Excellent restaurant with an extensive wine and food menu. The standard of cuisine was exceptional. All supported by a very friendly attentive team. Our best dining experience during the three nights we dined out in Bakewell. A must if you’re staying in the area. First class.

Staying in Bakewell and this intimate restaurant was recommended to us. The ambience was excellent, the food splendid, the staff considerate and attentive. Just added that extra wow factor to the very best of company. Thank you for your hospitality.

We booked over the phone, on arrival there was a warm friendly welcome in a relaxed atmosphere. The food was amazing and the service was fantastic, nothing to much trouble or rushed through our meal or to leave afterwards. 100% recommended and if I'm in the area again wouldn't hesitate to return.

Came here after valentine’s for a night in Bakewell and after searching online we settled on Piedaniel’s. Booking over the phone was easy, then if you’re staying in the area, it can be no more than a ten minute walk away. From the moment we entered the restaurant the service was impeccable, the atmosphere was friendly and warm, and you could tell the effort that was put in to the establishment. We had a couple of glasses of champagne, and I had a Rioja with my main which was very reasonable and tasty. Starters were the sweet potato soup and black pudding, both of which were delicious and made simple flavours come to life. The steak was as you would expect from such a restaurant but all the mains we saw also looked fantastic. We were asked if we’d like a break between finishing our mains and ordering dessert, things like this make such a difference to the dining experience! There was no rush to get us out as soon as we were done eating. We did have dessert, the white chocolate creme brulee for me and it was delicious. For the best meal we’ve had in a long time, with a couple of glasses of champagne and three courses each the price was very reasonable for the quality of food. If I’m ever staying in Bakewell again there will be no consideration needed and I will be booking here again.

We visited for Valentine's Day, as we were staying in Bakewell anyway and had read many favourable reviews. We had no idea what the menu would be but took it on trust. We were not disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious. Some of the best I've ever had. It was quite expensive but it was well worth it. I could wax lyrical about each of the five courses, but the main course was the highlight. The fillet steak was cooked perfectly and the pomme ana was absolutely delicious. Even the green beans were cooked perfectly. I highly recommend this restaurant. They clearly understand food. Thanks for a lovely evening.

Absolutely delightful . The food is excellent and the attention of the owner impeccable . If you can get in then I strongly suggest that you do so and very probably have the best dining experience in Bakewell . We visited on 3rd February 2024 .

We have eaten at this restaurant several times and the food is outstanding. The chef is very talented and the front of house staff are wonderful. Service is excellent with great attention to detail. I would highly recommend

Great place to eat. Take fantastic Derbyshire and British ingredients and combine them with a classically trained French chef. I believe, they use a butcher about 15 meters away from the restaurant who have their own great reputation. What better way to start than with champagne lovely and dry. We both had the black pudding starter , delicious. All the main courses looked lovely and tasted great. Good portion sizes and excellent side vegetables. Just had enough room to share some crepe Suzettes . Predominately local and seasonal menu Overall an excellent and enjoyable lunch, friendly relaxed service.

We visited in October for dinner with friends. Piedaniel's was excellent in every regard - welcoming, friendly and efficient staff who went out of their way to make our experience a good one. Food was first class. Good selection of wines too. This was an extremely enjoyable visit.

It is with regret that I am writing this review but I wish to be totally honest with our experience.We booked a birthday meal as a special celebration.Pied Daniel's was alway's the place we would go to for a special celebration meal.We went last night and we were extremely disappointed with our experience compared to previous visits. The usual warm and professional hospitality was lacking.The menu choice was very limited and the food was expensive,it lacked flavour and the portion's embarassingly small.We were astounded at the starter of vegetable crisps which were £3.60 for about five crisps.The vegetables we were given for our meal included two stem's of Brocolli,a few sprout's and two small potatoes cut into quarters for four people ! We were absolutely gobsmacked ! We had to request more vegetables which came toward's the end of the meal and again they were tasteless.After that we all stated that we didn't have the confidence to have a sweet.We had two very disappointing courses, a poor experience and sadly won't be returning or recommending .

