Mollys Paignton in Torbay

Went for meal with family while they were down. Nice food and atmosphere. Served by Saf, who was very friendly and provided great service, making sure we had a wonderful night.

This is a fab authentic experience. Food was delicious and plenty of gluten free options (especially lovely to see gluten free fish & chips). But what made it truly special was the service, which was excellent. Thank you Saf 🙏

What a lovely place ! . We loved the upstairs , it had a lovely atmosphere . We had the fish and chips and the burger and it was really fresh and tasty . Our waitress Sophie was very polite and attentive . We will definitely be going back again

Ordered the trio of lamb, as did the father in law. The rack was almost pure fat and what little meat we had was tough and chewy. Not normally one to complain but for £31 (62NZD) you should expect a good quality cut of lamb and not something that you could quite literally pile chunks of fat on your plate. Not keen. Service was really good though. The young bloke that served us was top notch.

Firstly I would say the staff were excellent, atmosphere great and drink great. We sat with 8 adults and had very mixed reviews. Mussels and pie were excellent. Seafood sharing platter was mediocre and the lamb three ways was awful. The seafood had prawns that were earthy and tasted as though they were freshwater prawns. The rest was ok but nothing to write home about. The lamb, some of our favourite meat, was the worst we had ever had, and for that price, was just robbery. Menu stated a rack of lamb, we got half a rack. Also stated sweatbreads (plural), we got one. Menu suggested we got greens and potato. We did, we got one potato (not plural). Greens, we also got. One dessert spoon of rocket (I think). The lamb croquette was pretty nice. Same size, and hiding the one potato. The 4 rib rack could hardly be cut. Most of it was fat, it was tough and could not come off the bone easily. I think the butcher who supplied it needs to change. When staff were told, we did get offered another meal but we declined as it would have meant waiting around alot longer and the chances of having an excellent meal was slim. I had to request that the price of the lamb meals were taken off. It wasn't suggested. One was. I recommend going for a drink. I won't be eating there for a long while which is a shame as it's a local.

Had a lovely meal here recently, place was busy for a wet and windy Monday evening in springtime. Had the Lamb Scoth Egg starter, beautifully cooked to perfection and the Lobster and Crab lingine. Should of taken pictures but too busy/eager to get tucked into them! My colleagues meals were also lovely. Would got to again easily. Great decor and friendly staff. Would be great outdoors in the summertime overlooking the seafront and harbour.

Incredible food, friendly and welcoming staff, lovely atmosphere. We were hosted by Libby, Adam and Tom who really looked after us and cooked the most fabulous hake I’ve ever tasted. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Had a great lunch here today, for how posh the place is the food is really reasonably priced and the views from the restaurant upstairs are amazing. We had a great server called Sophie who gave us top class service. Would highly recommend :)

We were seated upstairs. It was the stormiest day of our visit and the waves were spectacular viewed from the safety of the hotel. Good view from the ladies toilet. We called ahead but there was plenty of seating. Service was generally good. We didn't feel rushed at all. I think the kids menu is pretty good value for money. My daughter was very pleased with her choices of a main and 2 sides plus a dessert. My husband and son had the sharing fish platter. I think quantity wise it was more than sufficient. I felt the batter was repeated on many different coated bits so ended up with a similar flavour profile in some instances. I had the burger. I expected a little more zing but it was alright. I did eat it all. Maybe a coleslaw or some mini green side would be good. My son loved the sticky toffee pudding. I didn't try that. Just note that some of the reviews and menus are older so prices are out of date. Please visit the restaurant website so you know what you will actually pay. It wasn't a cheap night out. Maybe some of their other dishes would be more interesting, but I would have something other than the burger if I returned.

Disappointing. We went down to Paignton for the first sunny weekend of the year and after the long drive and checking in to the hotel fancied a drink. The Harbour light looked like the nicest pub around the bay area so we decided to give it a go. We were met by a young woman at the door with an iPad who asked us if we would like a table for two. 'Just some drinks outside I think' I replied and we proceeded to walk to the bar to order some drinks. After standing at the bar for 10 seconds I noticed iPad lady at my shoulder again who promptly and robotically informed me 'all orders are table service'. Right, OK. Just looking for a drink but if you insist. We were marched to the outside area and allowed to choose our own table. Once sat down iPad lady huffed 'so have you decided what you want now you've been to the bar?' Luckily my 10 second visit confirmed that they have Thatchers on tap so I ordered two pints of this and iPad lady scurried away. We spent the next 10 minutes thinking to ourselves that if we'd been allowed to just order the drinks we wanted at the bar, we could probably have finished them by now. Admitting defeat we left drinkless and went to a proper pub instead.

