Hideaway in Elmbridge

Great find for breakfast! It is a small but very nice cafe with a view or the river. Staff were very friendly and the food was really tasty! We had to sit outside because they were fully booked and we got really cold as they do not a have heaters.

I booked a table for brunch online, and the staff opened the conversation with offering if we wanted to sit outside (sunny day). We took that opportunity and it was great! Food was a good selection for vegetarians, vegans not so much. The quantity and quality of the food was great, I got the cauliflower hash - defo recommend and my friend got the eggs royal. Cocktails too! When leaving the out area, you have to walk down the back of the deck and come in from a sliding door - not the emergency exit door you used to go out - there's no handle on the outside. I will be coming back.

We absolutely love coming to the Hideaway , the food is so tasty and the ambiance is just perfect, last night we came to celebrate one of my twins 18th Birthday, we had raved about your place but she was a little hesitant, but she loved it and will definitely recommend to her friends

Great hidden location with good selection of food, drinks and service. Unfortunately prices seem to have got a bit carried away considering the value for money. Otherwise staff are always extremely friendly and welcoming.

This restaurant is stunning in terms of location and the inside interior. The owner should really invest some money in decorating the front, it looks like a dock yard. It would be good if they also introduced more food options. I was shocked to see they didn’t have a full English on the menu

We recently dined at Hideaway for a business lunch and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Our group appreciated both the delicious meal and the vibrant atmosphere. We were impressed by how efficiently the waitstaff managed the bustling environment. The venue is stunning, and the food is delicious. We will be back very soon!

We’re still dreaming of the amazing brunch we had at Hideaway: chicken & waffles and French toast with berries & bacon. The service was fab and iced coffee also very tasty. Can’t and won’t stop recommending Hideaway to all! ☺️

Good service but..one of my pet hates.. the plates were not warm. The food rapidly lost heat and was basically cold at the end. Such a basic error and considering the premium price it was disappointing. Didn't leave a tip (which had been added to the bill)

Food was ok but small serving size and very little veg or salad, and quite expensive. For example, the prawn starter had only 3 tiny prawns in it. Expected more for the price.

A beautiful marina establishment alongside the river. Seekaway-> Hideaway! The perfect place to come for brunch after a walk along the river. The decor was lovely and great cutlery! Parking on site, warm welcome, great coffee, choose how you want your eggs! And off you go!

Nice place. Food OK and service really good.

The food is consistently excellent but the staff are either poorly trained and / or managed, and there are not enough of them. Not unusual to wait 30 or 40 mins for a coffee on a Saturday morning. Please install a second coffee machine! However the food and location keeps us coming back. Just wish they could recapture the customer service they delivered when they first opened.

Have been their lot's of times with my cousin Karen and always had lovely food and service looked after us, great on a warm sunny day outside, and also inside bit of a buzz, very helpful in every way,

Good food. But............ Unnecessarily rude, young with no experience staff, when you struggle to order your second drink or have any of staff's attention to ask for anything else even the bill 😂. Stupid system of limited 2 hours slot, pushing you by the whole staff, from the one who clean the table, who takes the orders or the shop manager to push you as much as they could,make your order you have one hour left, in another 5 minutes, someone else comes, make your order, you have 55 minutes left to leave, in another 10 minutes, third person come and says make your order now, you have to leave the place in another 45 minutes, hurry, and just in order to make sure you will leave the place soon so they can serve someone else instead. I myself basically feel I ruined my night apart the money I waisted . Won't visit there again.

A cosy little place, decked out like a mountain restaurant at a ski resort. Tasty food and excellent service.

Once again an excellent meal. They have the winter festive menu and I swerved from my usual lovely chicken waffle and chose the French onion soup and very glad I did! It was amazing 🤩. Love the decor too, it felt warm and cosy, just like a ski chalet! Well done team 👏

Very unusual but tasty brunch (chicken & waffle with bacon and guacamole), good coffee, nice location on the Thames.

Absolutely loved the Alpine theme. Food was fantastic. Highly recommend the Zweigelt red wine and the Shredded pancakes (Kaiserschmarrn) dessert. Music was a little too loud but atmosphere was otherwise great.

Great experience, the food was lovely, service very good, we were having a nice time catching up with friends and felt well looked after but not rushed. We want to come back and try dinner. Thank you!

Nice place to eat brunch by the river.

We were expecting good things as have always had great experiences at their sister restaurants. We had a table booked for 5, with a newborn and their pram. Immediately, we were told there was no room for the pram, despite the restaurant only having a few tables occupied. This could have been handled better, the staff was unnecessarily rude. The food was absolutely delicious. But sadly, service let them down. We struggled to get anyone’s attention for another drink, to get the bill and to pay the bill. It was a celebration of new jobs, new baby etc. and this was tarnished due to the bad service. For an expensive, celebratory meal we feel disappointed and let down by the experience.

After waiting for an hour we were told that the Halloumi Burger we ordered was probably served to someone else. Worse, we were told that the kitchen was closed and nothing could be done. The waiters were very nice but the experience on the whole was horrible. The one thing you expect in a Sunday Brunch is food.

