Cafe in the Square in Perth & Kinross

This is a gem of a place! Great food, spotlessly clean and lovely, friendly staff/ owner (?). We called in yesterday for a late breakfast/early lunch. Had the most amazing toastie and the hot chocolate was to die for! A simple lunch but done to perfection - so many cafes manage to get it wrong but this cafe delivers in every way. We had wanted to go back again for breakfast today but unfortunately our plans changed at the last minute. That said, we’ll definitely be going back again when we’re next in the area. Don’t miss an opportunity to call in if you’re close by! Great job - thank you!

Polite service! Dog friendly! Tasty food! Lovely atmosphere! Come in for a filled roll and hot chocolate with my young baby and dog, staff were very polite and helpful making friendly conversation and fussing baby and dog alike, special touch was bringing a bowl of water for my dog without the need to ask. Just Fab.

Lovely dog friendly cafe. They made us feel very welcome and even gave our dog Bo her own water dish. The food was good and the coffees and hot chocolate were excellent. It was a great place to go to while we were on holiday. Thanks again.

Coffee was lukewarm. When I asked for it to be reheated I was told I should have asked for it to made extra hot when I ordered it!! After 5 minutes it has still not reappeared. I was told the the manager that there were 6 orders ahead of me and I would have to wait. Eventually it was delivered by the manager. I told him the service was unacceptable. He told me I was rude and to leave. He tried to pick up my coffee from the table but I beat him to it. I refused to leave, and at this point I think he realised he had overstepped the mark and left us. Two foreign women sitting next to us were astonished by his behaviour and said they hoped it didn’t spoil our day. Well it didn’t, we’re thick skinned. What they must have thought of Scottish hospitality I can only guess. We are a couple in our 60s who just wanted a good cup of coffee. We have both worked in hospitality and appreciate the pressures of working in busy periods. The appropriate way to deal with our minor complaint would have been to apologise and deliver our coffee asap. Clearly the management don’t like complaints.

I contacted Ashley as I can’t get out and about, to see if she would be able to do a lunch platter tray for me as my mother in law was coming for lunch, wanted something special. Well wow, we had 2 lots of sandwiches, a huge slice of quiche and of course one of the famous strawberry tarts. It was amazing. Well worth the money I paid. Also, even though they couldn’t open the cafe they still got someone to be there for my son to pick this up. Tremendous service. A+++++

Great for lunch. Good variety of dishes on the menu.. Traybakes are exceptional. It is busy but have always managed to get a table.

My wife and I ate breakfast here twice recently. Whilst we were initially delighted to see vegetarian options on the menu their breakfasts were ultimately disappointing. The mushrooms raw and the tattie scones hard. The first visit was just about passable but the second really not good. Its a shame because the staff were friendly and it was the only real option in town

This cafe can't be faulted...all staff are friendly and welcoming...food always delicious and make the coffee perfect. Always a great time in the Cafe in the Square, Alyth.

Just enjoyed a good takeaway coffee with the worst scne I have ever eaten..... actually couldn't eat it. Its heading g for the bin outside!

Staff friendly but we ordered the pulled pork on a roll but it was cold pulled pork should be hot. it was very cold

was passing through Alyth last week and had a coffee and scone in the cafe in the square hubby said it was best hot chocolate ever,great selection of home baking too choose from and prices were very reasonable ,will make a point to go back next time we are in the area

My wife and I visited this cafe while waiting for our son to collect us. We had come up from Sussex and could not find his address. The staff were very friendly and helpful even offering to wait for our son to arrive after they were due to close. Lovely Scottish hospitality.

Popped in while on a quick stop in Alyth. Friendly service, half decent selection of food and reasonable prices. We had a panini and some drinks and it was all good. Clean toilet, which is a bonus as well😊

I got received by a man seemed arrogant all he had a machine. They then brought things on a tray – coffee in a disposal cup, water in a disposal glass, and cake in a disposable dish and disposable cutlery. They asked me take things off the try. The coffee was normal and cake tasteless They think they are the best in the world . Price is too expensive Very arrogant, snotty people. The man seemed like a very bossy police officer ready to arrest you. Very daunting experience, they need to shut or change the team because I have never seen very snobby people my entire life.

Bacon roll and coffee £5 , come on, its no London, 2 bits o bacon, no butter on a fluffy roll, and coffee like instant. sad.

Having our kitchen done so decided to have a takeaway,2 bacon,2 f egg with b/pudding, 1 sausages on roll and 3 large cappuccinos,£20.00 give or take a few pennies,must say very easy to pick it up,and delicious,just what the lads needed,definitely recommend a++++

The cafe had moved to new quarters across the square from their previous location but the food was still excellent. A great lunch of home-made soup, etc.

This lovely cafe is in Alyth not Blairgowrie so the listing is misleading. Alyth is an interesting historic small town about 6 miles from Blair. Good coffee and sandwiches, seats outside on the square by the small river. The cafe is part of the excellent...

A family business opened in March 2019 and well worth supporting. Excellent service, delicious homemade cakes, teas and coffees made with care to order. A must when visiting the area. Local ice cream is also available

We have been on holiday to this area before and discovered the cafe then which was on the opposite side of the square then. We are now back and the location has changed but everything else is the same. If you are veggie this cafe is great (for meat eaters too) and the cakes are fab. Good coffee as well. Friendly staff. Clean and now has a kid’s play area as well in a separate room!

