Lovely friendly place. Great for a good breakfast or lunch to get your day started. Dog friendly. Good food and staff happy to make accommodations to the menu to suit needs. Highly recommend, a great little find on the high street.

The Coffee Break is always my first stop for breakfast when visiting Ilfracombe. The cafe does a great Full English and never disappoints. The staff are always cheerful, attentive, and helpful, the cafe is very clean, and the prices are great value. The Coffee Break is also great for an afternoon coffee or tea and always has a few fresh baked items. Highly recommend the Coffee Break Cafe!

Visited on Monday 28/11/22. On our mission to test out 11 of the town's Tearooms/cafes. This one was a 6/10. Decent menu but mad customers. The staff running the cafe were very friendly and approachable. On our visit and when walking past the site it seemed to attract an older clientele and allot of smokers.

On a very cold day we stopped at the Coffee Break Café for a great cooked breakfast (£7.95) including a warming cappuccino, before doing a section of the South West Coast path. Staff very friendly. Dogs allowed and our little chap joined us under the table. Give this café a try.

The is the friendliest café in Ilfracombe, totally unpretentious with a magnetic atmosphere, you will want to return again and again. the staff treat you like a close friend and the food is second heaven, its the breakfast club of the South West.Well done.

Whilst on a weekend away my partner and I ate here for breakfast. The staff were friendly. Especially Steve (I think that was his name), he was flat out making drinks and talking to regular customers but provided service with a smile! The food was good, simple but good value for money too! Homely atmosphere. Would recommend.

We fel into this little independent cafe for a light lunch and coffee and were warmly welcomed. We had our dog with us and he was warmly welcomed too! I ordered a poached egg on toast with avocado, which would ordinarily have been served with two eggs, but the two young men serving didn't mind adjusting the ordr. They also subsequently reduced our bill, which got our vote. A super find, so much more friendly than a chain coffee shop.

Went for lunch today. It was lovely. Very friendly people. Food was fabulous and daughter in law very happy with her cold coffee. Can highly recommend this establishment.

We've visited a couple of times now and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. My daughter even left her coat behind and the man who works there ran after us to give it to us, which was kind. The breakfast with fried bread is one of the best we've had and the other food is also really good. It's also reasonably priced. We will be back, thank you.

Had a drink everyday from the cafe and we had s cooked breakfast it was excellent no grease can not fault the service

We had lobster and crab and it was amazing. The service was excellent too. The food arrived quickly and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Our little dog was allowed.

Popped into coffee break this afternoon with my family as we had just arrived in ilfracombe it was extremely busy, what i wasnt expecting was how fast and welcoming we were made to feel! The owner was very polite and welcoming and also very helpful we asked to change a few things and it was no hassle at all! The whole staff in general were spot on, the barista was a funny guy made us very comfortable his customer service was Astar i couldnt fault a single thing! The food was impeccible busy and we didnt have too wait long, piping hot and delicious! Would definitely recommend this cafe too anyone! I guess we will be back tomorrow and for the rest of our holiday! Thank you coffee break!!

Was worried when the colour scheme changed that other things may have changed too. But no. Same friendly welcome , great value and yummy breakfast!

Visited for a late breakfast, good selection and friendly staff and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend. Cleaning and sanitising between customers and sanitising of door handles etc which hasn't been the case with all places I have visited.

The staff were very welcoming and overheard a conversation about the wifi then just slid a card with the wifi. Loved the staff.

Good value for money, very clean and obviously well-run. Tables being disinfected and social distancing observed, though not appreciated by entitled and rude people on holiday. Coffee Break has a "laughing waiter" and pleasant staff so it's not a bad place to visit. Not known for its healthy eating or adventurous food. Fairly basic menu but the staff and service are a cut above the rest. Possibly the best coffees you'll get on the street. Coffee Break has free WiFi.

Excellent food great atmosphere and one of the best breakfasts I've had in years. 4 days out of 5 been here only missed t he one day because of going out and constantly great food. Very friendly staff nothing is too much trouble.

This is the first time we visited this cafe. It was open from 9am . There were 4 of us eating and they were very flexible if we didn't want something we were asked if we wanted a substitute. The food came out piping hot. Great service and friendly staff. A bonus dogs are allowed

My husband doesnt like strong coffee , the owner said he would do a one shot latte . mine was a normal latte. My husbands was just right. We went back again during our stay and he rememberd us , The food we ate was lovely hot and tasty too.

Passing through Ilfracome and dropped in to the Coffee Break. The staff were friendly and helpful. Decided to have cake with our tea and coffee which was a good choice and we both had ice creams after. Will definitely return when we're back in Ilfracombe.

