Gusto Trattoria in Sefton

Really enjoyed a Sunday lunchtime visit to Gusto to celebrate a family birthday. The food was lovely, with a great menu with plenty of vegan and vegetarian choice: even the picky children cleared their plates. Our table was good, eight of us but tucked away so it felt private. Great customer service, we weren’t rushed and the music wasn’t too loud so we could actually talk! Will definitely return

We have been to Gusto a few times now but this is the first review I’ve written. As always we really enjoyed our meal. The ingredients are good and food is really very tasty. Pizzas are especially good. Staff are friendly and service was fast.

We have never been disappointed at Gusto. The place is cosy and warm, the staff are friendly and helpful and the food is delicious. I know that it may sound boring but we always have the same menu items; vegitali parmigiano, lasagne al forno and sea bass. Thank you Giorgio, another very enjoyable meal.

Such a fabulous find , can’t wait to return , we have recently purchased a Tastecard so just looked where it could be used in Southport We have been visiting Southport for many years and never noticed this restaurant before , will defiantly return The food was amazing , service really good and a lovely ambience in the restaurant A welcome change from pub food & chain restaurants

Absolutely disgusted! Always come to Gusto. Been coming for last 9 years. Service is not always the best but food is lovely. Visited today for my mums birthday. 4 adults 1 child (3). Had 2 taste cards so ordered 4 main courses and a child’s plain pasta £4. Asked for the bill and had been charged for 3 main courses. Challenged this as had 2 taste cards. Was told by the not so friendly waitress that the manager ‘ George’ had told her to charge us for 3 meals and give the child’s PLAIN pasta which cost £4 for free!! Could not believe this. A taste card states 241 on mains and starters. What he had was not a main course. It wasn’t even a starter. The waitress laughed in our face as we challenged this and conveniently George had left the building! Shame to say after coming here for 9 years will not be coming back. If George does not want to offer 241 he shouldn’t be on taste-card. Be careful what you order and what your paying for!! .

Wow Didn't disappoint the meal was fantastic, been once before about 3 years ago. I had lasagna and was really tasty, prices are reasonable, staff are fantastic and really helpful ... defo worth a visit if your in Southport 👌🏻

We were lucky to find a table, as it was a Saturday evening. We had a lukewarm welcome from a man behind the bar. He came back to get our drinks, when we couldn't remember he walked our dismissing us. We gave our order to a young lady. My friend ordered lasagne and garlic bread, I had the octopus salad with roasted potatoes. The salad was divine, with crunchy veg. We both opted for the lemon sorbet, which was zingy and refreshing. We'd definitely go back

Extremely condescending staff with such poor attitude. Service was seriously bad, the manager was on his phone during the whole of the service. Food was good if you were prepared to wait an hour. Overall disgusting experience. Please dine elsewhere because the staff aren’t bothered whether you do or not.

One of the few places in Southport that offers a decent choice of plant based food. I especially like the atmosphere of the place , it is quite pleasant and extremely relaxing a really enjoyable experience.

The service was quick and welcoming. I had the cheese and mushroom pizza with added ham. My wife wanted risotto, preferably prawn risotto, but there was only ham and pea risotto on the menu. However the waitress said she would ask the chef if they could make a prawn risotto. The answer was the chef could. We were both pleased with our meals.

Not having been to Gusto for some years I can honestly say it will be a long time before I go again. Upon entering the venue I was completely ignored by the waitress who passed me on numerous occasions but eventually waved from behind the bar to the table by the owner. The food was acceptable but having the table booked for 7.30pm my daughter and I were made to feel uncomfortable with the lights being turned off at 9pm except for where we were sat.

Disappointed all chairs worn and felt generally unclean, food ok but felt rushed and and customer service not great felt it was very disorganised- would not recommend or return

Great food, terrible treatment from the OWNER of the restaurant. I took my sister for a dinner and there was a birthday party going on. The party was very loud and was bothering everyone else in the restaurant. I kindly asked the owner if he can go and ask them to lower their volume. He told me to go AND TELL THEM MYSELF and turned his back to me. How incredibly rude is that?! There were other customers covering their ears because the party was so loud. I can’t believe that the owner didn’t do anything about it. And he even had the audacity to have such a horrible attitude. If that’s how he treat his CLIENTS, I can’t even imagine how he treats his staff.

We were staying in Southport while attending the British Open. Thank heavens we found Gustos! It was the best food and dining experience that we had on our trip. We stayed in Southport for 5 nights and ate at this restaurant every night. It was amazing. The owner was on site and welcomed us every night. True Italian cuisine! Very reasonable prices. Fresh seafood prepared with incredible skill and beautiful presentation. As I write this I wish I were back there! Highly recommended.

Visited Gusto after being in town for a music festival with 2 friends. We were seated and ordered drinks, after a short look at the menu,ordered garlic bread to start. Beautiful tasty bread. Main meals were fabulous. Me and my wife had lasagne, absolutely superb and our friends had seafood dishes which they said were excellent too. We had a couple of drinks and also dessert. My panna cotte was lovely, as was the tiramaso. Lovely, friendly staff, and a great experience. We will return. Thanks.

