El Tapas Gra in Derry

Really great tapas. The bread, meatballs, cauliflower and other items were tasty and well cooked.

When we arrived our table was not ready, we were left standing at the bar for 20mins without being served any drinks and basically ignored. When the table was finally available the food was ok.

Easily one of the best places to eat in Derry. Selection of 7 dishes shared as a couple and each was unique and absolutely delicious. Even the selection of cocktails and drinks was excellent and the service spot on. Will be back again.

El Tapas Gra was recommended by a few friends and it did not disappoint! Warm welcome on arrival and everyone was friendly and helpful throughout our meal. We ordered a mix of things from the menu and everything was freshly prepared and delicious. There was so much to choose from and we are looking forward to coming back and working our way through the menu! The restaurant had a lovely relaxed vibe which suited us perfectly. A mix of couples and large group. Thanks for a lovely time.

Food was really nice. The woman there was nice but the guy who served us was really not. Unhelpful, unfriendly, made it easy to see he just didn't want to be there.

I was really looking forward to this after reading positive reviews but I was a bit disappointed, after 45 minutes of waiting for our food I asked the waiter and was told our order hadn't gone through, which thankfully we were compensated for. Our waitress had passed us multiple times and didn't check if we were ok and it was obvious we were waiting a long time for food, the place wasn't busy so I felt she could have at least checked in on us. The food itself was just ok, the gambas pil pil is tiny and not fit for sharing as there were only 4 prawns in it, not great when you are paying £18 for three plates. We also had the churros which were nice but very small and only 4 churros so not great for sharing either. Overall I found this place to be very expensive and not worth the money. I won't be back

Food is delicious - cauliflower dish is divine, broccoli with peanut rayu is so delicious, calamari is perfectly flavoured best alive had in a long time. Nice wine menu too.

Worth the trip for the Chorizo Bon Bon’s alone! Lovely relaxed vibe. Attentive service. Every dish was outstanding. ¡Sobresaliente!

We went to Ancho which has just opened upstairs in El Tapas Gra and the food was brilliant! The tacos were full of flavor and really tasty, the pulled pork was my favorite. Finished it off with ice cream tacos, I'll most definitely be back!

Great food however we were rushed off the table about 20 minutes before expected / booked. Asked about 5 times in 5 minutes if we were ready to leave - if this could be fixed it would be a great spot.

Woe, brilliant restaurant, they reccomend that you order at least 3 dishes. It turns out that is plenty. The wine was lovely. Our waiter is from Spain. Would defo come back here.

Incredible place. Have had tapas in Spain multiple times past years…this kicks their asses . Food really is 5/5 .. genuinely best tapas we’ve ever had . We were in Derry overnight and booked a table. Two adults and two teenagers. We’ve eaten a lot of tapas and this was some of the best we’ve had anywhere. Tapas can sometimes be a little bit samey from place to place, but at this place, they borrowed from spice dishes and ingredients from all over the place. Miso, Asian flavours, allsorts! That might not be to everyone’s taste, but we loved it. We also had plenty of tapas classics, like patatas bravas and gambas pil pil, which were fantastic. Staff were absolutely delightful. Friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend this place if you’re visiting the Derry area.

Good food but way too many waiters, two of which had no English and must have been training on the job.

Blown out of the water with the quality of food here. We ordered 8 plates between two (including nibbles) and really couldn't say a bad word. It was phenomenal. The service was fantastic.

The lads serving were great, Devlin and Ordrain were doing a great job and done the restaurant proud.

I love Spanish food and I can say that they know how to do it. I’ve been there 3 times. All them I had delicious and tasty food a real Spanish taste, nice selection of wine and desserts. Nice service David is always friendly and helpful. A good option to have dinner every time that visit Derry

Best service experienced in Derry. 90 minutes and went through 7 different dishes which was plenty by the end of it. Loved it all and cant wait to go back.

We were visiting Derry and our hotel recommended this restaurant. We really enjoyed it. The food was delicious as was the wine. The service was great and such friendly staff. There was a great buzz in the place which was lively for a Monday night.

