Pier 36 in Ards

Stopped by without a booking and were lucky enough to get a table. Quirky bar/restaurant with homely feel. Food was beautifully presented and good value.

Went for lunch at the weekend, Staff are really friendly and helpful, Food was wonderful, We had the Pensioners meals which are sufficient in size. The bread and butter pudding is to die for. Would recommend a visit if your in the town You won't be disappointed We will be back for sure

Food is as painfully average as it was on my first visit a few years ago. Great service is a bonus, but wouldn't be enough to tempt me back.

I contacted this woeful company to supply food for 100 people for my father’s FUNERAL!! For £1600 they supplied enough food for about 40 people. It was an absolute disgrace and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. Avoid this bunch of amateurs, they have no business being in the catering business!!

My husband took me here because it was my birthday and he knows I love the sizzling beef. He ordered the bang bang chicken and I got the sizzling beef.when they brought my meal out all you could smell was a burnt smell.There was no sauce on it , it was literally burnt on to the dish.It tasted horrible.When I called the girl over and told her it was burnt she agreed and took it away.They brought me another meal out and although it wasn’t burnt it tasted nothing like it usually tasted. My husband had to eat his meal with me just sitting there , then when I got mine , he had finished his.Not the best birthday dinner I have had.extremely over price for the quality of food and small ..Don’t think I’ll be rushing back.

Beautiful room great view good craic in the bar

Stayed one night with breakfast included. Had a seaview room. It was so warm and cosy.Beds were comfortable and room facilities good. Breakfast next morning was lovely. The girl who served us was very pleasant and helpful. She even got me a small box to take the rest of my delicious granola home that couldn't finish. Great hearty breakfast. Will definitely be back 😊

OK so you seen it on TV. There is a warm welcome here that is real. The food is good and the pints excellent. Back in time to a real fire and welcoming surrounding. Walk the seafront first. Then have a hot meal.

I live in Canada now but this is still my favourite restaurant. The food here is amazing and creative, I cannot recommend Pier 36 highly enough. They arranged a dinner for my family while I am still in Canada and arranged flowers for my mother to be at the table. Thank you.

We had a meal here the other night it was our 1st time here and it definitely won't be our last. We all really enjoyed our meals, the food was really tasty and a great service. Even better its dog friendly in the bar area so our 2 small dogs came with us and enjoyed themselves too.

Cosy oldie world pub, extends right through to a great beer garden /courtyard area. That's where it ends I.m sorry to say. Food was awful. I had the seafood mornay which was tasteless. My husband had steak pie & ( hard chips ).also tasteless. Lovely to go for a cosy drink but eat at your own risk. Wouldn't eat here again.

Had a lovely lunch with my partner, was lovely and warm. Loved that locals could come in and have a pint with their dog!! Staff told us all about the filming of Hope Street, they are almost a part of the cast, they so enthusiastic, lol.

Here for my daughters birthday. 5 of us and old dog in his buggy. We sat in the bar which was homely with a lovely open fire. Staff were friendly and polite. Food was great, plenty of it. Definity will go back. Recommend it.

Popped in with family, had seafood chowder, excellent. Fresh, tasty and lots of fish. Seen loads of plates coming out and all looked amazing. Small confusion re drinks and had to get them ourselves, not a big hassle, the outside looks a little run down, but inside is really nice, highly recommend if your in the area and trying to decide where to eat, look no further!

Great food and very friendly attentive staff. Although busy the food came out promptly and was excellent. Not been for a few years, will definitely be back again.

The chowder is great, although today we only got 1 slice of wheaten instead of the usual two - not a big deal but thought it was worth mentioning. Service was a bit slow today and the place wasn't all that busy so not sure what happened there but the staff are very friendly. My main was the haddock, which I wasn't a massive fan off, the batter tasted a bit overdone which could be due to the oil it was cooked in. It was good, but just not for me. The chips I got were also not amazing and felt like they were perhaps sitting under a heat lamp for longer than needed (again could be down to the slow service). Dessert was the chocolate brownie, and this was very good. Service is usually on point, so tonight was obviously just a one off. Overall very good, and will be back.

