I love the atmosphere of this place, and the service is acceptable (lots of different people attending you, and no uniforms, so hard to tell staff from patrons), but we were very disappointed in the food, in particular my wife's fillet steak - was supposed to be medium, but as you can see from the photo, was essentially well done. Having frequented the Guildhall Hawksmoor relatively frequently, and this being my second time at the Air Street venue, this is not what I expected. They took the steak from the bill (the least they could do), but the trip to London for a good night was somewhat dampened by this.

Now you would expect for a place that specialises in steaks that they would be perfect. No. Not even slightly close to perfect, it was far from! Ordered a rump, medium rare and it was medium well apart from a tiny bit in the middle. I asked the lady ( when she asked if everything was ok and I said it’s not great ) if she thought that was medium rare; she said yes and walked away. I can cook, It definitely wasn’t. Having owned a pub myself, I eat it and threw 50 quid down the drain. Don’t spend your money here. Terrible!

The service was attentive and friendly, although one side dish did not arrive, but when raised, it was refunded. Steak main very good quality and cooked to perfection. Hake main somewhat tasteless and disappointing. The wine was of distinctly average quality and massively overpriced with a mark up of 385% compared to most suppliers. Far better to pay the corkage and bring your own (£5 on a Mon, £25 Tues-Sun). Overall, there were too many issues to recommend.

We come to Hawksmoor Air Street about once a year and it’s always exceptional. It’s pricey but you absolutely get what you pay for - the best steak in town and service from people who know what they are doing and care about you having a good night. Special thanks tonight to our waiter Peter, who remembered us from a previous visit. Peter was first rate, a real credit to Hawksmoor. Some restaurants don’t get this but a good waiter will elevate an evening to something special and that’s exactly what he did. The Chateaubriand was wonderful too. Worth every penny.

Their take on a full English breakfast is only available at this Air Street branch, and on Saturdays only. I think they’ve nailed the beans, harsh browns, tomatoes, mushrooms and the addition of their notable grilled marrow. It added a rich flavour that pairs beautifully with the sourdough toast. While the honey roast gammon chop was delicious, I did find it a touch dry. The sausage was decent, but not remarkable. The gravy was also quite thin. I am not the biggest fan of black puddings anyway so unfair to judge. I think meat lovers would be craving more meat. £50 for two people, we were really filled. The service was great and very friendly.

Overall, it was just so-so. British food is famous for being bad, but is it as good as you can get anywhere else here? This is a restaurant where you can get good value for money when you want to eat a luxurious steak. I ate the steak with mackerel salad on the side, and the salad was more delicious.

The food ,we thought was not only to the expected standards but beyond. We had the chateaubriand with trimmings and some extras. Superb and a memorable day for us. Would I go back again, absolutely. Booked for a special birthday occasion and will not return. The tables were so close together and cramped, the noise level was so high you could not have a conversation and the lighting was so dark you needed a light on the phone to read the menu. The food was very good however the starter Yorkie was cold. After hearing rave reviews I was disappointed.

Ever since I saw SortedFood’s review the Hawksmoor breakfast back in 2019, I have been dying to try it myself. And good lord did it live up to the hype! This was quite possibly the BEST cooked breakfast I have ever had, and I’ve had a fair few. The absolute standouts of the dish were the black pudding, beans, sausages and tomatoes. They were divine! I also really liked the interior design, particularly the long, stretching, dark wooden bannister as you walk up the stairs to the dining area. The only disappointing thing was that the toast had gone hard and the food was already going cold. Otherwise an excellent experience, I look forward to returning for their legendary steaks!

Was a bit disappointed by a recent Saturday night visit to Air Street. We'd been last year to Hawksmoor Borough and really liked it, from the clubby ambiance to the attentive service to the food. But this time around, Air Street felt noisy and chain-like by comparison. Service was spotty (had to chase down the server a few times, server took away the drinks menu after 1st order, etc.), and not really knowledgeable (e.g., when I asked for a bottle of the Porter, one of a very limited beer selection, and got a blank stare from the server until I pointed to it on the menu). Steaks were reasonably good, but the sides were lacking. Frankly the side-dish marrow bones were the best in terms of value and flavor; about half-price compared to the entree version with the only difference (as far as I could tell) being the entree version came with 2 slices of bread (only 2!) and onions on top of the marrow. I kind of felt overall like Air Street was a TGI-Fridays version of the Borough location. But still with Borough prices (e.g., dinner for 2 coming out to 230 GBP with entre, 2 mains, sides, 1 dessert, and a few drinks). Do better, please, Hawksmoor. I want to beleive!