From the moment we walked in we knew we were in for an amazing experience. We chose the restaurant to celebrate a birthday with family and everything was just wonderful. The menu was thoughtful and reasonably priced. All our starters and main courses were quite simply delicious. Christiana was a generous host, helped us to choose wine and very kindly arranged for a birthday candle at the end of our meal and a taxi to take us back to our hotel. When we are next in Bakewell we will be back. Thank you.

We have heard so many wonderful reports about this restaurant that it was top of our must visit list. Unfortunately we were disappointed. Although my husband had made 2 calls about his gluten intolerant and a friends latose intolerant. The staff did not appear to know anything about them. Poor !!! However, the staff were helpful and friendly and service was acceptable. The food was quite old fashioned. Fish covered in creamy sauces and not very warm. My husbands samphire had woody bits in it. It was all very average.

Excellent food and service here this evening. Can thoroughly recommend a visit. Good selection of dishes for each course.

Went for an anniversary meal our daughter rang the resturant earlier in rhe day as a surprise to us to say she would pay for the meal, the call it seems was taken by the kitchen staff wasent passed on to the waiting staff so didnt receive our surprise, very disappointed as there was only about 25 people in resturant so they wernt rushed off their feet, you wonder how these establishments continue, no communication between each other its just not good enough The meal wasent great, steak was chewy over priced for what we had wouldnt return

Managed to book a table at the last minute for PieDaniel's in Bakewell and was glad we were able to get in. Lovely setting with a great staff and excellent food we'll certainly look to eat here again

Went there with our 10 years old son. He initially was very grumpy as there was no “burger on the menu “. But lady who served us was so lovely, chatted with him…I think she knew what he wants before he knew himself. And we had lovely meal together. Staff were very professional and food was very tasty.

Food was flavour packed and beautifully presented and the restaurant was cosy and welcoming. The staff were attentive and happy and added to the warm atmosphere. Would 100% recommend.

The quality of our meal and of the service were so good - outstanding even - that we ate at Piedaniel's twice during our 3 day visit to the Peak District. 5 stars plus !

I cannot…and I repeat cannot praise this restaurant highly enough. We visited on 22nd October for a birthday meal and they didn’t put a foot wrong…the welcome, the service, the food and the atmosphere…absolutely superb. Many other restaurants could learn a lesson from Piedaniels and they would do well to look to them for advice. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening with the most convivial of hosts and the most superbly prepared food. This place stands head and shoulders above anywhere else in Bakewell and quite frankly, would hold its own anywhere in the UK. They are expert at what they do and deserve their reputation. As we left, a couple were considering the menu and we had no hesitation in recommending they go inside.Any review you read that suggests this place is no good doesn’t deserve your time or attention. Once in a while you come across a restaurant in an unfamiliar town that turns out to be a real gem and Piedaniel’s was certainly that. Host Christina is one of the loveliest people you’re ever likely to meet and is backed up by friendly, attentive front of house staff while her husband creates magical dishes fin the kitchen which will live long in the memory. Baked lobster soufflé, pan fried loin of pork and a crepe suzette for dessert - simply wonderful! If we’re ever in the area we’ll definitely make sure we visit Piedaniel’s again!

Had a meal here 2 weeks ago. We were absolutely delighted with everything. The service was top class and they were so polite. The food was some of the best we have had. Top marks to all.

We were so fortunate last night to get a table for 2. We were treated to an amazing experience, The service immpecalble, so friendly, the bread cooked with olives garlic was devine. I had pork my husband a perfectly cooked steak in a roquefort sauce, the pork served with apples and sultana stuffing accompanied with a peppercorn sauce both exquisite. Followed by a trio of desserts, coffee served with chocolates. A lovely bottle of French wine, no wonder its booked fully each night. Thank you for a wonderful night. Please try this georgous French restaurant when in Bakewell.

An interesting and varied menu, a nice ambience, food cooked superbly and nicely presented, good service and overall good value for the quality. What more could you want from a restaurant. It was fully booked mid-week which is always a good sign, and appeared to be popular with local residents.We would certainly visit again if in the area.

