Lovely and large fish. Flavourful with a perfect texture, and lovely chips and special curry sauce to boot, coincided with lovely friendly service.

A proper North West chippie in the South West. The best fish and chips I've had in a long time. A lovely firm, white piece of hake in light crisp batter with plenty of chips and mushy peas (with a complimentary small side of 'Irish' curry sauce that went very well with the fish). My husband had the 'Hollands' meat pie (especially brought down from Manchester) and it was excellent. Lovely friendly couple running the place too. I wish all chippies were this good!

Came here while in dawlish it was absolutely amazing as usual. I had chicken nuggets my partner had fish cake and we had chips, best chips ever. Quick and sufficient service. food nice and hot can't fault this place at all can't wait to be back.

Amazing Fish and chips also get scraps if you ask. Really friendly staff

They serve crinkle cut chips, which is s rarity, but a few of them were too thinly cut. The length of time to be served and to receive the order was lengthy. Staff need to remove gloves and then replace when using the till for hygiene.

When we decided to visit we checked out reviews on good old seaside fish and chips and when we read the reviews we knew we had to try, and we were not disappointed, the weather may have been gloomy but the fish and chips made up for that. Freshly made to order light batter and great great crinkle chips, had gravy with mine but of course my husband had mushy peas. Do not miss out if you find yourself in the area yummy.

Really good on the allergen front. Had all the information ready to go, but more than that they had the allergen chart posted for you to check yourself. Food was good too.

Best gluten free cod and chips in south Devon.

Great place for fish and chips and a gluten free choice too. Thoroughly loved the food and friendly service will def be back next year when on holiday. Shame Harry missed out on the free sausages 😕

We popped in here on our last day in dawlish for supper ...2 large haddock and chips freshly cooked.. the sever was lovely the fish cooked perfectly ..one of the best I've had ..I will be back on my return to the area

Called in here as we have Coeliac in the family. To our amazement there was an entirely gluten free section on the menu! The children were thrilled to have options to choose from. We tried most things on the menu over the course of two visits.... The food was too delicious not to visit more than once! The staff were super friendly and treated us as though we were locals, the food was cooked to perfection - nice crispy batter all round. They even had gluten free vinegar for the chips. I felt really safe eating here as the staff were all really knowledgeable about gluten free eating and everything was cooked in separate fryers. A must visit if you're looking for gluten free fish and chips in Dawlish!

Very friendly welcoming staff ,polite and friendly .Dog friendly which was great as worried about leaving him outside . Fantastic light crispy batter and beautiful white flakes of fish perfectly cooked Chips very well cooked and not at all greasy. Will definitely be back for future visits.

Every time me and my family have come down to dawlish we've made it a must to stop here for food! Love it, amazingly generous portions, great taste, great price and great people!

Last year when we were Down on our holiday in Dawlish we came across this chip shop with great Google reviews, so we thought we would give it a go, needless to say a year later we were down in Dawlish again and have returned to Frank's Frying as we were so blown away with the quality and size portions, really great food and very friendly lady who serves, this is now our family favourite for when we are on holiday! Loves that the chips are crinkle cut too like who would of knew that would make such an awesome little difference!! The Lloyd Maunder Cajun chicken burger is beaut! If you're in the area debating to try this place, do yourself a favour and try it!! You will be back

Spent a week in Dawlish first chip shop we came across took fish and chips back to the park we were on couldn't believe it mouth watering at it's best tried a burger the next night you couldn't believe how much you can get on the bun do not pass the plaice ( get it plaice fish ) by the photos on the walls sent me back to my childhood 2/6 big thanks all round

Fantastic gluten free battered fish

Freshly cooked, large portions (even the small I had) and really tasty. Friendly staff and reasonable prices - well worth walking the extra 200 yards from the seafront 😉

I visited Frank's twice while I was staying in Dawlish. Having Gluten Free options at a chippy was my main reason but the food was so good I ended up going twice. I had the Gluten Free cod and chips with a Gluten Free curry sauce too, the food was excellent on both occasions. Really worth a visit if you are in the area, the staff were really nice and welcoming too.

We came as a family to try the chippy for dinner and we weren't disappointed. Lovely fresh cod and chips and our grandson devoured his chicken burger dipping it into the curry sauce. The staff and owners are lovely and treat everyone as though they are loyal customers. We had our dog with us which they spotted and gave her 2 sausages, saying she was a good girl waiting as it was busy. If your down in Dawlish you should definitely try it out. No pics this time as I was Starvin Marvin.

Vegetarian chips! Not fried in animal fat and not cooked with meat items. Also a decent vegetarian menu. Portions were massive and the food was really lovely.....as were the staff, despite being hot, busy and incredibly short staffed! Definitely the best fish and chip shop in Dawlish.

Great chip shop, lovely people, and the nicest fish and crinkle cut chips available in Dawlish. Been living here for some time, and been to them all but this place really is head and shoulders above the rest, well worth the wait if busy.

Wonderful little chip shop, staff catered to dietary requirements immediately and were so friendly, such a jovial atmosphere whilst waiting for the food. A great experience for someone needing gluten free food.

I can thoroughly recommend the food from Franks Frying. My husband had chicken and chips (fresh and delicious). I had a yummy pie and chips (went down like a dream). They do the nicest gluten free battered cod that we've ever had. Really decent portion size and it's nice to have so much gluten free variation. Easily now my favourite place in Dawlish for take away. Lovely staff and a proper job!

Was recommended Frank's Fryer by customers of ours who raved about the place in December last year (2021). What struck me was the fact they do Gluten Free stuff which is an absolute blessing and a treat for my wife Becs. Well we finally got to visit this absolute gem of a place. Friendly, down to earth Lancashire folk running the place. Brilliantly clean establishment, and indoor seating if you fancy eating in. Not a full on restaurant but stools positioned along the front of the shop. The food was absolute top draw. My wife who is a celiac, finally after 20 years can have more than just chips. She had a beaming smile on her face as she saw a GF menu. She had a superb crispy GF battered sausage, chips and a lovely GF curry sauce. I'm not GF but I must say the batter on the sausage is better than a normal battered one. The curry sauce was very tasty and a good spice kick to it. I had the cod (1 size and absolutely huge) with large chips and mushy peas. The portions were plentiful. It's very rare in Devon to get a decent large portion. Took me a while to adjust from Birmingham massive portions to skimpy Devon portions when I moved here back in the early 90's. Franks place are generous! Honestly, Frank's Fryer is superb and we will definitely be back. We cannot find fault with it based on our first time visit. TIS BRILLIANT! Thanks guys for a superb Fish Friday meal 😀 John & Becs x

We were told to try Frank's as it was the best chippy around so sat we decided to treat ourselves while we were at the van and can I say we were not disappointed at all, I had pie and chips daughter had jumbo sausage in batter hubby had fish and chips. We always share chips with my daughter (she only has a mouthful at best) so hubby ordered a large and a medium well we could have just done with a large because the portions we massive, I will definitely be using Frank's again and suggesting to everyone that stays down in dawlish to go there. Thankyou

If I could give 10 stars I would! Hands down the best takeaway/chip shop I've ever eaten from! They know exactly how to run a business and are consistently perfect. They care about their customers and it shows! Can't praise this place enough.
