Taste of Italy Pizza Bar in Chelmsford

Decided on visit after seeing it was voted best pizza in UK. A bold claim. Pizza was generally good but have had similar pizzas in many places. Glad we gave it a try but wouldn't necessarily go out of our way to go back.

I had an issue with a delivery order, Peter gave me a free Pizza delivered at a time and date of my choice. Had it tonight and it was delicious. Amazing food and customer service cannot be faulted. Thank you 🙏

I ordered delivery, the food came hot and a reasonable wait time. The pizza was so delicious and flavourful — it had me savouring each bite of my crust. Panna cotta was so deliciously creamy and of such good quality.

Tucked around the back of the bus station this place doesn't look like anything special but have to admit that they do cook a great pizza!

Me and my partner had the bottomless pizza, we had three pizzas to share and did half and half toppings to try more flavours. Amazing taste, great consistency of the dough and crust, lots of options to choose from. Service was also amazing! Everyone was very friendly, including the owners who were very attentive and welcoming, and especially our server Cristina who was wonderful. We will definitely be back to try out more flavours

Absolutely the best pizzeria in UK. The food is stunning! No one can compare with them. Trust me, I'm italian from sicily.. In my 5 years of experience around UK I never found this high quality. Top of the top...high recommended. I will come again, for sure!!! Thank you guys...

I loved my first visit and definitely want to come back again. Hands down the best pizza I've eaten since Pisa. I was glad to be served by someone who speaks Italian, and hopefully, next time I come back, I'll be able to speak better Italian. Grazie mille

Great pizza but sadly on both occassions we have ordered online the food has taken over 2 hours to arrive and our most recent order took over 3 hours. We called the shop and they didn't apologise or want to resolve the situation and kept lying regarding the status of our order.

This is my local pizzeria that I visit at least once a month. This is a genuine Italian restaurant which uses the best ingredients and produce and serve one of the best pizzas in Chelmsford. Dough is always cooked to perfection and topping ratio is fantastic. Staff are always friendly and the level of service is phenomenal. I highly recommend this to anyone whether it’s a takeaway or sitting in.

Another amazing evening at my favourite restaurant. I went for my birthday with a large group of friends. The service was excellent, the pizzas were incredible (as they always are) and the staff really looked after us and made a special effort for my birthday. They gave me a tiramisu birthday cake with candles and sang to me. And the pizzas just kept on coming. Very good value. I’ve been to the top pizzerias all over Italy - Taste of Italy is my favourite and we keep coming back. Thank you as always to Sergio and Lucia and the team. We’ll be back again very soon. Delicious pizza! As two Italians in the UK, we can say this is one of the best pizza we have ever had. If you want an authentic experience, this is the place to go. The staff are so welcoming and so friendly, like Italians are!

It would be hard even in Italy to find a better pizzeria. High quality ingredients coming from Italy, and you can taste the difference. The pizza dough is incredibly light and delicious even by itself without any toppings. The owners and the staff are very friendly. I highly recommend this place if you want to have an Italian experience.

This was our go to pre theatre restaurant - the pizza is fantastic! Unfortunately this place now seems to have a policy of vetting bookings as was the case for my family. We had a large booking in for April and received a phone call from the restaurant enquiring about our party. When they discovered there would be 6 children all of a sudden they started suggesting they were fully booked and doing their best to put us off… needless to say we have taken our business elsewhere where and this place will never receive another penny from us again. Disappointing as we love this restaurant, having supported it from the start and spent thousands in there over the years. Some advice for the owners… hospitality is a very precarious industry at the moment and it would be wise to value every customer…

Sergio and his team Anca and all were super warm. Made you felt welcome. Food was incredible. Their Taste of Italy signature pizza with pesto base instead of tomato base is a revelation. Kudos to the chefs of the restaurant 👍🏼

Best pizzaria in Chelmsford (possibly the world!) I've ordered an olive and anchovy pizza and my husband ordered a 4 cheese pizza. It was simply divine, staff are super lovely and friendly, so welcoming. Their attention to detail is great, greeted with olives on the house and service was quick! What more can you ask for. We ordered a tiramisu at the end, again was perfect! You would not regret it

Love this place, love the food, love the Beer, love the staff, love the Limoncella. The menu is varied to all tastes and never disappoints. Book early as it can get busy. This was our 10th visit and will keep coming back. It's not I warn you a quiet night out.

With the warm welcome from the hosting staff to the classic Italian brassiere decor, one can’t help but feel excited for the meal ahead. However, the charm of the establishment quickly wears off in the 1 hour and 40 minute wait between starters and mains. Myself and my partner were hoping for an enjoyable Valentine’s Day meal out, although were let down by the endless wait for food and total absence of service. Whilst the food that eventually arrived was pleasant, the wait and lack of service from the team muddied our rather long evening meal out.

I have never been to a restaurant where the manager Sergio was as rude as this We returned the chicken as it tasted like rubber. We weren’t asking for a refund but his customer service was disgusting even to the point of making a personal...

