I was out a pleasant morning walk and decided to stop for a bite to eat at the kiosk on Saturday the 27th. After waiting for a good 10 mins to be served. Me and my friends were greeted by possibly the rudest man I have ever had the displeasure of clapping eyes on. My friend ordered an iced latte with sugar, he was told “sugars over on the trolley” in a manner as if how dare you be so stupid not to know this. However, a primary 2 pupil would be able to fathom that sugar doesn’t dissolve in cold water! How can somebody with these barista skills be front of house serving the public. Furthermore, in the interest of time as there was a queue forming behind me I requested the same order as my friend. To which the man behind the counter made a face as if I had just picked a dog turd off the pavement and launched it at his face. To which I responded just cancel the order. How glad am I to have done so as when my friend’s food arrived it looked absolutely appalling. Despite the price list matching that of a Michelin star restaurant in the centre of Mayfair. This place serves a microwave service with a side of cheek and rudeness. In my many years this is the only place I have ever canceled my order on the account of staff attitude. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

First time visit for breakfast. Ordered teo full breakfasts with poached eggs. The egg was hard and not the way a poached egg should be. The bacon was tough, the black pudding, mushrooms, potato scone and toast was good. Excellent coffee. Your poached eggs do need to improve along with the quality of bacon. I actually put the left overs in a napkin to take home for my dogs but left it on the table. Disappointed…

The staff and food are excellent, but………..could the staff be supplied with a casual ‘uniform’ (eg. sweatshirt / polo shirt with a logo) rather than the street clothes they arrive in. A ‘uniform’ would give a more professional look, and allow customers to identify staff easily. Nothing stuffy which could make staff feel uncomfortable, just a basic professional look for the place.

This modest cafe by the pond in Rouken Glen Park used to be an actual boathouse. It now offers simple, homemade food at a reasonable price, with cheerful and friendly service. The decor is not elegant, but it's a great place for a light bite after a walk in the beautiful park.

I’m a regular for coffee and scone, but most of the many and varied customers are there for a late breakfast or lunch, most of which looks very nice. I go there because the coffee and scone suit my needs, but it’s the staff who keep me coming back, they are so genuinely friendly and very customer focused, irrespective of the age, gender, physical ability or anything really - they are good with everything.

We recently had a family get together at the duck pond Rouken Glen Park and decided to have lunch in The Boathouse. There were 7 of us in the party and though the place was really busy it was not long till they found a table for us. Right from the start the staff were more than helpful showing patience as we decided what we were having to eat. Having three kids in our party meant that this took a wee bit longer. The food and drink did not take long to be served up to us and we all enjoyed what we had on our plates. My photo does not do justice to the meal I had, as there is a space on the plate, but there was a bowl of chips on the side and both were first class. The macaroni is among the best I have tasted. Overall and excellent visit, will definitely be popping in on our next visit. 10 out of 10 to both food and staff.

Phoned the restaurant ahead as we had an 83 yr old man out with us. He had not long had a hip operation done and was slowly getting back on his feet. Can we bring a dog in, I asked… no was the reply, ok, can you sit outside undercover I asked, yes, get it as a take away and eat it undercover at the restaurant….. great! As the rain came pouring down we made our way to the restaurant… looked for an outside undercover part…. Nothing there. There was seats and tables outside but not undercover….. went into the restaurant and spoke to a young man, told him I had phoned ahead blah blah! We don’t have undercovered outside… doh! I know that but like I said…. I phoned ahead! Are you sure you phoned here 🧐🧐🧐 eh yes, 100% I did. A lady who had joined the conversation said, nope sorry, we don’t…… I said..yes! You don’t do outside undercover, I get that now… now my problem was…. I phoned ahead, got an elderly an elderly gentleman ready to go out, an elderly gentleman that was so looking forward to going out for lunch, getting some fresh air and chatting to his family. The blank look I got from the staff members was laughable! Not an apology, not a let me find out who took the call, nothing!! Meanwhile the poor gentleman and my husband standing in the pouring rain getting wetter and wetter…… so I stormed out the door, got them into the car, went to Morrison’s and had a good Auld made up sandwich, coffee and a bun to make at home. The time and effort to get this elderly gent ready…. Well , I won’t go into that but I am shocked at the blank looks from the staff….. The staff need to take heed of what the caller is saying and be very clear to the information given out but most of all, let the staff who dealing with the complaint… deal better with customers, don’t look like a deer in a head lamp!!

