Snitterfield Arms in Stratford-on-Avon

We booked two tables for 10 people in total. We should have realised we were in for a tough time straight away as nobody else was eating in the entire pub. What followed was the most frustrating 30 minutes I have ever spent in a pub. Trying to order the food was very difficult as the waitress was clearly not interested in writing anything down or even attempting to remember what we ordered. She had to clarify our order twice post order and still got it entirely wrong. There were only about half a dozen items on the menu so I can’t understand how they got is so spectacularly wrong. People had the wrong order, some of us got nothing at all and they also seemed to invent new dishes in the kitchen and tried to palm them off on us. Whoever it was that sliced the bread for the shop bought pate starter should retrain as they’re never going to make it in the kitchen either. Poor quality food, atrocious service and a manager that looked like she wanted to be anywhere but behind the bar serving people. I genuinely can’t see what anyone was getting out of running that pub. I was warned it was hit and miss before arriving but that review was wrong; it’s 100% miss

We have just returned from a stay nearby. The staff at this pub are exceptional. My husband and I needed a taxi but just could not get one. The girls serving on the night of 22nd May Saturday were so very helpful and tried hard to help. We missed our restaurant booking in Stratford due to taxi let down. However the girls recommend alternative suggestions and were brilliant. Thanks. Well done ✅

We found this welcoming pub on the internet as we wanted to meet up outside the hustle and bustle of Stratford. This really is a relaxing, genuine local pub serving the pretty village of Snitterfield. The service was friendly and the food was decent quality. Definitely a good place to meet and catch up with friends!

Very cold in the pub, friendly barman. Ordered lasagne which tasted like cottage pie, no tomato in it. Chips weren't home made, thought they would be as it said triple cooked. Partner had burger which was cold.

Dinner with friends and 3 kids under 5. Food and service all great. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much hassle. We will gladly return - this is a great place for a traditional pud dinner.

Enhorabuena a todo el personal de allí y en particular gracias al barman que hizo una visita agradable aún más especial, especialmente por coquetear con mi madre de 90 años (¡o fue al revés!)

This is our village pub and since having new owners we were not impressed with the staff, food or atmosphere which was such a shame as it had been brilliant before. The food was terrible and the staff never came to see if we wanted a drink whilst we were eating. However since meeting the new manager Lee last week he convinced us this had changed. We booked a table for 4 and couldn’t have been happier. The young girl serving us was really attentive always checking we had drinks, Lee also came to check everything was alright. The chef even served me my favourite dish which had been taken off the menu, in my mind he went above and beyond. We had a fantastic evening with amazing food, great atmosphere and wonderful staff. So glad to have our lovely village pub back to a high standard again.

Evening meal for sons birthday. Can't be faulted. Great service and fantastic food. We all enjoyed our meals very much and the whole evening was really great.Would certainly recommend ..we will be back I'm sure. Thanks to everyone .

La comida excelente debe darse cuando cenas, pero esta comida tradicional de pub inglés fue cuidadosamente preparada, bien presentada y muy sabrosa. No hay carnes de supermercado baratas, solo productos de alta calidad. Pero lo que realmente destaca es el servicio y la actitud del personal. Incluso frente a un restaurante lleno de demoras inevitables, se manejó con maestría. Prueba este lugar, ¡no te arrepentirás!

A group of us called in for lunch and really enjoyed our visit. The food was excellent as was the service. They serve smaller options for the over 60's and that was ideal for most of our party, although the meals were still a good portion. Would definitely call back if in the area.

We found this pub on the main road through the village quite by chance. We had a tasty light lunch in their garden. Order at the bar and then waitress service. Good choice, very yummy and dog friendly. It was a very hot Saturday morning when we visited.

My wife and I live in SuA and this place is just up the road. The welcome was great, the food was simple but real quality, we will definitely be back. For a village pub grub venue this was 10/10

Went for lunch and had brie and bacon baguette and chips and the baguette was generously filled. Chips were fluffy in the middle and crispy on the outside and so yummy. Went back the next day for Sunday lunch and had lamb shank that just melted in the mouth. Staff were really nice and attentive. Lee couldn’t have looked after us better.

Called in for lunch to try out for a lunch with friends next week. Arrived just on 12 had a.coffee and studied the menu which seemed ok. Ordered from main menu, steak pie mustard mash and veg, and chicken supreme with new potatoes and veg. Half an hour later the meals arrived piping hot. The pie was crusty with not much meat filling, plain mash and aldente beans and broccoli that the knife struggled to cut. The chicken came with mashed potatoes and a mushroom topping which was not our idea of supreme and those veg again.

