure products were properly cooked through. The knowledge of the staff was second to none. I asked one of the waitresses about the sourcing of the vegetables and she was able to detail the location of the garden and even amusing anecdotes about the head gardener! Our meal lasted for 3hrs but at no point did we feel rushed or like we were waiting for food. A huge amount of attention to detail goes into managing this for over 50 covers all eating numerous courses. It’s clear why this restaurant maintained its 2 Michelin stars last year. They deserve it! Any downsides? Perfection doesn’t come cheap. You won’t get much change out of £500 quid for a couple going for the basics! Worth every penny though I would say.

Best restaurant in Scotland. We did the degustation. All dishes well balanced. The smoked lobster and final dessert (think it was a mille-feuille style thing with yuzu and some awesome sorbet) were highlights, but nothing was below an 8/10. The little canapés and amuse bouches were great little treats too (and dispatched regularly to the table). Service and knowledge of staff absolutely impeccable, as you'd expect. The reputation is totally justified. The menu is wonderful, the service attentive and the décor exquisite. Even the crockery seems to have been tailor made for each of the dishes served. I would recommend the menu de degustation, as it allows for a full appreciation of the culinary skills of the team. Priced at £155 is not cheap but the skill and presentation justify the price. On the night we were there the menu included their piece de resistance which is the lobster with butter and parsley sauce. The dish is almost legendary and justifiably so! The only meat dish was lamb cooked in three different ways – every single way better than the other. The desert is perhaps the anti-climax and like most high quality chefs, there seems to be little attention paid to it. Perhaps this is because that by the time you reach the desert you are already satiated or by the seventh dish the chef has ran out of ideas...The wonderful menu is complemented by an excellent wine list and one of the very few places in Scotland where you will find a selection of Krug champagne. The prices of the wines is hyper inflated, but this is in keeping with what is on offer. The menu of degustation is accompanied by 3-4c amuse bouche, which are inventive and playful. The restaurant is justifiably considered as the best restaurant in Scotland.

Dined here recently whilst staying at the hotel and it was an excellent experience from 1st to last. Met by 2 lovely ladies at the restaurant entrance who made us feel welcome and from then on all the staff were great. Very friendly but not over bearing and not at all pompous as some fine dining establishments can be. If being super critical, sometimes took too long to remove finished plates, but a bit of a personal bugbear, so this may just be me...Food was superb. We ate from the A La Carte menu, including scallops, signature lobster, monkfish, lamb and soufflé. All were great, with good portion sizes, with the lamb being standout delicious. The usual Michelin amuse bouches, were also very good although I personally would be happy to dispense with these and pay less although still thought value for money was good.I was celebrating a birthday which the staff mentioned several times and also got a little birthday desert plate which were nice touches.Overall a great experience and would definitely return.

We had been for Sunday lunch in the hotel and in for a drink but this was our first time dining in the restaurant. All we could say was that the service, the dining experience and the atmosphere was out of this world. I feel that I am stating the obvious saying how good everything was but I am sure there will be someone who wouldn't be happy. Our personal feeling was that it was absolutely superb, the food was fantastic as was the service and well worth the money although to be honest if you are quibbling over the price then you shouldn't be eating there. You know it's expensive but you are not there every week, unless you are a lottery winner. We will certainly be back and all I will say is that if you are serious foodie people as we are then you have to dine there once as life is to short. A dinner at a famous, "experience" restaurant like Andrew Fairlie is best approached with the right attitude. The meal is exorbitant, that is to be expected. My wife and I were staying at Gleneagles so we felt we had to take advantage of the fact that Scotland’s only 2 Michelin star was at the resort and had a parent’s night out. Short version- we had a fantastic meal and you can understand why it’s so highly rated. The service was excellent from the greeting from the hostess to the little box of sweets they give you at the end. It felt like an amazingly short 3 hours. My wife and I did the tasting menu. There were no duds and though on this forum they have been mixed reviews about the signature smoked lobster, it was amazing the night we had it. The portion was fairly substantial but it was so good we wished we could have more. That’s not to say that we weren’t full at the end of meal. I think there were 7 courses plus an cheese course and multiple amuse bouche. By the end, my wife and I were stuffed. Every course was tasty and some including the lobster were excellent (another highlight was a foie gras bon bon). It’s not cheap but not outrageous for a meal of this caliber and if we are in the area again it would definitely be on my must do list.

