Best place for cake selection. Helpful staff. Lovely experience

Wouldn't ever return, so disappointed by the standard of the food, my partner was served 'snotty' Eggs Benedict, fair play to the guy behind the counter, he must have been watching to see our facial expressions when served. He was straight over to ask if there was an issue. They returned the plate and the eggs were cooked better. The presentation was absolutely shocking, we ordered Croque Monsieur with a little bit of lettuce at the side, Eggs Benedict tea and coffee at the cost of £34.20. What an absolute shambles of afternoon lunch. I would expect these prices at top notch café with a side of something. What a shame! I have emailed the below address and it has returned the email unfortunately?

The manager made the whole dining experience unpleasant, he constantly raised his voice at a staff that can be heard throughout the whole setting. Food was average.

I never miss the chance to visit this amazing place and get something delicious to eat/drink, or just order it online

Lovely breakfast here, I had porridge with pecans and maple syrup, husband had porridge and bacon and eggs. Friends of ours had the fry. Food was delicious, quick service, friendly staff. Lovely coffee. Highly recommend

We visited to Patisserie Valerie Cafe during our Edinburgh trip to relax. Nice and cozy place to drink coffee and eat dessert :)

Entered around lunchtime and felt like the place was untidy. Seated and order was taken. 2 coffees and 2 different cakes. We ordered 2 exactly the same, creme brulee lattes, and yet neither of them tasted like they had any 'creme brulee' in it, meaning, more than likely, the monin syrup They both had toffee sauce around the rim of the glass, but only one had been dipped into the demerara sugar. Coffee was incredibly weak, even for a latte. The cakes, mille-feullie and strawberry gateaux...stale, tasteless, lifeless. The cakes, as you walk in on your right-hand side, are completely open to the elements and are right next to the door. Hence, the staleness. The display just looked very sad. When eating the cakes, they just felt very processed and artificial. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice - he had a great smile and good energy. I will be avoiding all Patisserie Valerie's in the future.

Very poor and expensive. Tea? No English Breakfast. Earl Grey, then. No lemon. We were the only people in the place and they put a noisy American family so close to us that they couldn't sit down without us moving our chairs. We won't be back.

We came in late on a busy Sunday, kitchen was closed. However all we wanted was some cake and drinks. The lady greeted us politely and the gentleman working alongside her secured us a table which was cleaned before we got to it. The drinks, patisserie and service was fantastic and very welcoming. Thank you!

Had a voucher for cream tea scones were warm and delicious but on the small size, I bought a custard cream slice which was lovely but I was shocked at the price £5.95 for one 😲 I could not believe it .visited Edinburgh shop in rose street I won't be going back thank god that I didn't purchase a drink .

The Food was rubbish, the Coffe tasted like Expired milk, and We got kicked out for “blocking the way.” Unbelievable!

What an absolute gem of a place! Had afternoon tea with my husband and absolutely NOTHING could be improved on! From the food, staff and ambience … keep it up guys and girls!

The pastry is usually good, I love the cinnamon wheel, but I have to say a few days ago I ordered Benedict eggs and they were fine but the bread was still a bit frozen, really cold and hard to cut. Apart from that I like the place.

Amazing! Had afternoon tea with a gift voucher and it was delicious. Said I was vegetarian and was not a problem to get all veggie sandwiches. Scones were warm which was a nice touch. Good selection of cakes and all lovely. Staff were really nice and food came quick.

Sometimes I buy a whole cake from here, and I am usually satisfied with the quality of cake. Today I sat at the table and ordered a piece of cake, but it was too dry to eat. Only black forest gateau was alright though. I think it may depend on how the cake is fresh and old.

A few months ago, my partner purchased me an afternoon tea here as a present. And it was a delight. The cake were sublime, scones were morish and even the sandwiches felt special. The staff were helpful and friendly. A real treat! Thank you

We had a Buy-a-Gift voucher for afternoon tea which we used here today. The cafe was quite busy but we had called in at the right time and got a table straightaway. Staff were friendly and helpful, and our drinks and food arrived quickly. I'd requested vegetarian sandwiches and overall these were okay, although the cucumber sandwich was a bit underwhelming. Scones were absolutely delicious and cakes were really lovely and light. Overall this was a great experience and a nice treat.

We had a Buyagift voucher for afternoon tea. Tried to use it a few months ago but the manager said they had 2 people in for afternoon tea already and couldn't manage any more! He was rude and unwelcoming. Today we went back to try again and were warmly welcomed by a different man who could not have done more for us. His colleague who brought our tea & food was similarly very friendly & helpful. Afternoon tea was lovely (apart from sandwich fillings - both meat) and service was excellent. What a difference the change of staff made! 👏

Hey,ordered Birthday Cake for daughters birthday 🎂 Absolutely delicious 😋. Would highly recommend. DPD delivered the cake and came slightly damaged but Patesserie Cakes exceeded our expectations by giving £40 gift voucher for my daughter to spend in the Edinburgh shop. Well Done to you all👏

