Excellent meal and service, couldn’t fault a thing, will definitely be back

Superb food and good service, it’s a great location for the sunset Just wish they did a basic fish and chips on their lunch menu (ok I am a peasant) 😀

Been visiting Barmouth for over 10 years now but this was our first visit to the Norbar...and wow , fantastic food & drink , top notch service and a great atmosphere too...all with stunning views across the bay . Highly impressed and would 100% recommended giving Norbar a try. We'll definitely be going again the next time we're in Barmouth. As an aside, I would also recommend advance booking as the place can get very busy at time's.

Very bang average. When I see ‘seafood restaurant’ I have to try but it’s not really a speciality here. We had spaghetti gamberoni and it was completely bland, no sauce, no seasoning. Literally just spaghetti with a few prawns on top Seafood papillote also very bland. Overpriced for what you get. Also £6 a pint is extortionate!!! The best thing about this place was the view and the amazing waiting staff. The waiters were absolutely fantastic and service was second to none. Shame about the food.

Brilliant! Loved this place! I really love that there is a decent kids menu with real food for them, not just the usual "kid friendly" rubbish they can learn from. It does help that our child is open minded buy we havnt fed her kids menu stuff ever, so this was a unique time where she could order a meal of her own rather than us dishing her up good wholesome food from our plates of good food. The fish was delicious 😋 portions perfect Desserts incredible! And the staff were really kind and fun and attentive. Thank you for a great night!

Always great to have a beer at the Norbar, even when not eating. Visited on Saturday afternoon, Excellent Erdinger and Prosecco. I almost had a Shipyard, but both the Bar staff and myself after much laughter, thought the Weisse beer was the right choice on this occasion. I will definitely have a Shipyard next time. 🤣🤣👍

Absolutely exquisite seafood. Wish we could come here regularly, the place is perfection. Great atmosphere, superlative dishes and wine, wonderful service and setting. Book ahead!

This review is for the takeaway part of the norbar, the catch, not for the main restaurant. Went for lunch at midday yesterday. We were the only clients, so service was prompt. We ordered the salt and pepper squid, which was delicious. My praise ends there however. The battered black pudding was served still stone cold in the centre. The battered stuffing ball, while an interesting idea, was starch on search, dry and inedible, and the chips were also undercooked. We won't be back.

Fabulous place to get a nice bottle of wine and check out the sunset. Wonderful fish eatery. Didn't get a chance to eat but definitely going back another time. ♥️🙏

Food and the place it's self is lovely with great view however when we went they had only half the menu. and it was sorry I haven't got that so we had to change the order so unfortunately the lower score today maybe next time we will be able to give full marks

we came for my partners birthday, the service was great and the food was on another level! Robert served us and was so friendly and welcoming from the beginning. Would 111100000/10 recommend. The tomahawk steak and lobster was perfect.

Beautiful place overlooking water with good food. The strange things were that there was a full bar but they couldn't really make cocktails. The wine selection was good but really here to talk about the pizza. My wife ordered the hake which was really good. I ordered a pizza with a spicy sausage on it. Just a note to those who go here, be careful with the pizza toppings. The pizza here is very good, great crust, great sauce using San Marzano tomotoes...loved everything .....except. This beautiful pizza came with something called wurst on it. I thought is was their term for some other type of Italian sausage but instead it was some type of wiered banger or hot dog cut up on a pizza....maybe the strangest thing I have ever seen on a pizza of this type. No problem, I picked it off but the pizza also came with some type of creme(sour cream or marzcapone, not sure) which really ruined the pizza, turned it to mush. It also had peppers on it which should have been put on raw but were sauteed and mushy. Overal, don't hesitate to order this pizza but just ask them to hold the objectionalble parts and put more of that delicious Italian spicey sausage that was great..

Just passed here with my motorbike; had oysters & grilled squid. Was just superb! Unfortenately I couldn t have a nice glass of matching wine due to the motorbike. Hope to return here certainly.

