Oat Hill in Harborough

Came for Sunday lunch with 7 family members today. Three of us ordered the nut roast…and it wasn’t a nut roast?? It was rice with raisins, pumpkin seeds and peppers (no nuts) in the shape of a nut roast. None of us ate it, it wasn’t very nice and not what was described on the menu. None of the staff members asked why nobody ate it! So we all paid almost £20 for three potatoes, one parsnip and two chunks of carrot each. They had no alternative milk for the two of us who can’t have dairy. The doors were propped open for staff ease of access so it was freezing and we were eating in our coats (food which went cold because of the draft!). Only giving two stars because the mulled wine was nice and my family who had turkey and pork belly enjoyed their meals.

Last minute choice for Sunday lunch, neither have been before, and wow it was amazing. The staff we lovely and friendly. We both had the beef which was perfect, tender and plenty of it. There was lots of different veg and the yorkies were large and crispy. Will definitely be back, I have my eye on the pork belly next!

We had a delicious Sunday roast which was beautifully presented and served with plenty of vegetables. Recommend the turkey and sausage meat stuffing. Yummy. Attentive friendly service too.

A wonderful Sunday roast with delicious cocktails and wonderful service! Thank you to Will, Tom and Joey for being great hosts and for squeezing us in at the last minute. Dog friendly pub, which is always a bonus, would definitely recommend!!

Not up to usual standard we have not been for a while as the cost of everything makes going out a treat, but as it was my son's Birthday we decided to go for Sunday lunch. We were disappointed with the quality of the food my beef was tough and we sent back the cauliflower cheese because it was burnt. Wonder if they have a different chef because the standards have dropped considerably since the last time we visited.

Went with my sister for something to eat on a Sunday afternoon. The place is a nice traditional pub with seating indoors and out. Toilets were clean. We both chose the beef roast, my sister liked it more rare and myself more medium. The food was absolutely fantastic. Every item well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The beef serving was generous. Every bite was tasty - the carrots, the potatoes, the green veg. The food was served nice and warm, perfect temperature. The girl serving was very pleasant and helpful as well as the chap serving the food and both came round asking whether we wanted more gravy. Great food, great location, great service. Well done.

In March we booked the Oat Hill for our 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration. The venue was in a private area at the bottom of the garden, a marquee with canopied area for dancing and our own private bar. Almost a secret garden. From start to finish attention to detail was brilliant and Chris (the Boss) bent over backwards to accommodate our requests. The Marquee was decorated so prettily. Our main concern having it in the garden was the weather but contingencies were put into place in case of it being cold or wet. Nothing was to much for the team. We were given many compliments by our guests of the courteous and friendly manner they had. Thanks go to the Chef Jo... the food was faultless, with creativity, all guests requiremrnts were catered for. Huge thanks to Shannon and Georgia who managed to keep me calm and again nothing was too much for them. We found the perfect place to have our celebration.

We arrived a little late for my 60th Birthday lunch with my wife and 9 year old daughter. Instantly they said no problem and would we like to order our drinks and sit in the lovely bar area and look at the menus which we gladly did. We went through to the restaurant and I have to say the lunch was excellent. Lovely starters, beef and gammon roasts were amazing. I was then treated to a Birthday dessert and a Stein of Lager! I can not recommend the OatHill enough as the food and the service/friendliness of the staff especially was fantastic.

What a disappointing experience, we had booked a table of 4 for 1.30 pm for Sunday lunch. On entering the building first impressions were not good as it looked very tired and ropy. We were shown to our table and ordered our drinks, which all arrived at different times, where one arrived after others nearly finished theirs! We had ordered 3 gambas pill pill starters which when arrived, it was nothing like what was described on the menu. It seemed like 5 prawns on a hot plate of pasta sauce and tasted very poor. Three of us ordered a roast and one pasta dish, when arrived all the dishes were not piping hot and unfortunately the pasta dish had to be sent back. My pork belly should have come with shards of scratchings but nothing there. The only good thing was the gravy, witch saved the meat. I had to pay £2 extra for a flat and tasteless Yorkshire pudding when the dish was at a price of £17.95 which is quite a lot for a roast. The veg on the plate were very undercooked for my liking, even tho I like my veg with a crunch. I hope this review will help the chef to improve. Unfortunately we will not be going back.

We had high expectations after seeing the food on Instagram. The menu was a good choice of Sunday roasts and a few pasta options.3 of us had a starter of pil pil prawns. There was no garlic or chilli. The 5 prawns were served in what can only be described as a tomato passata sauce which was disappointing. For mains 2 had the roast beef. 1 had belly pork and the other chicken and chorizo pasta. When it arrived the pasta dish was cold cold. That went straight back. The roast dinners were warm at best. Very overpriced at starters £10 and roasts and pasta £19. We travelled 45 minutes to this place and will not be returning. We are travelling the Leicestershire area in search of the best Sunday roast.This most certainly wasn’t it, 👎🏾 At best a 5/10👎🏾