I approached The Boathouse with my 3 year old, who had spotted the lit up shop front and declared he was hungry. Window was open, condiments outside. A young boy approached the window and we politely interacted. I asked what they sold, if they had anything for a toddler to eat on the go. He explained they weren’t serving food as they were preparing to close, but pointed to the back wall with a small menu. No problem, could I grab a slice of banana loaf for him to eat on the way back to the car? There was no indication of an issue. It was a question not a demand. The boy walked away and a very angry young woman with a long pony tail took over, slammed about behind the counter then rammed a box in my hand and slammed the door in our face. I could not believe it. I called after her twice, asking for a fork but was completely ignored. I have absolutely no doubt she heard me. Anyone could have just told us you were closed. It would not have been an issue. Though I’m not sure it was even 6pm yet. I approached an open shop front and asked if and what I could get. There was no need to treat us like that. I’ve never experienced anything like it… I hope pony tail woman is ok, that kind of aggression towards someone standing with toddler, who has been nothing but polite is quite unnerving. Maybe a few deep calming breaths and a training session in customer service/ expectation management is what’s required. All the best pony tail woman… I hope you find some calm and kindness.

Excellent service and excellent food but I wanted to give a specific shout out to one of the waiters (a young man with short, dark hair - unfortunately I don't know his name). We were visiting for lunch yesterday (17th September) with a 96-year-old friend who has difficulty walking very far. When we got up to leave, the waiter offered us the use of a different exit which meant our friend did not have so far to walk back to our car. I just wanted to thank him for seeing the situation, thinking outside the box and offering a solution which made life easier for our friend. Great to see such a high level of care and attention. Thank you!

We ordered a vegetarian breakfast and were not told that they didn’t have any vegetarian sausages (we were given a lame excuse for not having them). A Friend went here 1 week ago and had the full Veg option. All we got was tomatoes, mushrooms, vegetarian haggis, 2 triangular scones And small piece of sourdough bread (wife got 2 cold small pieces of white bread) the reconstituted scrambled egg was tasteless rubber. Cost was still too expensive £7.75 each (after I explained to waiter that cannot charge same as non-vegetarian option) Totally underwhelming experience. We didn’t finish our food even though we were very hungry. The cafe has gone downhill (not sure if its changed hands)Peppermint tea was ok but expensive. Coffee was fine. They don’t do baked potatoes anymore. For vegetarians it’s terrible options. For meat eaters it’s expensive options. They get people coming As not much option in the park.

The Boathouse, I’d recommend paying the extra 10p for better quality morning rolls. The flour covered mess that I recieved today was honestly horrible. I’m sure customers would be happy to pay an extra 5-10p for better quality. Maybe a little less butter on the roll. Butter should never be the dominant taste in a sandwhich. On the other hand, staff were very pleasant and coffee was nice.

Nice location, friendly staff, young and inexperienced but friendly and try hard, some training would take them up a level and worth the investment. First impression was the menus, which are filthy, you want to wash your hands after holding one! How difficult is it to have wipe clean menus these days? A glance down shows a floor strewn with food, been that way everytime I have visited (3 times now, but that was the last time). Condiments used to be named brands like Heinz tomato sauce, now it's some 'other' sauce served in a small dish. Penny pinching over quality I wonder? Toilets are best not visited, wait till you get home, if you can!Overall its turning into a greasy spoon cafe with Giffnock prices! Pity as it could be very special indeed.

