Food was outstanding as always! Huge portions! Absolutely love it, such a cosy/romantic atmosphere for any couples! Been several times and will be back! Staff are soo friendly and helpful, also follow all covid restrictions well! The garlic mushrooms were the best I’ve ever tasted!

Just home from what I can honestly say was the best meal ever. We were recommended this restaurant by friends. I had the carbonara, which was absolutely delicious. Hubby had the combo fajitas and practically licked the plate clean and kids had chicken nuggets. The portion sizes where very generous and brilliant value for money. All the staff were lovely too and interacted with us all which was a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and can't wait for another meal at The Bistro.

I visited the Bistro with my fiancé John for his birthday last night- a lovely treat from his kids. We had a nice table for eight ! The staff were very helpful and attentive. The food is second to none ! Great variety on the menu! A hidden gem in Rutherglen! We will definitely be back!

Recently moved close to this wee hidden gem and decided to visit since was in walking distance. My 2 children are very fussy eaters and both demolished the Spagetti Bolognaise and chicken burger.We each got starters which were 10/10 but did'nt leave much room for main meal so next time I would think twice and just get main meal..Enjoyed so much I have booked again for a family celebration taking place in a few weeks. Food was just incredible.

Went to the bistro for a nice meal and was very happy with the full evening. The food was excellent , I had the southern fried tenders to start , lasagne for my main and Tiramisu to finish. My partner had bbq chicken spring rolls, fillet steak and cheesecake to top it off. The quality of the food was unbelievable , the staff were so friendly and attentive , great service. The cocktails were so tasty to. Great family run restaurant. Can’t wait to book again. I would recommend to call in advance to make your bookings as this place is always busy.

Just ate at the amazing restaurant, staff were lovely and the food was amazing. So pleased we managed to get a table. If we come back to Scotland we defiantly will be coming back.We had the steak that was so tender, prawns and sea bass all were lovely and big portions.

Visited here on a Saturday night after having heard good things and it did not disappoint! The menu if fab, so many options to suit everyone and they also had various specials available. The food was amazing, cannot fault anything. Tasted amazing and the portion size was the same, we were absolutely stuffed! The staff were friendly and tentative, making sure everything was ok and we had everything you need! Highly recommend and can’t wait to visit again and try something else as everything that came out of the kitchen looked amazing!! Also a very nice and relaxing atmosphere given the current circumstances.

Ordered Mac Cheese and it's the best I have ever had! Ordered one of the fresh chefs special banoffee Tart's. Never tried it before but it looked how it tastes it was brilliant. Already booked my table to go back!

First time back for a long time. Starters were loaded potato skins with chili and chicken satay skewers, each a meal in themselves. Mains Tex/Mex chicken with rice and meatloaf with BBQ sauce.Could not think about dinner after a lunch like this, the food was delicious. Only thing my wife would have chosen different was to have gravy rather than BBQ sauce, a minor thought in hindsight.Great to get back, thankfully the service and quality has not changed, still a fantastic place for reasonable priced good food.

I ate in The Bistro for the first time last night. I've lived in the area for years and didn't realise this little gem existed. Food was delicious and so was the wine. Family run business and atmosphere warm and friendly. A pleasure to dine there. Menu had lots of choice and portion sizes very generous. Added bonus of being within walking distance home for me but for those further afield, Rutherglen train station is a 3 min walk.A lovely way to spend a tier 2 Tuesday night with friends.I will definitely be back

Have been hearing about the bistro for years but never actually visited until tonight and I could kick myself for not going sooner! The food was amazing huge size portions! Drinks were superb can’t beat a cheeky cocktail on a Wednesday! Will 100% be back

Wanted to eat local and glad we choose The Bistro, Great service, super friendly staff, food was fantastic. We ordered too much but happy to give us boxes to take home. Will definitely be our local place yo go now. Much better than other restaurants in the area.

The staff could not have been nicer or more attentive. Food was fab and a great choice on the menu. We went as a couple this time but will definitely be back with the kids and extended family in future. A wee jewel in Rutherglen - delighted to have found the Bistro.

4 of us went there for dinner today and it was amazing! I didn't know the area and so looked up this website and found great reviews and went with it. We all had different dishes and each of them were fantastic! Really generous portions without any sacrifice of quality and flavour! I don't live nearby but I will certainly make the trip to eat here again. The staff are lovely too - all one big family. Definitely recommend!

Visited The Bistro on 22 Sept 2020 just before the possible lockdown again and could not have chosen a better place. Food is so tasty, big portion sizes and the desserts were awesome. Staff were very attentative and safe environment. This is a must if we dont get out again in a while I am happy that we ate here. 11 out of 10.

