Franco Manca Cardiff in Cardiff

I'm probably just a bit old to understand the concept - I can't get my head round an 'Italian' that doesn't serve any pasta, or makes pizza from dough that everyone seems to leave on their plates or that thinks bruschetta can be improved with hot shrimp paste. The Italian 'staples 'of the past weren't broken, so they don't need fixing. Just make them the way they have always been made, but to a higher standard than the chains. Having said that, the staff were all lovely and I particularly liked the draught lager, too. I love Italian food, but I just don't get this place, I'm afraid. I also think that the menu had ridiculously small print and was very difficult to read. So, summing up my review, I guess that makes me a cantankerous, blind, old alcoholic. Oh dear!

We had an amazing experience at Franco Manca, this is my favourite pizza place in Cardiff, and took my mum and sister here after a show. My mum is gluten free and she couldn’t believe how good the pizza was!! Its been so long since she’s enjoyed bread! Nathan was a total delight, amazing customer service, friendly and just top service all round!! Thankyou so much for such an incredible time, it means so much as we never get to have family time, top food and top service was truly appreciated! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good pizza dough. Not super generous on the toppings for the price.

Booked online and was glad we did. We turned up Friday for our 6pm table and it was very busy. We were taken to our table straight away and the service was good, not too fast and just the right pace of ordering. Food was amazing. We ordered two grazing boards as a starter, you could easily share one of these tbh. Our son who is 4 had a lovely margherita pizza as well as the standard colouring in menu and pencils. Our main pizzas were great as well. We ordered a meat feast and goats cheese off the specials and an anchovy pizza. We also ordered a couple of beers of the specials board, both lovely - one larger and one IPA. The little un had a homemade still lemonade which he loved. Essentially excellent service and food. And the atmosphere is lovely and relaxed although it can be a little loud due to the layout. Definitely visit again ! Oooooooo also saw a Welsh tv celeb 😬😁

Had a lovely meal out with work colleagues, the pizza was great and our waitress Lucy was brill!

Absolutely amazing, we are always welcomed in a friendly manner. This time we tried the vegan special. Pizza was delicious and arrived quickly. I’d like to thank the team, especially Anna, Lucy and Isabelle for making out night every time.

We (dad, stepmom and I) ate there for lunch on 9th March 2024 as we visited Cardiff for the Six Nations France v Wales match. The food was really great, but more importantly the service was incredible. The restaurant was super packed as it was a match weekend, but everyone was very nice and patient (I live in London but my dad and stepmom are French and don’t speak English). Special thanks to Chloe – I asked her if she had a good brunch place to recommend for the next morning and she was super friendly and happy to help! She went out of her way to retrieve the name of a lovely place she knew, and even if we didn’t go there in the end as it was unfortunately fully booked, we appreciated her kindness so so much, especially considering how busy the restaurant was! This was EXCELLENT service, she truly is a gem. Thanks again Chloe. 🥰

Very nice place that was very clean and comfortable with plenty of seating for customers. The range of food on the menu was extensive and imaginative and of reasonable price. The staff were very polite and friendly and although it did take a while for me to be served my food I could see this was because they were busy which I see as a positive so didn't mind the wait. Will definitely return.

Came with a group of 5, and was seated immediately despite being a walk in. Food came fairly quickly and was brilliant. Pizza is quite filling, but they allow you to take it home! Would recommend the pesto dip.

Good sourdough pizza, prompt service and lovely staff. Popped by here while visiting Cardiff, and staff were fabulous and accommodating to us changing reservations due to traffic. Perfect for a quick bite and a lovely looking restaurant. Great selection of toppings available too!

Eloise served us with a smile, aiding to find us our perfect meal. The pizzas were so good to eat , soft, fluffy and actually very tasty (especially coming from a person who eats only flavourful food)! The food was great and the desert choices were even better. Eloise was very kind to help us and quite enterprising too.We went for the veg special and the meat special, both did not disappoint. Hats off to the management for the wonderful culture built here. Ambience was on point with great viewing of the street. Worth a visit and not very expensive. Kudos to the team. Will be back for more. Thanks again Eloise!!! 😊

Amazing. Great job done by great staff. I have been multiple times. Always good value and service. If I had anything negative to say I wouldn’t put it in social media, it destroys businesses and lowers staff morale. I would ALWAYS address any issues at the time and to the staff, then the management would know and could choose to address any issues.