The Boathouse is situated in Rouken Glen Park, beside the pond, which is a very nice setting. It is completely accessible to wheelchair users and people with disabilities. Inside there are a variety of tables and seating and nice art for sale on the walls. We were just there for a tea and a cake, but the staff were very welcoming. We got Menus quickly but service was very poor and I eventually went to the counter, ordered and paid by myself. Only after another 10 minutes did anyone come to take our order, by which time it was on it's way. We had the biggest brownie you can imagine, which was gooey and rich, a very disappointing lemon cake which was dry and had an unleasant aftertaste, a glass of water and an Sprite Ice-cream float that made me feel like a big kid again! The prices are reasonable and the Menu looks nice for lunch, so we will go back for another visit. My only criticism is that the Ladies toilets today were not at all clean or what you would expect. Popped in here for ice-cream for the children (14 & 11) on a rare day where we were all out together on a Saturday. They had a peanut ice-cream on so I asked if they would be kind enough to open a new tub of ice-cream (my daughter who has the allergy only wanted vanilla) and use a separate scoop and was told no. This has never been an issue at any other ice-cream place we’ve been with many in fact offering this before we even had to ask. A simple gesture that helps a child (or adult) with allergies try to maintain some semblance of a normal life. And let’s face it - vanilla isn’t likely to sit on the shelves for long!! Result was a very disappointed girl, so we decided to go into the cafe for a coffee and juice instead. Nice inside and pleasant surroundings although we had to find someone to serve us. We ordered coffees, scones & juice. Took over 25 minutes for them to be served. Biggest issue was the number of screaming children, banging cutlery off tables and parents doing nothing whilst they chatted over empty plates and coffee cups. Whilst I appreciate this cafe is located within a park, it felt like a crèche and several tables were being used by parents who clearly had finished their food/drinks a good while ago and had little control of their little ones. Best to avoid at weekends I’d say if you want a quiet(ish) coffee or meal.

? (Entiendo que son diferentes). cochecitos .

We visited today for lunch. The restaurant was very busy and we had to queue for a few minutes. We didn't mind this but need to point out that there is quite a congested area at the entrance. Prams and buggies are parked and it is difficult for people to queue, for people to leave also seems to cause a bit of a problem. The staff are very friendly and efficient and the food good quality and reasonably priced. It's just a shame about the door area, maybe something that needs to be looked at.

This place has just become our new haunt. We've had lunch and sometimes we just come for an excellent coffee and some carrot cake. Parking is a breeze and if you over do it, take a lap or two around the picturesque lake. Every time we have been we have been welcomed by the super friendly staff. The head honcho is hilarious.

I was caring for an elderly gentleman yesterday, taking him to the beautiful pond at Rouken Glen Park when he took a bad tumble just outside the park gates. Thankfully, he was not badly injured and a lady by the name of Marie, helped me to his feet. He was in shock so she and I took him by the arms to Boaters, telling Leanne the manageress about what had just happened. I ordered two coffees and a scone which arrived promptly and Leanne very sweetly told us that our order was "on the house" . This was a lovely surprise. Thank you Leanne - excellent service!

Staff are lovely and friendly. Nice and quiet if you go early on a Sunday morning. The chat can get a bit loud later on. Portions are a good size and always tasty. I would recommend the pancakes and bacon. If home baking is your thing then this is a good place for that too and their home made raspberry jam is very tangy and yummy. One of the group eats gluten free and they were able to accommodate.

My parents and I visited the boathouse today, Sunday, 3 July 2016. The restaurant was very busy and after a confusion with the staff regarding the tables, 'the front of house gentlemen' was very rude as he charged up to me and in a very cheeky manner to say that we should not be taking this table although a few minutes prior to this another staff member said this was okay. My father suffers from dementia and was in a very confuses state by this point and a customer who was next in line for a table even offered up his table to us but by this point I felt that we had to leave after been embarrassed in front of other guests. I suggest that management should have all the facts before addressing a situation and take a lesson in customer service from their staff as they were all very polite and understanding to my father's needs.

I visit this cafe twice a week usually just for ice cream. Recently the little boy I look after has ventured inside. This is a huge step as my friend has to really feel comfortable about new situations. The staff are fantastic but one young man is amazing and always makes time for my little non verbal friend. Johnnie always remembers my friends name and asks him questions and makes lovely comments. You are an asset to this company a true professional .

