Great place, great people. Must try if you go to London. Fish and chips are 10/10

I have been visiting London for over a week now and can say that this has been one of the best fish and chips I have had. Phenomenal batter and flavour on the fish and amazing chips. All ingredients were fresh and service was quick and easy. Friendly family owned place with kind service. I will definitely be coming back here when I visit London again.

Traditional fish and chips are delicious, no question about it. If you expect something special or typically British, it will be disappointing. Fried fish and fries in Germany is not much different. Deductions for the ambience because the basement is being remodeled (noisy) and there is currently only one functioning toilet.

Worst fish and chips I've ever had by far, really smelly off-fishy flavor that was repulsive

Small restaurant but more seating downstairs. Had no issue finding a table on a Saturday afternoon. We had to place our order as soon as we entered the restaurant which was fine but felt a bit rushed. Food tasted nice, hot and cooked well, especially the battered halloumi. Nice atmosphere. Service was a little slow but overall pleasant. Good location.

Simple place but delicious food!

I ate cod and shrimp. 1. There is no such thing as fish and chips. Don't expect anything, just enjoy the sauce. 2. However, the fries themselves here are not soggy and can be fried right away and eaten lightly. 3. Instead, I recommend cod, but not shrimp. Small portion, lots of fried food 4. The fried potatoes were also delicious. congrats

Gran restaurante. Las mejores FISH AND CHIPS de la ciudad. Supremamente frescas y crujientes. Hechas en la minuta. Los calamares son carnudos y frescos. No duden en entrar a almorzar en camino al Museo Británico. Atención super rápida y excelente.

We tried fried cod and chips on Bens today. Pretty nice done, but I missed the butter a bit on the fish and the chips were bit dense, but tasted nice. The prize was very affordable and the place like a estereotypical fish and chips typical place. The bartender was all LOVE.

A brilliant find! Well priced fish and chips with takeaway and eat in options. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The decor is clean, tiled, simple, compact tables and chairs, but spotlessly clean and bright. It is a single shop premises, don't expect a big expansive restaurant, it's not, it's a small traditional fish & chip shop. Upstairs are a few tables for 2 to 4 people, downstairs another 4 or 5 tables. The food was served on big white plates which was a nice touch. The fish and chips were great quality. Price for Haddock & Chips, with can of coke, eat in, £15. That's a really good price in central London. I will be back! 5 stars!

The sauce issue could be more hygienic (Heinz bottles refilled 100 times...)

Absolutely gem of a place. Great food, kind staff, fast service. I really enjoyed the Cod & Chip’s alongside the salad. Free condiments include tartar sauce, ketchup, mayo, salt and vinegar. I would suggest it

£6 for a small bottle of beer and £4 for chips that have no flavour. Cold draft from the door. Definitely wouldn't go back.

Lovely place, man on door was lovely we'd been walking forages and he seated us quickly, took order promptly. Food was amazing, best chips i've had in ages, potatoes fluffy. Was with my 13yr old daughter and we both loved the food bringing te rest of family next time.

Authentic traditional Fish&Chips. Fast service, yummy food.

I eat out all the time and mainly leave positive reviews but this one was not great. Like a few other recent reviews I was disappointed. TripAdvisor success maybe. Small portion of fish for the money, very dark batter and greasy and pale chips. At £12.50 it is not cheap for a chippy. All you need is clean hot oil for a light and crispy batter and chips looking golden and not pale and soft. Quite annoying to pay 2.50 for a can of drink. By all means make a profit, but that just felt like a rip off. Go to a pub with comfy seats and a nice atmosphere and maybe pay an extra few pounds and enjoy a proper fish and chips. I took my Greek friends based on the reviews and was embarrassed for them as this should be a classic UK meal. Ending with a positive, the staff were friendly.

Typical London atmosphere. The portion is huge... I ordered cod & chips (cod with fries)... the sauces are free of charge, the only thing missing are some vegetables...

We were hungry after catching a show at the Cambridge Theatre, and this chippy was the perfect solution! It’s on the way back to the underground, food was great, and service was friendly - couldn’t ask for much more!

As soon as we entered the “restaurant”, we didn’t have time to choose, the fish and chips were already on their way. We were rushed, having to quickly order our drinks from the second we set foot in the establishment. The downstairs room is very unpleasant, and with a dirty ventilation right above our heads. The tables were not cleared and cleaned, we felt forgotten. Overall the fish and chips was fine...but overpriced for what it was.