Glad we made the walk to other end of Lord Street to where we parked as the food was excellent with friendly service. It would have been a bargain at full price too. We had booked a table for 6 and I went to the restaurant to see if we could eat outside and amend the booking. When I put my head inside the open door a lady (possibly the owner) said we are closed, I said I know she replied, good!! (Rude). She did manage to confirm the booking for later that evening and I left - considering whether I would return if that is the quality of service. Thankful I came back to see the contrast of two personable, friendly, easy going polish waitresses where nothing was any trouble (good for them). Once relaxed thanks to their welcome, the food came and was absolutely excellent the garlic bread, pasta, wine, everything. Worth a visit to this local business.

Came across this by chance on a recent visit to Southport. The resteraunt is small and was struggling with the COVID19 measures which it had to put in place. Saying that they are very conscious of these and please don't let that put you off.We had a wonderful meal the food was excellent and the staff extremely attentive. All very reasonably priced I would definitely recommend it.

Being regulars at Gusto, we'd really missed it during lock-down. They've implicated better safety measures than any other restaurant we've visited. The tables are placed behind screens, with food being delivered through a small 'hatch'. A lot of thought and effort has clearly gone into it and we appreciated the owner's efforts. This meant we could relax and enjoy the food. It was the usual excellent quality. I'm a particular fan of their lovely mixed salad and home-made dressing. Pasta was perfect as usual. It was so good to be back.

I attended this restaurant in my wheelchair, I am a vegetarian with my vegan Carer. What a wonderful establishment, they were able to cater for my vegetarian needs and my disability.

I have eaten here several times and each time leave wishing I’d had a maccies. I never write bad reviews but Jesus wept it’s the worst service I’ve ever had and the food is mediocre at best.You’re better off at Villagio or Trattoria 51, both brill local Italians where the staff don’t act like primary school dinner ladies on the rampage. The only thing this place is good for is having a giggle at the managers responses to any other bad reviews on here..Last time I ate here I had penne arrabbiata with a side of regret. I was also lucky enough to be aggressively educated by George, who has the personality of a dial tone, on what an arrabbiata is. Side note for management, unless your Gina De Campo I don’t give a flying focaccia about what should and shouldn’t go in an arrabiata.

Visited Saturday evening with no reservation, waited 10 mins for a table, staff friendly so no problem at all. Menu very much pasta/pizza, we both chose steak from specials board. My wife and I called in early on a Thursday evening and received a warm welcome and shown to a table.The restaurant was busy and soon filled up.My wife had a pizza and I had meatballs on pasta. Both dishes were very nice,Very pleasant evening and would certainly visit again when next in Southport.

We arrived and had to wait for around half an hour, however I had the prawn and asparagus risotto and it was sensational. The service was friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We were staying at the Prince of Wales hotel, which is just over the road, and fancied a meal out. I am very glad we chose Gusto. The restaurant is small, but very friendly. The focus looks to be on fish with a number of tasty looking specials. I had the pate to start and my partner had the asparagus, both were delicious. Gluten free pasta is available and the waiting staff took food allergies seriously. I enjoyed a spicy pizza and my partner had a seafood risotto that was on special. We enjoyed a gateau and tiramisu for pudding - the latter was delicious. The restaurant was well priced and had a good atmosphere. I understand the restaurant has developed a loyal following and we look forward to our return visit.

I eat here, on my own, on a regular basis and the calzone which is of a high standard, is the norm for me. The restaurant is cosy and I am always made to feel so welcome that each visit is a special occasion, I cannot fault the service which has always been very friendly and attentive.

Food good but service terrible. Had to wait 55 minutes for pizza, meanwhile lost count of the Deliveroo visits collecting pizzas.

This is a lovely restaurant to dine however due to illness we ordered a pick up order. It was amazing. Ready for the time requested. Fresh and good quality ingredients as always. Staff so pleasant and helpful. Recommend the Florentine Pizza. Penne Arrabiata Trio di Breuschetta and Al Pomodoro. A definite choice when visiting Southport.

Overall a pleasant evening meal with my husband . All food apart from my vegetable salad was good , but that salad was poor. It was only an appetiser but more effort needed. I got a bowl of mixed salad /vegetable leaves and a aubergine sliced and grilled. ONE tiny olive , more like a caper. No dressing no cheese shavings. At this time of the year when peppers and courgettes are at their best a bit of a mixture and imagination would not have gone amiss.

Called in for lunch on Bank Holiday Monday, food and service was really good, with a relaxed atmosphere.

It was Flower Show week and, of course, the place was packed - as usual. The atmosphere is really relaxing & welcoming and the staff were friendly so we really enjoyed our leisurely dinner. Georgio was back at the helm and it was good to see him again - working in the kitchen!
