Platta Cafe - Bar - Bistro in Erewash

I’ve been here on a number of occasions and the food has been good. However, today the quiche that I ordered was virtually inedible. The pastry was raw and the filling was scant. When I drew this to the waitresses attention, she was disinterested and offered no explanation. The menu has been pared down, which is fine, but the quality of the food needs to be maintained. So disappointing.

Having been in October for a birthday I was looking forward to returning. The food then was excellent. However today very disappointing. I ordered the quiche with salad and in lieu of fries I asked for extra salad. I received a small handful of mixed leaves drenched in dressing with 4 small slices of tomato. This was barely a side salad - not a full salad. The dressing although nice pooled on my plate. The quiche was shallow with little filling. My husband had fish and chips which was very good except the mushy peas which had an overpowering flavour of vinegar. The menu choices has been much reduced. When asked if we enjoyed the meal I pointed out my disappointment. Although she said ‘sorry’ I was not offered any form of recompense. No incentive to return.

Visited for the first time last night, for their Bistro night. After we were greeted and seated, we were made aware of their offer for the evening - a free starter or dessert with each main ordered. Even better ! Both of the team did an excellent job front of house, backed by a brilliant chef in the kitchen. Each of them clearly take pride in their work and their surroundings as the venue itself was very clean and welcoming. Everything we had was cooked to perfection and we had zero complaints. My husband had the beef to start followed by the seabass. I opted for the chicken breast followed by a chocolate brownie. Neither of us were disappointed and left feeling very full indeed - so the portion sizes are ideal too. There was a great drink selection and everything was reasonably priced too. Honestly, we wish we’d visited here sooner. Hope to come back soon and maybe even host a private function there in the future. Keep up the great work - you’re all doing such a a wonderful job !

Four of us came to the bistro night on Saturday 6/1/24 the food was wonderful, 2 of us had the mushroom risotto which was delicious the best I remember eating, 1 had the curry and the other had the steak (I was told it was cooked to perfection). The staff and owner always make you feel welcome and the atmospheres they create is warm and inviting. We all had a lovely evening. Popped here for lunch after hearing good things; the service was the perfect balance between friendly & professional. The chef tweaked the Wild Mushroom Risotto dish for my Vegan dietary requirements, I have to say it is sublime and the best Wild Mushroom Risotto I have ever eaten out (and I am a professional fungi forager). The coffee was superb, so much so we each had a second. I would highly recommend this venue & we will be returning soon.

We went this lunchtime for our first time and was thoroughly amazed.the service was outstanding and friendly.the dish i had was one of the best fish and chips I’ve had from a restaurant. 10 out of 10.

We had breakfast with Santa at Platta on 10/12/23. The whole thing from start to finish was slick, the delicious breakfast was served quickly and Santa circulated around the tables saying hello and having photos with the children. After we had eaten we were called out 1 family at a time to see Santa with his elf in a beautiful grotto with a lovely welcome and no pressure to rush. The gift was a book which was perfect for my grandson with a magical Christmas story. It felt very personal, relaxing and professional. The staff were all lovely and nothing was too much trouble. I’ll be going next year.

I’ve eaten at Platta several times and it has always been a fabulous experience. The food is absolutely delicious with amazing gluten free options. Staff are friendly and very attentive. Great choice of drinks. The coffee is 10/10. The bistro evenings are lovely, such a great atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Wow what can I say - went here for a birthday celebration and ate in one of the booths. Such a unique idea, heated (was so cosy and warm even in the -2 weather) and we could even play our own play list on Alexa. We all had starters to share and I've got to say the crab cakes with katsu curry sauce were just delicious. I then had ribeye steak cooked wonderfully, my son had the smash burger it was such a generous portion and everything tasted so fresh. Staff were really attentive, will definitely be going back and wouldn't hesitate in recommending.

Wow, booked a table of 6 last night for an evening meal, the food and service really was fantastic. A lovely bistro that I’ve been meaning to visit for some, I can 100% guarantee I’ll be returning and looking forward to trying all the other dishes on the menu. Went to Platta for breakfast with my partner this morning. Have to say , it was the best breakfast I’ve ever had! Lovely hot food, cooked to our requirements. The staff are always pleasant and professional, we absolutely love this restaurant and would highly recommend it. Give it a go , you will not be disappointed!! We have had various meals here and keep going back. If anyone has ever been unhappy with the food or service, they must be very picky eaters!!😊

Really disappointed today we waited an hour for our breakfast, weren’t offered any drinks or apologies during this time. When the breakfast finally arrived the two full breakfast had no hash browns or tomatoes, we were told at this point they had run out of hash browns despite the table next to us having just been given a bowl of hash browns in addition to their breakfast. I ordered scrambled egg on toast which when it arrived after an hour was one slice of cold toast with a very small portion of egg - poor value for money. There appeared to be no one taking charge just 3 very young waitresses.