Had really high hopes for this restaurant because of the reviews but unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. The service was very slow (took us about an hour to get our food) and the food itself was fairly average. Do have to say that the staff were extremely friendly and the vibe was really good; shame on the food.

Sensational pizzas; we ordered the Tartufella and Tartufata, and they were out of this world! The complimentary limoncello shot at the end was a nice touch; the liquer was so fragrant and refreshing! Will definitely visit again to experience a true taste of Italy 🇮🇹

Best Pizza not just in Chelmsford but in ESSEX

We normally go to another local Italian, but they had no availability so thought we would try here, given it is across the road from the theatre (we'd been to the pantomime). The food was AMAZING! We had pizzas, salads and calzone. My other half loves calzone and said it was the best he'd ever had! I had the tuna salad, nut again it was excellent. The staff are incredibly polite and friendly and were great with the kids too. Complimentary lemoncello when paying the bill. It felt a little bit pricey but we don't eat out too often so thought it was well worth it given how good the food was too. We will definitely come back again.

We walked in without a reservation and we were made to feel extremely welcome. The food was amazing, honestly some of the best olives I’ve tasted and there was a great selection of pizzas, reasonably priced and absolutely delicious! The staff were also really friendly and made it a great experience. I’d definitely recommend a visit!

What a wonderful place with the most delicious pizza I've ever had in England. My husband is Italian and knows good food. The staff and service was wonderful and the food and drinks absolutely delicious. They even surprised my husband with a bowl of ice-cream...

If you have a serious food allergy, I'd avoid this restaurant. After speaking to the owner several times prior to arrival, we felt assured that our son's allergy to Soya and Nuts could be catered for. After all it's a Pizza restaurant, so for once we felt we could relax enough to take our son out to enjoy his favourite food. Sadly the restaurant let itself down with its lack of understanding of basic allergy principles and assuming that a 'May Contain' is of no concern or consequence to its consumer. Fortunately, we asked to look at the packets of flour and ingredients before we ordered. I'm sure it's a great place to eat and the staff were apologetic but anyone who has an allergy, or is looking after someone who has, probably needs to give this place a miss. As a note to the restaurant - you have to take these things more seriously.

Fantastic pizza! , you won't be disappointed. Large menu, with something to please everyone. The parmesan & truffle topped fries are a must. Get them to share as its a generous portion. We were picking up a takeaway, so I can't really comment on service,...

We've been welcome by a verg big smile on the entrance and without any reservation, they found us a table for 2(Sunday affternoon....). The service was great, the waitress(Cristina i guess) help us a lot to decide about what we will eat, she made good recomandation regarding our taste. We decided about a starter and 2 different pizza to be sure that we give them a hard test :) the food was delicious, the italian taste which is hard to find in UK. The beer is imported from Italy so the taste is original till the end. Till we decide to leave thr place was full but we spot that the people didn't wait to much for the order to be taken or thr food to arrive, is great to see places were people really love what they are doing and they work togheter for the same goal. Well done, we'll return for sure 5⭐️⭐️

If you enjoy fabulous high quality Italian food in a buzzy and casual setting, then try Taste of Italy! We had a set 3 course meal for two - arancini and burrata for starters, pistachio and Taste of Italy pizzas for our mains, and a cannoli and an affogato for dessert. Everything was fresh and flavourful, service was quick, cheerful and professional, and we look forward to going again soon and working our way through the whole menu eventually. It was Hubby's birthday, and they popped a candle on his dessert and sang to him. They also offer takeaways. Total five star experience!!

Was excited to finally try the Pizza, after so many great recommendations. And I was not disappointed. I ordered the Diavolo Spicy pizza, my partner had Spicy Salsiccia E Friarella both very very nice!!! The staff are very warm and friendly, customer service was excellent.

Amazing calzone (probably the best I've ever had) and brilliant service, which is hard to come by these days. Totally recommend this restaurant and can't wait to come back. The portion sizes are great and the food is so good. The only reason I gave it a 4 stars for atmosphere was that the decor is lacking, which is fine but I think maybe all the hard surfaces affect the acoustics as it was quite loud even though not totally full and so a bit hard to hear each other.

What a pizza! This restaurant brings the authenticity of proper Neapolitan style pizza to Chelmsford. Everything from the dough to the sauce and toppings was impeccable. We were served by an absolutely lovely waitress who was extremely friendly and kind. The atmosphere was relaxed and not too noisy. On our way out all the staff wished us well and said goodbye. Will certainly be eating here more often :)

The pizza is just like pizza you get in Italy… plus the ingredients actually come from there so yeah… it’s really good as you’d expect. Also the staff are very friendly and attentive.

Amazing! Best pizza we have had in a long time and we’ve eaten a lot of pizza in a lot of places including Italy and the U.S. This is genuine Italian pizza made by genuine Italians who are clearly very passionate about what they do. Great bustling atmosphere and a great selection of pizza and non pizza mains, starters, deserts and drinks. The house red wine was particularly good. Would highly recommend you give this place a try.