Disappointing. For the Sunday roast, we expected far better. The roast beef was actually extremely chewy and difficult to cut. The potatoes were impossible to cut or eat, just a weird texture. The vegetables, gravy, and Caesar salad were good. Servers were nice. So 2.5 out of 5 as you can't deliver a bad roast for the prices.

We came to the restaurant on Canary wharf booked in advanced to celebrate our anniversary. I visited your restaurant couple times before with a friends. And I haven’t see it completely busy, any way you have a lot of stuff working there. We came in the nice mood to enjoy our anniversary day and food. The restaurant was not full 100%. I think it was about 30-40 % of free tables. We ordered Champaign and oysters and also steak. Your waiter asked us how we would prefer our steaks, we said that we want medium rare, we ordered wine as well . Oyesters was ok, champagne was ok, the wine was good. But When our steaks were brought I was surprised the steak was so small and so difficult to cut ( I literally have to saw 🪚 it), and nearly 30% of my steak was fat. our wine was served about 15 minutes later after our steaks, We remind him to bring our wine and he brought it probably another 5 minutes later. Another thing (this is not waiter’s fault) : my steak was so fatty, so chewy and it was RARE (it was really Raw). to be honest I mean I would enjoy to eat raw meat if it is nice and tender. at your restaurant it was fat and chewy, and anyway it was not exactly what I requested. I have to ask waiter to take my dish and to cook my steak as I ordered . Again I have to wait , it didn’t took 5 minutes as you can imagine, anyway the meet was steel raw, a bit closer to medium rare I would say… but as you understand overgrilled from outside. So shame that we came in our anniversary ☝🏽not in bar, ☝🏽not in cafe around a corner and not ☝🏽in a fast food restaurant , We came to your restaurant and chef don’t know how to cook steak in your restaurant? 🥴😳😵‍💫👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 The service was not so sufficient and impressive. Feels like I want something from waiter, I begged him. The waiter looked tired. But it was just lunch time, not evening. You should order a bit nicer meet for customers and train chefs to cook a bit better. My anniversary day lunch was so disappointing. I didn’t enjoyed food, I did not enjoyed service. It was very sad, that in your quite high level restaurant you have these problems. I am added some pictures to show you how I have “to saw “ the meat. And you could see the holes in a steak as evidence that it was very difficult to cut your steak (and i have to put a lot power to hold the steak with my fork). also you could see the colour of the slice of steak and also the proportion of fat (about 25-30% of the steak). No red wine on a table but it was ordered in advance. I wrote my feedback on the email provided on the official website, and nobody responded to me since then. 6 months… and nothing happened. It is just showing that nobody cares about provided service in this restaurant. It is very upsetting and disappointing.

Busy Friday night, but quite a few free tables as the pre-theatre crowd was leaving. Seated right in the entrance to the loo. Not 'by' it was actually 'in' the entrance. Asked to be moved, largely ignored, but despite there being plenty of other free tables we got moved to by the waiter station so had someone standing a few inches away all the time. Asked to be moved again or to have the table cancelled, while phoning up nearby Goodman to see if there were any last minute tables. Finally the manager took charge, as he realised we were about to walk, and gave us a very nice table. Food service was excellent, as was the food. Just a real shame about the seating, would probably not come again because of the staff attitude.

I booked this for a lunch with my niece as we were having a day out in London. We arrived and couldn't find our way in so sauntered round the back where we found an open door and went in. We thought this was the official entrance btw. We got sat down and drinks were brought to us - all good so far. Then a very frosty, presumably manager, came and said we shouldn't be in there yet as it was before their opening time of 12 noon. At that point we should have stood up and walked out as there are plenty of nice eating places in and around London Bridge. We persevered. Read the menu and ordered Steak & Kidney Pudding. Waitress came back saying they didn't have any. Amazing isn't it that it was the cheapest thing on the menu at £22, and, there weren't any other customers but us but they didn't have any, mmm.... We then felt obliged to order something so ordered fillet steak which was a whopping £44. Our whole bill, with two G&T's for me and one for my companion, came to £171. We willl not be going again as they snook the service charge on at £18+ if I'd have noticed I would have taken it off. OK, anyone reading this will say 'Hey you're in London'. Well we will be going to London again but we won't be going to the Hawksmoor ! Waitress was lovely tho.

