Maldon & District Community Voluntary Services (M&DCVS) used Serendipity Gift & Tea Shop for catering for approx. 40 people at our `Winter wellbeing Fest`event held in Maldon January 18th. We had been let down by our other caterers & Serendipity were able to step in at late notice to do the catering for us... The offered range of food items was wider & better than we would have had from our previous caterers & the food was of real good quality. We had very positive feedback from our event attendees about the quality of the food & having eaten it myself at the event I can vouch for this being true. I would highly recommend Serendipity Gift & Tea Shop if you are looking to either visit their shop or use them for catering, they were professional, their costs were more than reasonable, their food was of high quality and they were a tremendous help to us by delivering & helping to set up the food spread on delivery. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

Maldon is a fantastic little town with so many great places to eat and drink. Serendipity is one of the best — we popped in and we’re welcomed straight away. It’s a cute , kitschy little place full of charm and the food was really good. My husband declared that his breakfast was the best he’d eaten, even better than his own cooking ! High praise indeed! We’ll definitely be back.

My new favourite place in Maldon. Not the biggest place, but the food is fresh and well prepared and the coffee is lovely. Very friendly and made to feel welcome, with excellent service. I love the mis matched vintage china. If it is a criticism the serving of food is rather slow, but it is not a fast food establishment, and if you are not in a hurry then it is not a problem. Most certainly on my list of places to go in Maldon,

This tea room is a marvellous little gem. Very friendly staff and as an added bonus is dog friendly which we have found to be very rare in Maldon. Always eat there when in town.

We had a lovely lunch here and we were able to take my daughters dachshund as well. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble (even giving the dog a treat and lots of fuss!) There was a lot of choice on the menu and as vegetarians, my daughter and I were catered for really well. The price was very good and it was great to be able to browse the locally-made craft items for sale, which made the visit a great experience. We would thoroughly recommend it!

We booked in for afternoon tea here but when I arrived I was made to feel they weren't expecting me. When I explained my booking the young girl disappeared out the back to check and I was kept waiting for some time. Meanwhile several other staff ignored me and I ended up sitting myself down at a table, only to then be moved to where it was 'nicer' but actually it was a lot busier and we were place in a high traffic area. I was frequently barged into by people. Whilst I understand the ambience is cosy this felt borderline claustrophobic! Tea was served in a tiny pot, only enough for one cup which meant I had to keep asking for more. The cutlery was dirty and my cup had some dirt inside too. Slightly off putting when you're hoping to eat there. The afternoon tea arrived. We weren't notified what was what so unfortunately we only ate about 3 things because that was all we liked. The cakes were really dry but the sandwiches - the ones we liked were nice. Service was a tad slow but it was busy. There was a shop upstairs advertised so we took a look bit the stairs were incredibly steep and difficult to manoeuvre. The shop itself, if you call it that, was incredibly disappointing and a big anti climax. Staff were friendly, despite the initial mix up but I didn't feel it was fair for the table next to us to be offered a free cake on the house? This same lady stroked a dog at another table and then went to serve some food!

We chose this cosy cafe to host a family reunion, as we wanted to feel free to move around chat and just enjoy every bodies company without upsetting others or being a disturbance, we had buffet style hot & cold food , tea, coffee & juice , bring your own booze . Food was fabulous, hot and catered for most needs. Ideal space for a small private function, some out door space and the owner and staff are wonderful, nothing to much trouble.

My first experience with afternoon tea anywhere so was unsure what to expect. Serendipity were excellent from start to finish. Lovely cosy place with staff that cannot do enough for you. My wife is Gluten free which they catered for with ease and were very careful not to cross contaminate. The sandwiches, scones and cakes were amazing and such great value for money. I will definately be back..

Fantastic tea rooms, we had exclusive use of premises for my husband’s big birthday celebration. Nothing was too much trouble. True to Hayley’s word, we were in the capable hands of Lauren and her team. Scrummy food, amazing venue.

Called in this morning for breakfast while out walking our dog. Venue was clean and tidy, waitress was polite and friendly, even brought out a bowl of water plus a treat for our dog. We both had a large breakfast and a coffee all tasted fresh and flavorful. To some up well worth a visit if your in the high street.

Beautiful little tea room, the waitress was very sweet, anything we asked for she politely brought it to us, the food was really nice, I ordered the prawn chilli noodle salad, it was the size of a dinner and tasted delicious, my friend and I have visited the tea room before and always pleased with our food and service, will be returning.

I’ve been to a few of these places in and around town, but I’d have to say, this is certainly up there with my favourites. The food and service were both brilliant and the atmosphere was amazing. Staff there couldn’t haven’t been more polite. I’d definitely go again and would highly recommend to people in the area!

Went to this delightful tea room and gift shop, food was amazing and very reasonable priced, lovely atmosphere staff very helpful and friendly. Tea room down stairs and gift shop upstairs full of homemade gifts. Dogs welcome too.

Visited before 2nd lockdown. Staff here are passionate and extremely friendly. The menu is great and food is delicious. A lovely little place to eat or just have a drink if you’d prefer.

Absolutely beautiful. All fresh, sandwiches well filled, cakes and scones all tasted fresh and yummy. One of the best cream teas had in a while, definitely order again.
