Rana's in Stirling

Bland food, poor service and never ending wait for decidedly average food - particularly given we had preordered. They also got the order wrong. Will sadly not be back.

Waited two hours, along with some other customers, for our take out tonight! Eventually gave up!! Total lack of communication or customer service. Took our money but left us just sitting waiting! It wasn’t a big order! Disgraceful customer service. Will NEVER be back!

Went for a romantic meal and while the decor was a bit dated the food and service was excellent. Waiter said all food was made fresh to order.

1st time absolutely delicious very polite with myself hopefully see u soon in callander definitely worth the drive will be back

Having recently moved to Bridge of Allan, we thought we would try out the “carry out” service at Rana’Restaurant and ended up short of popadums and there was no mango chutney or rice - which Indian restaurant sends out a carry out with no rice? The food was ok, but we were disappointed with the carry out service.

We came in and looked at the menu but decided to not order as the place seemed to have a bad atmosphere. I politely said that we'd come back when they were busier. The waiter got very nasty, shouting at us, saying that we should have realised this before my partner used the toilet and I have a sip from the tap water. He then told us to never come back. My partner and I were very upset, it was a nasty bit of aggression to be exposed to when we just wanted a nice meal.

Had a lovely meal with all my family at Ranas in BOFA.. The food , the service and presentation was perfect. Good value for money in a lovely setting. Highly recomnended !

Rana's has gone downhill. I ordered a takeaway last Sunday and was told I'd get my order within 45 minutes max. When it still hadn't arrived 1.5 hours later I called back (I was unable to call sooner as I was putting my daughter to bed, hence why the original time suited perfectly). I was asked to call back in 2 minutes so they could check what was going on with my order. I called back and they told me that they were waiting on the driver and that they couldn't give me a specific time!!! Why was I not told about this sooner? I questioned this some more and was told they'd call me back shortly. After 20 mins of not hearing from them I called back. They confirmed they didn't have a driver for the night and so couldn't tell me when I'd get my delivery so I cancelled my order at this point and was told they'd call me later to sort out the refund. I didn't get a call back. I completely forgot about it until a couple of nights later but each time I remembered, the restaurant wasn't open and then I'd forget again. However, I shouldn't be calling for my refund, they should be the ones proactively trying ro give me my refund for their issue. It's Friday and I managed to call during restaurant hours. I called early, given it's a Friday night but the man said he couldn't deal with my request at the moment because he was cooking. He said he'd call me back later, to which I responded, "you better not make me have to call you back because you've forgotten AGAIN." He promised he'd call but guess what? No call back!!! It's been nearly a week and I still haven't got my refund! This is atrocious! If they are under staffed or they have no driver then do not accept orders you cant fulfill! Or call back and let me know my order isn't going to be fulfilled. Simple.

Ordered takeaway at 5pm. Told 45mins. Almost 2 hours later, nothing. Phone them and they say " Shall we just cancel?". Appalling customer service. Will NEVER use again.

Lovely meal and great service from Simon and the team. Great food and nice cosy setting. Highly recommended for a special meal or just a quick mid week visit. Good value too.

Please don't try to use a taste card here. The manager changes his mind on when you can or can't use it and lied saying by saying it was due to a change in taste cards rules!

It wasn't obvious that the restaurant was open to dine-in as it seemed more geared up for takeaways, but after an enquiry it was open. It's not the most atmospheric of restaurants and had there not been another party in it would have felt a bit awkward. The food was okay, I had South Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken, although the description of "If you like it hot and spicy, this will blow your mind" didn't live up to it's promise! It was moderately hot at best. Come the end of the evening we struggled to get a taxi so the owner gave us a lift back - which I thought was a really nice touch.

We had to wait 3 hours for our order to get delivered!!! When we called to find out what was happening and told us they forgot to call and let us know the drivers car had broke down. When it did finally arrive the food was warm and the chicken tikka chasni was probably the worst chasni I’ve ever had. The other curries and nan bread was nice however. So annoyed about the poor service and how long we had to wait after spending £45. We were given no apology or and the staff seemed clueless as to what was going on. Will definitely not be ordering again.

From the start of as making an order tonight it has been awful, we are still waiting on one a main meal , the incompetence of tonight’s simple order of food has been horrific , it is extremely frustrating when you make mistakes but you waited for us to call! Then expect us to collect , We live in Kippen, we waited two hours to get the right meal . And the attitude of the girl delivering was shocking, The food is good but your service is substandard! My husband may have been short on the phone but he was by that point waiting 60mins after we had eaten! He wanted Lamb I paid extra and you gave us veggie curry!!! And you didn’t apologise once!