Dog friendly, but check your bill. We had our quantity of meals doubled! Sorted it out prior to paying but should never have happened.

We had a wonderful night at Peir36. We were let down at short notice and Pier36 were extremely helpful and accommodating. On the night the food was first class. Served warm and efficiently for a party of 20. Staff were very helpful and friendly and we had a wonderful family evening. We have been there for Mothers Day from 2012 and have always had a brilliant experience. Well done to the Peir36 team. Adrian

Fabulous place. Warm welcome, excellent service and exceptional food! We lodged and dined for 4 nights. Recommend you stop for a bite to eat if you're passing through the area or stay over if you can.

Great food and super attentive staff. We were a party of 16 and everything flowed smoothly. We were lucky to be put in the private room which was very spacious.

Fantastic views from the bedroom window as the dawn broke out along the coast , room was clean and bed was confortable , great breakfast included in the room rate was brilliant value. Really enjoyed the night in the bar , open fire with the beautiful scent of logs , nice friendly crowd , couldnt fault the serving staff friendly, welcoming and helpful , saw it was dog friendly inside so will be back with the other 4legged members of the family. Great place really enjoyed my stay.

Went for dinner on a stormy night last week. We were staying in the area for a dog show and the pub was dog friendly. We were welcomed in and everyone loved the dogs. Dinner was beautiful as was the sticky toffee puddling. All good

I stayed here for 2 nights on a “Dinner, Bed and Breakfast” basis and was very impressed with the accommodation, the food, and especially the very friendly and helpful staff - nothing was any bother for them! I look forward to my next visit!

Great Ceasar salad. Pleasant delivery person. Highly recommended and I will certainly eat from there again. (ordered Ceasar salad twice as it was so good) Have not been inside the restaurant yet.. I ordered a takeaway twice, very pleasant and cheerful delivery man.

A great night's entertainment and atmosphere with the Vintage Garage Band doing a charity gig in conjunction with Donaghadee Community Festival. I've been numerous times before, & the food has been very good, however, this time the scampi was overdone, & the chilli was just OK. 4 stars not for the food, but for the atmosphere & the craic on the night!

Lovely atmosphere, great service and very tasty food. My 11 year old daughter and I went for dinner when we were in town for a few days. She ate from the children's menu which had lots of choice at a reasonable price and I had the bang bang chicken with satay sauce. Highly recommend it if you're in town.

Kids meals shocking value, had to order extra food for them as they where still hungry. Even the quality was poor. Wine very over priced too, on a good note tho service was good, and the roast dinner was very good

We had a delivery on saturday 8/5/21, and I have to say that the food was absolutely beautiful. The onion rings were amazing! I have ordered from here a few times, and the food has always been good. There was a slight problem with my order, but when I called them, they rectified it immediately. Their customer service is top notch. Really easy to deal with.The delivery drivers were polite and smiling which is always good sign.The only reason i gave 4 years instead of 5, is because I think the delivery charge is pricey.I'm only 2.4 miles from them, but pay £6 delivery. They also charge £6 to deliver to Bangor which is 6 miles away. Apart from this, I'll continue to order from here.Recommended.

Got a take away form here this evening and I’m sorry to say I was disappointed especially after reading such great reviews..food was at best average, husband didn’t like the seafood chowder and my pizza was burnt, also go the chips and dips and chips undercooked.

Visited today and as usual food was great. Staff good. My granddaughters really enjoyed. Have never been dissapointed as we had my sons 4oth in October and everybody really enjoyed

This is my grandparents favourite local spot for dinner and they've been really enjoying the takeaway service throughout lockdown. I had decided some vouchers would be a good idea for Christmas but on the website, it started the vouchers would need to be collected from the restaurant - as I'm living away this was a problem. After emailing and getting a quick and friendly response from Sarah, they said they could post the vouchers for me. Just amazing customer service all round and I'm really grateful for their kindness and going the extra mile. They had them posted within 24 hours! My grandparents will be delighted. Thank you :)

Living in Bangor just hoped the delivery would be alright, shouldn’t have worried, meal arrived on time exactly as ordered and hot. WELL DONE PIER 36 As good as eating in the resturant. Will definitely use again.

