Mae-Ping Thai Dining in Perth & Kinross

Lovely food served by very friendly waitress, at a very reasonable price - thank you. Perhaps have an alcohol free (AF) beer available for those of us who are driving or who chose not to drink alcohol mid-week, Brewdog makes an excellent range of AF beers and I'm sure these would be popular with your customers.

We really enjoyed the food served at Mae Ping. It’s cooked fresh to order which means if it’s busy you’re most likely going to have to wait. My only criticism would be that whilst you wait it would’ve been nice to have available crackers with a selection of dips. It would at least keep you occupied.

Undoubtedly one of the best spots in Perth! We went for a birthday dinner and couldn’t fault it; the service was brilliant; so friendly, fast and nothing was too much hassle. We ordered two sharing starter platters (for 6 of us) and it was lovely the chicken toast was a real highlight for me! The staff even asked if we could like to make sure there was enough there for all of us on the platter so no one missed out. We all ordered different mains and every single person commented on how fresh the food was, piping hot and absolutely delicious. The portions were perfect; our only issue was we ordered the platters too so we were stuffed! I can’t recommend this highly enough, if you’ve never been before - go and give it a go! You won’t be disappointed 😊

Went here with some friends from my curling club to celebrate the end of the season. As usual, the food was fresh, authentic and delicious with polite and attentive service throughout. We shared a couple of sharing starter platters between the 8 of us then each had a separate main. The Pad Thai was absolutely lovely, very generous portion and wonderful flavours. I think we were here for around 2.5 hours and even mid-week it was reasonably busy, which shows how popular it is. Book ahead to avoid disappointment!

Great food , everything was delicious and cooked fresh to order. The tempura vegetables were good, crispy and light, green Thai curry was so tasty I didn’t want to stop eating! Service was great we felt at home. Highly recommend.

The pad kaprao was delicious and plentiful. It was flavoursome and made to order - I know because I heard the sizzle of the wok and the waiter kindly asked how spicy I would like it. I'd certainly recommend and I'll be returning next time I'm in Perth

Chicken pre cooked. Not cooked in the sauce. Tasted awful. Green Thai curry really fishy. Just aweful!! Too much batter on the starters & ribs chewy without sauce. We’ve had better for £20.!! The waitress was friendly and helpful. Advised us, and others around us in a very knowledgeable and supportive manner. My wife and I had the mixed veg combi starter and the combo 3 (seafood) main between us. We were told there would be plenty for 2 and it was perfect, enough to feel full without feeling bloated. The food was very flavoursome, well presented and cooked fresh. Not cheap but not expensive. Will return there again

I'd highly recommend here for anyone who loves thai food. The staff are very attentive the food is always amazing. I have been going here for decades. Favourite Thai restaurant in Scotland. There are others but this one is worth going out of your way to visit! Authentic, family run, always made to feel welcome. I have been to some fairly high end Thai restaurants across the UK and I am yet to experience better Tom Yum or Tom Ka soup anywhere.

The service was friendly and the waitresses were honest with customers that the food was going to be a while but it’s all freshly made to order. We were more than happy to wait for delicious food! I just adored this cozy little Thai on Perth’s High Street. Open between 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM on weekdays, it is run by a father-and-daughter team offering a variety of tasty curries and stir-fry with a blend of freshness with flavor that is not easy to find elsewhere. I liked it so much that I visited three times during my workweek in town and was never disappointed. For those who visit Thai restaurants only sparingly on grounds of finding the food a bit heavy, that will not be your experience at Mae Ping – you’ll be amazed how their dishes allow the vegetables and the spice-and-sauce to shine through sequentially, almost in line with your brain’s own will of the moment. You won’t spend a lot either – the vast majority of their mains price for under a tenner, even here in this inflationary times. Only drawback is shortened hours on weekdays but by the end of my stay this became its own cachet of sorts, in the sense of ensuring I could end my final business meeting in good time to make last call.

Wait times are long, but it's worth it for really amazing food made fresh.

Had a birthday meal out for my sons birthday as its one of his favourite places to eat in Perth. My granddaughters were able to guid us through the menu we all had a fantastic meal which catered to the all out tastes and the service was excellent would highly recommend.

Absolutely beautiful fresh tasty food. Twice I've been here and never disappoints. I work I Scotland often so when I'm back in Perth I'll come again! I thoroughly recommend the thai red duck curry. The pad Thai is also really good.

Such a friendly restaurant every time. They are very considerate of the customers and tailor things to your likes. Menu is extensive and excellent quality authentic Thai food (I speak as an inexperienced eater though!) Sweetcorn fritters are great starters and the sizzle plates are always good. Coconut ice cream is a big portion - share it :)

Well worth a visit ( and your sure to go back) as this family run business is one not to miss! With mum and dad in the kitchen and May running front of house, this small restaurant offers an array of traditional Thai dishes. From special “Meal deals for 2” - check the menu carefully, to various options you may not have of unless you have visited Thailand yourself. From mild to super spicy your tastebuds will not be disappointed! The friendly staff are great and all the meals are freshly prepared and cooked with expert knowledge. Great foodie experience!

Late on the review here as we were at Mae Ping’s just before Christmas for our little works do. Again great food and great service. Food fresh and tasty Shashi severed us and was excellent. We have just sat down tonight for another little works do and can’t wait for the food!! Can’t recommend here enough.

The best Thai food. 2 friends and I ate here on Monday night, it was quiet but to be expected mid January! The quality of the food was fantastic. One of our party loves Pad Thai and remarked it was one of the best she’d ever had. All dishes we ordered were superb. The staff were really friendly and attentive. We’ll definitely be back so we can sample the deep fried ice-cream as they’d sold out 🙂