Just ordered a mixed grill with korma sauce and a garlic nan. Waited one hour 20 mine for it to arrive. I can only describe it as unedable! Suace was tasteless, everything was cold and the meat was like the leather sole of my old boot!! Last time I will be there. Maharaja is the by far the best Indian in town, never a bad meal. Stick to what you know.

Asked for 2 chicken pakora and 2 naan bread at 17:45 and was delivered 3 hours later at 20:45 stone cold and only half of order. Will mot be back and would not recommend to anyone.

This was the tandoori king prawn starter take away for £6.95. Really???? Terrible sized portion. Hoping the main course is better. I recommend papa’s or India gate in dunblane over this place any day.

Just had one of the best Indian meals I have ever eaten in Rana’s in Bridge of Allan. Service excellent staff very friendly. They really should make and sell their sauces as has the Madhuban in Liss, Hampshire. Rana’s is easily as good, if not better

Stirling tiene muchos restaurantes indios, pero Ranas es nuestro favorito por mucho. Ambos se sientan y para llevar, nunca hemos tenido una mala comida. ¡Consistente es la palabra para describirlo! Gran servicio y nos encanta el plato especial de Ranas para 2 y los curries del sur de India / Tawa / Mela especialmente!

Recientemente visité este restaurante ya que tienen otros pero definitivamente no lo recomendaría. el camarero era muy amable y atento, ya que era tranquilo en el momento en que llegamos, pero estaba ocupado con comida para llevar, etc. El personal no está vestido con uniforme o elegante y se ve un poco descuidado. Un tiempo ocupado. la comida estaba bien, pero nunca volvería, ya que cuanto más miramos alrededor y vimos lo sucio que estaba el lugar y los baños eran una farsa. vez que la salud del medio ambiente hizo una visita.

Rana’s is amazing, some of the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten hands down. I’ve both sat in and taken away and it’s always been great. 10/10 will visit again.

We had a takeaway from here on Saturday night. The poppadums were soggy and my Lamb Karahi was tasteles, however, my son did enjoy his Tikka Masala. The restaurant itself is very small

Stopped in for some pakora. Got 8 small bits of mushroom pakora for a fiver. Half the tub was salad. I thought it strange that it costs more for takeaway than it does to eat in. Not very good value, in my opinion. Will eat elsewhere in future.

We are regulars at Rana's, for takeaway and sit it. Food is excellent, my husband would eat there every night of the week if he could.

Preguntamos en Brewhouse sobre los restaurantes indios locales y nos dirigieron a Rana, justo al otro lado de la calle en la calle principal. Rana es un lugar pequeño. Las mesas fueron rápidamente reorganizadas por un personal servicial para acomodar a nuestro grupo de 5. Poppadoms y dips fueron rápidamente llevados a la mesa. Nosotros teníamos una mezcla compartida de entrantes que incluían pakoras, samosas y pollo poori, que es un maravilloso pan ligero relleno. Pedí un plato principal que no estaba en el menú, patia de carne picada, una especie de plato agridulce indio. Esto no fue un problema Todos mis amigos tenían cordero Rogan josh. Sí, un poco inusual para obtener cuatro opciones iguales. Todo esto estaba acompañado de arroz hervido ligero y una selección de panes peshwari y pan llano. La comida era realmente deliciosa y el servicio fantástico. Esta resultó ser una buena opción de "tiro en la oscuridad". Desafortunadamente, no puedo decir mucho sobre el precio ya que mi muy generoso amigo recogió la factura, pero supongo que alrededor de 100 por 5, lo que es genial. Appetising masala with numerous flavours of choice. Well catered service with extremely helpful staff. Nice environment! Enjoying great drinks and meal here with three of my fellows.

Terrible service from just eat and Ranas

Some food arrived 2 hours late and the remainder arrived 2.5 hours late. Rana's tried quite hard to get out of delivering the remainder of the meal. Part of the meal was cold and other parts were incorrect. It was everyone's fault, but theirs and they declined to give any kind of refund. Exceptionally poor service.

The restaurant needs to take more care when taking online orders to note down the right address. My order was going to 45 Moreland Place when I checked multiple times that I had put 35 Moreland Place.