Hideaway is a hidden gem on the surbiton/ Thames Ditton border. Food and staff always amazing.

We went there at 7.10 and they said the kitchen wouldn’t open for another 20 minutes and it was drinks only. I wish it said on their Google page that there’s a time that the kitchen remains closed so I would book for a later time. We said it was no big deal, we could order drinks first and wait for the kitchen to reopen so we ordered margaritas. However, the waiter came back and said that they were sorry they couldn’t do margaritas because they were out of tequila… we then ordered different drinks and 5 tapas. Three of the tapas came and we waited for the other two but they arrived about 20 minutes later. I wish that they all came at the same time. Overall a lovely place with nice views and we loved the burrata but wouldn’t probably go there again as we found them a bit unprofessional.

A nice location overlooking the Thames. Off the beaten track so not a lot of competition around. It is however very, very expensive. A couple of beers and some toast set us back over £20. I would go here more often if the prices weren't so inflated compared to other places in Surbiton.

A lovely little spot upon the river as you head towards Surrey from Surbiton. They were very welcoming for a pint of the Good Life out on the very nice terrace by the river. It’s predominantly an eatery so if you come for a drink it’s table service and a service charge is added on top. It’s great for a drink. Having been there before in the early days the tapas was decent if not a tad overpriced so voweled only to drink there in future. It may have changed now, but having returned for a drink it was ideal. Maybe one day soon the food will get another chance.

Riverside bar and restaurant with lots of outdoor tables. Small tapas-style menu plus a couple of burger options and a small cocktail menu. All the food and drinks were lovely and reasonably priced. Our waitress was also super helpful with a gluten allergy. DJ wasn't the best and I'm not sure actually added to the ambiance.

8 of us met for a " birthday brunch"..we all had excellent food and service. Definitely recommend this place.

Food is amazing, had the buratta (a must have), the aranchini and burger, all amazing. Drinks quite expensive but everything else is 10/10, especially being sat by the river

Brunch or dinner this lovely riverside restaurant always delivers. The service is always brilliant, the wait staff are so lovely. The cocktails are also not something to miss.

Been here recently for brunch and will certainly revisit. Good service, refreshing menu and fantastic food. Dog friendly with decent terrace area overlooking the Thames and the Marina.

The food is pretty good but what let us down was that they seem to have not invested in decent air conditioning. It was unbearably hot last night inside the restaurant where we were sat. We were sat near a door and when I asked if they could open it to try and get some air coming in we were just simply told no. No explanation. Not helpful.

Lovely riverside restaurant. Great food, friendly efficient service & great ambience. Two small niggles though, which takes nothing away from the overall experience. The music, although excellent, was a little to loud as we had to raise our voices a little to talk & the plants on our table were dead. That apart, perfect. I was really disappointed with this restaurant. Had high expectations as rarely managed to get a table. Food was nice but what really let it down was when the bar and restaurant staff sat on a table opposite ours and ate their dinner without checking if any of the tables needed anything. Our tables needed to be cleared and we were hoping to order more drinks. It's not them eating that bothered me, it was lack of care for those dining. Won't be returning. We ended up at Grey Horse for some cocktails.

Nice location. There is a room to improve their dishes. We ordered chicken, lamb, prawn, potato and calamari.

We popped in for a late lunch, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Quick service, nice atmosphere, lovely river views and delicious food, what more could you want! It's the kind of place Kingston needs more of!

Easter Sunday brunch.. Firstly thank you to all of the team for working on Easter Sunday - hugely appreciated.. Secondly - we thank you for a delicious brunch - we will certainly be back for more if the shakshuka!

We’d been looking forward to heading to the Hideaway for brunch given all the positive reviews & its location, however when we arrived the welcome was cold at best and we were made to feel like we were bothering the lady that ‘greeted’ us. We then ordered a coffee with oat milk which looked as if it had curdled. When our smoked salmon eggs Benedict arrived, the eggs were undercooked and cold. Both of us were then unwell on our way home. A real shame. We won’t be back. The stars I do give the place are due to the location and the fact that our waiter was polite.

No doubt this will be an unpopular opinion but my experience here was extremely poor. Having looked forward to finally going for breakfast here, we were really excited for the experience, an excitement that was quickly smothered by the rudest “welcome” I’ve ever had. Arriving 3 minutes before our booked time we were told the restaurant wasn’t open yet but we could sit down. When we enquired about sitting outside clearly this was bothersome as the tables were wet and we’d have to wait for them to be dried off… Finally seated, I requested a coffee which when it turned up was accompanied with curdled milk. The eggs Bennie then came out with cold undercooked eggs on the toughest bread you’d need a chainsaw to get through. Contemplating complaining, I didn’t have the energy to deal with our moody faced server, so that’s on me, but it was altogether a dreadful experience I would prefer not to inflict on myself, or indeed my enemies, again. 1 star for location.