We arrived at 7pm, opening hour and were greeted by Christiana, the co-owner, who proved to be very good at her job. Very attentive to Esther's dietary needs and a charming person. We dined lightly with a shared scallop starter followed by a superb whole Cornish sole each and veggies, closing with a rhubarb pudding. The Scallops on a pancake were good -the dish didnt need the added tomato as the light dressing was fine. The grilled sole were excellent, one with caper sauce , one without. could have done with a little more green veg but a great dish. the rhubarb pudding and custard was delicious. Service was good and the room was well spaced. I thought the meal was of a very good quality at a very fair price. we would go again and certainly would recommend it. Prices are not cheap but the quality is good.

Our third visit to this delightful resturant. The menu is varied and they try hard to please if you have any requests. We hope to be able to visit again in the near future. Great staff too.

I would visit this restaurant every day if I lived in the area it was that good.Every course was cooked to perfection, tasted fantastic and was served by friendly efficient staff.Added to the great food was a super selection of gins which must be tried!

This was our third visit to Piedaniels, and it just gets better every time. The food is sublime - I had the lobster soufflé, rack of lamb and trio of desserts and honesty could not fault anything at all. With outstanding food and faultless friendly service, we cannot wait for our next visit.

We discovered Piedaniel's a couple of years ago whilst on holiday in Bakewell, and this was a return visit on a similar holiday this year.The food is still fantastic and excellent value for money, with a nice varied menu and obviously well-sourced fresh ingredients.However, one thing that disappointed us was the lack of mask wearing by the staff. This is surely the courteous thing to do in the current coronavirus environment, where staff are leaning over tables and customers, not least of which it protects the staff. The entry here on Trip Advisor does actually state that we can expect: "Face masks required for staff in public areas". It's frustrating, because the restaurant itself is first class.

We visited a year ago, with social distancing in place and had an excellent experience. So much so that I wrote a 5 Star review back then. We loved it so much that we saved it up until the end of our break at Litton Mill, for a repeat of that positive experience. Well, we have never been so disappointed in our lives! It put a black mark on our holiday. It was simply bad in almost every way. Firstly, we were seated at a table in the middle, right in the thoroughfare between the kitchen and the punters, so we were disturbed every time a server went passed, almost rubbing against us they were that close. That table had no right to be there at all; it created a hostile environment. And because we were in the centre of everyone in the restaurant, we could barely hear each other talk. The idea of a romantic evening went out the window. There was a sign on the window looking for staff, so clearly they were struggling.Our waitress was clearly not a professional; I suggested to my partner that she was possibly a family member helping out. But none of the usual pleasantries: how was your meal, etc. Not even enquiring as to whether everything was ok. None of that. We like the little square of garlic bread. It's usually a nice amuse bouche. But mine was far too salty. My partner's was ok. We ordered the starters and mains at the same time. The starters arrived after 40 minutes. The starters were nice. I tried something unusual. No problems here. After the starters were cleared away, ten minutes elapsed and then our "waitress" approached me and suggested that the fish cakes, which we had both ordered, had run out. Only one of us could have this main. Presumptuously, she passed the menu to me to reselect, but my partner decided that she would reselect instead. She changed her order to the Monk Fish. The options were limited, particularly as my partner does not eat red meat. When the mains finally arrived, my partner was becoming exasperated. The Monk Fish was a very small portion and tasteless. It was also massively over-priced. She says it was a blessing that there was so little of it as it was so tasteless. We have cooked this fish with more flavour ourselves. We expect more from a fine dining experience. My fish cake was ok, but I have eaten far better from a chain restaurant, with better cuts of fish. The amount of fish was sadly lacking. We decided to skip dessert at this point and made a swift exit. Usually I tip really well, but the experience was so jarring and such a disappointment that I did not tip on this occasion. £66 for two courses would have been ok had the experience not left such a feeling of abject misery. Nobody was interested as to whether we had had a nice meal, they just seemed keen to ship us in and out. This experience has definitely left a sour taste in our mouths. We will not be returning. After we heartily recommended the restaurant last year as the best restaurant in Derbyshire, we have to now turn this positive in to a negative. Possibly the worst experience of dining this year.

Wow! What a place. Read the reviews and booked this restaurant months in advance, outstanding food, service and very reasonable priced. Absolutely recommend and will definitely return! Only managed to take pics of the starters, but it was all fantastic!

