Opted for the set dinner menu. £20 for 3 courses. Loads to choose from. Can highly recommend the mac n cheese. My sister chose the salmon and said it was delicious. Both had sticky toffee pudding & vanilla ice cream. Could not fault anything at all about our visit. Can’t wait to go back and try more food from this great menu.

Was here 2 nights in a row and the service was excellent as was the food and very reasonable prices. Would certainly recommend.

Thank you so much to all the staff in the Kylestrome Hotel in Ayr. We had an absolutely fantastic overnight stay in the Hotel. The fact that it was the night before the lockdown occurred and there was so much uncertainty and worry, the staff still gave 100% service to us and the food was absolutely delicious. The hotel only had 2 couples staying and the chefs even came out of the kitchen to speak to us. The mood was cheery and friendly despite what was going on. We can’t fault this place and highly recommend it. Please thank all the staff who were working on the night before and the morning of closure when the lockdown started. We will be back most definitely.

Excellent food and staff very friendly on the Saturday night we attended. On arrival we were a bit worried as the table wasn’t ready so we were sent to the bar. Having stood at the bar for about 30 mins with the bar man clearly stressed but not even an acknowledgement we were there strange as we were the only people in the bar. But that said the service in the restaurant was very good and food very good. Fish lamb excellent would definitely go again when in the area

As you would expect on a Friday night that is also valentines day it was busy, but there was plenty of staff on to accommodate. Food was incredible, prawns, langoustines and steak all very good. great sized portions. Wine selection was not very large but sufficient and reasonably priced.

Super staff and a very well run clean hotel. My room was spacious and had a coffee machine plus Scottish shortbread in the room. Bed was very good as well. Breakfast delicious. The only minus was the internet was not very good and a bit erratic. Apart from that a good stay was had.

Food was of very good qualiy and well presented.however the general concenses from our company was that in the area this was a wee bit expensive for what we had. Everything else was fine.

I am so happy we decided on staying here instead of going to Glasgow. Me and my now Fiancee which I proposed to the day of arrival. We are from Ayr but due to not wanting to spend 100s of pounds in Glasgow etc I decided for our anniversary to book the Kylestrome suit at the hotel for one night and at 140 pounds we couldn't of been happier. The room was unbelievable bed huge 2 TVs lounge area comfortable. One disappointment was there was no hot water to try the Jacuzzi bath as we called down to the front desk the night porter was great and tried his best to get it back on but couldn't. On the plus side they had an engineer out first thing in the morning and was able to try the brilliant jacuzzi tub in the morning. Finally I have to mention the food we had lunch and dinner both well priced the dinner meal I have to mention was out of this world not only was it that good although they had a function on at the time my fiancee wanted breaded Brie that wasn't on the menu this was no problem and the scallops dish had to of been the best scallops dish I have had in years. Although not perfect rest assure we will be visiting again it is ashame you do not do weddings the staff are a credit to the Hotel Chefs are epic and can tell the passion is there Thank you for having us. As a family of three adults we ate here recently- more by chance than anything else. What good fortune it turned out to be - we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The menu has a good, varied selection to suit all tastes. Options are available for gluten free, vegetarian and vegan. We all chose different meals from the menu and were all delighted with our meals. The service was very friendly and efficient with the restaurant having a pleasant atmosphere. Good value for money.

Had a nice steak dinner few weeks back, excellent food. However service a bit on the slow side. Wouldn’t put me off going back though.

Decided to try the menu here and it was great. I had the chilli starter and the braised beef with peppercorn sauce it cut like butter. Friendly staff would definitely recommend this to anyone

Went on a saturday night recently.

Stayed in the hotel for two nights with my Husband and we decided to book the restaurant as the reviews were excellent! We were not let down, as the food was fantastic!! For starters I had the smoked haddock and my Husband had the black pudding and scallops. For the main course I had the chicken dish and my Husband had steak. We could not fault any part of our meals. Will definitely be back!

Definitely some staff training required here! Called in for lunch and the food was good. Both had the lentil soup which had great flavour but was a tiny portion and barely covered the bottom of the plate. For mains had the sole which was slightly dry and the sea bass which was by far the favourite. Service was really poor, waited ages for the soup to arrive and eventually had to chase this up, also had to go looking for a waitress to pay the bill.