29 members of Stirling Rambling Club visited the cafe at the end of a 10 mile walk for a revitalising coffee and cake. Staff were all very friendly and coped admirably with this influx of hikers late in their day! Definitely one to keep in mind if we are back in the area.

Breakfast was delicious and not at all expensive. Macaroni cheese for lunch gorgeous. We were made very welcome on both of our visits and will definitely eat here again when in the area.

Busy little cafe on the square - favourite with locals and visitors. All food is cooked to order, so maybe a short wait before indulging in superbly cooked food.

Had lunch there with my daughter. She had the all day breakfast, I had the veggie version, which was also gluten free. Lovely, not greasy either, we both enjoyed it. The pot of tea was really good too, and plenty for two people. I've had their soup on a previous occasion which was great for veggies and very tasty. Good value for money. Recommended. Will be taking guests there again this week

We first visited some months ago whilst on holiday in the area. There were outside tables which suited us very well as we had our dog with us. Staff very friendly and we were made very welcome, coffee excellent, cakes scrummy. We visited several times on this holiday and made it our go to stop for morning cake and coffee. We revisited the area again last week and again made several visits and I must say their coffee is delicious and very reasonably priced. I simply cannot fault this cafe and look forward to returning.

We stopped here for lunch one day on holiday and we were happy to have come across this café. The full Scottish breakfast was tasty and very filling. The home made cakes looked good so we got some to take away - we were right, they were delicious. Reasonable priced, good service and open on a sunday too.

Makes he best milkshakes for miles around, travel to Alyth especially to have a milkshake there. Lovely staff and pleasant suroundings

Low cost and tasty menu, lots of cakes and a great location on the market square ideal for a quick coffee before your bus.It could do with a wee bit better extraction as only complaint was clothes smelled of cooking after I left. This doesn't bother most people and doesn't detract from the friendly service and tasty snacks.

popped into this delightful café in Alyth while visiting the square and watching the Salmon trying to jump the fall in the river .... the staff were very friendly and the food was very nice

Lots of excellent take-away food as well as meals served on the premises..VERY clean establishment with very friendly staff.I recommend the vanilla ice cream and the many wonderful cakes.Lots of variety, though, and you get a full meal there if you wish.

Nice little café in the centre of Alyth. Staff are very welcoming.Ordered a breakfast and it was served really quickly and cooked to perfection. I don't know if things were dry fried or not, but there was no fat or grease left on the plate. Excellent. The cappuccino was great as well. Would definitely recommend this as a stop off if in the area.

After exploring nearby glens we stopped at the cafe in the square for some lunch having not visited before. We got there before it became busy and luckily so because the cafe filled with families, local workmen, mums and their newborns and was even the location for a small business meeting; a real variety of people in the cafe! The service was lovely, friendly and efficient. The food itself was great for the price and of a generous quality too! Overall lovely little local spot.

Visited this afternoon, staff very welcoming and friendly. Ordered a cheeseburger.and hot chocolate, panini and coffee. Cheeseburger had very obviously been microwaved as unable to eat the outside of the burger as it was solid. Panini with chicken tikka was very bland and presentation left a lot to be desired. Floor was very dirty with bits of food despite the cafe being very quiet (we were the only customers in). Coffee and hot chocolate were really nice.

Service and food was spot on and my daughter and loved it. The naughty chocolate cake was such a treat, we shall not forget it in a hurry

As my mum and myself were out for a run in the car we decided to stop at Alyth for a bit of lunch. We were not disappointed. The service was great. The staff were lovely and they were very busy but the service was quick. If we are ever this way again we will for sure pop in. Thanks for a great lunch

We were made very welcome at this friendly cafe. There is a good choice of drinks and the apple and toffee pie was delicious.

Visited the cafe few times when visiting Alyth and nearby countryside. Food is always good and surprises me each time how good value for money is being provided. Staff is very welcoming and always makes the experience even better than expected. Thank you. Will be back in the future.

Ashley and Steven run a lovely wee cafe in the picturesque town of Alyth. Despite being flooded in July, they got the cafe up and running again with great drive and enthusiasm. They sell the most amazing scones that are suitable for all, including vegan diets. I regularly buy some to take home and heat later. The jam is not my favourite, but as I live locally, I'm a bit cheeky and take my own. They source soya milk if required, and my friend raved about her latte.The owners and staff are all mega friendly, and there's a lovely warm family atmosphere. Well worth going to Alyth for a visit!

The hotel we were staying in had been flooded so unable to serve breakfast hence going here. The breakfast was lovely and good value. Service friendly and good , we bought some cake to take with us and the girl put them I a take out box and gave us spoons to eat them with.

I stopped off at the cafe on the square for a bite to eat and was greeted with a very pleasant lady. I ordered the broccoli and Stilton soup which was absolutely delicious, I followed this with the steak pie and again this was delicious, I finished off a very pleasant afternoon with a slice of the best carrot cake I have ever tasted .

We enjoyed a very tea and scone and ordered a tuna mayonnaise roll to carry out for our walk the next day. To be fair it was near closing time but, as we discovered the next lunchtime, the filling was minimal to say the least.

Good, honest tasty food, we had soup and sandwiches and a panini, There is a good selection of cakes and scones on offer too, all looked delicious. Staff really couldn't have been more friendly and chatty. We'll be back soon.

visited as a freinds treat and what a treat it was. Afternoon tea. Lovely fresh sandwiches and a mixture of cakes, scones and bakes with a proper cup of coffee. The cakes were absolutely delicious and also available for takeaway. Staff friendly and couldn't do more.