June 15th 1996 England play Scotland in the Euros, it was that game where Paul Gascoigne ran towards Scotland’s defender Colin Hendry; as the ball dropped over Gascoigne’s shoulder, without breaking stride, he offered a deft touch of his left foot and looped the ball over the defenders head.Before the ball and defender had hit the ground Gascoigne had turned and in one glorious move, volleyed the ball low to the right of the Scottish keeper. I turned to my friend and said, ‘I will never be impressed by anything, ever again, that’s the pinnacle’.On the 25th August 2021 we entered Piedaniel's restaurant, and an hour later, revised my judgement on never being impressed again.

We enjoyed a fantastic meal here last night. The food was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. There was also an excellent wine and gin menu! The service was perfect and the restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere. It is also very reasonably priced for the exceptional quality of the dishes and also the generous portion sizes. We will definitely return next time we are in Bakewell and will be recommending Piedaniel’s to all of our friends!

Overnight stay in Bakewell to celebrate birthday. Found this restaurant on TripAdvisor and booked a while ago. We were not disappointed - absolutely lovely meal, wine and excellent service! It really is a hidden gem and we would definitely return if we were ever in the area again. Highly recommend

Our first time here after a recommendation from friends. Why has it taken us so long? Really accomplished cooking of fresh ingredients Between us we enjoyed Lobster soufflé, black pudding and potato salad, sole on the bone, crepes suzette. Wine list was great especially Chateau Bouscasse Vendemiare which is so hard to find in England. We will be back

Had a wonderful memorable meal here this evening....needed a lye down when we had finished,very freindly attentive staff,under the current climate we felt very safe with a nice space in between tables,the food was stunning especially the crepe suzette,we are here from yorkshire but if we ever in derbyshire again then we will definitely be back.

One of the best meals I’ve had in years. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit if you considering it. All four of us were blown away by all three courses. This is the kind of food you think about fondly years later. Portions aren’t huge but as everything is so flavoursome, I found them the perfect size. Treat yourself to three courses if you dine here, you will not regret it!!

Four of us went for lunch at midday on a Saturday and all enjoyed our meals. I had the crab souffle which was great (but needed a spoon to eat the tasty leek sauce) followed by the cod with rarebit which was ok. All of us then had the trio of sweets which were delicious however they were served on a fake slate which had all the irritating properties of slate ie your cutlery grates on it in so it's like nails down a blackboard. My husband and I tipped ours of onto the plate so we could eat them in peace. Great service.

Four of us had dinner at this lovely little restaurant in Bakewell. The food was outstanding, we all had something different and every single plate was beautifully presented, cooked and tasted amazing. We absolutely loved it. Light airy comfortable restaurant, the service was excellent, everyone friendly - if you’re staying in Bakewell do eat here it’s really worth it. Loved it.

We can see why this is rated as no.1 restaurant in Bakewell. The menu was excellent and the food delicious. The service was first class with the staff being very friendly.The decor was light and airey and the atmosphere very relaxed.When next in Bakewell we'll make a point of revisiting this wonderful restaurant.

Thoroughly enjoyed dinner here - delicious food and really friendly and good service. Portions generous too. Well worth the drive from Buxton. Tables well spaced and staff wore their masks properly, so felt very safe too.

We were a group of old friends with four imbibers and one designated driver (many thanks to my wife) and made the short trip from Buxton to Bakewell for a nosy around and a last day lunch. Piedaniel's Restaurant is just off the main part of the town and is nicely situated and easy to find. The decor of the restaurant is very cool and welcoming and the staff were very warm and welcoming and here I must add a special mention to the two ladies that were waiting at table, both of them were friendly, amusing, helpful and attentive and they really made our visit that extra bit special. So, on to the food... ah the food. It was brilliant. No-one had anything but a hugely positive experience. I had the crab souffle to start which came with an intense leek sauce. I did wonder about the pairing of leeks and crab but I needn't have worried, it was sublime and just the right portion size. I had a simple steak frites as a main course and I often think that a good measure of a restaurant is how well they do such a simple dish. Here at Piedaniel's the answer is they do it very well. A beautiful piece of sirloin, cooked to a perfect medium rare (for me) and rare (for my friend) with crispy, floury tase chips, served with a very good peppercorn sauce on the side. Simple perfection. The wine list is not particularly cheap but is fairly extensive and there should be something for everyone. As it was our last day we pushed the boat out a bit and had the Poulli Fume and the Graves. Both were very good and I was very pleased to be chauffeured home. If you get the chance to visit Piedaniel's please do it, you will not be disappointed.