My family and I came to the Snitterfield Arms in a large group this afternoon and we received fantastic service and lovely food from start to finish. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this lovely pub :)

Nine of us dined here as we were staying nearby. It was just as well we booked a table in advance as the pub was busy. Good choice on the menu, the meals were very tasty but some could have been hotter.

We booked this on the strength of other reviews but we were disappointed. On a Saturday night, a handful of regulars took drinks from the bar to tables outside to smoke, leaving us alone in a large bar and restaurant.

We dined here one evening as we were saying at a nearby B&B.; The staff were very welcoming and personable and service was good. The food was well presented, was just right in terms of quantity and was very flavoursome. They also served a very good pint. We would have no hesitation eating there again if the area.

Visited with friends tonight & wont go back, there was only a few people in there (not surprising)!

Stopped at a hotel in the area and called in for a drink .Very friendly landlady and barman, lovely atmosphere and excellent choice of gins !!. Booked the next evening for a meal which was very good, would definitely go back again if in the area.

We called in here for dinner whilst staying nearby. The Inn itself was very nicely laid out,the food wonderful and the staff charming.

My partner and I popped in for one drink but stayed for more and have to say we were really impressed. Great ambience, great selection of drinks (Gin’s especially!) Will be back soon with the children to try the new food menu, we got a sneak peak at it and looks delicious! Lovely place, highly recommended a visit.

We visited the Snitterfield Arms hoping for a relaxed, cosy Friday night dinner, as neither of us wanted to cook or drive into town. Unfortunately, this wasn’t what happened.

Tuesday 23rd April 19, my husband and I went for supper at ‘The Snitterfield Arms’ we had visited here once over twenty years ago, so it was a brand new experience for us to come again and eat in these lovely surroundings and enjoy good food and pleasant staff.

El pub tenía un interior acogedor y nos recibió un gran personal y nos acomodaron rápidamente. El menú era genial para el almuerzo, personalmente tuve el cordero y fue preparado perfectamente. Las comidas de mi esposa e hijas también fueron perfectas. Estaremos 100% visitando nuevamente. El personal, la calidad de la comida y la relación calidad-precio que nos sentimos eran de primera clase. Gracias chicos, nos vemos pronto.

We arrived late and were provided with food despite it being nearly 2 hours after they’d officially closed the kitchen! We had a very good meal in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Thank you to the team at the Snitterfield Arms.

We used to go to this Pub regularly and loved it, but after it was taken over we stopped going. Today we decided to return for lunch, which was very good. It is so disappointing that the new owners are so bad at running this lovely place. They didn’t even have lime juice! There was one delightful lady trying to do everything. The two men faffing around were a total waste of space. Despite only two other people dining, there were empty glasses left on the tables and the place hadn’t been cleaned for sometime. So sad

I tend to have light meals here when I am too busy to cook as I live nearby. The fish and chips is great, better than a takeaway as it is always better fresh. The tomato and basil soup is really good. Weekend brunch menus is excellent.

We had a lovely meal here while my daughter was visiting us, a lovely woman served us and presented two amazing Gin and Tonics filled with raspberries and juniper berries. We had the Cod and Chips and Fish cakes which were delightful, so beautifully cooked. Thankyou, we look forward to coming back and trying some more food and other ranges of gin

This place has massively gone down hill under the new mangement. Rude bar lady who’s attitude is not suited to facing the general public. Unwelcoming atmosphere, poor service and very mediocre food. The one thing they do know how to do is charge!

Whilst staying in the area we decided to eat locally. The pub has had a change of hands recently and so we weren't too sure what to expect.

Visited for Sunday lunch. Pub has potential but lacks atmosphere for some reason. Limited menu which usually indicates top class food- it wasn’t.

We stayed at an air bnb in Snitterfield for a weekend away from London and were recommended the pub for Sunday lunch. The staff were really friendly and food was great - good portion sizes! We decided to come back on our second night too and again loved the food and cheery atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

Myself and my partner visited today for lunch. The staff were welcoming and friendly and we enjoyed a beer before deciding on the burger from the menu. It was a ribeye burger,beautifully cooked and very well presented with some tasty chips and a lovely side salad and slaw. It was a very enjoyable meal and we'll both be back for sure to try some more of the menu.