Visited as a family of 4 for a Christmas dinner, we had high expectations following previous visits and were very much looking forward to our meal. Total disaster, and a disgrace at £75 a head. Tables were sparse with not even a cracker or water, but not as sparse as the waiting staff as there appeared to be 4 for 2 large dining areas. Starters were average (soup was actually inedible), main meals were minimal and did not even include all items which we had to ask (and wait) for. The waiting time for food was long, with many tables complaining about the wait and substandard meals being produced. We left hungry and actually made snacks when we got home. Tried to complain on the day but no one was available and there didn’t appear to be anyone runnning the show so to speak.

Had a fantastic stay and evening meal at this Hotel. The rooms were large and luxurious.The beds large and very comfortable.Rooms have all amenities needed for the stay. We had a evening meal in the grill where the food was excellent and the staff very friendly, great value for money.

My husband and I visited this restaurant with two of our friends. It was tastefully decorated and had a very nice atmosphere. The waiting staff were friendly and very attentive. The food was lovely and very well presented. We will definitely return.

Popped in for lunch when down in Ayr for a business meeting. Our order was simple, wraps and soup. There are different sizes of each and when we eventually got our orders (too long a wait for lunchtime service) they were completely wrong. Gave back and came back with wrong orders again. Food was nice enough, nothing particularly special. When we asked for the bill we notice that it was wrong too. So that was changed. Staff were friendly and apologetic. Maybe new staff being trained? Unsure but we were late leaving due to the slow service and all the mix ups.

We booked a table of 4 at 6 o’clock. On arrival we were welcomed by our friendly hostess. We were taken to our table but we asked to move for comfort purposes, this request was no bother.

Attended for a retirement function and almost fainted with hunger waiting for meal. As there were 50 of us we had booked in advance and had a menu with limited choices. Meal was booked 19:00 for 19:30. Order taken at 19:40, first course served at 20:20. Food might have been OK but by this time I was so hungry I did not enjoy it. Main course arrived at 21:10 and some of our company had to shovel it down in a rush and leave as had to get home for 21:45. I had the chicken with brandy and pepper sauce - the sauce was thick and congealed as if it had been sitting a while. Apparently the kitchen prioritised other customers over our large group, so I certainly wouldn't advise booking a wedding or any other event there. I really cannot comment on the quality of the food or the value for money as I was starving by the time we got it and barely tasted it as eating so quickly to avoid fainting with hunger. We had planned a presentation and speeches at end of meal but had to do at start to fill in the time and to do a wee impromptu filler in between thw courses too. Rather spoiled what should have been a good night out. If the kitchen cannot cope with that many covers, cooking food that could all be prepared in advance, then they should not accept the booking. Will never be back and would not recommend.

After reading lots of positive reviews I was looking forward to dinner at The Kylestrome but my wife & I were left entirely disappointed.

We enjoyed the food here. Freshly cooked good quality produce. Perhaps that is why it is a little slow to be served. Upon arrival we were shown to our table for six and were given three menus. Drinks service was shabby. A bottle of red wine was planked down on the table with the lid still on it. Oh well then I take it you open it and serve yourself then. My partner's beer bottle was also planked down with no offer of a glass. Staff seemed generally disinterested. We had to go and ask to pay the bill. The place looked as if it could do with a freshen up. It was not unclean but looks tired. Our tables had scratches on them and parts of the carpet were stained. Overall it was a shame because the food was so good. A bit rough around the edges sadly.

First class dinner , in nice surroundings and a good atmosphere.

I stayed at the hotel overnight and enjoyed a good dinner at the restaurant. The menu has a good amount of choice and staff were prepared to offer guidance if required. Not too big a dining room which would probably lend itself to small groups on a celebration outing

Hello folks, This will be a quick review of the Kylestrom, My wife and I visited the restaurant on the 6th of March this year as we needed sustenance during a 3 hour window from attending the local hospital, on entering the restaurant around midday there was only one member of staff in sight, well he attended to us when he finished with his current customers, we were quickly shown to a suitable table, perused our menus, only waited for a short time until our order was taken, drinks ordered and delivered, soon after our meals arrived and sufficient to say that the food was par excellence, seriously good, my wife had the feather of beef while I had the steak pie (easily pleased we are ! ) anyway to finish this review, in absolutely no way could we fault the food (or service) immaculately clean toilets etc' and I assure you that we have no affinities with this restaurant whatsoever, just try it !