We visited as we were looking for somewhere that did a cooked breakfast with fried bread. The staff were so friendly and made us very welcome. We all had something different as it was lunchtime and the food was lovely, good quality, good portion sizes and well cooked. The coffee was also really good. We will be back

Today I took my family out for the day this place was amazing. They meet all of my requirements for the day as I needed somewhere that was Dog friendly A range of selection for my children Easy for my disabled dad to get to a table And a great prize I would 10 out of 10 recommend My family love the food and I loved the welcoming atmosphere

Coffee Break on Ilfracombe High St. is excellent. Standard British food done well and cheerfully. The coffees and the food are really lovely and all the staff are really friendly and helpful, making it a joy to visit Coffee Break. And they can actually cook ! Most other local cafes wouldn't even poach an egg for you while their prices can be shocking. The management here are perhaps from Poland, and to be absolutely frank they put most others (this is more than just a Cafe) to shame. Coffee Break is absolutely professional and they also appear to value locals, which is now unheard of in Devon, and they probably don't turn away customers. Unfortunately, Ilfracombe eateries have always closed early and their opening times have always been distinctly random. You have to get in for meals before lunchtime, if they're open, to be sure of a decent meal or just use Wetherspoons. Trust me: this has been happening for years and well before the pandemic and lockdowns. Yes this is a long review but never mind! Here's why Coffee Break is so good: in the village five miles away where we're staying for the week, we can't get a table and we aren't welcomed anywhere. Their prices are really high. Businesses claim they are fully booked when often they are empty and just won't put themselves out. But we've had all this before so we just order out and won't be going back to the village. We couldn't even get Fish and Chips in the village - weird booking systems, refusing to talk to people, and long queues. No Fish and Chips available after 6PM. At the seaside...So when we're next in the area we'll be staying somewhere else, travelling to Ilfracombe Coffee Break for food, where we're welcomed and valued. Thanks to Coffee Break and well done!

Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent food, amazing service, great prices. We ordered chicken wrap. It was made fresh😍 tasting delicious!! although be aware waiting time is slightly longer than expected. Staff very friendly. Pet friendly place. :) Highly recommended:)

Lovely brunch with my 2 little girls. Excellent service very family friendly. Clean and good social distancing measures in place. Really enjoyed the food and would definitely visit again.

Stopped for all day breakfast with my kids. Staff offered to swap items that my kids didn't like for alternatives which was nice. Food is pretty basic but it's nicely cooked and we enjoyed it. We'll be back.

Visited with family and friends while on holiday. Just popped in for some lunch as many cafes were shut due to the time of year. The table was cleaned before we had taken our coats off & the menu pointed out to us. We ordered at the till & everything was brought over. The food was delicious & well priced & the staff were lovely. Really got the feeling that nothing was too much trouble. Only two toilets (one of each) but they were spotless. A super end to our holiday.

I don't tend to buy food out much but seeing the prices on their menu tempted me. I was not disappointed. The food is nicely portioned with attention to quality and their breakfasts are really good. Your typical fry up but the fried bread wasn't over greasy and the bacon was crispy, just how I like it! My friend had an omelette and it was the biggest I've seen, a good price too for such a generous portion. The staff were friendly and polite, we even met the manager as he came to our table to ask if the food was ok. Excellent service for a little cafe. It's definitely a gem on the highstreet and worth checking out. The cafe itself and toilets were nice and clean and nothing smelled of fry up like some cafes do. It was a very nice relaxed and friendly atmosphere, we will definitely come back!

Clean but dull. Average rating for this tidy and presentable Coffee Shop on Combe High Street. Good service, low prices, and decent toilets. Nothing to complain about. Probably suitable for its location, its clientele, and for its location. A few cakes and ice creams are available, but the 'Coffee Break's cliche menu is neither exciting nor tempting.

While in Ilfracombe on holiday, we used this place on the scruffy High Street. The customers are decent, the girl behind the counter is efficient and the manager is friendly. The cooks are competent. Our breakfasts were okay at a fair price (£6). Coffees here are like everywhere else: expensive, but we don't pay for those things. All in all this is the least one should expect and it's really nothing special. Staff mentioned they close early too, like most of the local cafes, so no good for teatime or dinner.

We visited today with our family from Ireland. All 7 of us had all day breakfasts and a drink (drink included in the price for £5.95!!) absolutely fantastic. All lovely gentleman. Thanks again, we will be back!

Nothing wrong with the food. Nothing wrong with the surroundings. Decor is nice, and the tables and chairs are clean. Prices are reasonable. Service was OK. Toilets clean. Only one problem, and it's a common one.We just felt uneasy about a camera pointing at our table, watching, and no doubt recording, our whole visit. Next to the till is a TV screen showing different angles.It's unsettling. Sometimes, people want to meet in private or even secretly. Absolutely nothing is going to happen in a small cafe like this. Ilfracombe is not Kabul or Damascus. It's not a hub of terrorism. If cameras have been fitted at the insurance company's insistence then another company should be found that doesn't demand them, and those insured should protest at having to install them. Although it's an agreeable place to eat, I'm not sure if I want to go in there any more and be spied on. In any case, the cameras wouldn't stop anything if someone has the determination to misbehave. If you're having an illicit affair with someone, don't go in a British cafe, pub or restaurant, because you are vulnerable to blackmail if TV cameras are watching you.

We only had a coffee and a cake, which were good, but the highlight of our visit was the loos which were immaculate!

Reviews can be long and uninteresting so I will make this simple...... This establishment excelled in its provision for Breakfast for my wife and I. The welcome was warming, the service first class and the food was excellent. Don't take my word for it, try it for yourself.