I have reviewed this pub before however that was before the recent change in management. This pubs quality still is there, good food and drink nice furnishings and good value. I recent attended with more 13 year old daughter for a dinner and it was an enjoyable experience.

Went in for drinks after a local walk. Barman was friendly enough, not sure about the other staff. Limited parking.

Stopped here, on the back of a recommendation, to break a journey at Christmas. Food was excellent, children were well catered for with the children's menu, games etc and staff were very friendly and helpful! Would definitely go back!

Popped in with family. Was greated with a walm welcome and shown to a table I had calamari starter, Steak and ale pie for main the food was fabulous. Very cosey and relaxing atmosphere. Definitely will be returning.

Visitamos el Snitterfield Arms para el almuerzo del domingo y quedamos muy decepcionados. Los almuerzos de los domingos fueron probablemente los más caros que hemos visto en un pub y las raciones eran pobres. Teníamos 'Suprema de pollo asado' y 'Carne asada'. El pollo estaba bien, aunque era pequeño, la carne consistía en una rebanada entera y un par de trozos rotos, era extremadamente rara y masticable. Cada uno se servía con un pudín de Yorkshire, 3 papas asadas pequeñas y algunas verduras (las verduras estaban muy bien). Se suponía que había 2 cervezas reales disponibles, pero ambas eran imposibles de beber. Es una pena, ya que es un pub muy inteligente por dentro y por fuera, y fue uno de nuestros lugares habituales hace unos años.

La familia y yo estábamos buscando un lugar para ir a desayunar y luego recordamos que un miembro de la familia mencionó el lanzamiento de un brunch este fin de semana en el pub ¡qué joya! Tomé el desayuno de armas de Snitterfield y fue justo lo que necesitaba! También tenía una fabulosa variedad de pasteles para tener también! Que bien va hoy también.

Extremely disappointing experience. Have been before, food and atmosphere was amazing but today , have had a change of management and the food was extremely poor!! We felt very sorry for the staff!! As all they could do was to apologise. Had 4 meals. 1 small portion and 3 normal size. The only difference was 2 extra bits of garlic bread! Which cost an extra £4! WHAT!!!Won't go back

Was told about this pub by the staff at the campsite so we drove out to find it and it's a really nice pub serving good food with friendly staff. Definitely would go a again .

On our second trip to purchase chickens from the Domestic Fowl Trust in Snitterfield - the first time we had stopped, and eaten, in nearby Stratford-upon-Avon - I checked that the pub would be open on a Monday, and serving light lunches / sandwiches. Emily, who had taken my call, happened to greet us as we arrived, and we were impressed by the friendliness and attention of all the staff. The interior is well-maintained, the decor eclectic, and the Light Bites menu offered just the sort of snack lunch we were looking for: a fresh tuna mayo baguette for me, and a jacket with cheese & beans for my wife, who was particularly impressed with the quality of the potato - little things...Admittedly some of the ingredients appear more than once in different guises (eg goats cheese and roasted vegetables), but no harm in that; it saves asking whether a jacket filling can be put in a baguette. I'm sure we'll be back on our next fowl excursion!

My father recently visited with a group of fellow residents from his care home. The pub is very accessible and the party was made to feel most welcome. All of the residents enjoyed the meal and hope to return again soon.

I had a good meal and a great host one chilly and crisp January day! A charming stop on my travels through Snitterfield!

We visited the Snitterfield Arms to celebrate our 94 year old mothers birthday we received a warm welcome showed the menu and explained the special on the board. The was a good choice of meals a menu for the 60+ that were smaller portions ideal for a 94 year old our mother had the fish and chips with garden peas I had the last piece of the pie of the day home made good pieces of meat nice pastry with vegetables and gravy very nice and tasty. Excellent service from from love friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

Nice atmosphere. More restaurant than pub, or so it seemed. Had a family dinner there. Service was very good but food was just about average. Not sure if it was because they had some Christmas parties going on at that time.

Staying in the area and popped in for supper on Monday evening. . .from the moment you walk in the hosts lon after you. All staff encountered were attentive and welcoming. The facilities are faultless, fresh looking great decor and really relaxing. And so to the food. EXCELLENT. Locally sourced tasty and freshly cooked. .

Recommended by our B&B; host and the pub did not disappoint. Food choice was varied and portions plentiful. The scampi dish was particularly good. As were the gourmet burger and lasagne. Friendly staff and atmosphere.