Didn't like it, only stopped there for a couple of drinks and were denied seats by the woman at the door because we didn't want to eat,a table was available. Had to sit outside in the wind, I won't be there again for love nor money.

We popped in for hot drinks and cake. As a family we ordered a combination of hot chocolates and a latte. Families reviews of hot chocolate were 👌- very friendly staff even made a kids version (more milk) which meant our troopers could enjoy their drinks at the same time as us. Now onto the cakes - rocky road was thoroughly enjoyed and recommend. Despite the weather ☔️ (typical Easter weather) being harbour side and sea in view is perfect - the set up is great with an awning type building and patio / light heaters at the ready!

I was so excited at the specials menu as I love sole. I asked the waitress to ask the chef if it was a good choice of the day. After this recommendation I ordered this and my partner ordered fish and chips with the extras. His was lovely. Delicious with no complaints. Unfortunately disaster struck. No joke if I had two full mouthfuls of my sole and that was it. No one came to ask if everything was ok so I carried on filling up with my new potatoes which were delicious. However a dinner of new potatoes did not really hit the spot. So if they had asked I would have said to bring 2or 3 more sole but that opportunity never arised. So I had to settle for a new potatoe dinner. They were lovely and refunded the fish. But it was not about the money it was about my tummy.

Found this place by accident on our first day in Paignton and what a fabulous place it is Staff are very friendly and helpful and our dog had the best of evenings too with a lovely blanket to lie on and free biscuits to munch on The steak and ale pie was tender and delicious and my husbands plaice was fresh and beautifully cooked . Will definitely come again

Lovely to be able to walk along the sea front and end up here, so treated myself with a pint of their finest! Good to see that this is a dog friendly establishment, with free biccies for the little blighters!

Great food and service. Definitely worth a visit Always visit Harbour Light when in Paignton as the food is excellent. Service is great and restaurant is very nice. It’s not cheap here but you get what you pay for. The reason for 4 stars for food is that I find the menu limited and it can be difficult to find something that really excites (more specials would probably help).

What a gem of a place! We were down for a long weekend visiting family. We had our little dog with us so googled dog friendly restaurants. Harbour lights came up with great reviews so we booked a table on Easter Sunday for Sunday lunch. The food was delicious and the staff were ever so kind. The venue was beautiful especially upstairs if you don’t have a dog is stunning.

£9.75 for a glass of wine, can't afford to go again.

Lovely and kind staff, nothing was too much trouble. Accommodated us and our dog downstairs and even gave us some dog treats. The food was great and would happily recommend. Great views too when the weather is nice!

We only had a bottle pinot between 2 of us and we were gob smacked at the price. It was dearer than the redcliffe hotel in paignton. So come on harbour lights, get with it and reduce your prices.

High quality food! And great selection of ciders and beer! Really enjoyed our time here and the atmosphere too. Would return asap! I appreciate that they allowed me to taste a beer to see if I would like it. The specials board had a delicious soda bread with rosemary butter dish! Yum!

A hidden gem off the pleasure beach. Stunning views, lovely food and service. We were looked after by Sophie and Sarah excellently. They were great with our accommodations with our young children.

Service and atmosphere are always 👍 top notch. Lovely Vue when sat on the upper level, staff are always very attentive and polite. I have eaten here multiple times and never once had anything other than nice food and good service! As you can tell from my comments, I will return! Highly recommend.

Saf, Tori, Obed and Eric were welcoming hosts and chefs over a two-day stay. Pub classics are cooked well with local produce and the special of whole cooked Plaice was beautifully cooked and just what you want to see at the sea side. The Harbour Light is a great story of conservation which provides a location to make memories be it local or passed through. Congratulations on your team performance and atmosphere.

Amazing Venue, the warm welcome from the staff was much appreciated, and I was greeted by Sarah, who was very smiley and friendly, and took me to a table. My order was taken by a lovely lady called Laura who was extremely helpful as I was undecided on what to order. I also had my puppy with me who was given a treat by another lovely member of staff called Jennifer! I was made to feel so welcome! I will definitely be returning on my next dog walk!