Very friendly staff, wonderful food and drink. All cooked as it should be not a long waiting time table service is brilliant. A lovley place to have a quiet lunch while walking in the area clean and looked after.

Ilfracombe is notorious for its breakfast destinations, so the standard is held to high regard. Upon entry I was greeted by happy front of house staff, both of which from what I witnessed are well known and loved by regular visitors.

This is the best cafe in town food is excellent service is excellent and atmosphere is excellent they even do a Sunday roast and you can eat in or take away they also have a vegetarian option and nothing is to much trouble would highly recommend this to everyone

Very nice breakfasts and no sky high prices Proper vegetarian sausages none of the nasty green ones, good table service. Breakfasts come with a drink of your choice, it doesn't have to be tea or coffee. very happy

For its great food and service, this has been top place in Ilfracombe. We will not be returning to Coffee Break but the establishment still scrapes an average score instead of 'poor', which the service was for my wife and me.

Was looking for somewhere to have breakfast and stumbled on this place. It's on the main road, easy to find, the staff are lovely and the portion size...wow. I saw they had a Full English for around £5.50, it had the standard; one sausage, one bacon, one this...that, the option below it is a double portion for around £7 (both include a drink of your choice)...massive portion. I'm the type of person to order the "For two steak" in a restaurant...and essentially lick the plate clean. So when I say this portion was massive and WELL worth the money, you can trust me.

Called in for a coffee and ended up having food here my husband had the deluxe breakfast which he said was one of the best he had tasted I had an omelette which was delicious and very well presented the gentleman serving us was very courteous and helpful and prices were extremely reasonable very enjoyable visit

Being up the high street this cafe is away from the hustle and bustle of the harbour area, where all the cafes were packed out this morning and is well worth the short walk to get there. Good coffee and tea, but most of all an exceptionally delicious breakfast. We had two eggs and beans on two slices of thick cut toast all beautifully cooked and reasonably priced. By far the best breakfast we’ve had. Lovely clean and comfortable cafe. We will be back.

Yesterday was without doubt the most miserable weather of the year so far - driving wind-soaking rain with visibility a pathetic 10 feet . I was cold, wet, dejected and feeling very sorry for myself as I arrived at this smart, clean little cafe.

Thoroughly recommend this cafe. Really friendly atmosphere. Locals and visitors treated equally well. Staff really eager to make sure everything is perfect. Nothing was too much trouble. Reasonable prices. Good quality coffee and food. Will definitely return if I ever come back to Ilfracombe.

Easily the best eating house in Ilfracombe, and with a full English restaurant menu. Generous portions, efficient and professional staff and reasonable prices. It's our No. 1. Average price for a hot meal with a pot of tea: £7.50. Also serves takeaways.

Worth a visit to Coffee Break, High Street, Ilfracombe. Great food, drink and fantastic people. They offer a quick, friendly service, a great selection of food and drink. They also have out door seating. It is a real favorite with the locals too.

Had a veggie breakfast and a smoothie- no complains everything was amazing, will definitely be returning. Bless the man that was rushing around because he was the only one on front and it was very busy, he handed it amazingly. Free wifi is always a plus aswell:)

Arrived at the cafe on a busy mid morning Thursday- the gentleman serving was on his own and very rushed of his feet and apologised several times but we were happy to wait as we were not in a rush just hungry.I ordered a baguette and my husband a full English breakfast; we were told there was a delay in the food as there was a sudden rush of people ordering.My milkshake arrived which was really nice and good value compared to other cafes, the food arrived and was really nice –my husband’s tea didn’t come then the guy remembered – we felt sorry for him as he was truly rushed of his feet but still coping really well.Really nice food and must be doing something right as packed!

Fantastic little cafe. That doesn't pretend to be something it isn't. Food is freshly cooked and plenty of it. We all enjoyed our meals. Place was very clean and tidy.Service was polite and friendly. Child friendly too. Can't fault it.

Coffee Break serves the customers from the Indoor Market next door. A useful service that means you can eat without having to decamp into the cafe.

I decided to have sausage and mash from the menu and a mug of tea. The cafe was clean and warm and the staff very friendly. The meal was delicious. I recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Clean and functional Cafe on Combe's High St, gets busy and obviously popular. But we really do accept the lowest standards these days after our catering industry died off and we were left with amateur dabblers.Our meals were acceptable and not expensive, but I wouldn't have paid more for them. Too much lettuce and not much else on what was a really poor effort for what they call a salad and drink with a bill for £7 or £8 each. The 'special' salad was absolutely risible so lord knows who their chef is. They aren't trained professionals but the staff were not friendly nor welcoming. Nobody smiled even once. This is Ilfracombe, it won't change in future. Shame, because it needs to, and quick.

This little cafe is brilliant, has fantastic food and great service. It's nice for to be treated as being the important customer for once!!The food was great and put together really nicely. Breakfast was perfect. Not to sure in the sausages but they were still good.Coffee was exceptional and they put some real effort into making sure it was perfect. Baby friendly and has toilets!