We were lucky and managed to get a table at Piedaniel’s with only a weeks notice on a Saturday evening as they had a cancellation! The food was excelled - literally one of the nicest and tastiest meals I’ve had - and the food was really well presented. They have a good selection on the menu and cater to suit most people including vegetarians. Overall great atmosphere, great food and an excellent evening. Would definitely recommend and come back again.

This was our first visit out for a meal since last September and we were not disappointed.As you enter this cosy welcoming restaurant you feel instantly impressed. We were welcome by a lady, who we think is the owner. Although she was wearing the obligatory mask, you could feel her smile and her warm welcome. The menu is varied with lots of choice. We wanted a light lunch so it was crab soufflé, mussels and we both had the cod. All the dishes were immaculately presented and the food was both hot and tasty. The vegetable side was also a nice surprise. We didn't take a desserts but we saw lots come out and they looked impressive. The staff were all friendly and professional and the service was nicely timed not rushed but also no long waits.As for Covid we had complete confidence. The tables are fairly well spaced and the staff continually use hand gel all wear a mask. Our first visit but will defiantly not be our last.

I was treated to a surprise birthday meal at Piedaniel's on Friday, June 11th.We had a table for 5 and every member of the party, without fail, felt that we received first class service and had an unforgettable meal.All of the food we tried was fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection and all of the staff were friendly and a credit to the restaurant.A great visit

Visited here today. Two couples. The staff were the most friendly attentive team. Great wine menu and food choices were excellent. Not a huge menu but I like that so the choices are easier. Had the duck in port & cherry sauce. Trio of puddings for desert. You must try this place.

We were lucky enough to get in on a Saturday night due to a cancellation, as there had been a mix-up with our other dinner reservation. I will be forever grateful for that as we had the best meal we've ever eaten! There is a great selection on the menu at very reasonable prices. Every dish was an ideal portion size, incredibly well flavoured and cooked to perfection. We had the crab souffle and moules marinieres to start followed by the duck with cherry and port, then finished off with a crepes suzette and a trio of desserts. We couldn't fault a thing - we left feeling satisfied but not stuffed, we weren't rushed in any way so it was a very relaxing evening, and the whole thing was definitely value for money. I'm looking forward to planning another trip to Bakewell so we can come back to Piedaniel's!

12 years ago my husband and I enjoyed one of our best ever meals here. We were so looking forward to returning here with our 2 boys. Perhaps it was the fact we brought 2 nearly teen boys with us, but we didn't get the warmest welcome. My husband was sat so close to the table next to us we almost left immediately. They seemed to have the same number of tables as they may have pre covid. When my food was brought/plates cleared we had to pass them accross as there wasn't enough space for the waitress to walk between the tables. Not only did this not feel covid safe, but it's not the level of service we received here previously.My husband had pork and my son duck which was delicious. However our other son had over cooked sea bream which was crispy at the edges and turned slightly rubbery in places. Being a vegetarian I had only one choice. When I asked if they had any alternatives I was told I could have 2 starters and they'd just take the salmon off the starter to make it vegetarian for me. As their website says vegetarian and vegan friendly I assumed they catered a little better than this.

We visited Piedaniels whilst staying in Bakewell. Had a lovely meal there-delicious Leek and Potato soup followed by Beetroot and Onion Tarte tatin. The food is fine dining but the atmosphere is friendly and informal- a. Perfect combination. Would definitely recommend.

When arriving at Piedaniel’s restaurant, I had no idea how fantastic the place was. We were greeted with a lovely, warm welcome. In the current climate, the extra effort to make people feel welcome is necessary as masks can often stop normal interaction. I had the sirloin steak which was sublime. My partner had the sea bream, which was, “cooked to perfection.” For dessert, we shared the Bailey’s Crème Brûlée. Again, it was perfect. For everything that we had, the bill was incredibly reasonable. My partner and I agreed that it was the favourite meal we had ever enjoyed. Thank you, Piedaniel’s! We can’t wait to come back.