Der Besuch in diesem Kaffee war echt schlecht als wir herrein kamen wurden wir aufgefordert eine Maske aufzusetzen obwohl alle anderen keine Trugen, dies war nur die Spitze des Eisberges, denn dann standen wir im Geschäft nur blöd rum bis man uns einen Platz zugewiesen hat der dazu noch total klein war, da es einfach nur zwei zweier Tische waren die zusammen geschoben wurden.Als wir nach den Toiletten suchten stellten wir fest, dass sie im ersten Stock war.Aber im ersten Stock gab es nicht nur Toiletten, die dazu nur aus einer Bestand: Für Männer und Frauen gemischt.Da war ich schon etwas verärgert, doch es kam noch Schlimmer denn im ersten Stock gab es auch nocht Tische die alle lehr waren und größer als unserer.Der Kaffe kam und ich dachte ich träume der Typische Löffel zum Umrühren wurde hier ersetzt von einem Holtzstäbchen den es sonst bei einem Kaffee to go gibt und das an der Tankstelle.Als dann auch der Kuchen kam sah ich die blauen Einmalhandschue die der Kellner an hatte, doch diese hatte er wohl mehr mals getragen, denn sie waren schmutzig und ich musste mich ekeln als ich sah das diese Handschuhe mein Teller berührten wo mein Tiramisukuchen drauf war, der dann alles war, außer ein Tiramisukuchen : ( Ich empfele diesen Laden nicht weiter -1 ⭐️

We were disappointed when visiting today. We were greeted by someone telling us there was no chef today so no hot food, which was actually OK as we only wanted hot drinks & a snack. We saw promoted on the tables that if we downloaded the app we could save 20% off our order so decided to do that but were told they might not have what we wanted, before the guy walked off. We then said OK we'll just order at the table, from the table menu, which we still couldn't get a plain scone. We paid £11+ for 2 hot drinks & 1 piece of cake. The customer service wasn't good and the toilets were smelly & nothing special for a patisserie Valerie. All in all, the cafe doesn't live up to it's reputation at all, but the cake & coffee were tasty.

If I could rate this a zero star I'd gladly do so. This is the worst meal I've been served in Edinburgh. Soggy uncooked fish fingers which looked as though a blood transfusion would revive the pale and tasteless mess served in a bap. The tea was not Earl Grey but a regular brew the waiter served a second pot which again was not Earl Grey. I paid £13.95 for a meal which was Inedible. The assistant who took payment for this dreadful meal had the personality of a doughnut sugary and false.

It is a pity this review is only about the waiter and not the food (which we never even got to try!)! We, a family of 4 with a baby and a toddler entered the shop to sit in and have a bit of cake and maybe a cup of tea (our toddler was so excited to try a bit cake after spotting it in the window). Walking in the shop we were greeted by a grumpy man maybe 60 years old, we tried to place an order he told us we will have a long wait, and told us to do it on the app or online (i cant remember), we were happy enough to wait as we had been walking about the city all day. Then when we spoke to the man again he was rude yet again saying he has got to do an order (possibly a deliveroo or similar) and we will be waiting a while. We decided we were going to leave as i have never felt so much of a hassle for trying to give a shop my money! This man was the rudest waiter i have ever experienced, we will never be back if we see him through the window!

The place is cutely decorated and on a nice touristy street in Edinburgh. But the coffee, a latte, was weak and tasteless (I doubt they have an actual barista making the coffee); and the pastry cream in the eclair old and dry (ie stale).

Terrible service after the pandemic, upstairs is open but not allowed to sit, the downstairs are almost empty and the sofa is not allowed to sit.

Visited Sunday 13th February, terrible, Bagel was stale nearly saw the Salmon on it. Shared toilet upstairs and disgustingly messy, I would NOT EVER go back there it was a waste of £27.00

Toilets upstairs so not disabled friendly. Had afternoon tea booked, i asked if we got a choice of sandwiches but was told no, we just had to take what was put out. Sandwiches ok nothing special, more butter than filling. Scones were crunchy like rock cakes and we got no butter, jam or cream with them, had to ask for butter. Cakes were 10/10 delicious, asked for a take away box which we got but had to make it up ourselves. Staff not friendly and never asked if everything was ok or said goodbye when we left.

The friendly staff & good cappuccinowas the only positive. The cake was not fresh and we had to wait to sit in as the first floor was closed.

I love PV and was so pleased to find this one in Edinburgh as they've mostly closed down near my home. Unfortunately my excitement was short lived when we were told we couldn't eat in. No explanation was given, it was an hour before closing time and there seemed to be space. Thankfully, there are other great places to get your coffee and cake nearby.

Another place trying to scam you with a check in system of their own because apparently NHS track and trace does not work for them. Go in for a coffee come out with an app.

It's okay but it's not worth paying £20 for three small cakes that are old and so sweet.

Expensive and had ran out of what I would have liked. The pot of tea was lovely .