Four (!) lots of canapés/Amuse Bouche pre dinner... every morsel a welcome treat. The atmosphere is lovely. The staff delightful & caring. All the courses were delicious. Couldn’t fault the evening. Looking forward to returning. Enjoy the photos! Albeit TA does not allow more than 10 so the whole menu not uploaded! Duck, Dessert, Cheese etc missing.

My wife and I visited to celebrate her birthday. The restaurant has a lovely warm, comfy but luxurious feel to it. We chose the menu degustation with matched wines. Every course (and multiple amuse-bouche) was a marvellous surprise of flavours, textures and colours - the half bon bons filled with liquid foie gras, the ravioli of wild mushroom & truffle pea veloute, and the smoked lobster teamed with Krug champagne, were the definite highlights for us, but we thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening's experience, it definitely left us wanting to revisit in the future to sample their new creations.

This is the first time we’ve visited since Andrew sadly passed away. The current team are keeping his standards up and some. We had a beautiful meal including a shared saddle of venison with truffle celeriac and a small venison tartare which was absolutely outstanding. Good wines good service, never fails to deliver.

The tasting menu is as close to perfection as anybody could possibly wish for, the smoked lobster dish which appears in other reviews is a real highlight. I have found in the past that Michelin stars bring no guarantee of either quality or enjoyment but you will have no such concerns here.

My husband Roger and I were immensely glad to attend the very moving celebration of Andrew Fairlie's inspiring life as a chef and a human being on Monday 11 March at Gleneagles. It was particularly touching to hear from his long-term colleagues and friends, Maître D. Dale Dewsbury and Head Chef Stephen McLaughlin. Andrew was one of the world's great chefs and he died tragically young. His creativity and the friendship of his brigade and full team were manifest, as they were two days later when we enjoyed yet another superb meal in the Andrew Fairlie Restaurant. It is entirely clear that Andrew's legacy is great and that Head Chef Stevie will not simply continue it, he will develop it. Every course was outstanding and the new dishes so enjoyable. The team and its friendship were again manifest.

Firstly let me say how sad my wife and I were to hear about the passing of Andrew Fairlie - he was much more than a very fine chef, he was an inspiration to others in their world and a first class host of a very high standard restaurant. This was our first visit to the restaurant for many years, and much anticipated. Although we would never claim to be fine dining connoisseurs, over many years we have dined in some of the finest restaurants in the world, from Paris to Madrid, from London to New York, from Gordon Ramsay's Grill Room in The Savoy to the Roux restaurants within the group of lovely Country House hotels they manage as part of a group - indeed we have even had the pleasure of dining privately with the great Albert Roux. This is but a summary of our dining over many, many years. From this you might gather that we have a knowledge and now an expectation of a standard of cuisine, a quality of presentation, a level of service and, ever more importantly, an ambience of restaurant that is completely rounded and takes the fine dining "cuisine" into something more - an "experience".

I have had the privilege of coming to the restaurant since it opened. The Andrew Fairlie is not just a restaurant it is a sensory experience. From the small stool on which to stand a handbag, to the hand made coffee cups with a wafer thin lip to hand made everything which tantilises in every way.

I can’t rate this highly enough. The food is simply stunning from the multiple canapés through to the desert course (we had that tasting menus). The matching wines were thoughtfully explained by their new trainee sommelier and the dishes were served with a degree of theatre associated with a 2 star dining room.
