Calabrisella Cathays in Cardiff

The food here is superb and the service is impeccable! The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, everyone is super friendly. Went for lunch with a colleague, we were engrossed in conversation and didn't realise the restaurant had closed. The staff never mentioned it, we were mortified when we realised and apologised profusely and still the staff assured us it was no problem and not to worry. I cannot recommend Calabrisella enough! Thank you for being so lovely!

Great food and friendly service, high authenticity

Ordered on deliveroo having ordered here >8 times previously. They sent me 2x kids pizzas instead of adult. Called them and they refused to rectify. Awful customer service. Will never order again.

The food tastes authentic and was freshly made,but all the guests after returning home where super thirsty,kids were waking up in the night looking for water-not quite sure why is that as it didn't taste salty at all. The restaurant was quiet during our meal,the waiter was friendly and tried to look after us the best he could. The prices are pretty high, especially for the desserts and drinks . I don't think I'd return again.

Often I come here for lunch with colleagues. The best place to eat a real Italian pizza🍕. Fresh ingredients, high quality, and excellent customer service.

Ordered Calabrisella as the food in photos looked amazing and it has won awards on Deliveroo. Upon recieving the order we were shocked. The brushetta was soggy and messy as you can see in the photo below. The arancino was missing and the pizza with the supposed seasonal vegetables was more of a drizzle of vegetables than a pizza with seasonal vegetables. Looked nothing like they advertised. It looked like an amateur attempt at making a pizza. If we could give 0 stars we would, absolutely waste of money

Well...I used to get a breakfast here regularly....as I work in the area....the food was fantastic and I told them repeatedly.....then one day...We don't do that anymore....that was it.....??

A hidden gem 😍. Have been here twice almost a year apart and both times the food was incredible and the service top-notch. They do the best cocktails (the pina colada is to die for!) and the Carbonara was the best I’ve ever had. They have an option to select fresh pasta they have made that day and it is well worth the extra couple of quid. Will be returning soon!

I went with 2 colleagues for lunch. All of us wanted something good and fast. We had 2 pizzas and 1 lasagna. All the food arrived together and we enjoyed it. If you want real Italian food, Calabrisella Cathays is a MUST.

I even had a dream about the pizza the week after!

Small, friendly Italian restaurant near the centre of Cardiff. Have visited a couple of times and the food is always excellent - their pizzas are definitely hard to beat. The staff are pleasant and always on hand for recommendations etc. Would recommend this restaurant for a relaxed evening with family and friends.

Their pizzas are definitely one of the best in Cardiff! Definitely worth trying. I'm no expert on pizza, but My Italian friend likes to eat here, so I assume it's very good.

Great food, starters could have been slightly bigger for price, but then pizza is massive and well worth it. Flavours are abundant and pair well. Service was quick and efficient.

Lovely meal for four to celebrate sons's birthday. Everybody loved their food. My affogato was easily the best I've ever had. Very friendly service, great atmosphere, simple but pleasant and very clean interior. Three courses for 4 and a round of drinks came to less than £150, which I consider extremely reasonable for food of this quality. We left with a big smile on our faces, already looking forward to our next visit.

Been a couple of times now and has excelled everytime! If you want to experience the best pizza outside Italy then go nowhere else! It's family friendly [incl babies] and the team make it a personal experience. We'll done to Francesco, Giuseppe & Mateo........we'll be back soon!!

On this Friday afternoon, I tried to walk in and ask if there were any tables available, politely. The waiter looked me up and down in a rude way, and said that there were no tables now. It was quite interesting that 60% table were empty without any reservation signs during that time. So I left quietly. Be careful to order any food here. You are not allowed to dinner in depends on who you are.

I’ve been twice now and each time I’ve been served the most delicious food. The bruschetta is excellent and the Strozzapreti Alla Norma is unbelievably good. Perfectly cooked fresh pasta in a rich and indulgent tomato sauce. The aubergine is slightly salty and cooked perfectly so it’s smooth and creamy. The salted ricotta on top is lovely. Really good selection of drinks as well and I was thrilled that they served pear juice (if you haven’t tried it, you need to). Brilliant food and brilliant friendly service. Would very highly recommend!

Delicious food, lovely staff! Even gave me a 10% discount for being a student. Only issue was I ate so much I couldn't fit out the door! Will definitely be coming back.

One of the best places for enjoying pizza in Cardiff. Very tasty. The staff is very nice. You may need to avoid the busy time. Sometimes I really want to have dinner there but there were no seats left.

What a fabulous find. Super friendly staff, great quality food and very reasonable. You can eat in or outside. Great selection of quality wines and soft drinks. The pizzas were amazing so fresh and very large. The service was nice and speedy and not over intrusive . Large menu plus special options truly authentic Italian. Opening hours are good - a superb find and we will be back.