Love the system of the take away, but I've had better. We had the fish tacco thinking there would be different species, but just 4 cod bites in a slaw wrap, nice and clean but would wait for fresh chips next

Beautiful food - nice service, friendly but not intrusive. Highly recommend the prawn starter & hake main. Rostis were large and filling but glad we ordered some side veg. Very nice wine options by the glass. Restaurant full and need to book. ( ask for window seat if possible for view of Sea/ sunset) No children’s menu but pizzas were available plus meat/ veggie options. Staff tidying up and ready to finish by 9:30/10 pm so we didn’t linger for coffee. ( I think they had been working since lunch & looked pretty tired !)

Myself and my friend were visiting the area for a short golfing holiday. We set out to try and find a restaurant or pub that served something a little better than pub grub and pizza. Our first two evenings were spent at nearby pubs, they were fine but the menu choice was limited and it was ok pub grub at both. We settled on the Norbar having driven passed it and like the location and general look of the place. The online menu looked good so we booked in for a Wednesday night, the only night they were open during our stay. Firstly the location is beautiful, high on a hill overlooking the countryside and the sea. We were greeted by some lovely staff and when it was pointed out that I was deaf and would struggle to hear, the waitress put herself out to communicate and find a suitable table away from noise such as music speakers, which is unusual and very much appreciated. The menu isn’t massive but a good selection of meals which would appeal to most people. We had fish starters and mains followed by a dessert and I have to say we were very pleased with everything we ate. All the food was tasty and well presented. The restaurant was almost full on a Wednesday evening which, must be testimony to its quality amongst a desert of quality restaurants in the area. If I ever go back to this area this restaurant will be on my must visit list for eating.

The food was lovely but it's the view that really makes this restaurant special. We sat on the terrace which is first come first served so no need to book. Our table looked straight out over the sea (if you ignore the road directly below!) so we had a perfect view of the sun setting over the waves. The food was very good. My husband and I love seafood but the restaurant also has a pizza oven so my 14 year old daughter was happy too! I had scallops to start with were delicious if a little expensive (£12 for 3) then sea bass which was really good. The food was just the right level of fancy! The staff were very friendly and the food arrived quite quickly. I was quite surprised that it wasn't table service but it didn't spoil a lovely experience. I'd definitely seek it out if you're a foodie visiting Barmouth!

This restaurant used to cater for vegans, but not now. There's some sad excuse for a meal of leeks. Nothing else and no dessert, except for sorbet. Yukkk. There are a million vegan desserts available frozen to keep in your freezer. Vegan burgers! Widely available. Vegan grates cheese, can be frozen and added to pizza. I felt like I had gone back to 1980 where vegans don't exist.

We had the Tomahawk steak sharing platter and oh my goodness was one of the best meals we've had out. We go out alot for food so we are foodies and this main did not disappoint. Everything was perfect! Amazing service aswell from Robert. Thankyou so much!

On the whole the food was good with swift service and attentive staff. Excellent pizzas and fab spaghetti gambarini. The only disappointment was the garlic flatbread - very dry and not very garlicky.

Excellent lunch, Salmon and Avocado salad followed by Tropical Elton Mess. Staff were really nice. Hot day sat outside in the shade with our dog. Would definitely return.

We went here with kids, they had the pizza which they enjoyed. The steak and the lobster was good we just felt it was a little pricy, but other than that it was a nice treat.

A quick stop for a coffee before heading home, probably the best view you’ll have sitting on the terrace overlooking the bay.

We usually love the Norbar, but this is the first time since the new menu started that we have been. The Starters were nice, We had scallops and the prawns. The mains were a big disappointment though. One of the pizzas was massively undercooked so was far too doughy and basically inedible apart from round the crust. I had the seafood En papillotte, the sea food was chewy and the new potatoes were undercooked. All in all a big disappointment compared to last year. Also it’s much more expensive than last year, £20 for a pizza!

Arrived and were told the time we had to leave ready for the next guests, which I appreciate but there was no welcome along with this at all. It came across like we were an inconvenience. The food was nice but not worth the high price tag. We've been before when it wasn't a seafood restaurant and were much more impressed, by the food and the service, so we were disappointed this time.