Went on a Friday night, around 19.30, the restraunt is small and we were shown to our table inthe corner of the room. There were two other couples in the room, the lighting in the room was a little dark, so much so that my partner had to use the light on her phone to look at the menu. We were approached by the waiter to tell us that unfortunately there were a few items not available on the menu but there were also a few specials. He came back to take our drinks order, but once again there were some of the items on the drinks menu that were unavailable. We eventually order a drink, and began to order our food . As my first choice was unavailable ( moules marinare ) I plumped for thr mini mare, a fresh sea food selection another member of the party had asked a question about the chilli special. Another menber of staff came out to advise us the the chilli was infact a starter and was chilli arancini, so the menus had to come out again. 2mins later the staff member comes out again to tell me the mini mare has to be ordered in advance, asked where it says it has to be ordered in advance, he just replied, " on the menu" , well i couldn't see it, but hey ho. I ordered the steak an mushroom linguine. My wife ordered her customary steak, well done of course. The food arrived in good time, i also had the starter of oriental calamari, while tasty, the calamari wes a bit chewy, but hunger got the best of me and I finished the dish. The mains arrived, again in good time, but my portion of steak and mushroom linguine was, for the price a little meagre . My wifes steak while just about cooked well done, was over seared with a slightly acrid taste and alot of chewy central fat. So all in all not a good meal and for the price i expected alot better ☹️

I’m vegan and my daughter is vegetarian so felt reassured by the menus available on their website & the fact that they advertise both vegan & vegetarian options. However, no vegan options on the menu & upon request only 1 option available - burger. It was pleasant enough but no plant based cheese or mayo or mushrooms so a bit basic and seemed more like an afterthought. Come on it’s 2023 & we need a more sustainable diet! This lack of inspiration will never inspire the carnivores. What was more surprising was only 1 vegetarian main & it was garlic bread which I view as a side rather than a meal in itself. On the positive side, ambience was nice but we were only table for a short while before only one other party arrived so a little quiet. The service was attentive & very welcoming. They made an amazing mock tail with dry ice which was magical. Food overall was average. Fish n chips x 3 (strange, dry peas) & not enough tartar sauce. Boring french fries with burgers (both vegan & non). Although my daughter did enjoy her sausage, mash, normal peas & gravy. Would I return? No - sorry. Too many places serving far better food.

I have booked (well in advance) a table in the restaurant for 15 people for a dinner after my daughter First Holly communion. I was told there is a wedding on that day but if we arrive at 3:30pm it will be ready for us. On arrival we were allocated in the pub, by the bar and door to go to the smoking area and toilets! Not ideal for celebration with children under age of 8 and family members who travel all the way from different countries! When we complain, we were told the wedding is not finished and there is nothing they can do… After nearly an hour of phone calls to try to find alternative solutions we managed to book Waterfront. I wish to book this instead at the beginning! Staff at Oat Hill was not helpful at all and not apologetic after ruining family celebrations!

Visited the oathill for the first time and did not disappoint. Staff were so welcoming and friendly, food was hot, fresh and delicious! Food and service we're fine but we were not warned at the time of booking that there was going to be karaoke in the bar. It was loud and mostly tuneless which rather prevented conversation. We won't be going back.

The Oat Hill has a lovely garden full of plants and twinkly lights. Tables are socially distanced, and everything c-word seems to be well in hand. I met friends for drinks - there's a great gin menu, and the pitchers of cocktails are delicious.

The pub was welcoming from the very start as we were greeted by a smiling bartender and led to our table outside (we booked for the BBQ). The waitress was a delight and took our drink order and then explained the order of our evening (due to Covid, things were a little different). The cocktails were to die for! We had 'She has the Last Word' and 'Raspberry Daiquiri'. The food was a BBQ Greek platter of lamb, chicken and pork meats. Also, sides of potatoes, bread, salad, halloumi, olives, hummus and dips. It was all wonderfully presented. The meat was very tender. Our desserts were equally grand. As pub food goes, this was at the top level. I wholeheartedly recommend it. I certainly come back here again!

What can I say they have done it again! A perfect selection of dishes for their take away menu, placing the order is quick and easy as always. Delivered in the car park by a friendly member of staff with safety in mind. We ordered the Sunday dinner option for the family and it was superb with all the trimmings plus cauliflower cheese (to die for) and pigs in blankets! It was as tasty as if we were dining in and the portions were just right and the plates were empty! Just a fantastic idea and I’m glad I’m still able to get my Oat Hill food fix in this difficult time! Cannot recommend enough get your orders in people!! Well done team we will be back very soon!!

I had the fish and chips from their take away menu it was perfect as always. I would highly recommend everyone tries there take away meals. We haven’t been here for a couple of years as our last couple of visits for Sunday lunch had been extremely disappointing. However we’d heard that things had changed for the better so decided to give it another try. What can I say apart from I wish we hadn’t left it so long! Our Sunday lunch was faultless, everything was beautifully cooked and piping hot. The staff were friendly and service was excellent. We will definitely come back.