We stayed in Bakewell just one night and were expecting the famous tart to be our taste highlight but we were mistaken. The tart was delicious but the food we had at Piedaniel's was exceptional. For such an unassuming little place, the quality was fantastic. And the value incredible. The service was attentive but the atmosphere felt very relaxed. The family feel of the place comes through in the waiting staff and the pride taken in the presentation and the balance of flavours is a credit to the kitchen. If you're looking for a very special meal for a very reasonable price, Piedaniel's is a must.

I booked a meal at piedaniels for my wedding anniversary meal on a Thursday nite ,I had the prawn souffle to start which was superb ,just melted in the mouth ,then had a steak in red wine sauce which also was excellent.The service was friendly and attentive, we even got some complimetary home made foccacio, which was so moist and tasty ,I will definitely book again when I'm down that neck of the woods

Gorgeous food, lovely atmosphere.Delicious meal. In laws have been coming here for years and always rave about it so was lovely to try it when we were in Bakewell. Incredible food and really accommodating of dairy allergy & gluten intolerance which is not necessarily easy to do with French food! Everyone enjoyed their meals. The fish was perfectly cooked. The sorbet (not on the menu but handmade) was delicious! Definitely try it if you fancy a pudding but nothing heavy.

This was our first venture out for a restaurant experience since Covid started, everything at this establishment seemed Covid safe.Tables were well spaced, all staff wore visors or face masks.Their menu is varied, we both chose Sea Bass for our main meal which was lovely, nicely cooked.There’s is a lovely choice of desserts, I chose the trio of desserts, all of which were very yummy.A lovely lunch experience, well recommended, worth booking in advance.We will be returning again very soon!!

We can't say enough, The staff, covid precautions, food, ambience was all excellent. For a special night out this is First class dining with reasonable prices.

We had a family lunch for 4 which was an amazing experience. A varied menu of well presented and delicious food. Friendly service in pleasant surroundings. Highly recommended and we will be back.

Myself and my husband have visited the restaurant several times and can’t recommend highly enough. The Owner is so friendly and welcoming and the service is fabulous. The food is stunning and presented beautifully. A very special place!

It is not that easy to find a good family run restaurant these days. However, Piedaniels seemed to be what we were looking for so in a fit of post lockdown euphoria we decided to make the 50 minute journey there for lunch.We were not disappointed. The Covid precautions were sensible. The staff were helpful and friendly and it appeared that a number of the diners were known to them which is always a good sign.I am afraid I was rathe boring choosing the soup and then steak. My Wife's soufflé and cod dish choices sounded somewhat more adventurous, but all the dishes were delicious. I have no idea what the desserts were like because neither of us could eat one! It was also nice to find that they were serving really good coffee.Well worththe journey

The atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and friendly.The staff were attentive but not intrusive, the food was fantastic. We visited PieDaniel's last week while staying in Birchover as it was only a short drive and the menu looked good. "Good" was an understatement. From a “current standards” point of view, the whole evening was excellent. Social distancing, face coverings and minimal contact from staff on plates, glasses etc. was spot on.More importantly the food was to die for! Absolutely sublime. Couldn’t fault anything. Coupled with the fact that the staff were amazing…friendly, polite and cheerful – it really was the best evening we have had in a very long time. We tried to book again for later in our stay but quite rightly they were fully booked. Will definitely be coming back to Derbyshire so we can eat here again.

Our first night in Bakewell and was not disappointed. Husband threw himself into having a full 3 courses but I resisted and enjoyed my main meal more for doing so. Attentive waiting staff and a nice ambiance and good wine.

Ate there yesterday (which was actually my birthday). Could have been a disaster as they had lost our booking, but they calmly and professionally sorted that out. The restaurant has a relaxed, delightful atmosphere, and the service was very friendly and efficient. The food was outstanding, and really reasonably priced. Importantly for me, they had good gluten-free optionsWe have been on holiday in The Peak & Lake Districts for the last 10 days, and this was by far our nicest dinner experience.