Said order ready 650 still waiting at 7.10 ... ordered a garlic naan bread it was so spicy it was inedible ...

Received order over an hour and a half late after placing it. Once received order one dish was incorrect - when phoning for a refund this was advised that the issue was due to miscommunication from just eat. Both companies declined a refund (despite wrong meal delivered) - will not purchase here through just eat again and would not advise anyone else to

We have made this restaurant our “go to” for a curry. The food is always freshly made while you sit at your table. The gorgeous aroma from the kitchen is better than any appetiser!!

The last review was on the Runrig weekend and but a normal day!!! We eat here once a week, and it’s always lovely not the cheapest but very much one of the best in the area !

Ordered for collection. Arrived at time I was told then to wait for 5 mins before anyone came over. Even though there was 4 staff standing doing nothing! Was then told that just eat had only just phoned them with my order and that I would have to wait another 20 mins! Not on! Told them not to bother.Terrible customer service!

Called in here for a mid week evening meal. The menu is diverse but the food was rather average. Nothing special.

Saturday night takeaway, Very small restaurant and would not sit in for a meal. This place is really busy for takeaways with a constant flow. Food is great but service is slow and they looked confused serving, place is too small to cope, pity as the food is really nice.

In short, the management of the restaurant is poor and false. The reason I give for this is because my friend used to do their deliveries and they refused to pay her at the end of the night. She repeatedly asked to be paid in person and they kept making up excuses. Despite her story, I tried this place for the first time. My family and I went to sit in and the service was slow. We don't drink alcohol so when we asked for tap water, they refused to serve it claiming that they only had bottled water and there was issues with the taps. Shocking. It was Saturday night so fairly busy and we stayed because we didn't think we would get in anywhere else plus I had promised my Grandad a good India meal. It only got worse, food came out cold and rather bland. I had always heard this place was a hit and miss but refused to believe it because of it's excellent reviews but do not be fooled people. To sum up, disgusting management, tasteless cold food and rude service.

Food was stone cold once it arrived, vegetable pakora was soggy from being in the bag for so long, re heated but didn’t taste the same. Naan bread also stone cold. Love the food in the restaurant but wouldn’t get it delivered again.

Waited for 50 minutes to collect my order.. if id known I wouldnt have turned up at the correct time or at all! All five tables were full when I arrived, though there were three people waiting for collections at least twenty minutes. One of the waiters seemed like he was doing everything while the other two girls were having a chat.. food was not hot, only slightly when it finally arrived and no apology for wait.

Writing this review at 11pm having just been told our order that we placed at 7:30pm has been cancelled. Was told initially it would be 9pm. Chased 4 times during the wait. First time after an hour and a half they said it was on its way. Second last time at 10pm I said one of our party had gone to bed and we didn't want full order so asked if they would comp some of it. The person on the phone (who claimed to be the owners son) said he'd phone the driver and phone me back. Next time I chased was given such a laughable response barely merits writing - involved them offering to send the order the next day. Saturday dinner on Sunday. Eventually was again assured the driver was on the way (the third time in two hours I'd been told the driver was on the five minute journey). Finally in the last call, another half hour later I was told they had mixed me up with someone else and had cancelled my order an hour before but not bothered telling me. So, unless you want to risk eating cheese on toast at 11:15pm as I am, I'd avoid them like the plague. I'm sure the reader might think there's two sides to every story etc, and I guess if they have more concern for their reputation than it seems from tonight's debacle they might post a response but it really is pretty simple here. On telling him that I was going to review to try to avoid some other poor soul having the same experience he said "you'll just look bitter and like you're trying to stop someone earning an honest living". Anyway best of luck if you decide to take the chance - just to be balanced and lend credibility to my complaint I will say the food we've previously found pretty good on the handful of times we've ordered but I'd personally rather have average food that you know you're going to get than run the gauntlet of it not arriving at all. They've always been late on every order but usually it's just a case of add half an hour. I've never had a meal delivery completely failed previously hence the review.

food arrived very late, no longer hot. no apology or explanation apart from them saying it was busy when we had to ring to ask where order was. three containers were leaking in the bag and when we rung a second time were told they were on their way when they clearly weren’t. not happy and VERY disappointed.