First time at Franco Manca, and I'm in love! Great atmosphere, lovely staff, and the pizza - oh my Goodness, it was so good! Lovely menu, not too much choice, but more than enough, and really good quality. Love that you can see the big stone oven, too. We will definitely be back! Thank you! :)

Relaxed and friendly staff, amazing pizza for incredible price. Ingredients were fresh albeit on the light side but proved to us that with a good sourdough base that's properly cooked, you don't need to pile up the toppings. Such creativity in the ingredients that you wouldn't find elsewhere. We got 10.50 for a pizza and soft drink and 12.50 for a pizza and cider. Loved it. Thanks so much!

Very positive experience overall. They had problems with power so couldn't honour our booking or seat us inside. However, the manager did a great job, phoned in advance to apologise and offered us a free takeaway pizza each, which was delicious :)

had dinner here last night and we asked the waiter to if we could use our unidays discount and showed them our codes and the receipt was £26. According to the offer we expected it to be around £20, didn't know where the extra money came from. Staff were very rude and barely spoke a word.

So my second time at Franco Manca was just amazing! The staff in this place is just incredible 👌🏻 They knew the menu inside out and helped me and my friend pick the perfect pizza. And let's talk about the food – oh my goodness, it was incredible! 🤤 The sourdough base was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, just how we like it. Toppings were fresh and you could tell🧑🏼‍🍳, which made every bite a taste sensation. Franco Manca never disappoints, and I can't wait to go back for more! 100% recommend

The staff were rude and unhelpful. We waited 15 minutes to just place an order. When our order arrived the waiter slammed the food down in front of us and we all had to swap pizzas. A polite restaurant would place the correct meal in front of the person that ordered it. The pizza’s were beyond soggy almost a mush like consistency. And we didn’t even get the entire order The waiters need more training and a visit to charm school.

We ordered two sourdough pizzas. They were both incredibly spicy and the toppings were sparse. For the price and quality, there are far better pizzas in Cardiff.

Had a great time!! Very quick and expert service. I was mainly looked after by Sanjana who was knowledgeable and pleasant. Came raving hungry, left full after one starter and the pizza. It's a personal size pizza, and the quality is undeniable. Didn't take a picture cause I rushed to dig in. Left really happy, highly recommended.

Great pizza place in centre of cardiff. Is fairly priced we hadn’t booked but they managed to fit us in. The pizza was nice nothing special but was still nice for the price we paid. Amazing Pizza, amazing service from Jack, very cheerful and helpful even with deciding on what sauce to have. Disappointed only that my wine was in a normal cup as they do not supply wine glasses.

Our experience was amazing because of our waitress, Isobel. We walked in without a booking as we did not know that you could book now (would 1000% recommend booking, this place is the dogs.) the real hero was Isobel. She opened up a whole floor of service for us, and ended up waiting on 14 tables at once. She made extra money for the company, as well as provided the best service. Give this girl a raise ! We had an amazing time, 10/10 would recommend.

Not a huge fan of chains but the pizza is always decent and the stilton dip draws me in. Staff can be hit or miss if im honest and the starters are very small, more of a nibble.

Had a lovely lunch here and was served by a wonderful staff member Chloe who was always around and asking if I needed anything. She was so smiley and really made it feel like a great/relaxed atmosphere. Chloe is a credit to the company and went above and beyond in her service and friendliness.

A busy early Saturday evening in Cardiff on Feb 24th when we called in on spec for something to eat before going to the Bill Bailly concert. We hadn't booked so were really pleased when a delightful lady on reception said that she could accommodate us. She seated us straight away, took our order and ensured that we needed to be served promptly so we were not late for the concert. It was our first time at Franco Manca & both of our dishes and desserts were delicious! This lovely staff member from Romania was so nice and told us that there is a Franco Manca in our home town of Bristol, where she had previously worked, so we'll definitely be paying a visit there! Many thanks!

Traveling in Cardiff I came here on my first day and liked it so much I came back two days later for dinner! Recommend highly - pizza margarita with buffalo mozz and fresh basil.

We booked a large table on a busy Saturday afternoon and, although we had three drop outs last minute, the staff were welcoming. They were understanding of the multiple highchairs and prams we had cluttering up the place, and again, didn't make us feel awkward or in the way. They let us stay longer than our allotted time and we had a really good time. The pizzas were absolutely delicious and the service quick.