On arrival was told outside by a woman with a clipboard that they are closed due to a water leak and that they have emailed and called me. They called me three minutes before arriving, cancelled via email 10 minutes before arrival. They knew we had a birthday in our party as I mentioned it when booking, no alternative given, no suggesting to get a table at one of their London venues or indeed any empathy at all. It was very disappointing. Such poor communication skills from a place which charges a lot and which I have visited frequently in many locations across the UK with clients, family and friends. I certainly will take my business elsewhere.

The Noise level is barely sustainable, I feel sorry for the waiters and waitress working there constantly. Because it is so busy, the service is inevitably average, waiting too long to get your food, especially the mains...and again it so loud inside that the waiting feels eternity. And what I really did not appreciate is when asking for when our order will come, I am told straight away by the waiter that I should wait for my meat to be cooked !! it has been three months since our visit to the restaurant. My husband and I had horrific shellfish poisoning. It was so bad that we were compelled to extend our stay in London by an additional day. This cost us the price of an additional night stay in our hotel room. We also paid a hefty (£400) penalty for having to rebook our car rental. I reached out to the restaurant to report the incident. We have both experienced shellfish poisoning previously. We knew very well what was happening to us. The restaurant said they would conduct a "independent investigation.". Surprise, surprise, they took no responsibility and blamed it on other factors. Nevertheless, they promised a gift certificate to cover the cost of our meal in consideration of our negative experience. We still haven't received anything from the restaurant, despite repeated follow-up emails about a month apart to the contact person who handled this issue with us. The experience at the restaurant, shellfish poisoning aside, was marred by a very loud room, and an even louder group of six drunk men who were seated next to us. We had hoped they would leave shortly after we were seated, as it appeared they were wrapping up their meal. Nearly one hour later, they still hadn't left. They kept ordering and getting served more rounds of drinks. We finally asked the management to speak to the party to lower their voices, but it really did not do very much to be helpful. The food was fine, except for the food poisoning. Portions were generous. This is a very loud restaurant. Deafening. We are just incredibly disappointed that the Restaurant will not honour its commitment to us.

I used to go to Hawkswmoor all the time - back in the days when it was super hard to get a table reservation and the popularity of the Hawksmoor chain was on the rise. Those were the days when you felt lucky to get a seat at the table and share the same space as the uppity staff in the restaurant. Then I stopped going to Hawksmoor. So on the occasion of my ex-partner's birthday on Sunday we returned to Air Street - a place we so many times some ten years ago. I booked - easy enough to get a table and even easier to adjust the time of the booking by half an hour. Things were looking good. Sadly it didnt take long to be reminded why I stopped going to Hawksmoor. I was slightly early - say 15 minutes. When I went to check in at the counter adjacent to the bar, the Hawksmoor customer service of old came flooding back in the manner and disposition of the greeter at the desk. She could not have looked down her nose any more without falling over and treated me with such an off hand manner you'd thought I had committed a first degree crime. Sorry to be so plain but I really do wonder sometimes HOW people like this get a job serving customers and how the KEEP a job they obviously hate so much. The food seems to have lost it's gloss - the Sunday roast now a little less spectacular than it used to be. The room was buzzy, the food when it can was perfectly nice. our table server was a great guy and we got a little birthday cake sticky toffee thingy too which was good. But for me the lasting memory will be a reminder of why I stopped going to Hawksmoor. Staff are there to serve customers - not in a servile way, but in a respectful, polite and welcoming fashion. If you cant do that you're in thr wrong job and if you don't do that, you'll make customers never want to return. Like me.

I spoke to Hawksmoor the day before to confirm the table and reminded them if something was possible like a candle or birthday message with dessert (I offered to pay any costs involved) and was again told no problem they would take care of it. I was going to mention when we arrived, but when we checked in our booking, we were wished a happy birthday so I assumed it was in hand, but when dessert came there was nothing, so it was an anti-climax. It was just disappointing as service was slow all evening and on both starters and desserts, drinks order was served after food arrived (I always think drinks should arrive more promptly, but certainly before the food arrives)

The restaurant was very busy on a Friday night and quite noisy, but with a good atmosphere. The staff were very good and allowed us to move to a bigger table. The service was excellent. Food not quite so good as the last time we ate at Seven Dials. That was easily the best steak we’d ever had, this time it was good but not exceptional, as you expect for the premium price charged. Not sure if we will return.