Visited as a couple on a Friday evening . Have visited this small perfectly formed bistro before several times and have never ever been disappointed . Food is high quality presented beautifully. Service is friendly without being obtrusive . All round and a very pleasant experience. Myself and husband often eat out and feel strongly that the bistro Could very easily compete (and win!) with some high end establishments in city centre and west end ! Would highly recommend

I attended Bistro a few months ago for my cousins 40th birthday dinner (just came across the Trip Advisor page, hence the late review) and was very impressed. Despite living just up the road, I had never been before. My cousin and her family, who are regulars, were full of praise for it. One member of family actually stated this is where they'd eaten the best steak they'd ever had. I went for mussels to start which were top notch; generous portion with a lovely white sauce. I can't remember the name of my main course dish (to my annoyance) but it consisted of veal strips covered in baked cheese with spaghetti, and a tomato ragu sauce. Again, the portion size was good and it tasted superb! Due to how filling the food was, and the fact my Dad kept giving me bits of garlic bread (which were really nice too), I had no room for dessert - this is genuinely a first! Although the desserts looked great, and I would love to have one another time. As the restaurant is very small, I'd recommend booking in advance. From other reviews I've read, it may be worth bearing in mind closing times, and not leaving your dinner too late; just to avoid any disappointment. We had the restaurant to ourselves, about 30 odd people, which is obviously the maximum number appropriate; any more people and it would have become overcrowded. The post dinner karaoke was a nice touch as well.Bistro is in a different league from other restaurants in the local area. I hope it continues to thrive, as it can only be a good thing for the community. I'm glad I've discovered it & would definitely like to go back at some stage.

Once again the Bistro pulled out all the stops with the food, customer service and atmosphere!!! It was my Mum’s 70th Birthday and eight of us were there to celebrate this milestone with her. The food was phenomenal and the bill was exceptionally fair, the customer care from Derek, Annette, Diane and the rest of the staff was amazing and helped to make this a very special occasion. Thank you so much guys, we love you to bits

Been coming here since it first opened and have never been disappointed.The food is fantastic and the staff are always friendly and helpful especially Shannon.My husband had Fillet Steak and french fries all cooked to perfection, I enjoyed Steak Pie, the meat was just melt in the mouth, this was followers by a fantastic sticky toffee pudding and cream.The portions are huge so don’t have lunch just save your self for a culinary delight.

Went here a Week ago, with Adult Son, and Daughter, for a spontaneous Lunch. There were tables occupied but when we came we were lucky, because the place quickly filled-up. I had the Minestrone Soup with a Chicken & Mayo Sandwich, served with Coleslaw and some lovely fresh Leaf Greens and Tomato Salad as a garnish on the plate. The others had a Pannini and my Son had a Fish Sandwich. The portions are HUGE! I was full after the Soup, and Coleslaw- Salad which I mixed together on the plate. I took the entire Sandwich home. It was very, very nice indeed, making a Dinner for me that Evening. Prices are extremely reasonable and all the food we ate was delicious and obviously made with great care, and attention to detail. I could LIVE in this great little Rutherglen jewel! I’ll be back and back I’m sure! So cosy and friendly, it’s like you’re having Lunch at your best friend’s home, and they’ve pushed the boat out to make you fed and contented.

12 of us visited today for our Xmas lunch and everyone said the food was delicious, no one had a bad word to say about their meal. The portion sizes for the xmas set menu were huge, so much so that no one was able to manage 3 courses. We will definitely be back, hopefully in January to celebrate one of our teams 40th, thank you for the fab meal and service

Sadly tonight service poor didnt realise closed at 9 only when hit with the bill without asking had my prosecco to drink felt had to rush it and as staff were setting up tables for obviously tomorow should be attentive to customers no matter what poor show

First time in many, many years since I’ve been here, it was fabulous. Fantastic food, lovely ambience and the staff were brilliant. Couldn’t have had a better meal even if I went into town, I’ll definitely be back, the sooner the better.

Visited tonight for my Grans Birthday meal, everyone was very attentive since walking in, we all felt really looked after. The food was also amazing aswell as the portion sizes! As it’s a small premise you got a lovely homely feel in the place & they also gave my gran a free wine for her birthday which we really appreciated! When you visit a restaurant for the first time and it just exceeds all expectations. You are a little reluctant to return in case it somehow lets you down. Well I am so happy to say this is not the case with the Bistro. My second trip this year to the fabulous city of Glasgow and I couldn’t resist going back. The atmosphere, the friendly and very helpful staff are amazing. But the food, well it’s just exceptional. I had to try a different starter from last time and it was superb. Without a doubt I had to have the Balmorral steak with haggis for my main course. If at all possible, better than my first in March, absolutely cooked to perfection. The dessert with an amerreretto was sublime.i loved every minute. Thank You everyone for making my meal out in my favourite city so memorable! First class! God willing, I will be back.

