Great menu options. Starters, mains and desserts were,without exception,delicious. Friendly and expert staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Great atmosphere. Despite being busy it did not feel at all frantic. Really enjoyed this visit here.

We have visited The Bay Horse before and always receive a friendly welcome. The food is always well presented and fresh. Service is good with a good choice of menu, wine and ale. We will certainly enjoy and look forward to visiting from time to time in the future.

Had a fantastic Sunday lunch in this wonderful country pub. The roast beef dinner was amazing with a great selection of seasonal vegetables, roast chicken really good and I absolutely enjoyed my beef bourginon pie. Desserts were brilliant too. I must also compliment the friendly staff and it was nice to thank the chefs. Super meal!

Really great food (we had the lamb and the beef), meat cooked to perfection. Particularly liked the veg as often lacking in quantity/variety nowadays...leek gratin especially yummy. Really friendly staff giving a very warm welcome, will definitely go again.

Having decided it was time to spend a few days in the wonderful hamlet of Kirby Hill, North Yorkshire, we could not pass up the chance of sampling a meal at the Bay Horse in Ravensworth. It was Valentine’s Day but the pub wasn’t going to get carried away by the hype and delivered exceptionally tasty, hot, satisfying food. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere warm and friendly and we could not be more impressed. I would thoroughly recommend taking the time to sample the food served in this bright and wonderful ‘real’ pub.

What an absolute Gem the bay Horse is. It has recently been refurbed and it really is a superb restaurant to visit. It is privately owned and you can tell this as soon as you enter. There is a warm friendly greeting as you enter with a bar stocked with beers and wines for all tastes. The staff are extremely nice and the food menu is good , varied and served to the highest quality. We couldn't fault it all, I would recommend booking as we only just got in but it was well worth it. Excellent location, excellent food and service.

A very agreeable evening, greeted with warmth and welcome and an amazing menu. It was a lovely atmosphere in the snug, where we were seated. We chatted with a couple at a nearby table and really enjoyed the conversation. The food was superb - no other word for it. The family that now runs the Bay Horse deserves every accolade that comes their way. Simply fabulous!

Really lovely atmosphere. Friendly welcoming staff. Seperate bar and dining area. Good range of food on the menu. Staff are attentative. Offered a seat in the bar to enjoy a pre meal drink and a chance to read through the menu. Order taken in the bar and then when food was soon to be served, we were taken into the dining area. Really tasty food and not your average pub meal. We will be back. 😊

Very welcoming and friendly staff on arrival. We had mains and desserts for four adults and two children that were all well presented, good portions and very tasty. The beef bourguignon pies were absolutely delicious as was the cheese souffle. All of our meals were faultless and highly recommended by all.

From the greeting as you walk in to the cosy bar area. Lovely restaurant ambience. Food piping hot and whatever means more than delicious! 1st of 3 evenings booked. Even lucky to have booked Xmas Eve. Also booked next years cottage to frequent 2024 December. Sits so beautifully in the village of Ravensworth.

We were staying at the nearby West Layton Manor (fabulous place) for my husband’s 70th birthday, with family and decided to book an evening meal at the Bay Horse. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with welcoming smiles from the staff. Our meals were served quickly, presentation was faultless and everything was cooked to perfection. Good sized portions and thoroughly enjoyable. All the staff were friendly welcoming and efficient. We would definitely visit again and would highly recommend this establishment to everyone.

We returned to the Bay Horse to celebrate a birthday and had another brilliant meal with attentive, friendly service. This is probably the best place to eat in the Richmond area. We both had the Swordfish which was terrific. There is a lively atmosphere which adds to the dining experience.