We had a good lunch here - I had mussels and my wife had fish and chips. Food was good and service was fine although a little patchy, but given it is quite a cavernous place, that was somewhat understandable. Would come again.

Great spot, very cosy inside. Staff very friendly and attentive, the menu is amazing and has ALOT to choose from. Food was beautiful and reasonably priced.. will definitely be back.

We stayed here on 3rd October 2020, beautiful view from bedroom window of sea ,total relaxation. Staff were very courteous and friendly. Everywhere spotless. Food was delicious. I would highly recommend this accommodation perfect in every way

We called in for dinner ask if we had booked but no we hadn’t lots of empty tables so wasn’t a problem. I ordered lasagne big mistake tasted like a ready meal they had bought in. To be fair they took the price if menu so felt obliged to have dessert another mistake. Sticky toffee pudding absolutely drenched in cinnamon needs renamed to cinnamon pudding. My husbands chicken stack was tasteless if it hadn’t of been for pepper sauce. Some staff wearing masks some not .. no it’s not compulsory but if you’re staff can’t achieve 2metres between each other then please supply them masks. Oh and no one bothered to take our name or contact details. Leaves me worried we won’t be back.

3 of us were out for lunch yesterday 2 had the lamb roast and 1 the chicken stack.The food was very tasty and beautifully cooked. It was served very promptly and staff were cheerful and attentive without overdoing the attention.The menu had a good variety of choice and an good list of main meals for £10.

on Saturday night past We were sat at table 1. I just want to express my thanks to all of your staff who treated us with politeness and class during these trying times. We were served quickly and our meal was outstanding probably one of the best steaks i have ever eaten and i eat a lot of steaks. We will definitely be back again

Stopped by Pier36 for an impromptu lunch today. We asked for a gluten free menu. We don’t have one but anything on the menu can be adapted. We selected the same meal - scampi and chips - one gluten free one not. What can I say - both were on point! Fresh scampi, not fishy or watery, fresh with crisp batter. Really hit the spot. All the staff were wearing masks and tables were well spaced too. Looking forward to a return visit.

Unable to have a drink in the bar we sheltered in one of the snugs in the beer garden which has a Mediterranean, Spanish style feel to it. The bar staff were pleasant and friendly and there are many vegan friendly drinks such as Guinness and 'Maggie's Leap Formidable IPA' from Whitewater Brewery.

While my husband was happy enough with his Bang Bang Chicken and crumble, my pasta was very poor.A packet of chicken bits thrown into pasta and sauce. Because it was also called bacon and broccoli pasta, one strip of bacon and two saggy broccoli spears added so that description of dish was met. It was like something a Year 8 pupil would make in Home Economics.

Ate here in August on the Eat out to help out offer. Food was really good and staff friendly. We would go back.

We visited here for lunch and the place was steady but not packed so I assumed we would receive decent enough service. Having wanted to try this place for years I was really looking forward to it. We arrived and were taken to our tables and the drinks order taken straight away but we then waited another 20 minutes for our food order to be taken and 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Considering there were only 2 off us and we ordered 2 basic main courses I thought this was a bit excessive. I would have asked the staff were our food was but I couldn't get their attention as they all appeared to prefer to talk amongst themselves about how hungover they were. I don't mind waiting if they food when it comes is tasty enough but it was all just a little bit bland and lacking flavour.

Very happy with how we were looked after and treated during our regular visits to the pier 36 bar and restaurant during our stay in Donaghadee staff were very professional and delightful to interact with

My wife and I were in on Tuesday night at 6 and the place was already packed.. and I mean PACKED!! We ordered and our food arrived about 25 or 30 mins later, but to be fair, they were very busy. The food wasn’t up to the usual standard, but understandable given the current circumstances. What has annoyed me more is all this subsequent hoha about Covid and how they’ve handled it “perfectly.” They haven’t! They say in their statement staff wear visors and masks?? I didn’t see ANY evidence of that when I was there! I was 2 foot away from the nearest other customer too!! And why did they stay open when staff were awaiting their Covid test results? What if they’d ALL been positive? Totally irresponsible attitude in my view and I most certainly will never be back. Not worth the risk!!!