INCREDIBLE! Fish & chips out of 10, I have never tried another one either, but to repeat. I ordered cod, my brother had hake, and they were both delicious. The potatoes were homemade, and the fried food was super well done, without excess oil. Check the list of typical UK dishes✌🏼

The cod fish is fresh and juicy. The batter is crispy, and the chips are not greasy. I think it’s best fish and chips in London.

The Cod Fish is space, very very good. The place is not particularly inviting, let's say that if I hadn't read the excellent reviews I would never have entered. Especially the rooms in the basement are really ugly!!! But for food and price it's worth it

The Service is polite and the Taste was good.

Totally recommended. Compared to other places in the area, much cheaper. The portion is large, one plate is enough for two. The place is small, there are barely 5 tables and 2 more on the terrace, but you can order takeout. For less than 20 pounds you get the fish and chips with a drink included. At the tables you can help yourself to sauces such as mayonnaise, ketchup and a special sauce with herbs. Very attentive staff. You can pay both in cash and by card.

Great ‘chippy’ spot that’s close to a number of theaters if you need to grab a quick and tasty bite before a show. Food: Cod and chips! Cod was fresh with a crisp and light batter, served with a generous portion of chips. Tartar sauce was in a squeeze bottle on the table, along with mayo, ketchup and vinegar. Service: Efficient and friendly. Cost: ~£20 for the fish and chips and a drink. Space: Cosy. I sat in the smaller eat-in space as you enter, but there seemed to be more space downstairs. Takes cards and cash.

Typical London fish & chips Living in the south of Spain, saying that English fried fish is good is saying that you are hungry and you are not disgusted by anything. The truth is that the portions are generous, with many fries that were not bad. The fish was rather dry and bland, although the squid was very good, quite acceptable. Meatloaf, good in terms of flavor. And the prohibitive drinks.....£5 a can of beer.....free tap water. Better not to go to the bathroom...or if you do, after eating

Food was decent. So overpriced for fish and chips. But you are in central London so no surprise there. Weird vibe going on in there. Staff were a bit eager to get you to order and usher you into the place. Everything was freshly made and the fish looked amazing. Defo go back but oooofffff the prices! Spennyyyyyy!

Somewhere between the British museum and the west end theatre zone is this tiny gem of a chip shop. Best chips for us. We like chips hot and crisp without vinegar. These freshly cut and fried chips were so good, our son wanted another portion. The fryers were really friendly too. He's got a special way to make his chips. It's clean and brightly decorated and there's more seating downstairs. Looking forward to our next visit

Le hasard fait bien les choses , nous sommes rentrer chez ben’s l’accueil est chaleureux et agréable il nous a trouver une table et le service est rapide, ne pas se fiers au table user par le temps mais a la qualité du fish and chips ,ma fille et moi nous avons été tellement ravis que nous y somme retourné avant de quitter Londres . Franchement pas top. Frites congelées. Poisson assez bon mais sans plus. Le ketchup est un ketchup de sous marque infame remplit devant les clients dans des tubes "Heinz" Serveurs sur leurs téléphones, peu accueillants. "Bon" mais rien de plus qu'un poisson acheté au même titre dans le commerce.

J'ai pris le Cod fish, il est délicieux, fond en bouche un très bon goût de poisson frais. L'accueil, le personnel et le propriétaire très sympa. Je recommande

Essen war günstig aber die Pommes schmeckten seltsam und der Fisch war viel zu fettig… Service war schnell aber ist meiner Freundin ziemlich unangenehm auf den Fuß getreten und hat den ganzen Schuh extrem verschmutzt. Wir wurden in einen Keller mit Tischen und Stühlen unterm Restaurant gelotst bevor wir überhaupt gucken konnten was wir essen möchten, dort saßen wir jedoch komplett allein. Ich würde definitiv nicht nochmal hingehen sondern nach Alternativen suchen.

I went twice. First time I would have given 3 stars because the fish and chips was below average but the server was welcoming and it was cooked half decent Completely forgettable but overall acceptable if youre in a pinch. Second time. It was worse, the food is unacceptable, overcooked fish and soggy chips and then your turn around and notice how unsanitary the place is. The server, a young boy, paces about the place with a scoul. Cheer up mate :). There is nothing traditional about this place and there is definitely no Ben about either. Absolute sham. Look elsewhere

We've spent a 4-day trip at London where we also wanted to to try out some local cousine. We chose the place, because I've already been there once, but the food was even better than I remembered. Therefore, we spent an additional lunch there as well. Big portions, lovely staff. I can highly recommend the place for anyone visiting London.