There’s no much more you can say you really need to visit it’s the best best restaurant south side of Glasgow for value for money try for your self will not be disappointed

Went to the Bistro last night and sampled new dishes from the very extensive new Menu. We cannot rate this wee gem of a restaurant any higher than we already have. Who would have thought it possible for them to excel on the already fabulous meals that are placed in front of you with dedication, phenomenal presentation and expertise!?!. We had chicken satay skewers, meat roll and Chicken Katsu curry, all were absolutely exceptional. We felt like nodding donkeys as we were tasting because with each mouthful it was like “oh yeah”. Can’t wait to go back and sample other delicious new meals. There is a Tapas Tuesday option on the menu guess where I’ll be heading on Tuesday lol . Sharing platters on Sunday for the whole family.....it just goes in and on........outside catering too!!! There is no end to the wonderful gastronomical opportunities offered by this diamond restaurant. We love the Bistro and the family who make you feel such a part of it! Service as per usual second to noneX

I ate here twice this week after reading the reviews on here I did wonder if any restaurant could be as good as the reviews stated but this didn’t disappoint I had The braised beef one night and chicken in a delicious mushroom sauce the next both meals were excellent and reasonably staff are very efficient but also very friendly.

Celebrated our Ruby Wedding with over 30 family and friends. I cannot thank the owner and staff enough for an amazing night. The food was first class, the steaks cooked perfectly and everyone delighted with their choices. The service was fantastic, we were all served each course at the same time - no waiting about while others are almost finished. Lots of compliments about our choice of venue, all well deserved. Thank you so much.

Enjoyed a great family evening here last weekend for my sister and brother-in-law's Ruby Wedding celebration. Great food, fantastic portions, lovely staff. Hats off to the chef and staff for getting around 30 starters and then the same number of meals and sides all out on time and without major gaps or waits, all while keeping drinks topped up.I would thoroughly recommend for a meal or a special occasion as I believe you can book it.

This was my third visit to The Bistro & I can honestly say this place is the epitome of a hidden gem. The food has been absolutely delicious each time though be warned, bring your stretchy clothes as the portions are rather generous which is most definetly a good thing here! The homemade pate & fillet steak (perfectly cooked to order) are my personal favourite dishes by far & go VERY well with a glass of red wine. The restaurant is quite small (or "cosy" in estate agent speak) but this only helps ensure that each & every customers experience is nothing but the best. It is a family run establishment & it's obvious how close knit they are which makes for a lovely atmosphere. I'd go so far as to say that the customer service is so good, you are made to feel like one of the family... nothing is too much trouble. The older gent in particular is a right character & is a shining of example of how people make Glasgow! Can't wait to come back.

popped in for a bite to eat before a show in the town hall , you woul literally walk past the place if you did not know about it , for a Wednesday teatime it was very busy , we had a drink and ordered from the varied menu , we decided to skip a starter but the sounded good , i had chicken kiev something ive not had for years and it was the best ive had a genourous breaded chicken breast cooked to perfection oozing with garlic butter, my friend had king prawns in a smoked cheese and brandy sauce again a massive portion , both served with rice veg or chips , as we were in a hurry we did not have a sweet but the people opposite us had and they looked amazing , city centre restaurants should take notice as the food here is top notch well presented great quality and affordable as we were leaving the place was getting busier , i have been advisied if i want to visit always book Brilliant food and service my new fav place

Just back from a lovely family birthday meal. What can I say food was amazing service was fab. Little mishap with a meal but wasn't a problem but they gave us a free drink. Which was greatly appreciated. I got pate as a starter . Omg fab defo homemade. I asked did they do takeaways for them they said no.after we had finished and paid Bill waitress came and gave me a dish of pate to take home. . This was so unexpected. But nowhere else would you get this. Would definitely recommend the bistro. First class service first class food. Thanks again . See you again soonxx

Once again The Bistro gang have not failed to provide a top class meal. A wee change tonight as we tried the Sea Bass with chorizo and tomato with a chive mash....amazing and delicious!!!! I can't say it often enough but if you haven't been to The Bistro then you are missing out on first class cuisine at very affordable prices and the staff are all wonderful.,,,,,first class service We love our regular visits. Myself and my boyfriend came down for a little date night. This has been the 3rd time we have visited the bistro and each time it does not disappoint! The mozzarella sticks are to die for!!! And the pasta al pollo, WOW. From the minute you walk in it’s a welcoming and homily atmosphere. All staff is so kind and the man who Owns it has a heart of gold! Lovely chat and laughs. Honestly would highly highly recommend!