Very nice food and and attentive service. The alcohol selection is reasonable and varying The only thing I found was the squid was a little in the thin side but all of the other five dishes tasted grand, although perhaps a little Luke warm

A good selection of small plates. Waiter recommended an average number of dishes for 2 people ( 5 to 6). We had Crispy kale, caramelised cauliflower, charcuterie sharing board, halloumi fries,and tomato bread. All good quality and delicious. Lots of choice, including meat and fish plates. The food came quickly, we were in and out in less than an hour, but would be a great place to take a group of people, and keep ordering more dishes to extend the meal and allow time to chat.

after seeing good reviews on TripAdvisor we decided to and try El Tapas Gra. It has a nice atmosphere and we ordered two glasses of wine. I had three lamb and my wife the meatballs. We also ordered a salad and chips to bulk up the meal as 13 pounds for lamb tapas was a lot. It took about 20 minutes which was a lot. I know tapas means small but it really was ridiculous the portion sizes for the price. 4 pounds for a few salad leaves! Not even a slice of bread is given for the abundance of sauce on the meatballs. The waiter wasn't interested when we said it was very small, he said order more food, I said at those prices not a chance. The bill was 45£. 7.50£ for a small glass of wine! We left hungry and disappointed and got a takeaway. In this day and age its ridiculous, throwing money away on average but way overpriced food!

Mostly very good meal of small plates, the only exception being a very disappointing broccoli dish. The chicken thighs and meatball dishes were especially good. Service was a bit sporadic with some pairs of plates arriving quickly, others somewhat slowly. It was a busy Sunday night, not helped by a particularly rowdy group which didn’t do wonders for the atmosphere and was quite annoying. The music was on the loud side too, but then I am old! We’d go again if in Derry.

SHAMEFUL IF YOU COME FROM ITALY DO NOT ENTER Only spicy food, poor quality, and invisible quantity (it is not possible to ask for 11 euros for jamon and serve two slices on the plate, or 7 euros for two croquettes) hasty service almost as if they wanted to chase you out of the place by asking over and over again if we wanted another, truly scandalous as this cannot be defined as a tapaseria having already dealt with this type of place in Spain and other parts of the world. Super not recommended 🤮🤮🤮 I have to put one star as zero is not possible.

Visited here for an anniversary meal with my wife. Staff very attentive throughout our visit. Tapas dishes were all very tasty however some of the hot dishes could have been warmer when they arrived. The churros were absolutely top class and were as good as any I’ve had in Seville or Malaga. Would highly recommend!

Wow, the food here is incredible. Tastes amazing. The service was good. Prices were pretty fair.

We stopped to eat something while we visited the city and we tried this restaurant with local food. David took great care of us and the service was very fast. We recommend the cheek, which was delicious and very similar to what we eat in Seville. However, in the Spanish tortilla there is still much room for improvement. Finishing the lunch with a cup of coffee was also worth it.

The food is amazing. Try the roasted cauliflower! Definitely would recommend this place. The waiting staff is very friendly, food is very affordable and the atmosphere is great. Also lots of vegetarian options

Cracking little Tapas bar in Derry. Would recommend it to anyone. Very cheap. I enjoyed the non alcoholic options.

Fantastic greeting by David, service was exceptional throughout, Katie made sure we were well looked after. The food was delicious, my personal favourite was the monkfish, although the lamb was a close second. Definitely worth a visit when in Derry, but I would imagine booking is advised as we went on a Wednesday evening and it was packed.

Para nuestra sorpresa, nada más entrar el restaurante tenía un toro, España no es solo toros, pero bueno, lo aceptamos porque es la visión que se tiene de nuestro país. Ya no contentas con el servicio, nuestro sentimiento empeoró cusndo llegó la comida, nos sirvieron unos pimientos de padrón que habían estado congelados, el sabor distaba mucho de lo que se consideraría español, pero lo peor fue cuando llego la tortilla, la echábamos mucho de menos, y a pesar de que nuesras expectativas hacia esta ya habian bajado, aun asi, consiguió no cumplirlas, una tortilla dura, que no se debe considerar española, eso no es ni tortilla ni española. Sinceramente, como españolas nos sentimos ofendidas, entendemos que sea visto como uj restaurante bueno, pero no queremos que españa quede manchada de esta manera, no le hagáis caso a todos los premios que tienen, son todos entregado por personas que nunca han probado la real comida española. Si sois de España, ni entreis.