A special Birthday night out for my partner and our two friends. Delicious food, beautifully cooked and presented. Good sized portions and really tasty. All the starters were good but a special mention to the Black pudding and Haggis. The steak and kidney pie was rich, tasty plus had a little pot of gravy to pour - chose or not to . Nice touch. The cod and prawn in a Thermidor sauce was mouth watering. Honestly , everything was just perfect. We’ve had a few disappointing dining out experiences recently but we will definitely be returning for the Weekend menus. The waiting staff were so welcoming. The mid week menu is pared down slightly

Very friendly staff and lovely food. We stayed at the west Layton manor and this pub was recommended to us. It is a nice choice for dinner. We both had the tomato soup to start with which was very nice and for mains we had the steak and kidney pie which is a huge portion and the sword fish. Their cofee is amazing. We would recommend this pub.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip as a family to the Bay Horse. The staff and food were exceptional! Our lovely waitress was so welcoming and helpful when taking our order (our group has a lot of allergies/intolerances to consider so we’re a pain!) The starter we had was the tomato soup and it was one of the nicest I’ve ever had; and the whole bowl was deliciously hot! My main was the steak - adapted for my gluten intolerance and it was cooked to perfection. For dessert I had a white chocolate and orange creme brulee- WOW. Yet again, another 10/10 course. My parents, partner and Nan all thoroughly enjoyed their food choices too. And I recommend the Malbec 🍷✨ A huge thank you to the chef and kitchen team- you did a fantastic job. Front of house made our meal really enjoyable 🥰

Could not fault any aspect of our lunch. Food was excellent, service was so obliging but not intrusive and the ambiance delightful. Looking forward to returning to try the midweek menu.

The warmest of welcomes from lovely attentive staff. Good selection of Ales and wines. Sunday lunch was lovely, enough choice to satisfy any group although we all opted for main course beef. Served with home made Yorkies roast potatoe, mash, cheese sauced leeks, peas, and a medley of roast veg, extra gravy no problem. An extra roast potatoe would have been welcomed by those with bigger apetities. Popular starters were tempura prawns and fish goujons although there were plenty of options. Sweets were a triumph, an outstanding lemon raspberry and amaretto triffle, a whisky glazed bread and butter pudding two of many choices. If you journey out along the A66 please park carefully in the village and respect the residents space. Your journey will be worth it. Will we be back absolutely.

Tried here twice this month for Sunday lunch and not disappointed - our new favourite in the area. This visit I had the best chicken liver parfait i’ve ever had! soo tasty I lapped it up. For main I had roast chicken breast - beautifully seasoned and proper mash with pig in blanket and stuffing, roasties and Yorkshire pudding. Unfortunately both visits too full for desert. The food and service was outstanding. We really enjoyed the evening. We each had a starter and a main course, we shared 3 bottles of wine and the bill was not extortionate in our opinion. The service was relaxed and friendly. It was lovely to go somewhere different and experience very good quality.

We had high expectations for the Bay Horse after reading previous reviews. It is a nice pub (although lacks atmosphere) and the food is good, but not exceptional. A nice meal out but not memorable, although the staff were lovely.

Had a fabulous evening meal at this lovely family run village pub. I had the lamb rump whilst my husband had calves liver. This is a real hidden gem! Well worth a special trip to experience the very friendly service and outstanding food. About 10 mins drive from Richmond town centre, my satnav took us straight there.Dog friendly inside and out. You can sit at the front and people watch across the village green, stay in the bar for a relaxed atmosphere, head through the back for a more formal restaurant, or go into the garden for a secluded, chilled experience. The produce is local and we both had pies - absolutely delicious!! We were stuffed, it’s great value. Chips are fab. The staff (owners?) couldn’t have been more helpful, going out of their way to feed a family who had come in after the kitchen had closed and who were clearly having a very bad day. The Missus and I spent an excellent afternoon in the Beer Garden at the Bay Horse on Good Friday (along with the dog in the shade) making the most of the beautiful warm and sunny weather and the new and improved drinks provided by the new landlords. The best pint of San Miguel I have had in the UK and the missus enjoyed several of the Gin selections. All the tables were full and we had an afternoon of superb conversation with the new landlords , locals and visitors. Thoroughly enjoyable it was and it is really good to have the Bay Horse back as a proper country pub with a warm welcome and a good pint. We will try the food on our next visit , it was far too warm on this occasion for eating.Thanks Bridget and Brian.

We stopped going under the previous owner, however a revamp and new tennants has breathed a new lease of life back into a once great pub.

Having done some internet research we found what must be out dated opening times. It would be helpful and create a better business customer relationship if you ensured that the correct times are publicised. However you are not alone as you nearest competitor is also guity and has a ruddy great sign at the end of the road STATING OPEN EVERY LUNCHTIME!!!