My friend and I had lunch today which was lovely, although it would be an extra touch to ask what style chips you like - my friend had skinny fries and I had chunky. I hate chunky chips and love skinny ones. The fish was lovely, as was the salad. The staff were the best bit! Sarah, Laura and Jennifer were brilliant. They were all very welcoming and even brought a fresh bowl of water for Simba.

Had a cracking roast beef meal here last weekend. I couldn't fault it really. The beef, roast potatoes and gravy were lovely. The beer was pretty good also.

Wonderful setting if you get a seaview seat. Nice light interior with quality furnishings. The food and service were both top-notch. Tried the on-trend gochujang monkish scampi for starters - wonderful; followed by the beer battered hake and chips, with mushy peas and tartare sauce - cooked to perfection. There weren't a huge amount of dessert options on the menu, but as I wasn't intending on having one it wasn't an issue.

It's probably the best pork loin roast I have ever had. I dont think other roasts will compete it

A weekend away pouring with rain and absolutely drenched. My wife and I found this pub, and omg, I'm glad we did. Amazing food, great friendly staff, and a log burner. We couldn't have asked for anything better. If you want great food beer and views, then head here, you won't be disappointed. Oh, and Tribute Ale just amazing

Tom was our waiter tonight on the 09/03/2024, he was very friendly, polite and helpful when I couldn’t choose what to order. Food was lovely and as described on the menu. Its a really nice dim, cosy place to eat as either a family or as a date night for the couples. Thankyou to everyone who made our night as lively as it was :)

Excellent views from the harbour out to Tor Bay and the Paignton Esplanade. The wild mushroom risotto was made up to a main from a starter, on request ... 👍😉🤫

Obez was charming, made our evening. The restaurant interior is lively & welcoming. The shiraz was delicious, the squid really tender & tasty. Burger OK but a bit dry. Would choose something else next time. My daughter in law had marvellous muscles, a huge plateful. All together, a lovely evening. Thank you. We've been again, this time with my daughter & her partner & son. Really enjoyable evening. Steph & her colleagues really looked after us & we all really enjoyed ourselves & our food. Held my sisters wake at Mollys. The staff were amazing. So friendly and helpful. Everyone said how lovely the food was. All of it was presented well. They even catered for my Gluten Free friends who were very impressed with their food. Just wish the weather had been better🌧️☔. Mollys is in a perfect setting on the harbour and I for one will definitely be returning. Thank you Tracey and your team.

Lovely place if you want to get a great Sunday dinner

Had a wonderful lunch but they ran out of mussels. The recent storms have prevented some supplies I imagine. My partner had the Sunday roast lamb which was lovely whilst I settled for a soup. Lovely decor and staff were great and squeezed us in without a booking Will be sure to return to sample the mussels, although ended up going to Below Decks in Torquay where I was served a delicious huge portion, which helped me get my mussels fix!

Not been since pre Covid, and decided to pop over for a Valentine's date night as I heard it had a makeover, it was wonderful last time, but wow amazing this visit, clean and fresh. Was greeted with a friendly smile show straight away to table, service throughout the evening was exceptional plenty of staff looking after the tables. Food was spot on, left feeling very pleased with our valentines choice, thanks to the team who made it special. WE WILL BE BACK. Would definitely recommend to friends.

Lovely staff, friendly and attentive but not overly in your face. Helpful to requests. Dog friendly in the bar downstairs 👍. Food was great. As a vegan I appreciated the banana blossom fish & chips ( though when I make it I wrap it in nori & squeeze lemon on it before dipping in the batter, gives a ‘sea’ flavour) with vegan tartare sauce & mushy peas, yum! Would definitely recommend a visit. Lovely setting, interior & sea views. What more could you want 😂? Didn’t ‘star’ ATM as I wasn’t sure what it was???

Excellent, friendly and helpful service, without being too pressing. Food was delicious, promptly served and of high quality. I'm visiting the area and would definitely revisit if I come again. I would highly recommend the Harbour Light, a lovely cosy venue,, pleasing decor and lots of space.

4 of us went for lunch and found the venue to be great. Service was very good and attentive with Sophie S being a little star.