Had a wonderful meal, I had octopus casserole as a starter and it was the best I had ever tasted, my son in law had seafood en papillote and he said it was great, my 3 great granddaughters all thoroughly enjoyed themselves and our waitress made them extremely welcome indeed. My main was dressed crab with frites and it was so plentiful that I had to take half home ( I can only eat small portions due to my health). We are seriously thinking of going back to Barmouth for the weekend and going back here again, I would love to get the octopus recipe and have about 80% of it, ( I am undergoing chemo and it affects my tastebuds so I need highly flavoured foods) , It will be worth the drive from Manchester just to have it again. Cannot wait to go there again whilst I have the chance

Absolutely the best seafood place we have ever visited. The Octopus casserole was delicious and we even asked for the recipe. The whole meal was superb.

Wow this place is 5 star all the way. As a party of 8 we all enjoy our food and the pudding. Service was first class from the moment we walked in until we left. My three little grandson say it’s the best food and pudding they ever had. We had our little dog with us and the waitress had show us to our table in a quiet corner. The restaurant got a few tables inside to sit with your dog however by 5. Pm dog not allowed inside. I may never be in that area again to eat at this lovely place I like to thanks everyone for your good service and amazing food. If anyone is in that area check this restaurant out. Been driving past this restaurant for years and just never visited. That all changed on Wednesday for my 30th Birthday. I will keep this review simple. Fantastic service, food and views. The waiter that we had (he recently turned 60 and had a Yorkshire accent) was incredible. So hard to find good customer service like that and he made our visit even better. The food was out of this world, the best steak & lobster I ever had. Thank you for making my day so special. 10/10, would recommend. Can’t wait to go back.

Asked if serving food, simple question. Waiter spoke poor English so confused about response so decided to just have a drink. He followed me, a lady, being aggressive at which point I decided to leave. Family outside. We have a holiday home locally (40 yrs) and this used to be a great place to go. Now it's poor service, expensive, and it's not about the customer. None of us will return. Not recommended as my views are mirrored by the locals who also no longer frequent the place. It takes more than a nice sea view to run a successful business.

My other half booked this as we both love seafood. Let's just say every box was ticked. The food, the wine, the service, the music and the pictures on the wall. One of the allround best restaurants we have been too.

First of service! The lady that welcomed us was really nice but our waiter was very rude and unhelpful! He was moody and didn't seem to care! When we were sitting looking at the menu he kept asking us if we were ready to order and was very impatient. When we were ordering he made us rudely interrupted and told us we had to order going around the table but when food came it was chaos....so didn't see why he had to do that. Food was ok... I had scallops which were really good but my lobster for mains was over cooked! My partner had the prawns which were so over cooked they were rubbery... The atmosphere here was nice and calm! The view was stunning! It was the only thing I really liked here! The only reason why I gave 2 stars instead of 1

Food was amazing bit more expensive than most places in the area but 100% worth it. Its not just sea food so if theres a fussy eater in your party theres even freshly pizza

Visited during a stay in Harlech. Judging by the menu we expected some great food. Sad to say that it was a bit of a letdown. The scallops though plentiful were not cleaned properly, still sinewy and not grilled properly. Very greasy over abundance of...

Good food, great views, loved it, its a bit expensive but worth it

We sat outside with 2 dogs, the staff were really helpful and explained how the setup works when seated outside. The food was great and a really good price for the quality.

We stopped off for lunch time in to fish and chip shop side very nice pleasant atmosphere and very kind staff shame no tea and coffee available the food was very nice well presented chips could of been a bit crispy exerlant value for money all cooked fresh to order which is my preferred way

We ate here during our recent stay at Trawsdir Caravan Park. I can honestly say this place is incredible. The food was delicious, the service was unbeatable and the views are stunning. Well worth a visit! We would definitely go again if we are ever back in the area!

Went to NorBar looking for lunch and was astounded by the freshly cooked steak ciabatta, which came with a fancy side salad and a luscious pomegranate relish. We have just had the most lovely evening at the Norbar,we booked our table the day before and we're offered a choice of tables, we like the tall tables,the menu is a great mixed selection of food from pizza to fish dishes, we had fishcakes...

Chips were under cooked. The fried stuffing ball was amazing. The 2 people preparing take outs were fab! The young guy 'running' it tried to help but caused mess then help. He tried placing a big order in one bag. Which when I got it back home the curry tub had spilt everywhere so ended up having to share mine with my daughter

We went about four o'clock to be told food had stopped at half three but there is nothing to tell you this as you walk in . Food start again at five told by a member of staff . The manager was a bit rude as we tried to have a laugh with him the staff were really friendly
