We enjoyed a splendid dinner at Mourne, with brilliant food and wine, a lovely cocktail and exemplary and attentive service in a very lively atmosphere. The chowder and the monkfish scampi were particularly lovely and the whole dining experience was memorable. It was also great value. Mourne Seafood Bar should be on every Belfast visitor's itinerary.

First night in Belfast, booked based on reviews, and ate some of the best seafood I've ever tasted. Started with oysters which were superb, and thoroughly enjoyed the hake & champ main course. My wife loved the monkfish scampi. What a great star tto our trip.

The restaurant is a gem. Absolutely delicious, fresh seaford - we had the mussels and the monk fish scampi. I have never ever tasted better scampi in my life, absolutely amazing. Along with this the service was efficient and very friendly, the atmosphere was buzzy without being too noisy and we loved the whole experience. Outstanding! If you get the chance, go.

Everything was perfect, cocktails, food, wine, service, our waiter went above and beyond and we were so pleased with everything. Can’t wait to return to Mourne Seafood.

We were very eager to have lunch at Mourne Seafood Bar, and the Carlingford oysters and seafood chowder were exactly as amazing as we hoped. The restaurant is cozy and comfortable, as well. However, our service was erratic. We sat unattended for over 30 minutes after being finishing our oysters, waiting for our soup to be served, and the waiter did not bring a condiment as requested for our chips. We had to get up and ask about our food. I recommend Mourne simply because the food was delicious, but don’t go if you have somewhere to be afterwards.

A great spot. I got the chilli squid and the mussels. Super yummy. The mussels had a sauce that was really nice and creamy. The squid wasn't over fried and actually decently light. Also the Parmesan truffle fries were very tasty. I got the mezcal dessert drink that was pretty decent. The sticky toffee pudding, was pretty yummy. The whole place was quite lively!

My husband and I were excited to try this place out when visiting Belfast after a recommendation from our friend. We ordered the mussels and squid for starters. The mussels were beautifully presented and tasted excellent. The squid was great but the portion size was a bit small for the price. For mains, we ordered the seabass on the bone which was seasoned perfectly. I really enjoyed the flavours of this dish. The seafood casserole was also delicious. We ordered a chocolate fondant to share for dessert, but there was some confusion amongst the staff. We waited 20 minutes to finally receive it. I assume the waiter who we initially ordered with forgot to put the other through to the kitchen, and the second waitress followed this up for us. The chocolate fondant itself was a bit dry and a bit of a let down for the evening. All in all, some great seafood and a relaxed atmosphere.

As two seafood lovers, we had been looking forward to going for ages, and it did not disappoint! We booked a Saturday night before a concert in St. Annes Cathedral. We found the staff to be very helpful in explaining each course we enquired about and accompanying wines. Service was great, and the food and wines were delicious. I'm definitely going to book a return visit.

My recent visit to Mourne Seafood Bar, touted as a must-visit spot in Belfast, unfortunately, left a bitter taste in my mouth. Recommended by the host of my Airbnb, my friends and I were eager to indulge in what we hoped would be a memorable dining experience, especially as it marked the final meal of our Belfast trip. However, what should have been a delightful evening quickly turned sour. Upon perusing the menu, we were served glasses of water by a female waitress, only to discover a fly resting on the water's surface. Politely, I requested a replacement, but to my surprise, no apology was extended, and even after my repeated requests, a new glass of water was not promptly provided. The disappointments continued to mount as our drinks were inexplicably delayed, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. To our dismay, upon finally receiving our drinks, we discovered an unknown a blurry foreign substance floating inside one of the beers. Once again, our concerns were met with a lack of apology or acknowledgment from the waitress. Frustrated by the series of mishaps, I sought out the supposed manager of the restaurant to address the situation. While he offered an apology and promised to provide our ordered drinks for free as compensation, it was disheartening to discover upon receiving the bill that the price of one of the drinks had not been removed. Expressing my disappointment, I requested the removal of the service charge. However, to my dismay, I was informed that the complimentary drinks were considered the compensation for the service charge. Feeling as though I had no other option, I reluctantly paid the fee. While I understand that mistakes can happen in any establishment, the lack of accountability, disregard for basic hygiene, and dismissive attitude towards customer concerns were deeply troubling. Furthermore, the subtle microaggressions encountered throughout our interaction left me questioning the inclusivity and professionalism of Mourne Seafood Bar. In conclusion, my experience at Mourne Seafood Bar was overshadowed by subpar service and unaddressed microaggressions, detracting from what should have been a memorable dining experience in Belfast.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. We both had whole roasted sea bass with vegetables. So fresh and well-cooked. My friend had panacotta for desert, she loved.

Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was disappointed in my dish. I got the Seafood Casserole which wasn’t well described on the menu and I wasn’t able to determine what fish were in the dish. Disappointed no scallops. My starter of avocado ceviche had almost no avocado. The sticky toffee pudding tasted old.

Visiting from Dublin. Booked here for dinner. We were very happy with out meals. Really well prepared and tasty. Our waitress was really nice and friendly. Definitely will be back.

Lovely little restaurant, lighting great, music good, service excellent and food was great. I had the seafood chowder to start which was absolutely delicious. The scampi main was also lovely with a nice amount of sauce and delicious salad. complementary water always welcome and the Rioja by the glass is highly recommended.

Excellent value for money, with fresh ingredients and a very classic seafood menu. Chowder was the star of the show for me, and the Carlingford oysters hit the spot. As a manager of a seafood restaurant back home, it was nice to be the other side of the experience. The service was pleasant and not over bearing, a quick recommendation on specials and then into a simple and quick dining experience. Would happily return next time I’m in Belfast.

Looking at the dark lights in the store from the outside, I thought it was not open, but in fact it was open and there were customers in the store; their oysters were crispy but very small; there were six langoustines in a portion, which looked very good. It was ok but the food was bland and tasteless.

What a fantastic eveneing. Myself and my Partner came here to celebrate our 2nd anniversary (as it was where we had our first date) and we were blown away by the kindness of the staff and of course, the quality of the food. We were accomodated in every way, with well wishes for our anniversary and fulfilling the request of letting us have the table at which we had our first date! Hats off especially to Scott and Eva for outstanding customer service, friendly nature and welcoming personalities. Keep setting the bar for kindness! Will for sure be back for anniversary number 3!

Service very poor, felt as an English person we were ignored in favour of local customers. Waitress attitude dreadful. Food no better than OK. Definitely not London standards but London prices.

We made a booking ,we were very interested in trying this restaurant. I ordered Fish & chips, usually very good. The fish was OK it was on a bed of over cooked, reheated chips. I ate the best ones. My wife order the seabass on the bone. She asked the waitress to have it deboned. It wasn't. When I went to pay the bill she said she hadn't asked the chef. There was a 10% service charge on the bill. All in all it was a disappointing experience. I will not be back.

Update. My second time here and the place seems to have become a victim of its own success. Short staffed in the kitchen. Staff running around everywhere trying to keep everyone happy. This causes a drop on morale and a massive drop in the atmosphere. Still a great place to eat. After a lengthy day of meetings and more Guinness than I would usually drink, we arrived at Mourne in a slightly dilapidated and tired state. We were served quickly and efficiently and the food was amazing, being a lazy git I asked if they could shell the crustacean but was unable to accommodate due to a large table ordering before us, that said the food was lovely but the real highlight was a man named Concobhar (praying I spelt that right) he makes the best old fashioned cocktails I have had since Greek Street and went out of his way to provide excellent service and good conversation. All in all a great experience and highly recommended.

Amazing experience, I went here with my partner, everything was incredible. We had the natural oysters, the seabass with tiger prawns, the monkfish scampi, the chocolate fondant and the green and social verdejo.

Great night in the Mourne Seafood on Saturday night. We were a party of 5 . We had a selection of starters including salt and chilli squid and mussels beautiful . Sea bass hake and beef for main courses all excellent desserts were panacotta and sticky toffee pudding delicious. I must also recommend the coconut margaritas beautiful! I went with a group of 6 people, who I would say know food well, and have eaten at this restaurant several times. For a bill of £400, you would expect exceptional food, however, that was far from the case. Honestly, everything we ordered could’ve been cooked better at home or even bought from M&S for better quality. It lacked salt and flavour. If you even think of getting the fish and chips, instead stay home and order from your favourite takeaway! The seafood chowder was bland, and the crabs were far too sweet it tasted like desert. We couldn’t even put a spoon through the stinky toffee pudding. This is the first Google review I have ever done, but as a group that previously loved the mourne seafood bar, we surely won’t be back any time soon.

If you don't make a reservation online, it's impossible to have a table there. Please ensure you proceed to the end until receive an email confirmation. I made a mistake in the first time. The food is great. The seafood is fresh and cooked just right. I really enjoyed the Casserole which has fish, shells, crab, shrimp, etc. I can taste all kinds of seafood in one bowl. The fish and the bread are my favourite. The Crab Claw tastes good but it is not recommended to someone who is in a date... I saw a gentleman having problem with the claws... it may take you an hour to finish it if you want to keep your hands clean! I was in a rush thus I asked the restaurant to serve everything at once. The restaurant showed their flexibility while maintained its great quality.