Large family gathering are often a hit and miss, with so many people to cater for. We arrived and were greeted by the friendly staff and seated straight away.

Nine of us visited last Sunday, the meal was perfect, service excellent, every one of us were delighted with every course. Must recommend the tempura as a main course, the melon starter and sticky toffee pudding.. This really is a hidden gem

Funeral reception was held here for a close relative, and the food did him justice! The restaurant catered for several more people than anticipated. The booking and arrival was managed respectfully as was the additional unexpected capacity. The Reception consisted of unlimited tea and coffee, and afternoon tea of cakes, sandwiches and sausage rolls. All were really nice, novel too under the circumstances.

We arrived on Saturday for lunch without booking it was really busy but managed to get a table within 5 minutes staff in here are really helpful and go out their way to make you feel welcome the food was as always very nice and good sized portions. Thanks to all

Visited the Kylestrome on Tuesday evening for a special birthday dinner .

I have visited this restaurant a few time, went last week with a friend, we can not say it was the best meal we have had in this restaurant, the garlic mushrooms & bacon starter was rather bland, the fillet of pork was cooked well, tho the black pudding croquet was over cooked as it was deep fried & it was very dry, maybe it was a bad night for the kitchen as it was not very busy, service was ok, staff were ok too. Such a shame, as I have had nicer experiences before

A big thank you to Diane and her staff on our special day. From start to finish all staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble, buffet was brilliant, nothing was left uneaten. I would highly recommend the kylestrome to anyone that is thinking of a holding a party.

My cousin treated us to a late Anniversary dinner last night. Great choice on the menu. Food was outstanding as it has been in the past. Service excellent and we had a lovely evening catching up with our cousin.

My prawn cocktail had been sprinkled with some very very hot spice, took me quite a few minutes to catch my.breath. mistake perhaps (don't think so), maybe something I said. 5 RUMP STEAKS #/ 4 WERE FINE mine was a make a fool of, some very small thin bits of steak over the tomato, sent it back, came back as it went.perhaps the cook thought it was funny / I DIDN'T, won't be back.

Great welcome with friendly and attentive staff without being over attentive. Tables nicely spaced. Menu choice good and everything we ordered was clearly freshly prepared and was of a very high standard, arriving at the table freshly plated and hot.Staff allowed us to take our time and have an excellent relaxed evening.The steak was slightly overdone - not quite rare enough, and without question a replacement was served very promptly, plated with freshly done accompaniments - nothing recycled. We also received a discount due to this mistake. A very professional and courteous response.

If you are in Ayr looking for great meal at affordable prices look no further. We stopped by for lunch and everyone had a great meal. Fish, liver, steak - all were perfectly cooked and the service was excellent. Would highly recommend.

My son treated me on mother's day to lunch and it was lovely.It was a set menu 2or3 courses we only managed 2 good portion sizes and menu had a good variety price was excellent under £20 for 3 courses.They have there own car park at back so no problems parking.I did feel the service a little on the slow side and the restaurant at the time we were there wasn't very busy but when it came to paying the bill it was the quickest

Visited here on a Tuesday with family. Have been before but this is my first review. I love the food here & so much choice on the menu. We all had 3 courses and were more than happy. The staff were lovely too. The reason i have given 4 stars and not 5 is i ordered something I get in The Tudor restaurant & find it better in there. Will definitely be back as we all as a family like it here.

The popular Hotel Kylestrome bar and restaurant is a favourite Ayr place to go for a good atmosphere and really good food.

A large group of us (14) booked a meal here and we were very well taken care of. The staff were very accommodating whilst we waited for a small number of the group to arrive and offered us drinks. The steak was cooked to perfection but the chips were slightly overdone. They then produced a birthday cake which one of the group had supplied. I had a pavlova for pudding which was nice also. Thank you to the lovely staff.