As the Mop Fair was on in Stratford we decided to turn left from the hotel and found this nice Pub restaurant. We were given a warm welcome and had a very nice meal from a home cooked menu. The atmosphere was warm and clean. We were early and had no trouble having a table but reserved signs were around so I think it wise to give a ring before making a special journey. There is outside seating and a decent car park.

We found this pub quite by chance on a wet dark night like an oasis in the desert! We were given a very warm welcome and a hearty hot meal (best pub grub we have ever tasted). The decor and the background music were just to our taste too. We only wish this pub was nearer to our home! 100% recommend you try for yourselves.

A wonderful little Pub right in the heart of Snitterfield, great pub meals presented the way they should be. With a quite friendly staff who are only to willing to assist with menu selections and drink orders.

We met fellow Guide Dog puppy walkers there after exercising our dogs and they made all of us very welcome. We selected from the 'over sixties' menu and opted for the 3 courses at £11.99 and enjoyed every single dish. These included home made pate, mushrooms & prawn cocktail, I had faggots with mash & peas and Lasagne for my wife. Our friend tried the home made fish finger baguette which was basically a small piece of freshly cooked fish in a baguette with a side salad which he thoroughly enjoyed. To summarise great food reasonably priced and pleasant staff.

We took the 'in laws' out for dinner, both in their late 80's, we were able to park very close to the door and there is a ramp into the pub so easy for them to get in. The table was ready and we were served our drinks and the order taken. Three had the prawn cocktail - a huge portion of prawns and salad and one had the Garlic Mushrooms on toast - the two older members of the party were very pleased when the waitress said they could have the 'over sixties' portion of Fish & Chips - we also ordered another full portion of Fish & Chips and a Korma Curry. All were served quickly, the food was hot and very well cooked and nicely presented in a 'Pubby' sort of way, not 'haute cuisine', but very acceptable for the type of pub this is. Clearly, it is very popular, there seemed to be a lot of locals in, always a good sign and the staff were very attentive and polite. The 'in laws' neighbours had recommended the pub and we certainly were not disappointed, it's a great traditional village pub, very well run and serving excellent food

Our first three meal choices were off because they had been busy that lunchtime, The meal was unexceptional and the experience marred by the intrusive,over-loud, screeching and wailing muzak. Very disappointed.

We ate here for 5 nights in a row while staying in a nearby B&B. The food was very good. every night. One night I had the beef and ale pie. It came as a slice not a whole pie but the amount of tender meat in just that slice was loads. It was well packed. Great taste, loved it. Did not have room for pudding on most nights, but the ice cream was very good, not the same usual flavours. Stanley the dog and Shasa the cat very friendly as were all the staff. Go to this pub you will not be disappointed.

it's our village local but there's nothing taken for granted here, the team work hard to ensure everyone keeps coming back. The food served at lunchtime on my last visit was terrific...very tasty, plentiful and fresh...the best fish 'finger' sandwiches tasted.It was a pleasure to take my business colleague there, confident of a warm welcome and great pub food. Oh and you can't forget their annual Snitfest music and beer festival which is terrific.

Had a very good meal here on Friday night, table booked for us by out host at the nearby B&B where we stayed. Comfortably busy with families earlier on with a good atmosphere. Mostly locals in the pub but we were made to feel very welcome and staff were really friendly.

Cool, refreshing pub which has friendly staff, a reasonable menu and some good beers.Has an over 60's menu at keen prices (12-3 I think). Attractive interior which has been decorated with a lot of thought.Small beer garden and adequate parking.

What a lovely place to visit, I went with 5 friends and as we only get chance to meet occasionally there is always a lot to catch up on. The staff never rushed us, they were happy to wait for our food order and allowed us to carry on chatting long after we had eaten. The food from the lunchtime menu was excellent quality for an extremely good price, we all enjoyed our meal. The Snitterfield Arms is a comfortable and homely pub serving good food and a warm welcome.

We stopped at the Snitterfield Arms for a quick lunch and where pleasantly surprised by the quality of this small town pub, very nice and friendly staff and good food too.We tried the steak and the goatcheese salad, both where tasty and well presented, good value too. Outside there is a nice spacy terras with a coverd space as well.if we go back to this region, we shurely go back to that nice pub.

Really good food and beer. Staff are friendly and there's usually a chatty local at the bar. They've decorated the pub tastefully and there's a lovely restaurant area. Regular events are worth looking out for too.