We had 2 poached eggs with bacon and a pot of tea. My husband had the same food with coffee. I am sorry to say,that I was very disappointed, as I have always been a loyal customer. The we're over cooked and the bacon was very hard. The waitress was really lovely 😍. Disappointed 😞

My boyfriend and I had our afternoon tea here and it was such a treat as it was our first date out during COVID. Ashley welcomed us very warmly and had been attentive and friendly to us throughout our whole stay. The cafe got a bit busy but I observed that she kept her cool despite some difficult customers. I could tell the staff were taking safety and hygiene very seriously - Ashley even had a very cute mask and she complimented my dress too! The sandwiches, scones, cakes and our hot chocolates were lovely and were presented quite nicely. I can't comment on the price as the experience was a gift from a friend.

Came in for afternoon tea. Loved it! Ashley made us very welcome and was attentive and friendly. Even the regional manager seemed pretty friendly too. Excellent!

Had breakfast here multiple times. Servers all polite and have you seated ASAP. Clean and hot food, went just before lunch and though the place was busy we got our food within 10mins. Very well managed shop. Best of all freshly made cakes ready to take away.

Premises in Rose St, weren't allowed upstairs, downstairs too cold so kept my coat on. Told waitress I didn't want mushrooms yet when the breakfast arrived guess what, on the plate was a portobello mushroom.

Had a WONDERFUL time at Patisserie Valerie today. We where served by the lovely Ashleigh. Ashleigh was attentive, kind and very professional. I could not have asked for better customer service or taster treats. We had the afternoon tea and it was exquisite, although i must say it could easily feed 3 as we where so full we had to take some home. Thankyou very much

I was with my mother eating a cake and some coffees, apart from being delicious, the waitress Ashly treated us super well, very polite, she wanted us to be comfortable. We recommend it 100%

We love coming here when we’re in Edinburgh. The food/cakes clearly are always good. But to be honest one of the best things is the exceptional customer service delivered by the lovely young lady Ashley the past two visits. She us so super attentive, polite and actually sounds like she’s interested in anything we say. It’s a joy to find customer service like this still alive in our capital city. 1st time visit, wandered past many times, but glad that I made the effort. Small but cosy, very cheery staff. Lovely lunch, only drawback is toilets upstairs, no lift being an old building.

My partner and I had a lovely brunch. Americano and Latte were delicious and felt of artisan coffee quality. Croque Monsieur and Halloumi sandwich were top notch! Plus Ashley and Patte were absolutely great and we felt welcome as in visiting a friend. Would come again!

Popped into this place on a very cold morning. The warmth of the staff and of the food drove the winter blues away. My wife and I have been to a few of these restaurants in this chain, so far this one has been a cut above the rest.

I had a Groupon voucher to enjoy, which I showed at the cash desk. I was shown to a super comfy booth seat with my friend and we had afternoon tea. I alerted my lovely waitress Anna about my nut allergies and how severe it is - she made sure I was made freshly made sandwiches from the kitchen due to this and she was careful about no contamination with my baked goods. The chef didn't realise Carrot Cake has walnuts and accidentally added this into my top tier of afternoon tea by mistake - this was spotted by my friend though and I was able to order a fresh slice of cake from the window display to replace it. I gave the leftover cake I didn't wanna chance eating due to possible contamination to a homeless man who was really pleased. The sandwiches were lovely and flavoursome with plenty of choice (egg mayo, smoked salmon, cucumber and ham and mustard, mmm) the scones light, fluffy and warm from the oven with plenty of clotted cream and a fine, big selection of mini Bonne Maman jams - yum! The mini quiches were tasty with a light crumbly pastry. We had plenty refills of pots of tea and hot chocolate which was fantastic. It felt very luxurious and indulgent and very good value - the Groupon voucher was only £19 instead of £25 for two people. My friend commented saying how she'd easily happily pay full price for the quality of service and food we received. I agreed. I'd happily revisit and take friends and family here. Thanks to Anna who was wonderfully empathetic with my nut allergies as her own son had issues in the past - she was super attentive, kind and warm. Dishes were cleared in a swift timely manner without feeling intrusive and each dish was explained with great detail and care. A real credit to the company! Thanks Anna for the fantastic service! I felt really looked after and a valued customer.Definitely would come back again. Thanks for the lovely afternoon tea!

A very appealing and satisfying meal. Quickly attended to and served promptly - it pays to show up early before the crowds turn up. A normally busy spot providing a sumptuous breakfast or a light delight - we had them both and would recommend this spot - albeit, it can be a bit pricey.

Visited as we were running late for an activity nearby and needed a quick breakfast beforehand and have eaten at one of the chain before so knew what to expect. Service was good, the girls working here were clearly working very hard whilst remaining friendly and helpful. It was a bit squished but I imagine they want as many tables as possible as it did get busy quickly. The food is a bit expensive for what it is, but we knew this before going in. It was, however, tasty and quick.

Dolci, piatti con uova, sandwiches o addirittura un grande assortimento con il vassoio a più piani dove a 25 sterline si possono gustare in 2 persone finger food, pasticcini e marmellatine. Concedetevi una pausa qui e non ve ne pentirete!