Me and my wife stopped here for breakfast , herd some good reviews so thought give this place a wee try, nice set up and nice surrounding area, I had the breakfast and my partner had poached eggs and salmon, both arrived on good time no complaints , however my wife got poached eggs and no salmon ?, waiter took back and rectified this, by this time I had started my breakfast, now this is not the cheapest of breakfast I have had, just under £7 , 2 small link type sausages , 2 rashers of bacon, 1 poached egg, some beans and mushrooms and 1 potato scone, a very small plate indeed , sausages were bog standard average , got one pice of toast as well, asked the waiter for 2 more slices of toast after 10 min he came back with 1, this place is over rated and over priced , a small breakfast for £7?, and poor service, will not be back in a hurry and would not recommend .

This establishment - known locally as Boaters- has quickly become a meeting place for both young mothers with babies and grandparents with young children. Don't let this put you off visiting though as there is a great atmosphere and food is freshly made, quickly served and reasonably priced. Things usually quieten down in mid afternoon when children have to be picked up from school. The breakfasts are a must when visiting Rouken Glen park but coffee and cake excellent too. Just try to time your visit to avoid worst of the crowds.

The Boathouse in Rouken Glen Park has had a varied history, but fortunately it is now an excellent venue for teas, coffees cakes and snacks. It is situated beside the boating pond and was originally the boathouse for the rowing boats which were hired out to the public during the summer months.

I wish I had the name of the young guy who served us because he is an absolute asset to your restaurant. We would all be back just for him!! We visited on Tuesday, April 5th 2016 at around 14:00. He wasn't the dark haired guy, but the other male server. Not the red haired guy with the jeans on who I can assume was the manager. (although all service was great). The guy we are talking about was fantastic with the kids, allowed them to go in to the kitchen & see what ice cream they would like (and snaffle a free biccy). He was friendly, upbeat, helpful & excelled himself with his customer service skills.Give this guy a massive pay-rise, promotion & more!!Also, the food was excellent. Most definitely will be back!

Enjoyed a delicious vegetarian cooked breakfast, also enjoyed a delicious fresh scone but I would highly recommend the fish and chips definitely the best in the local area. One small improvement could be upgrading and maintaining toilets better.Overall I would recommend this gem within the beautiful park.

Visited today after a recommendation from a friend. I was very impressed and thought it was very cosy and had a nice atmosphere. Food was great and reasonably priced. The man who greeted us on arrival was very nice and friendly - in fact most of the staff were. However, I felt service was slow. After finishing our meals we quite fancied desserts but by the time our plates were cleared we decided to go elsewhere. I'm a waitress myself and will always give staff the benefit of the doubt if I can see they are busy or understaffed. However, this wasn't the case and at one point I sat waiting for my plate to be cleared while the waitress actually leaned against the wall staring in to space and two other staff members had a chat. Very annoying. This was the only downside to our visit other than this everything was great and I would definitely return.

We wanted to cheer ourselves up prior to a long "Ryanair" flight so we thought that we would try "The Boat House" rather than risk aircraft food. This cafe/bistro which is located adjacent to the main entrance to Rouken Glen park at Davieland Road enjoys scenic views of the pond- a habitat of swans, ducks and other wild life.Boat House caters more for snacks rather than full meals anyway we arrived at 5pm midweek and being hungry opted for 3 courses Overall, the quality of the mushroom soup was good, the main courses of battered fish & chips & chicken kebabs and salad more than acceptable with well above average ice cream to finish off. Perhaps a slightly wider choice of main courses + option of daily specials would not go amiss but in general, no complaints and service was the model of pleasantness & efficiency together with reasonably priced items.

Actually I've visited this place many times to meet friends just for a quick coffee but as it's the school holidays I thought it might be nice to take my boy out for a spot of lunch and try The Boathouse food. It has an excellent menu with an all day breakfast and lots of choice from a light bite to something a bit more substantial. As parents of teenagers will know, they are always hungry and take some filling. Well The Boathouse managed the challenge exceedingly well. Would highly recommend and is suitable for families with young children. It has an great outdoor area with a beautiful view across the boating pond and is very good value for money.