Never eaten homemade pizza in an Italian, but was worth every penny, stunningly kept restaurant with a huge fresh Italian menu, the wines are deffinetly worth a study , huge range to choose from. I went for the cotto pizza, tomato, mozzarella cheese, cooked ham and mushrooms. It was stunning , huge 14inch pizza , the dough was crispy, puffed and full of flavour. Just like a terminator " I'll be back " . ❤️

I adore Calabrisella and we have eaten in and had takeaways before. Always found the food to be excellent and authentic but the takeaway we ordered last night was rather disappointing. We ordered Barchetta Calabrese to start. At a price of £10.50, we were disappointed to find a small, cold and stale piece of bread with very little accompaniment. We even joked that the delivery driver had got peckish en route and eaten half of it! My husband had the mandrillo pizza which he really enjoyed, and I had the Hawaiian calzone. It was tasty but I think maybe it should have been in the oven a little longer as it wasn't as hot as I would have liked and not all of the cheese had melted. Don't get me wrong, we have had so many positive experiences that we will order again... just maybe from the Canton branch. And I advise anyone to stay clear of the Barchetta Calabrese, total rip off.

This is a really friendly, family run restaurant. The staff are extremely welcoming and ensure that your experience is enjoyable. The food is excellent and freshly cooked. Would certainly recommend.

This is a gem of a place. Really welcoming and friendly the staff make every effort to make your our delightful finding room for us even though we hadn't booked on a Saturday night, keeping our drinks topped up and being generally cheerful and charming. The pasta was amazing and apparently the pizza is pretty good too. Tiramisu for desert was so good I had some to take away ;). definitely somewhere I will visit again.

Stunningly good pizza as always. 'Special' cod ravioli - barely the size of a starter and actually not that nice - £18.95 ?? Are you avin a laugh? We weren't. Why would you compromise great local italian in that way?

Just ordered using Deliveroo, portion size is an absolute joke, pizza was freezing and spaghetti carbonara was actually penne pasta with just white sauce poured on top !!

The pizzas are delicious, the strawberry ice cream is the nicest followed by the chocolate and the service is brilliant. Well worth a visit! Wiliam aged 8!

Pizza was shocking it was 10 min before the closed and the pizza was shocking I’d never thought pizza from there would be so bad. Very disappointed I spend over 50 quid and you’d think they’d make an effort.

Lovely duck pasta had, but would change the order of ingredients listed as definitely less duck than other things. Had a lovely time even though I'm lactose intolerant and can't eat half the menu 😅

Sorry guys, bad review coming. We ordered a pasta dish, pizza and side salad through deliveroo. It was cold and the pasta dish was tough and tasteless. Of course we heated it them up but the pasta dish that alone cost nearly &15.00 was tasteless and tough. I asked others to taste it and they agreed. I phoned, no answer, I emailed, it didn’t work, I used the contact facility on web site, no response. This restaurant has great reviews but our experience was really bad and the fact I couldn’t speak with anyone having spent nearly £40 only to put the food in the bin is not on.

Came to celebrate a suprise birthday a last weekend. The table was a ready slightly later than planned. But it had been a really busy weekend in town. They were so accommodating and took our orders in advance so service was quick and for a large table we all got to eat together. Staff were lovely and attentive, they even very kindly allowed us to bring along a home made cake that they helped serve. Was a great evening and would recommend a visit if your new to the area or just love authentic Italian food.

We enjoyed our meal at Calabrisella. The pizzas were delicious and the pasta and lasagne dishes were excellent. Great service too.

Excellent Arancino and Pizza. The service was lovely and they were very patient with us and found a table for 3 even when we didn't have a reservation.

I have eaten here before and it has always been great. However this time two of us had really tasteless meals - risotto with prawns and spaghetti a la vongole. There was no salt at all ! The pizza was fine . That said the staff were lovely . Just that the food was disappointing.

My first time here and it was absolutely great. I generally love Italian food and this is up there with the best. My favourite starter, arancini, didn’t disappoint and was one of the best I’ve had, had it come with a little tomato sauce it...

We had a limited time reservation - they needed the table back after 90 minutes. We happened to be able to be in the area early, so popped in to see if we could be accommodated then, no problem. Then, excellent service from one of two front-of-house young ladies, superb food prepared in a nifty pizza oven with decorative mosaic on the exterior - tough decision for two of us, the pasta menu was calling us quite strongly but we all had pizza. Altogether a great meal. If i lived in Cardiff, i suspect i would be visiting very frequently. As it is, my next visit to South Wales will almost certainly involve a meal at Calabrisella.

What a great meal we had. 8 of us and all had great food. Instead of stsrters we ordered olives and bread. Best olives I've tasted. All but one of us had the vegetarian risotto for mains which was outstanding. Not huge portion but satisfied...

What a fantastic place! I visited last night as part of a large group (we took over the whole venue) and I was amazed at how well the team of staff handled us, they were so well organised - food was brought out in a logical way which really added to the experience as you didn't end up with just one or two people on a table eating while the rest of the table waits (as can often happen with a large group). The food tasted great, with a few vegan options, and reasonably priced, too. There was no issue at the end of the evening when people wanted to pay individually, either, which was also a bonus. The staff were lovely, too. I couldn't recommend this place enough.

This was my first visit to Calabrisella in Cathays and I really enjoyed my visit. I went at lunchtime and there was a really nice atmosphere which was helped by some rousing Italian music in the background. The menu is vast including the Pizza menu....

Excellent service. I called in to see my son in Cathays on the way back from a business trip. I was able to park easily a couple of streets away. We had a very enjoyable meal with excellent service. The restaurant is in the heart...

Booked for a team lunch and everyone was really pleased. The team at the restaurant were very accommodating when we had one more than we booked for join the party. Food was quick and delicious.