A SHAME We are Spanish, we are here on exchange and we missed our food, excited we decided to go to this restaurant, with very good reviews and that claimed to serve Spanish food. To our surprise, as soon as we entered the restaurant it had a bull, Spain is not just bulls, but hey, we accepted it because it is the vision we have of our country. No longer happy with the service, our feeling worsened when the food arrived, they served us some padrón peppers that had been frozen, the flavor was far from what would be considered Spanish, but the worst thing was when the tortilla arrived, we missed it a lot. less, and even though our expectations for it had already lowered, it still managed to not meet them, a hard tortilla, which should not be considered Spanish, that is neither tortilla nor Spanish. Honestly, as Spaniards we feel offended, we understand that it is seen as a good restaurant, but we do not want Spain to be stained in this way, do not pay attention to all the awards they have, they are all given by people who have never tried the real thing. Spanish food. If you are from Spain, don't even enter.

Amazing spread of food. Took the parents we enjoyed every minute. We had the house tempranillo juicy, slight tannins... delicious. Food was epic, load of options....highly recommend the cauliflower, monkfish & lamb. Can't wait to go back!!

The burrita was fantasssstic. Great place and super nice attention

Despite the good reviews very disappointed. I know it was tapas but the piri piri prawns came to the table five small prawns in a bit if olive oil and a sprinkle of chiles Brie cheese cake with 3 small slices if bread that was hard with a smear if butter.

Most dishes were way too salty for us. Yet taste was quite lacking. The rather loud electro music ruins the atmosphere

The service was good, the food quality was good but the portion size was disappointing. Some dishes were so small they were laughable, until you remembered their cost. I've seen bigger postage stamps than the dessert.

finding a place to eat on Easter Sunday in Northern Ireland can be challenging. several of our original options were closed and we were wandering around downtown Derry when we saw this place. a quick check of TripAdvisor gave the green light. though we didn't...

Really a bit disappointed on this visit. Had a bottomless brunch forced upon us even though we hadn't booked it. Food a bit basic and bland. I thought tapas was to be relaxed but everything was hurried and we were constantly reminded about our allotted time at the table. Staff were nice but too much focus on getting us out! Pricey for all it is.

This is a FIVE STAR review. Everything was wonderful. The service was informative and impeccable. The food exceeded all expectations. The wine selection was a perfect pairing to the expertly crafted dishes. Absolute heaven.

Tasty wine, very good service. I ate padron peppers, aubagine, meatballs and a santiago tarte. All very tasty, especially the peppers which were seasoned with honey and almonds.

So disappointed with the service. We are a group of office colleagues who have been here a few times without problem and enjoyed the foods. But this time when booking the reservation it asked for credit card, so I booked it with my private credit card. We arrived and enjoyed the meals, albeit the head waiter was a bit rude and arrogant. Nothing or nobody told me that my private credit card will be charged for the deposit. So when the bill is produced the total amount have been reduced with the deposit to my private card, we asked nicely if this can be refunded because we want to pay the full amount with the company credit card. We were told no that they can’t or won’t do that. They just don’t want to know and refused to try to rectify the situation, so we paid the reduced bill at the end, and i was promised that they will send me the copy of the bill by email, and there is nothing so far. We won’t come back!!

We needed a light dinner as we had an unexpectedly large lunch. This Tapas bar was an ideal choice. Perhaps it is not a completely authentic Spanish Tapas bar, for example, they serve a boa bun. However, all the dishes we had were very good....

Best Tapas out place in Derry! Try the lamb, it's worth it

We visited on a Saturday for the tipsy tapas and it was fab. We really enjoyed the beautiful food and the drinks kept flowing. Highly recommend the cauliflower and the bao buns was lush also. Great service, great food and great fun.