First time trying out the Bistro after having a lot of friends rave about the place for a family dinner. Service was great, lovely friendly staff that put up with us staying until a few minutes before closing. Food was fantastic, portion sizes are huge and great value for money! Doggie Bag was a must. Music was brilliant and created a good atmosphere, couldn't recommend enough.

Went here for lunch with my 2 friends, from the minute we walked in to the minute we left everything was perfect. We ordered from the 2 course set lunch menu which was amazing value for money. 2 courses of freshly cooked food to order at an amazing price. We all ordered different starters, pate, mushroom bruschetta and loaded potato skins all beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Our mains were 2 bourbon chicken and Cajun chicken pasta all beautiful and full of flavour. Portion sizes were amazing and it wasn’t to much trouble to have a wee takeaway box to take home what we couldn’t manage. We decided to share dessert, we ordered cheesecake and apple pie, the cheesecake is the nicest cheesecake I have ever had, and the homemade apple pie was to die for. Can’t recommend this brilliant wee family run restaurant enough

Tried the new pre theatre lunch menu today. Potato skins topped with cheese, spiced Onion and sour cream, mushroom brushetta, bourbon chicken and apple pie. Every course was outstanding. Top class food and staff fantastic.

Was here last night for family meal - an early Mother’s Day celebration & couldn’t fault a thing! Staff lovely, very welcoming & friendly - all starters & 8 main courses bet all expectations & desserts were different class - portions are huge - A must try if u not already been, can see this being a new regular for us!

What a choice, so difficult when everything sounds so fresh and wholesome! From the very first moment you realise this is a serious eaterie! Very pleasant staff who really take their time to welcome you and assure you as you are taken through the fine dining menu! I needed help as I fancied just about every starter and main listed! Being a family run establishment they are so helpful wanting you to enjoy your experience with them! I had a fabulous meal choosing the Balmoral fillet steak with Haggis! It was exceptional, as was my starter and my dessert! I would Highly recommend this classic family run restaurant!

The restaurant is small and the decor is basic, but the food was lovely - the trouble n strife had the soup to start with and the southern fried chicken burger with hand cut chips(lightweight couldn’t finish it). I had the ribs for starters and the beef short rib with garlic mash for my main-couldn’t fault it and the prices were reasonable.

Had the biggest and best breakfast ever it was value for money and well presented. I have visited many times before but this was my first time for breakfast

Me and my partner visited here last night.The Restaraunt itself was cosy, nicely furnished and clean. We were greeted well and the staff were very friendly. I had the mozzarella sticks to start and he had the chicken wings. Delicious starters. For mains I had the Amatriacana pasta with house fries and my partner had the fish and hand cut chips. Can honestly say it was the best amatriacana I've ever had, and I've tried a good few. Partner said his main was lovely and the chips were amazing. For desert we split a sundae and the American waffles, soooo delicious! Food was extremely well presente and full of flavour. The only disappointment was they didn't have any of the ingredients needed to make their cocktails, which I was really keen to try. They could only make a strawberry dacari which I tried and LOVED.

Attending an event in the town hall and found this place online with lots of great reviews. We booked in advance and when we arrived it was not busy. The place is family run and they chatted away to us and was made to feel welcome. We had two courses from the pre theatre menu. The food was amazing. The minute steak was cooked to perfection. We really enjoyed it. Though it was very reasonable priced as well. I highly recommend and will definitely revisit.

My Aunt has her 80th in there and it was a large party of us. Food was just incredible and everyone was raving about it and the staff were amazing handling a big group of us. Can’t wait to visit again

This is the first time we have booked into the bistro for our Christmas Day dinner and we certainly were not disappointed ! We all had a beautiful meal, each course was simply outstanding and absolutely delicious with plenty of variety to choose from. The atmosphere was perfect and the staff could not do enough for our party with their friendly service. It took the stress and hassle out of cooking from home but still provided us with the taste of a home cooked traditional Christmas dinner. We have already booked again for this year.