Delivery was made 1hr 15mins late. Yes busy period but no comms from restaurant to advise of delay, they didn’t seem aware when I called to enquire. When eventually delivered both rice and naan were cold and needed reheated. Not a good service this evening.

bad food turns cold when it arrived

I had requested the food be delivered for 7.00pm and it arrived just before 6.00!!! The food itself was delicious - just far too early.

I actually liked the food. It was not too spicy, but the place is really small. When you come into the restaurant the first thing you see is a table with laptop and papers on it which is apparently used as office. The food is good but be aware you will smell after it once you leave ;)

Very small table area, an awful lot of their trade is take out, but this was a treat. Starters lovely, then the mains, wow, best curries we have had for ages. Subtle, and in no way overpowering on flavour the taste was spot on for both our dishes, and a last minute request for a chapatti was met promptly. They have Cobra beer on draught, coffee and after eights to follow.

This is a fantastic place from which to order food. The curries are very good, I can recommend the Chicken Madras which is everything you'd expect if you know your curries. Thick, spicy sauce and succulent chicken that's as tender as you can get. Their pakora is also excellent. Top notch all round.

My husband and I stopped at Ranas while out for a run on our motorbike do we hadn't booked a table. We were made very welcome and given a table by the window. Although the resturant is tiny Inside and has a very cosy atmosphere, the portions are certainly not tiny. We had a mixed vegetable platter to share followed by a veg curry each and a delicious peshwari naan. Neither of us eat meat and found that there was a large choice of veg dishes, the waiter said that they can make any dish vegetable as it is all made fresh.

2 hours for delivery is now the norm. Delivery service has become unacceptably long over the past few months. When I called to chase on both of last occasions I was not proactively offered any sort of goodwill gesture. Will not be using again.

Tuve una excelente comida. El servicio era amable y la comida servida rápidamente, aunque estaba ocupado. Es pequeño, así que si hay un número de su grupo creo reserva sería una buena idea.

Nach 2 Wochen Schottland und entsprechenden kulinarischen Entbehrungen :-) haben wir heute im Rana's eine wirklich sehr gute indische Küche vorgefunden. Das Tikka Masala mit Koriander und Knoblauch war eine Wucht! Die Bedienung sehr freundlich, die Preise fair, läge es näher an der Heimat, würden wir dort Stammgast....

Pedimos un pollo Pakora, Donner Kebab y Peshawri Nan. . . Pakora fue realmente agradable. Nan estaba pasada pero Peshawri lo peor era el Donner. . . El peor donner en nuestra vida entera. Tan malo que no podía comer, y tuvimos que pegan en la papelera! La carne era tan grasienta y no es apropiado para comer. A pesar de ponernos comer solo al instante sobre el desagradable kebab el restaurante se negó a hacer nada. Es una pena. Bonito pero evita Pakora. kebabs en todos los costos y evidentemente su atención al cliente es inexistente.

Una fachada muy modesto y sólo un pequeño interior, pero la calidad de la comida era buena y el servicio muy agradable. Decidí optar por un curry de pescado para un cambio y eligió el pescado con gambas, arroz de Goa y un lado de patatas bombay, que era muy sabroso!

First time I've ordered from Ranas in B of A and i have to say I was very impressed!! The food was tasty and delivered within 35mins.

The food is so tasty and you get relatively big portions apart from the nice which is kinda on the small side, the staff were lovely and polite. Its super small inside however when we were in there we noticed a lot of the food was for takeaways.Would recommend

Popped in here for early dinner this week. Really small inside but they had space. Staff really friendly and helpful. Food really fresh and well cooked. We ate chicken balti and Peshwari naan soft doughy and sweet. Balti really tasty and nicely spiced. Takeaway side of things looked very busy and they do delivery too.

Enjoyed my mid-week meal at Rana's. The food was cooked very well, quite tasty and the service was very friendly and efficient. I would have liked more spice though but still very tasty indeed!

Food was more than 15 minutes late, which meant it was over an hour between ordering and delivery. Had ordered 2l bottle of Diet Coke, was given 4 cans of Diet Coke instead which is a lot less - disappointing.

For the second time i got rice and i had ordered a nan bread. The chicken was tough and the sauce had no flavour.

Use Ranas regularly, wouldn't go anywhere else for curry in this area. Food is well priced and quality first class. Delivered on time. All round good service. Thanks :-))

Been several times. Had a variety of dishes from their menu. I'll be there again at some point in the near future. It's a small and nicely decorated restaurant, the service is always great and the food is nicely presented and always up to standard. If you want a good meal, go to Rana's
