Stopped here for quick pub lunch. Staff were great providing quick and attentive service. Their menu contained what you would expect from local pub. We had the cod n chips and the steak and ale pie. Both dishes were tasty and good portion size . We expected pub food and that’s what we got. We left satisfied. If I was looking for same I would go here again. If you are after something at higher level of dining don’t go to a pub.

Didn't eat here but visited during the day for drinks and made very welcome by friendly local clientele. The staff are also warm and friendly and the place looks pretty lively in the evenings. A nice pub with the ladies loos only a few steps up from the ground floor.

Except Murray and the rest of the Backstreet boys, to busy fixing there hair and looking in the mirror and don't get me started on the bad dancing lol Good thing the darts team is back to really raise the standard on customers

Sorry but this is a place to avoid on our visit the barmaid was suffering from a late night the night before and some of the clientele were in a similar state, more than half the beer taps were needing changing and no one seemed bothered or there was no stock. We didn't hang around to have food ,not even sure there was any on offer. Which ever Pub group owns this venue needs to take drastic action .

Have visited here a few times and always found the food to be really tasty we only have the OAP £5 meal deal and it used to be great homemade food and the pub had quite a good atmosphere with the Landlord being very friendly and always recognising our return. In today for the same £5 OAP deal the service and food tasteless. First when we sat at the table the waitress was sitting at the end of the bar having a mug of coffee! Eventually the Manager noticed us and got the menu sent over., Ordered soup YUK Oxo cube with bits of vegetables and some mushrooms in its terrible used to get lentil and bacon homemade. Then choose Macaroni Cheese again YUK, some pasta with a runny white sauce, probably packet. When asked if I enjoyed it said "not really "but that was it. Actually any pal ate it all up and thought it was okay. Had to ask person behind the bar speaking to others behind the bar to take our money, Wont be back, no atmosphere and questionable food. On leaving the same waitress had two mugs of coffee at the end of the bar!

Stopped here for lunch not a lot to say really - local pub with locals and greasy spoon type grub .. Husband had mixed grill and everything had been fried in a deep fat fryer... Service was ok and staff were friendly but food was a disappointment .. Shame as bar has potential to be a cozy old fashioned place but it's pretty grotty dark and cold... Wouldn't recommend unless you are a workie looking for fast and filling grub

From the outside the Harrow Inn looks like any other old-fashioned pub in any other old- fashioned street. Inside is the same (though renovations are coming soon) except for the menu. Our first instinct was 'this can't be right'. The range of beautifully cooked food and the value for money was literally astounding. Home made Lentil and Bacon soup followed by a steak was less than a tenner, and that was the most expensive dish. Service was friendly and prompt. All the food was freshly prepared and OAPs and Students were offered a two-course deal for a fiver. Under recently new management, this is an eatery which can only grow in stature. Day trippers ... head for the Harrow Inn

Friendly welcome from all staff, which was appreciated on a very wet day. We had excellent value for money. The home made soup of leek and potato was delicious. We had the battered haddock and chips, half portion, which was just right for our appetite. You would be hard to find better home made food at these prices.

We had a fabulous day out on the Borders railway and decided to spend 2 hours in Galashiels before getting on the train back to Edinburgh. Had home made leek & potato soup for lunch + drinks. Owners who took over in May were really nice and soup was delicious. Very reasonable prices and a really enjoyable experience

Une cuisine infecte et une ambiance très louche. Je vous déconseille cette adresse. Il y a d'autre lieux beaucoup mieux.

Been here a few times and always enjoyed the food. Prices are very cheap. But today, well I had my 11 month old granddaughter And requested a high chair and when it arrived I was shocked, don't think its ever had a clean. We then ordered our drinks and food and was just people watching , the bar man went outside for a smoke came in and started serving again, no hand washing then noticed the barmaid chewing her fingers or biting her nails again no hand washing , she then went on to pour a pint holding the top of the glass!! Needless to say the food got left. Get some hygiene procedures in place !!

We do love this venue, the food is better than my mother used to make. It is cheap and cheerful and the staff are great. Strangely enough it is \always there when we need it.

Got to Galashiels hungry at 3-30 pm.Harrow Inn nearest to the carpark. My wife & I chanced the "Oldies" menu,2courses for £5.We both had homemade cauli & broccoli soup, then battered haddock & homemade chips. The soup was hot & tasty & satisfying. The fish was a revelation.I'm a Lancashire fish & chip fan & I declare that this fish beats Rick Steins, which I eat every May day in Padstow.Go & enjoy. The food, the welcome and the atmosphere at the Harrow are excellent. However, if you take a quick look you may miss this great pub. The food is first class with the Eyemouth fish and real chips made from potatoes are exceptional. Even in places charging 3 or 4 times the amount seem to want to feed people chips that are strangers to potatoes. The young man who runs the place makes you feel as if you are a regular and the other staff are very cheery and really helpful. The beer is well kept and well served making this the place to eat in Galashiels. For us 'baby boomers' it is another blessing £5 for a two course lunch as good as you will get anywhere. Pay the Harrow a visit, but as I said 'Don't look with your eyes'.

Had few meals and I did like food - lentil and bacon soup its nice and eymouth fish with hand made chips its also good. But ther is one thing - place need good clen up and toilet is like from good forbiden place. And this gives me to think if cleanenes of pub and toilet is not satisfying how must be in the kitchen away from your eye site. I just hope its totaly opposite.

Stopped in here with a friend for lunch. The place certainly has character and initially I thought the surroundings were a bit grim and tired looking. I was not sure what to expect but our food when it came was lovely. The soup was obviously home made, and delicious and our meals were well presented, there was very generous portions and also very good value. The staff were friendly and there were other diners that appeared to eat here regularly - and I can't blame them because the food was better than your average pub grub. Already looking forward to my next meal there!

We went to the Harrow Inn and were greeted by not only friendly staff but the locals all of them characters mad our time spent there a great experience. Must recommend the home-made soup and steak-burger!! This place is under rated and I can't recommend it highly enough! Slight down point (as my parents are not smokers) the folks hanging around the bar were in and out for a quick puff and brought the smell back in with them :-( Other than that - the toilets need a good clean but the food and atmosphere were amazing.

By far and away the worst fish supper I’ve had in a long time. We went in because it was convenient after watching a rugby match, won’t be going again. I feel ripped off.

We visited the New Inn during our 4-night stay in Coldingham. It was quiet & we opted to eat in the bar. We both had chicken highlander (chicken stuffed with haggis & wrapped in bacon) covered in sauc

Mackays was absolutely the best fish and chips I had tasted in years. The portions were very generous, and the menu was surprisingly wide-ranging too.