3 of us (mature women,in age anyway!) took a chance on the Oat Hill and were all very impressed! The staff were all very friendly, but professional, and welcoming. The food was delicious: prawn linguine was the best she had ever had, fish and chips very tasty, and vegan fish & chips (battered banana blossom) was new to me but was lovely. Cocktails were delicious but lethal!! All praise to all the staff, they are all assets. Would highly recommend Oat Hill and will be back.

Writing rave reviews here for their Sunday dinner and their cocktail lab evenings. We came by for a family Sunday dinner in February and we all agreed it was very delicious. (They also made the dog very welcome which is always a win in our book! Giving him water and treats.) We also visited last weekend on a Saturday for the cocktail lab which was a great experience as we had pre booked a table. staff were attentive and chatty and seemed genuinely invested in people having a good time and experimenting with the cocktails. The attention to detail on the themed cocktails was fab and we can’t wait to go back.

I first visited attending The Harry Potter themed night (which was Insanely brilliant in every way) and have been hooked since then! I spend most of my Saturdays there with friends trying out the tasty cocktails on offer, the food is superb the best Sunday lunch in town without a doubt! The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming and start making the drinks as soon as they see us walk through the door, such a nice atmosphere in the bar area! The Narnia night was also fantastic such attention to detail with walking through the wardrobe, to the decorated ceiling, the themed food and cocktails was just superb a great effort from the team! Can’t recommend this place enough just fantastic!!

I decided to have my leaving do at The Oat Hill this week and I'm SO pleased that I did because...The food is absolutely delicious! The staff are all helpful, friendly and polite.The room we ate in is beautifully decorated. Everything was organised to perfection. A massive thank you to the manager, Chris, for being incredibly accomodating and helpful with the organisation of everything and his great staff for a brilliant night! Will definitely be back and highly recommend.

Having driven by The Oat Hill many times we decided to give it a try today, and we were not disappointed!

My 3rd visit to this lovely pub/restaurant with excellent food and very helpful extremely polite staff. With a nice relaxing atmosphere in the bar and the same for the restaurant it was a great way to spend a wet windy Sunday afternoon.

Had excellent roast beef and all trimmings - the yorkshire puddings were the best Ive had. Frangipane Tart was crummy!

I came mid December with my family for a lovely Christmas lunch. We ordered off the Christmas menu which we preordered so that the food can be made fresh I ordered turkey which was delicious. And my husband order the sea bass which he said was amazing. Many other in our party said food was wonderful And staff were attentive will be returning in the new year for sure. Last time here was back in October. Recently visited again for a second time on Xmas day. Generally such a perfect atmosphere. And all the courses were extremely enjoyable. We arrived as a table of 4 and left more than satisfied. The roasted chestnut soup was to die for.

Closed on Boxing Day? We travelled specially for some lovely cocktails on Boxing Day evening - a busy pub night for brits. To find the place locked up, young lad inside told us they were dead at 3pm so closed. Really? Before evening drinks? Ridiculous we were also turned away for food before Christmas because they had a big party in... well what about bar food? A sandwich etc isn’t too hard. Another place run by kids I’m afraid, easy option to turn away people... no thanks will stick to the cherry tree over the roadyou’d think with competition opposite they’d be on but clearly not

After my husband's funeral on 2nd December, family and friends got together at The Oat Hill. The food was excellent and the staff could not have been better. Nothing was too much trouble. I look forward to visiting again in happier times. Jackie

Had a great meal in the restaurant with friends. Although the restaurant was quieter than normal the meal and attention of the staff was first class. Really appreciated the liqueur samples. I’m sure we will return again soon.

The Oat Hill Harry Potter Event!

Wonderfully themed decor, a deliciously creative menu and a very warm welcome, I LOVED it! I can certainly recommend The Oat Hill for a great family evening.

This was our first time visiting the Oat Hill for their Food and Wine tasting evening. All of the 7 courses we excellent tasting and a credit to the kitchen, with the french onion soup and the moules particular highlights along with the petit fours made by the in-house pastry chef. Each course was accompanied with a wine as chosen by a local wine merchant who was very knowledgeable.

It was our first time eating here and all the staff were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble and the food was amazing The restaurant manager Chris was most welcoming and always on hand if you needed anything. This is our new place to take family and friends. Amazing food amazing staff what more could anyone want

Visited on Sunday 27th of this month. Nothing was too much trouble. It was very busy, but we were still served quickly. The food here is honestly top notch. The beef especially. Well Done.

When my fiance and I booked we had no idea it was the day before a new menu launch. I was lucky enough to be able to try their new jambalaya which could very well have been the best vegetarian meal I have ever had, my fiance had a steak cooked perfectly. Service was top notch, never leaving an empty glass too long, being around at all times and refilling the table water whenever it got low. I will be back to try the new menu as soon as I an and cannot recommended here enough.

Have been to The Oat Hill before in the summer months and thought we would try it again. Came in for dinner on Saturday and what a treat! The most beautifully candle lit restaurant and a warm welcome were waiting for us. The staff are a credit to the business, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, nothing is too much trouble. I understand it was the young waitresses first shift but you couldn’t tell!