Had dinner here on Friday night, the service was EXCELLENT Starters were fantastic, would recommend bree and a bread boardMain course we had a sharing steak which absolutely delicious I can't remember the last time I was so impressed with a restaurant, hope to be back again very soon!

What happened to Pier 36? Went there with my family. 5 of us in total.Table booked for 4.45 to try and avoid the tea time rush. Told when booking that we would only have the table for an hour. No problem. Should insure good service. WRONG!!! Order placed after 20 minutes of waiting. Nothing to hard. Chicken stack, fish and chips and 3 kids meals. Drinks arrived in good time, although one was missing. Food on the other hand. 40 minutes later the food arrived. After asking the waitres, who seemed more interested in talking to her friends at the next table, to chase our food. It was not worth the wait. Kids meals looked like they had been cooking for the whole time we were waiting. The chips on my plate were cold. The chicken in the stack was so over cooked it was nearly inedible. We had what we could as it was to late to go anywhere else. We asked for the bill as we couldnt wait another half hour for desserts. Once again the waitres was to busy talking to her friends to bring the card machine. We had to go to the till on the way out to sort the bill. It was busy so you do have to give some slack but two of the other tables in the area we were sat in also had problems with service and waiting a long time on food. It will be a long time before we are back here.

I have eaten in some of the best restaurants in the world but I have to say, tonight I have been served the best fillet Steak I’ve ever tasted, and the attentiveness of the staff was phenomenal, I will most definitely be back and I highly recommend this restaurant ticks everyone box, thank you.

We were at Pier 36 yesterday Service was very good I ordered the chowder which was nice enough taste wise could have been hotter Not much fish in it mostly potatoes peas and carrots . In fairness the wheaten bread was lovely.My wife ordered the Garlic Prawns wanted a large portion also ordered a chip not much taste of the prawns The most disappointing thing was the bill we were charged £16.95 for the prawns I should have queried this Disappointing experience overall I am afraid I will not be returning

Just home after an exceptionally lovely meal. This is the second time in a week we've eaten here and would highly recomment it. Staff are lovely and accommodating. Meals superb. Will definitely book and go again. THANK YOU.

Went on sat for dinner to find zero social distancing tables not cleaned between customers one customer left next sat down. Staff no gloves masks rude unfriendly manager oh and they do weekly lock ins app. Well never be back.

We are in Pier 36 recently and felt reassured by the social distance measures in place. They also,have an app you can order through. The staff were helpful friendly and kept the distance. They used the hand sanitisers through the areas all the time

We ordered the To Go menu more than an hour before we wanted the delivery but it was still over 20 minutes late. The chowder starter did not have the wheaten bread & the chicken & scampi came with the wrong side order. Having eaten here regularly in the past we were really disappointed with the online service. If restaurants want to survive in the future thet will have to adapt & improve the service they provide to people who are not able to come into their restaurants to eat

Just back from a lovely meal in Pier 36. There was a great selection of daily specials which is always nice. Food was perfect. Crab claws were class and the homemade brown bread was amazing.Staff were friendly. We had ordered dessert but after waiting for about 10/15 minutes we were told that they'd run out of some ice cream flavours that were supposed to be served with the desserts. At that stage we just got the bill, paid and left as the kids were losing their patience. A small disappointment on what was otherwise a great meal.

Very good food, particularly the Seafood Chowder and the Steak and Guinness pie with outstanding market vegetables. Spacious venue, warm friendly professional service, great value.

With a party of five inclusive two children we have visited the restaurant and seems like Corona caused close down led to personal forgetting how to serve properly, friendly and quickly. I was the only one who actually really liked the food.To sum it up: we were glad that contactless payment worked fine

Amazing food and fantastic service. We are over visiting family and had a night out to Pier 36 for a meal. We ordered the steak deal which was fantastic value and included a bottle of house wine and starters. The starters where beautiful and the Fillet Steak was one of the best I’ve ever had! The house red was also superb. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. We will be back again on our next trip.