Went on a very busy Friday night. However service was good , no long waits , and we felt comfortable as no one rushed us. Food was good , bone marrow was a novelty for us but went down well.

amazing will go again the next time in london this was my first time visiting london and not my last . i came to my reservation late and was still greeted friendly and was accommodated which is not so common in NY . my server name was vanessa i believe she was very attentive, kind, and speedy. food was good which was a big surprise to me since london food reviews are extremely bad ! steak was well seasoned lunworth mash was too strong for my liking and the drinks are amazing i had the golden hour. presentation of food is terrible though

I had an enjoyable lunch in the company of some old friends. We were very well looked after by the staff and enjoyed the atmosphere on the restaurant, which was busy. However two members in our group had to raise issue on the steaks they were served, which were considerably over cooked relative to what they are asked for. These comments were acknowledged responded to by the staff, but surprising in a restaurant that specialises in steak. My own steak was cooked perfectly, as one other member in the group.

The food was really nothing special for that price. Our meat was chewy. The sides are really tiny. A Cesar's for a tenner? Mate, how much is lettuce? The sticky toffee pudding was truly excellent. I'd come again just for dessert, if allowed (I guess not). Oh the full fat old fashioned was also delicious. I'd return for dessert and a cocktail. The service was alright although kind of hard to find our waiter at times. Which brings me to the atmosphere. It's bloody loud in there. Too loud, everyone was shouting. The waiters were shouting at us, asking us to "scream" if we needed something, other diners were shouting, we were shouting. And this place is massive. And impersonal. Overall not an experience I'm keen to repeat on the whole.

Shocking! My fillet steak was so salty it was inedible and had to be sent back to the kitchen. It was replaced with an equally salty example - at which point my 2 guests had eaten most of their mains. Over seasoning is, unfortunately, a common failing in many restaurants, and can usually be forgiven. In this instance however the car crash service was the straw that broke this camel’s back. It was a perfectly cooked and beautiful piece of meat, but fillet cannot stand over seasoning. And one has to wonder about the health implications for regular visitors when salted to the degree experienced. It wasn’t just the meat - the chips, which I did (just) manage to eat - I was hungry! - had me so thirsty afterwards that I had a disturbed night, continually waking needing more, and yet more water throughout the night. On reflection, it was the smartest thing to send two steaks back, and to refuse a third attempt to get it right. Cocktails arrived AFTER our starters. Wine only arrived when chased, and well after our mains had landed. The manager handled it well - she was extremely apologetic and sympathetic. 2 of the three aperitifs were comp’ed (why only 2 out of three?) and an offer of a free steak on return was made, but that wasn’t the point. The damage had already been done. I have to say that I have been a loyal customer for many years, and have eaten at Hawksmoor restaurants in Edinburgh, Manchester, Air Street, Seven Dials and Borough but this last visit will certainly be my final time. My guests are as unlikely to return after their first experience of a Hawksmoor, so the damage was done in more ways than one. Shame. Real shame! Sayonara Hawksmoor. I wish I could wish you well, but I just can’t.

Fantastic food in a bustling setting. Good service but not a spot if you fancy a meal in a relaxing atmosphere. The hum drum wasn't an issue for ourselves especially with some lovely wine and phenomenal oysters to start.

Hawksmoor is always a great option for a steak in London. The Air street venue is especially good, as its quite a large space and so plenty of room between tables. Nice cocktail area for pre/post drink too.

We arrived an hour early due to our show finishing early so enjoyed a drink, but our table was ready really quickly. Wine selection was excellent, and the in house sommelier’s are a nice touch. Food was delicious, everyone around our table enjoyed different starters and mains. Very slight downside was it was very noises, making conversation difficult at times, but that can’t be helped in a busy restaurant on a Saturday evening. All in all, 10/10 from our party.

Really lovely food but service lacked a bit. We were never sure who our waiter was and we had to call someone over to ask to order after sitting for 20 minutes. Also, in other Hawksmoors we’ve been to, they cross off the board the steaks and sizes that have been sold but that didn’t happen here which lead to us trying to order something that wasn’t available. Food was amazing but I’d probably just go to a different location. You expect more from the service when everything is so expensive.