Absolutely excellent dinner at the Bistro. First visit for me and I would definitely go back. The pate was delicious as was the honey mustard ham. The veg was also beautifully cooked. Big portion sizes so no one went hungry. As a party of 17 there was not one complaint by the end of the meal. Service was excellent and staff were really friendly and accommodating. Plenty of gluten free options, staff were really helpful as our party contained several members who followed a gluten free diet. Overall an excellent evening had by all.

Booked a family Christmas meal here on a recommendation and we were not disappointed. Family run and very welcoming. Don’t be put off by the fact that this wee gem is in between two garages as the food speaks for itself. Words can’t describe how tasty everything was, you have to make a visit and it’s so worth it. My aunt has been raving about this restaurant for years so we booked for 1pm today (19/12/18) for a lunch before Christmas. Staff were lovely on arrival but that is where the positives finish. My husband ordered steak pie from the main menu but when the order got to the kitchen we were told it was not available. I ordered Risotto from the Christmas menu but was also advised that wasn't available. The Christmas menu was on offer at 2 courses for 13.50 and three courses for 14.95. My aunt ordered a gammon main and asked for hand cut chips instead of mash, I ordered the lamb and also asked for hand cut chips. The server came back to tell us there were no hand cut chips but we could have roast potatoes which we were happy to order. When our two meals arrived they both had mash potatoes....we reminded the server that we had asked for roast potatoes so she took the meals back to the kitchen and returned with the meats and veg and said the roast potatoes had been 'put on'. They duly arrived and guess what they were not home cooked but from frozen. We then ordered two desserts...my aunt had only one course at this point and I had two. My husband didn't want a dessert. The order went to the kitchen at 14.15 and a few minutes later the server came back to the table to say we couldn't get desserts as they were closing (the stated closing time is 14:30). My aunt said to the server that she was very disappointed in the meal and felt really bad as she had been raving about the restaurant which is the only reason we were there. The server sent over a gentleman who may be the owner and he apologised but said they were closing so we had to leave. My aunt explained she had only had one course from the two course menu so that was relayed back to the kitchen and they agreedwe could have our deserts but to be honest by that time I was so angry that I just wanted to leave. We asked for the deserts to be put into containers for us to take away only to be told that they had run out of containers. After a bit of discussions they agreed to put the deserts into tin foil. While we were waiting for the take away deserts we were presented with the bill which had no reduction for the inconvenience or the obvious distress caused to my aunt. I have never ever been in a restaurant which takes a desert order then after taking the order to the kitchen tells you that you cannot have the deserts as they were closing....especially as it wasn't at the stated closing time of 2:30. I would not advise anyone to ever go to this restaurant.

Stopped here for lunch, had the Haggis. Really nice, cooked perfectly. Surprisingly filling Staff are very friendly and overall a great service

Wee gem of a place visited with my cousins and had a very relaxing night food and staff amazing . Will definitely be back. Huge portions too.

Christmas party night at The Bistro last night was superb. All 3 courses were outstanding. Fantastic service from friendly staff. DJ and karaoke added to the night. First visit with friends and definately won't be out last. Keep up the great work guys and all the best for Christmas and the new year.

We visited and chose the pre theatre menu as we were going out afterwards. There was a good choice (a la carte has a huge choice of dishes) and we ordered starters and main courses. When the starters came they were HUGE. I could have stopped after that. The mains were also generous and very delicious. A couple of us still managed a dessert. Food is great and plenty of it, service is also very good. Drinks are reasonable, draft lager is well priced although wine is quite expensive. All in all a good option.

Wow!! First time here and we will definitely be back! Steaks were tremendous...never tasted anything as good!!! If you’ve not been it is a must!!!

I visited the Bistro tonight with my family and everyone was thouroughly delighted with the food and service. The portion sizes were amazing and the food was absolutely delicious. The scallopes and fillet steak were both outstanding, better then any other restaurant I’ve been to, this restaurant is a credit to the area.

Really cant fault this place :-) real quality service and real quality food. Great place to visit :-)

Hosts very welcoming and food fabulous

Just visited this little place been trying to get booked for months , well it was well worth the wait, from the greeting as soon as we arrived nothing was to much bother , food from starters to mains all four of us ordered differently and all was good to perfection fresh good wholesome food some off the bigger chains should take note , thank you so mush to all the staff will definitely be back

We went to the bistro tonight as two couples celebrating a 50th birthday. What can I say. We are foodies through and through and we were not disappointed. The food is outstanding, the family running the place are lovely and the portions are generous. The atmosphere in the restaurant is welcoming and friendly and you walk out of the place feeling like you’ve known the family all your life. Do not pass this place by. You will love it!!