Had lovely tasty food here today. Well cooked,well presented and served by attentive staff. Interval between courses was just right. We were not rushed nor did we have to wait for too long. Enjoyable experience and will be back soon.

We ate here a few nights ago for my husband's birthday. Even on a fairly miserable Monday evening, the restaurant was busy enough to have atmosphere and it was cosy and comfortable too. We had requested a nice table and were given a comfortable booth. We all enjoyed delicious starters and lovely mains which were particularly good value at £14 for 2 courses. We ordered a bottle of Rioja [a Beronia] which was delicious unlike many a restaurant Rioja ordered elsewhere and, when the cork broke and appeared in the glasses, the waiter had no qualms whatsoever about bringing another bottle in its place. Service was attentive without being intrusive and all in all it was a very pleasant evening out. Well done and keep up the good work, Kylestrome!

Having visited this restaurant last year,we could not wait to go back.Once again the food,service was fantastic. however I was sadly disappointed when on going to the gents toilet I noticed only one sink operational and the air blade hand drier was very very grubby.I informed a member of waiting staff about this and they said it would be rectified. I can understand the sink not being repaired however on returning to the gents toilet the hand drier had not been cleaned. I reiterate we had a fantastic meal but come on guys a little bit of investment would bring this place back to the gem it once was.Would we go back? DEFINITELY.!!!!! Just a little bit more attention to detail would be greatly appreciated.

We were sent along to this hotels restaurant due to the one we were staying in having issues in the kitchen with gas supply. We had a beautiful meal here and the staff were very helpful. They even showed us a couple of rooms so we could see what they had to offer. Lots of fish dishes, just my cup of tea. They did have an excellent choice of other dishes. The Fairfield would have to have gone some to beat the food in the Kylestrome. Highly recommended.

We visited the town for few days and were late to our meal. We got a two course with pate,stuffed chicken, beef and haggis olive. The service was great and nicely decorated place. The atmosphere was quiet and the food was delicious. Would go again and stay in their accommodation.

We did not book, and hoped there would be a table. Arrived and attended to promptly. The place was busy and we were offered a table in the bar, whichever was fine. We went for a main course first and the lasagne and Cajun waraps were tasty and adequate portion size. This was followed up by a two helping of sticky toffee pudding, agin tasty and delicious. Two courses and two drinks came to £32, which was reasonable and the service was good. See you again soon

Nice restaurant, service was good and menu with plenty of choices. If you get in before 6.30pm a two course meal is £14. Food is of a very good quality and well presented, to be honest with the lovely bread served pre meal my wife and I, following our lovely starter, struggled to finish our second course but it was so tasty we gave it our best shot. Relaxed atmosphere and located in central of town. We live close by and can walk there in 5 minutes but if you are visiting Ayr go early and enjoy.

Visited this hotel for an early supper. It is comfortable and the staff are welcoming. We didn't want a full dinner, and this was no problem. We had a single course each. I had a melon and prawn salad, that had plenty of prawns. This hotel does very good salads. My husband had chicken tempura as a main course. he has had this before, and he says that the batter is one of the best in the area. I can confirm this, as I have had excellent battered fish here.

Have been here many times and always enjoyed out meals and service . Went today for lunch with my mother , it was busy due to the races being onion ayr but was offered a table in bar area , the service was slow and staff standing at bar complaining about lack of staff , food was ok , had better not impressed and will not be back , there are few good eating establishments in ayr , and you have certainly went down hill

I booked this hotel and restaurant from the trip advisor reviews. Table for one (billy no mates business trip), restaurant is contemporary if a very little dated, but comfortable. Order for drink was prompt and chose the Scallops and black pudding starter. Scallops were well cooked, i don't normally take black pudding but gave it a go and it was quite nice, pea puree and crispy bacon finished a nice dish and it all got eaten! I came here for a steak but plumped for the lamb fillet with dauphinoise potatoes and fresh veg. I asked for pink Lamb and it was slightly overcooked but very tasty. Creme brulee washed down by a nice Shiraz finished a very nice meal off. Would definitely eat here if staying in Ayr, thanks

A really top class restaurant. I would highly recommend the steaks which are of the best quality cuts and cooked to perfection. Varied menu catering to a wide variety of tastes. Can't praise the staff highly enough. You need to book well in advance, even mid-week.