We arrived at Piedaniel's having booked the week before as my partner and I were visiting nearby.The setting was lovely. A very small number of covers ( less than 30) and a lovely atmosphere. The starters were terrific in all aspects, as were both our main courses. We thought they were very reasonably priced for the quality and quantity you got. The focaccia at the start of the evening was absolutely beautiful. None of the food needed further seasoning. The wine and gin lists are extensive, and whilst I had a Gin, my other half had a red wine which he really enjoyed. Finally, we ordered dessert. My partner had the trio if desserts as he couldn't decide. I had the creme brûlée which was amazing. All in all, a fabulous evening out which set the bar high for everywhere we ate thereafter. Thus is he a regular visit whenever we are in the area. Thank you to all staff for making this a magical evening.

The restaurant was set out nicely, with good spacing between tables. The lighting was just right. The mood as captivating as my date. The food was truly sublime. Even the focaccia bread, marinated in a light olive oil was delightful. Our starters were mouthwatering; our mains tantalising; our desserts to die for. We will be returning and recommending to one and all. The staff took such joy in their work, as it was clear that the chef valued their participation in making this a friendly, warm and welcoming venue. Top food, top service and a measure of joy. A recipe for success in any corner of the world. Hidden away in Bath Street in Bakewell - hunt it out - miss this at your peril!

First impression was excellent, the staff very Virus aware making you feel safe. Beautiful decor, and atmosphere.The food was fantastic, I had the black pudding starter followed by the best lamb I have ever had, then crepe suzette, amazing. Perfect for a special occasion, not to be missed it you are staying in Bakewell.

I can’t recommend Piedaniels highly enough. I’m visiting Bakewell with family as a Uk holiday, and while we’re in self catering accommodation, we were determined not to have to cook (we’re on holiday!) so have booked up a few restaurants while here. Well, the other 2 have a hard act to follow after our first night!! The food, ambiance, service, staff...all of them we’re absolutely excellent. We went the full 3 courses and were very pleased we did - the lamb main was to die for (possibly best lamb dish I’ve ever had?) and the desserts were all incredible - the three of us had crepe suzette, the panna cotta and the trio of mini desserts. Amazing!!!Lovely welcoming staff and fab service as stated. If you’re in Bakewell you should try and go - no it isn’t a budget option, nor should it be - but for what you get in terms of quality all around it is worth every penny. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Lovely restaurant, very quiet. Starter was beautiful and presented lovely. Main meals of sirloin steak not as nice. Very thin piece of steak which was nearly all fat and grisly. Staff friendly. Wouldn’t visit again.

Booked 1 week before and managed to get in for 8pm on a Saturday evening. Covid-19 safety measures are excellent, all staff wearing full protective masks and marks on the floor, had to get there on time as there was no waiting area at the bar but this does not deter - better safe than sorry. The starters were excellent and we all had something different but all agreed they were lovely. Main courses were lovely and cooked perfectly, 3 of us had fish and 1 had the steak. Wine was lovely and chilled properly. The staff were all lovely and very attentive. Visit if you are in Bakewell but book ahead.

Piedaniels is simply one of the best restaurants I have been to in ages. The ambience is lovely, and tables are well-spaced for social distancing. Service is also brilliant and you could see staff constantly sanitizing which is reassuring. The food- it was incredible! To start we had the salmon ceviche and crab souffle. The souffle was beautiful but oh my god the ceviche was another level. Absolutely special. For mains my boyfriend has the beef fillet which he said was amazing and I had the cod fillet. The saffron sauce was so yummy and the mussels were a great addition! We were absolutely stuffed but managed to share a dessert, the elderflower panacotta. Again, this was beautiful. The whole experience was fantastic and a great way to spend our last night in Bakewell. 100% recommend this to anyone wanting to have some amazing food for very reasonable prices!

We had a fabulous evening in this top class restaurant. Service was excellent, carafes of house wine perfectly chilled and the food excellent. The owners have done everything they can to keep you safe and the use of the eat out to help out scheme an extra bonus. It was lovely to watch the owner catch up with her regulars who obviously rightly value their local restaurant. Every course was delicious - the waitresses recommendation that everyone seems to like the lamb and cod went down a treat with my family and the trio of sweets was perfect to end a perfect meal - faultless!

