The best fish and chips shop in Aber

Good quality food but the staff is a bit chaotic. The interior looks a bit outdated but in a charming way. Hard to find a parking place but it's very central in Aberystwyth. It's definitely worth a try. You might like it or not.

It's a chip shop. It's 2024. They won't sell you a bag of chips on a card unless you spend over £5. I know some libertarian wingnuts want to keep cash going, but refusing to take cards under £5 is ridiculous. Card companies charge a %, not a fixed fee, so what's the difference. On the plus side, it was completely empty, so presumably they have some other strategy for making money.

Just arrived and wanted some nice local fish and chips, and we saw this place on our way back from grabbing some supplies at Tesco . Don’t bother with the touristy spots near the sea, this was a really good fish and chips.

Brilliant fish and chip takeaway and restaurant 😋, we had fish and chips and peas with a tea and a coffee, fish was lovely not greaseie at all chips were lovely, only down side is the space between the table but there again I am 6,5 lol . Thanks guys .

Nice family run restraunt, food was okay and the price was alright for what it was. The milkshakes are made with cat milkshake liquid. Confusing menu when dining in, the seating might need a revamp too.

Visited Aberystwyth for three first time and tried their fish and chips after a recommendation from local. They were amazing and the staff members were polite to cater for our needs…:)

A quick, cheerful and cheap fish and chips! Cheap on price, that is, not quality-- as it was quite a treat. As uninviting as the place looks on the outside, I do recommend you check this place out :)

Got over charged for curry sauce, which was not hot enough, Had jumbo sausage and chips curry sauce £7.90 so that made curry sauce £2.40 so over priced or over charge said peas and curry £1.10 Came across as staff being rude Ask they ask what you want as soon as you walk through door No parking

On holiday near here and called for sit down meal we both really enjoyed it ,fish ,chips and peas or curry sauce, black coffee and tea .

This place is awesome. Food is cooked fresh to order. Not greasy. A real gem! We will definitely return. The inside is a bit run down but it sort of adds to the character of the place!

This place is a great old school fish n chips eat i'n. Take your time and fine inside. Have a pot of tea. Enjoy all the stories going o'n at the other table. And eat a great plate of haddok o'r cod and chips. Light batter o'n fish. Taste potato i'n the chips. Was great. Yes that gravy with my fish and chips. Just wanted to dip a few chips i'n as a starter. Fair Play.

One of the few places that has not changed since moving here in 1989. The quality of the food is excellent. Very friendly, great portions. Best chippy in Aberystwyth if not mid Wales.

Lovely piece of lightly battered cod. Portion size small and chicken curry available but don't sell plain curry sauce?? Not expensive though so ok for quick stop off

Outstanding cod and chips. Some of the best I’ve ever had. Cafe is a little basic, with banquettes packed closely together, but a highlight of my visit and well worth the short walk from the centre of town.

Absolutely love this place! As soon as you step into the shop the staff greet you with enthusiasm, and are always up for a chat for anything whether it's a global issue raging around the world or just a good chat about the day outside the windows. The food comes out catered for you and the smell of chips is amazing! My personal favourite is a fish without batter, which I usually order specially. The fish comes out with a thin layer of nice crisp that makes a crunch sound once you bite into it, but the middle remains soft and juicy. The chips are looking golden brown and steaming coming out of the pan! Just the way they should be! The staff is working relentlessly behind counter ensuring all the guidelines have been met and each customer can be served safely amidst this pandemic. Definitely, the best place in town for a lovely fish and chips!

Visited again and little to complain about. My cod could have been slightly hotter but we had to wait for a fresh plaice for my wife which was very hot .Although offered a drink which was taken up they did not ask us about any other sort of extras which we only realised after that they were available because the new partitions obscured the list at the front and they were not listed on the menu cards. Surprisingly the seat dividers helped to make the restaurant area slightly more up to date ( whilst they are new and clean) an on going criticism of the restaurant. Well worth the slight walk from the crowded front.

One of my favourite places ever. Great great food. The curry sauce has chicken in it. 🐔 I look forward to this every year I go by. Make a point of stopping here just for this. Amazing friendly service with a lovely happy clean restaurant or you can take away. Thoroughly recommend ❤️

Worst chicken curry in the whole of Cardiganshire. Resembled a stale broth of boiled chicken bones. No rice available so reheated old chips. Not fit for a dog!

Not bad at all, lovely fresh fried Cod. Good chips too but the mushy peas were dull and flavourless.

I have no desire to go here again. We call this "The Weird Chippy". Everything about it is odd. Right down to bits of chicken in both the mushy peas, and the curry sauce. The Fish N Chips? Not bad, not great. Just good. Decentish price. But weirdly small portions. Like, enough to comment on. When it reopens, go to G-One. It's so much better.

It was okay but nothing to write home about. Young girl behind the counter was doing her best but older lady who was obviously the proprietor wasn't bothered and we wouldn't recommend

We have visited this fish bar in the distant past and we found it pretty good, however, we came here about a month ago and we felt that the chips were perhaps reheated.We thought that this could just be a one off. On Tuesday we were dropped off there by the local garage as my car was in for service. On entering the shop was completely empty. We waited only a short time. I had Minced Beef and Onion Pie with chips and gravy. I don't know why but I am in the habit of picking a chip off the plate with my fingers and biting the end off before I start my meal properly. As I bit into the chip it felt very crispy which was okay as many chips have a crisp coating. However, as I bit further into the chip I realised that the whole chip was hard all the way through. The entire plate of chips were the same as were my wives. The Pie was alright and so was my wifes Fish but, we both agreed that these were the worst chips we had ever eaton. My wife didn't eat many they were just too hard. I am a bit of a die hard when it comes to chips so I ate most of them making sure that they were well soaked in gravy first but still they were very hard. We didn't make any comment to the owners as they are very nice people and we didn't want to upset them on the day. However, we have to say that we will unfortunately never eat in there again!

Very very nice. The man knows how to cook fish. They don't call it central fish restaurant for no reason. Try before you buy.

Oswestry Motorcycle Club ride out to Aberystwyth converged on this chippy based on the photoshoot of the F&Cs mushy peas and gravy and we were not disappointed. The staff, food and venue are top notch classic chippy and we would highly recommend you drop in.

We had a cod each and shared a portion of chips and ate in the restaurant. Really tasty food, friendly staff and great value for money too. Would visit again next time we’re in town

Proper chips good fish clean visited before with family variety of food all good staff attentive and owners keep them on their toes in a friendly way seem to know a lot of them as regulars

My wife and I were in town and were really in the mood for a fish and chips. My wife had salmon steak which was a very nice size. I had standard fish and chips, which had fish actually in it. I'll be back