Fantastic food and staff in a no frills restaurant

Very overrated for food and service here. Much better options in Belfast. Our group of 4 was quite disappointed. While about half the food was really good, the other half was barely just ok. But it's the service that really makes this place a joke. First off, the oysters, fish & chips, & mussels were all very good. But that is true at most places in Belfast. So nothing to make this places any better than anywhere else. The coconut prawns were awful and not sure why their chowder gets good reviews but it was nothing special and had too much dill. Some of the other food we got was disappointing as well. But what really made the visit terrible was the service. Not only is it extremely slow, but expect incompetence and rudeness if you visit here. I'm not sure how a place that is so popular cannot grasp the concept that not everyone wants to pay on just one bill. They literally cannot figure out how to separate a bill for a table. BEFORE we ordered we specifically asked our waitress to separate our bill in 2. We had 2 couples and each couple wanted to pay for themselves (I know, a totally absurd concept, right?) The waitress at first seemed utterly confused by the request. I literally had to explain it as if talking to a 1st grader. But then she said "OK" and so I thought it was settled. (If she had just said, "we can't do that" then it would have been fine. But no, she said ok). Then, after dinner we literally waited 20 minutes and no one came by to bring us a bill. So I just walked up to the counter and said we are leaving and need to pay our bills. Well, the manager came over and aggressively put the bill down on the counter (just 1 bill, not 2) and said, "if you want to pay separately then YOU can add it up and tell me how much you are going to pay each". She then just walked off and came back a few minutes later and said, "why do you want to pay separately anyway". Seriously??? You run a business in a busy city that gets hundreds of thousands of visitors every year and you STILL can't grasp that not everyone wants to pay in just 1 bill?? Customer service here is severely lacking. I get it, paying with just 1 bill is common place in Northern Ireland and that is how the locals like to pay, but not all your customers are locals! Not everyone in the world does it the way you do. Doesn't make your way better than ours or vice versa, but learn how to treat your customers. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE

Went for lunch here. Didn't like the idea of 10% added on the bill even though the waiter mentioned that the tip was already on the bill. Very American and presumptive.

Enjoyed delicious meal, starters were especially tasty. Disappointingly the restaurant was absolutely freezing to the point us and every other table had to sit in our coats and nothing seemed to be done to address this by the staff - still had a 10% service charge added to the bill despite this. Upstairs room where we ate lacked any sort of atmosphere.

We had a very disappointing experience here. Having been diagnosed with bowel cancer for the second time, earlier in the year, I recently had a pan-proctocolectomy which involves very major surgery. At the same time I had a permanent ileostomy. The wound on my bottom has been slow to heal and is very painful. Sitting is not yet possible for me and I have to lie on my side when at rest. I’m determined not to let this spoil my enjoyment of life though, so I’ve been carrying on as usual. We called in and booked a table at the Mourne Seafood Bar and explained to the person taking the booking that I’d need one of the bench seats at the side of the restaurant in order to lie down to eat. When we got to the restaurant the following day I told the server I had to lie down to eat because of having had major surgery and was told it wasn’t a problem. So far so good, but once the food had arrived I was told that I couldn’t have my feet up on the bench. I’d removed my shoes before hand and I was being careful not to spread out along the bench, but the solution offered involved me having my feet up on a separate stool, but in a sitting position. This wasn’t possible for me under the circumstances. I didn’t move my feet in the end and nothing else was said, but the damage had been done. I felt embarrassed and upset, and it just killed my appetite. I didn’t enjoy the meal. We ate and drank up as quickly as we could in order to leave the restaurant where we no longer felt welcome. To my shame, I lost my temper on the way out and raised my voice and swore at the front line staff. This was totally inappropriate and regret having done so. At the same time though, the incident had totally ruined my own and my wife’s enjoyment of the evening. During the exchange with the staff I was told it was the head chef who had objected to my feet being up on the bench. He or she failed to put in an appearance and left the more junior staff to deal with the situation. For the record I would have much preferred to sit comfortably had I been able to do so. I also felt the need to describe the surgery to the staff and show them my stoma in order to justify myself. That was a most embarrassing experience. We’ll certainly never be going back to be humiliated there ever again. To be fair the front line staff had all been lovely and I apologise for shouting and swearing at them. The head chef though clearly has a problem with hidden disabilities and handicaps, so if you come into either category I recommend that you go somewhere more accommodating.