Sometimes, just sometimes, you fall by accident onto a hidden gem. Wow! Everything, everything was perfect. The staff, ambience, food and dare I say it, the price. If this was in a city centre location you'd be payed ng top notch prices. Wonderful evening.

My husband and I have eaten at Piedaniels numerous times in the past and were delighted that they were reopening at the beginning of August. We immediately booked and as always had a fantastic meal and evening. The owners and staff are very friendly and professional and the food is always of the finest quality.

My son and I enjoyed a wonderful evening at Piedaniel's Restaurant. Such a gem. The food was delicious, the salmon ceviche and Derbyshire beef fillet were amazing. Very welcoming, polite staff. We ended having a lovely chat with Christiana. I would recommend eating here, as you will not be disappointed!

Great credit must go to the proprietors for reopening after what must have been a very difficult time for them but they clearly have a very loyal clientele & were able to function with only the odd table not used. I have to say that after reading the largely excellent reviews & the credentials of the chef I expected more, though perhaps I chose the wrong dishes. My starter was a huge dish featuring an entire slab of black pudding plus bacon, egg etc., in my view far to much for a starter & more a hearty breakfast than a subtle infusion of flavours. That took my appetite away for the main course which was garlic stuffed chicken over a risotto. It was also a very heavy dish & the risotto tasted more like mashed potatoes, sorry to say. I couldn’t finish it. On the plus side I liked the look of the wine list supplied from an independent in Sheffield & enjoyed my merlot. The service was friendly. particularly the co-proprietor, though one waitress who may have been new, was standing around most of the time not knowing what to do. I also thought the prices were entirely reasonable. Unlike some critical comments the portions were in no way small, quite the reverse. This seems to be about the only “non pub” restaurant in Bakewell but on this showing seems to have morphed into the same type of establishment, maybe because that is what their clients desire.

My partner and I have been coming here for 4 years now and last night was our first visit since reopening. We came with 2 friends and everything was, as always, top notch; fantastic food, great service and classy surroundings. The four of us agreed that it's still our favourite restaurant in the area. My all time preferred starter of black pudding, bacon and poached egg was on the menu and a special mention goes to the crėpes suzette. The whole experience was merveilleuse.

Everything we had here was terrific - universally delicious, beautifully presented and served with a friendly smile. We had the black pudding, mozzarella, and goat’s cheese starters, with sea bass, chicken on spring onion risotto, and crepes suzette flambé. Each and every dish was a fresh delight. Very fair tariff too. Highly recommended!

We spent a few days in the Peak District and visited Pie Daniels for dinner one evening. The food was delicious. We had goats cheese and crab soufflé to start and the lamb and beef main courses. All the good was excellent including the olive and sundries tomato bread they served before the starters. Staff were very friendly and had good measures in place for hygiene and social distancing. Highly recommend visiting when in Bakewell.

Tried this out for our anniversary meal, and were not disappointed. A lovely meal in classy surroundings and with good service. I had the flavoursome chicken followed by the crepe suzette. All very good. It was a pleasure to eat in such a calm and efficient ambience. The very young waitresses were great but perhaps could have smiled a bit more! Pity it’s so far away from home otherwise we could be regulars here.

We booked a few days in the Peak District post lockdown and booked Piedaniels based on tripadvisor reviews. How glad we are, that we did! It was only their second evening being open since lockdown, yet the organisation and consideration for both staff and customers was clear. The staff were welcoming and service was excellent throughout our meal. We had three courses, both choosing to have the twice baked crab soufflé to start, which was absolutely delicious. For our main courses, my partner had the cod fillet with mussels and I had the sea bass with crushed new potatoes. The mains came served with a selection of vegetables and again everything was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. For dessert, my partner had the iced lemon curd meringue gateau. He loves lemon desserts and this didn’t disappoint. I had the elderflower panna cotta, which was the perfect end to the meal. Then to make an excellent meal even better, we found that they were participating in the Eat out to Help Out scheme, which gave us a £20 discount! We will definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family visiting Bakewell and hope to return again at some point in the future.