Wonderful evening with great food and attentive staff. We were celebrating a year since we got engaged and this venue was just perfect as we were given a small booth to sit in - ideal for the occasion!

I have been to this establishment many times and would say that the hotel is beautiful, the food was first class but there seemed to be a lot of new staff the last time we were there although they seemed attentive and friendly.

Lovely restaurant. Good atmosphere. Customer Service, with a smile, is excellent and attentive without being intrusive. There's a 'specials' on offer at £11 but I defy you not to want to order extras - the food is delicious. I had a starter of black pudding stuffed mushrooms followed by mixed fish (choice of 3 sauces) - totally yummers. Unfortunately not able to have desert although choices were very tempting. Recommended :-)

Only a few diners were eating when we entered for our 9:30 25 June dinner reservation and after dinner we were the only ones in the restaurant. The food was well prepared but something must have happened then because it took forever to get our dirty dishes removed and after desert it felt as if we waited nearly half an hour for our bill. It seemed that, perhaps, a staff person was having a personal crisis that evening... but we certainly felt forgotten and ignored.

Had lunch as part of a function - could not fault the flavor of the food but we were given vegetables on a plate the size of a saucer - for 3 people!!I asked twice for water and the 2 servers were laughing and joking with each other so rather than call them over I went to the bar to ask for the water and was given a look and told it would be brought over to the table.Would not be in any rush to return

Had an early dinner here on Sunday. Have had some lovely meals at the Kylestrome but was really disappointed with this one. Three of our group said the meal was 'OK' but two of us were not at all happy.I ordered Lasagne and struggled to eat it. There was hardly any meat in it and this had little flavour. The dish had a large amount of tomatoe paste which overpowered all other flavours. With each forkful I could feel it thick in my mouth. Another member of our party ordered vegan lasagne. To her surprise it consisted of a few vegetables and no pasta sheets. How can it be named lasagne? Luckily she had asked for boiled potatoes on the side or she would have been left feeling hungry.We would have called the waiter over but as we had waited 55 minutes before this( our first course) arrived we did not have the time to wait again for something else.The final insult came when the young lad who was delivering our food to the table put everyone's food at their place without a word and for both my courses as he put the food down said 'miss!' Madam or m'am maybe but MISS! I hasten to mention that I was there with my husband, son in law and grandchildren and actually found this quite insulting.Will think carefully before visiting here in future.

Having planned this meal to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday for many many weeks, I have to say that we were all left sorely disappointed with the night. A family favourite for many years, The Kylestrome has held many special events for us including wedding receptions, anniversary parties and 40th birthday parties. It was a natural choice when deciding on a venue that would offer what we thought would be a lovely family evening. The place wasn't too busy when we arrived and we were given menu's promptly, with a second staff member taking our drinks orders. We all ordered from the main menu and not the early bird offer menu. Our drinks arrived and the young girl who served us clearly struggled to open our bottle of red wine. In the end, my partner had to open it for her.Our starters arrived. 3 of us had the classic prawn and salmon cocktail which was extremely uninspiring and certainly not presented to restaurant standards. The sauce was pale and had little flavour and the dish was only garnished with a couple of small pieced of iceberg lettuce and a cherry tomato cut into 2. The others had the langoustines and tempura though these were nice.When the mains arrived the first problem was that most of the dishes were freezing cold. 2 of the party had the seafood mix with bisque. My sister advised the waitress that this was freezing cold and also questioned if the sauce was correct as it tasted like a cheese sauce and not a bisque. The accompanying vegetables were freezing cold as was the lamb dish. My partner had asked for a side order of whisky sauce which was forgotten and by the time it arrived from the kitchen, his food was almost finished. The waitress returned to take a dessert order before she had even removed the plates from the main course. To top it all, nobody cleared any glasses off of our table the entire night and as such, we were left having to move these to the corner of the table ourselves, in order to try to have some space. Please see pictures. I cannot explain how disappointed we were with the food and the service. Not sure if there is a new management structure or new chefs in place now but this is so far removed from how things used to be!! I certainly won't be returning any time soon and will now look elsewhere to find a favourite eatery in Ayr. To the owner, please look into this catalogue of disasters!!!