My wife and I ate here a couple of days ago whilst on a short break to Stratford upon Avon. It was a Friday night and we hadn't booked but they managed to fit us in on one of the lounge bar tables. The landlady and her staff were all very friendly and attentive. The draught ale (I had the Sharps Lighthouse) was excellent and the food was nice, especially the Pannecotta pudding which was delicious! The whole place had a lovely feel to it which made for a pleasant and relaxing evening. The toilets were spotlessly clean too. I would definitely go back there again.

I love this place. The family go here regularly and have always had a fantastic meal and service. The land ladies always make you feel really welcome. Try the Stilton and mushroom starter and you will not be disappointed. Always a winner is the steak and ale pie. Lovely. Great pud, superb location and atmosphere.

We have visited here several times - it is often busy so worth booking - but the food is always brilliant and the service is always with a smile. One of the best pubs for miles around and Stratford locals are spoilt for choice so this says a lot!

A lovely venue which is always friendly and welcoming, either for early evening drinks or a meal. Excellent food with a varied menu and good specials board. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and is obviously popular with local people too!

My brother and I decided to take my 88 year old mother out for lunch. She rarely wants to leave the house but we persuaded her to try the pub nearest to her home. I rang to check about disabled access and booked a table for 1.30.We arrived on time and ordered drinks. So far so good. After 10 minutes we gave our food order - just a main course. At this point we were warned that the food might be a bit slower than normal because of a large party - 10 - 12 people near us. I asked how much longer and was told only slightly longer. There were very few other people in the pub so I thought this wouldn't be a problem.We chatted and waited, waited and chatted. My mother started to get restless. We watched the large table have their starters, eat them and then have them cleared away. Still no food. I asked how much longer and was told it would be here soon. We watched the large table have their mains. I asked again - 2 minutes. Seven minutes later - we had now been waiting over an hour - I asked again and was told the fish pie takes a time. Still no food. The waitress serving the large table started fussing over sauces for the large table so I went to her to ask how much longer and said my mother was becoming upset. She said the large table had to be served first because they arrived first. Fair enough for starters but were we really supposed to wait until they had finished their mains? I said that I would have expected our main courses to come some time after the starters for the group and she said no, they were here first. I then said we had been waiting over an hour and I thought that it was too long. This lady then went to one of the group and started moaning about me - totally unprofessional.After 1 1/4 hours the food arrived but the day was ruined. They did not charge us for the drinks but this didn't make our day any better.We then went to the toilet - no light, no switches so had to go back to the bar to ask - my mother can hardly walk and had to stand around whilst I made enquiries.If we ever manage to get my mother out for a meal again it will not be at this pub. If there is a group of twelve but hardly anyone else in there, you will wait for ever. And the waitress is rude although the bar staff are nice enough. However, they don't tell the truth about how long the food will be!

Here on holiday, sat outside on a sunny Saturday lunchtime. Arrived early in order to get a table. Good value menu with typical pub food, delicious and plentiful. Very helpful staff. Superb drinks selection. Will be back.

Recently had a lovely break in Stratford Upon Avon and had both lunch and dinner at this friendly and welcoming pub. The black pudding, creamy mushrooms and pate starters are especially recommended. Go hungry as portions are quite large! Mains equally as good but had no room for puds! Staff very efficient and helpful. Certainly a touch above average pub food.

Snitterfield Arms is a wonderful local Pub/Restaurant located in Snitterfield, nr Stratford upon Avon. Monday to Thursday 12 - 3 they serve a superb three course lunch for £9.95 for the Over 60's the choice is amazing as are the sizes of the portions. From Smoked Salmon & Prawns, Poached Mushrooms, Homemade Soup to Homemade Pies, Lasagnes and lovely vegetarian meals to bread and butter pudding, Apple Pie, Eton Mess to name just a few. If you prefer two courses can be had at a reduced rate.Have been a few times now and cannot fault in anyway from ambience to staff to perfectly cooked food.

This was a recommendation and I was not disappointed. It was fairly busy (mid week lunch) and we only ordered main courses so they took a while to arrive but that was fine. The food was hot, very tasty and good value. Certainly worth a trip back. We did not experience any discomfort because of not being locals.

Visited here for mid-week lunch. Quite full as the special over 60's menu appears to be very popular (including with us). Meals were very good and good value. The home made steak & ale pie was particularly tasty with real steak rather than the usual stewed variety. Would recommend.