We had a wonderful dinner last night at Hideaway. The service was very welcoming and friendly. We had a variety of tapas which were all incredible! Highly recommend the padron peppers and Greek Chicken. Cocktails were amazing too! Highly recommend!!

Great location - right on the river with a panoramic view and parkland on the opposite bank. It feels a bit like a large beach bar/restaurant and is particularly worth visiting on a sunny day, when you can sit outside. Staff are friendly and the food is cooked well and reasonaby-priced.

Nice little resturant with a real bustling atmosphere. Chicken and waffles was on point and I washed it down with Jasmin Tea.

The 4 of us had a lovely Sunday lunch. We booked. Sufficient parking and seating. Good service and good food. We had cocktails, a meal and coffee. Helped to see and ask what other patrons were having. The waitress helped with this.

A tucked away little gem! Plenty of parking. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Menu a little confusing because it called the mains Tapas... which makes you think they will be small and you'd get a few to share out. Great prices. We'll be back!

Food was really good, service really inattentive unfortunately, 20 mins to order a drink when we arrived and had to try and get waiters attention at each stage of the evening. Think we got unlucky as have had brunch here before and it was better.

Hired for our daughter's 21st birthday party, so pleased we did. Staff were amazing throughout the party, attentive and friendly. Fabulous cocktails and delicious food. The staff really helped make the evening run smoothly and everyone had a great evening. Perfect venue for a celebration. What a gem of a place.

Have eaten brunch here a couple of times recently and both times was really happy with the service and the quality of food. Views of the river. A pleasant atmosphere and no feeling of being rushed out! My girlfriends and I chatted and laughed over our brunches, tea and coffees and will definitely be returning. I’d recommend the shakshuka but the other dishes also looked good. We did book to be sure of a table but it wasn’t packed out so you may be lucky just turning up. Worth a visit.

Very nice burger! Lovely waitress, who was actually interested in me your answer when she asked if it was good! It was, with a tweak or two it could have been fabulous!

I've lived in the Surbiton area all my 44 years and never noticed this spot, what a lovely position, loved the setting and really liked the bohemian interior (which may not be to everyone's taste) tables nicely spaced and very comfy chairs, my wife and I had lunch she had a Caesar salad and I had Chicken n Waffles we ordered a prosecco and a beer as well as some fries. I really wanted the food and service to be as good as the setting, unfortunately it wasn't... while some might like the relaxed service, I like to be asked if my food is good or if i need anything without having to look about for help. Caesar was nice enough, not enough dressing (but my wife didn't want to ask for more) her prosecco was apparently really good so that made up for it. Chicken n waffles well what can i say, i was told it was a balanced dish.. either the chef was new or the waitress hadn't tried it. it was horrible. so sweet, overwhelming vanilla flavour and sugar only had an under seasoned avocado spread on the waffle and a pretty boring and thin piece of chicken schnitzel with a zero seasoned crumb (it needs to be a southern fried piece of chicken). I had to pile on salt and pepper but even that couldn't compete with the vanilla flavour. (i fully expected this to be a sweet and savoury experience btw, i appreciate its a waffle) If someone had come to check on us I probably wouldn't write this but these easy to fix problems could have raised the review as this place is a 5 star review kinda place, shame about the under seasoned food and hands off service.

I’m really disappointed in my recent visit to hideaway - I’ve been many times but today our brunch was awful. Ordered chorizo eggs and it came with a cold slice of chorizo from a packet, a slice of beef tomato and a Luke warm poached egg. Really average and will not be returning

Restaurant in beautiful setting, ample parking and easy to get to. Staff friendly enough, came for brunch for four of us with infant and dog friendly. We ordered the courgette fritters, cauliflower fritters, and shakshuka, all looked good. We also ordered the chorizo and poached eggs which was terrible - poached eggs okay with shop bought slices of chorizo, which is a huge let down. Overall okay but wouldn’t rate that highly on the last dish.

Great place for a date night! It was very busy. A bit noisy, but what do you expect from a place that has good recommendations. By the way, the Espresso Martini's went down a treat! And we had a surprise on arrival. Something you don't see on a Farrari. At least not more than once!

Great food and decent prices, drinks were expensive but it is what you would expect. The vibe was great but for a restaurant, they had a DJ, who was really good but you would expect that in a night club. The music was far too loud that my ears were ringing and I had a horse voice from trying to talk over the music. I totally wouldn't mind this if I was going there to dance but no one was dancing. Because of this, I would not go back for dinner unfortunately. I'll try breakfast instead.

£10 will buy you 2 poached eggs with a small amount of smoked salmon on a muffin, very over priced. Also requested a bacon sani, the small amount of bacon was pre cooked & like leather not pleasing to eat.... the service was very slow & the staff are unfriendly...we left disappointed & hungry after paying £30. Never again,shame though as it's nice looking onto the river

We had a lovely lunch at this beautiful spot along the Thames. Such a perfect local gem. The food was delicious and the service was great. Watching the boats go past while having our lunch and drinks was just fantastic.Would definitely recommend!!