Oh my goodness what can I say?! We got a delivery as a wee treat for my sister's birthday during lockdown (which I mentioned in passing when ordering). The women on the phone was lovely and so was the delivery driver. Really nice presentation, even a wee happy birthday written on the delivery bag.The food was amazing, we got a variety of dishes and each one tasted great, nicest we've had in a long time. Definitely worth the money, we will be getting it again!

This has been our local since it opened but it has really excelled itself in the past few weeks since lockdown. Their Pier and Harbour to Go is exceptional. Restaurant quality food in your own home. Well organised by great staff. Also love the fact they have taken the trouble to source compostable containers.

Absolutely first class service, phone the order through pick up in 30min no messing about.I was worried the food wouldn't be as good by the time I got it home...WRONG! This place does not disappoint! Their selection of fish is fantastic and it is also dog friendly which is great when you want to go for a walk and then call into pier 36 for a drink or a meal.

just come back from having Sunday lunch here. it was really good, and lots of food. The menu here is very extensive, and then you have Sunday roast choices on top of them. The seating area is very nice, with wooden chairs and benches. prices were very reasonable. one very minor thing was that there were a couple of errors in our orders, but to be honest we were quite happy to take the alternative.

We just love the atmosphere of Pier 36. Lovely big fire to your left as soon as you enter. Little nooks and crannies to sit in. We can go there with our dog and feel very comfortable and at ease. Some dog friendly places make too much of a fuss of our dog and this makes her excitable and energised when we want her to be peaceful whilst we eat. The food is super. Great veggie stir fry, fish and chips and scampi and chips. Staff are so friendly. Love it : )

My husband and myself went for dinner here on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was busy with families, couples and friends dining and it made for a lovely atmosphere. Everything about about our dinner was perfect from start to fin. The staff were absoluetlt lovely, so knowledgable and nothing was too much trouble. The food...oh my!! It was honestly the nicest dinner I've had in a long time!! Hubby had steak which was cooked perfectly to his liking and the pepper sauce was amazing. I went for the Chicken Maryland which was a delicious twist on the classic dish. Dessert was also amazing, hubby had chocolate fudge cake and I opted for a mini version of the mint areo cheesecake was was lovely. I think what makes this place different from all the others is the little things such as the choice of sides (from roasted veg to cauliflour cheese) the mini dessert options which the waitress brought out a selection of 6 on a tray for me to choose from (I was in my element). I will absolutely be returning!

Very average food, very under cooked thick cut chips, if a chef can't cook chips he/she is in the wrong game. Also before you commit, make sure to get a table FAR AWAY from the flatulent Mr. Veitch, I think was the name, the staff were, for some reason VERY attentive to his every need, and addressed him as such. "Everything ok for you Mr. Veitch?" " Ready for your dessert Mr. Veitch?" "CORK FOR YOUR @R5E MR. VEITCH ?!?!?" So a well known regular I think it is safe to assume. Is this performance a regular occurrence? If so why is he tolerated? Was anyone else in the vicinity who can attest to this flabbergasting behaviour? FOUR loud, long FARTS were our serenade during our dining experience. Staff were informed on hastily leaving, flimsy apology, no discount, Pier farty six should of paid us.

Absolute gem! Fab staff, cannot be nicer. Whichever way you look at this place it is spot on, location etc. We were only staying for one night but ended up staying 3. Everything we ate was fresh and perfectly cooked. The scallops on Saturday were especially good. It is hard to find a pub where no matter what you order comes out great, breakfast was the best I have had in years. Great friendly locals made our visit all the more special. We will be back SOON!!

Ordered the “steak deal for two” @ £60 It’s a shame the steaks came out before the starter ! Ohh ! Sorry ,..... which set the tone for the whole meal !

Went for a late brekkie on sunday with my friend & my little boy. Walked in and the place was so cosy with fire & log burner lit. Food & service was perfect . Always made to feel welcome . Great pub and great staff

Pier 36 was again the perfect choice for our family Christmas Eve outing.

Called on spec for lunch & as usual wasn’t disappointed. Excellent atmosphere, good food & tip top service but shame a wee bit pricey at almost £100 to feed a family of four for lunch but suppose it is Christmas!