Attended a wedding here last night, lovely set up and the food was absolutely fantastic!! Drinks quite expensive £5 for two soft drinks.Staff were efficient and hard working.

Pâté starter was lovely, as were the haggis croquettes. My partner had the beef pie and I had the pork chop. Delicious food though perhaps a touch too much salt used in the mains (for our taste). Lovely créme brûlée to finish. All washed down with a very pleasant bottle of Montpulciano. The staff were friendly and very welcoming.

My fiance and I are always looking for new places to eat, we were recommended here. from the minute we walked in we loved it. service was lovely I had the Scallops and Black Pudding and my Fiance had the Tempura, I had a fillet Steak whilst my fiance had the T-Bone. It was the best steak I have had in a while cooked to perfection. they had a great cocktail list, the only thing I would fault is they only have 2 of each wines by the glass, they didnt have any red wine I like by the glass. I would recommend this place to anyone from couples to families

Recently visited this restaurant to celebrate my sons 21st birthday. Staff were very friendly and helpful service was excellent, food delicious well presented good portion sizes. Staff very kindly helped make the occasion special by joining in with the secret of us taking a birthday cake along and bringing it through after the meal, would certainly recommend a visit. Prices were excellent for the food quality

I went to the Hotel Kylestrome last night with my partner for dinner. We were pleased to see when we got there that we could order from the early evening menu (5pm - close, Monday to Thursday) which meant the main course was £11.00 and starters / desserts were £2.95. To start I had the chicken tempura which was the best I have had and my partner had garlic mushrooms which he also enjoyed. For the main course I had the beef stroganoff and my partner had the Swiss chicken. Both meals were lovely - and the portions were substantial, we couldn't finish ours. They had a good selection of desserts, my partner had sticky toffee pudding and I had the pavlova - the only slight criticism I would have is that the only berries in the pavlova were strawberries, it would have been nice to have a wee bit variety.Overall we both enjoyed our meal and the total price was £56.00 which included three courses and there drinks each - excellent value!

A great menu with a really good choice of dishes. The food is really flavoursome and good quality. Everything seems freshly made and exactly as requested (I asked if the bacon on my burger could be crispy and it was perfect!).

We had most enjoyable visits to the Kylestrome on Sat 2 April and Mon 4 April when family were home for a wedding. Excellent food and service, as usual, at the Kylestrome with all visitors most impressed. Can't recommend highly enough.

I visited here for lunch on Saturday 9th April 2016 with my family for my brother's birthday. A group of 5.None of us had been before but we had heard great things.The first thing to say is we were given a table for 4 with 3 places squeezed into 2 which was totally inadequate and we asked the waitress to move to a bigger table, she said she had to go and check (even though the place was very quiet) she came back and moved an extra table next to ours.I ordered an Irn Bru for a drink which came in a small glass bottle accompanied with a tall skinny glass filled with ice which quickly became water.I had lentil and ham soup to start which was really nice. For main course I had lasagne which was quite bland actually, I wasn't impressed.The prices are quite high for a lunch menu- £11 for 1 course and an extra £2.95 for a starter.Everyone else said their food was just ok except my brother whose birthday we were out celebrating, his steak pie was very chewy and he had to leave most of it.He told the waiter and we were given a 10% discount off the total bill.I think this place has a lot of potential but there is a bit of apathy about the place and the staff aren't very enthusiastic.

Went here with a group from work. Service friendly. Large menu to choose from. Lovely food!! Bit pricey but worth it!

Our favourite restaurant for family gatherings when visiting Ayr. Very comfortable and friendly atmosphere allied to excellent food from a wide ranging and varied menu served by efficient and friendly staff.

Party of 12 out for dinner for relative on holiday from states. Everyone commented on standard of food and prices. So much so that two of the party returned a few days later.
