Small cafe with a few vegan options.We had lemon drizzle cake ,oat latte's and our daughter had a Oreo milkshake which she loved.The lady who served us was also super friendly .👍

What can I say, friendly jolly service, wide range of milkshakes and in my opinion the best coffee in Alnwick. The cakes are really fresh homemade and moist, with exciting flavours. It's a must if you're in Alnwick and fancy cake and coffee.

Fantastic small cafe, seating inside and out. Very dog friendly. Amazing selection of milkshake flavours, extensive and unusual. Also, full range of coffees, tea and juices. Popped in as it looked nice, ordered takeaway tea, coffees and some delicious cakes. There were so many cute things like mugs and pencils but I purchased a maneki-neko sanitiser bottle. Apparently their speciality is milkshakes, it was so overwhelming with tons of flavours but none of us normally drink them so we didn't order any, plus I'm a bit lactose sensitive - I was able to order oat milk for my tea.

We wanted to try an independent cafe shop as opposed to something like "Greggs". Amazed by the reviews we came in to the Origami cafe and really loved the service and the MILKSHAKES!!! I had the Biscoff. Loved it.

By far it is the best cafe in town with the best cakes! a varied menu with scrumptious cakes and a wide selection of drinks, including chocolate bar milkshakes! Always a lovely and warm service, simply love this place.

I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to the staff at the Origami Cafe who made our visit to Alnwick so very special. The cakes were absolutely amazing and the milkshakes were off the scale delicious but most of all was the care and attention brought to us by the person who served us our food. How gentle and sweet and kind this person was and so attentive to our needs, as if nothing could be enough to them. It's so lovely when you go somewhere and get this level of service - absolutely above and beyond. As if this wasn't enough the Lady who owned the Cafe brought little hand made Origami birds out for each of my grandchildren and a little bag of white chocolate stars, which was so thoughtful of her. It was such a shame that we didn't get to say "Goodbye" and "Thank you" as the Cafe had become quite busy however I highly recommend you go there. It's pretty fab! We love visiting this little cafe every time we staycation near Alnwick with our family (we live in Scotland and they live in England so it’s a good half way point). The owner Judy has a very special little place here. She’s so friendly and welcoming to her customers and always up for a chat. Great cakes and coffee, awesome milkshakes which the kids go mad for (there are dozens of flavours) and loads of pocket money toys and gifts (stationery, pin badges, purses, lip glosses etc) which our daughter and her cousins love. Judy also makes cards and wreaths from origami paper which she sometimes sells. They seem to sell as fast as she makes them so worth grabbing if you see one as they make really original gifts. We were so glad to come back to Alnwick this summer and see the cafe still open as we know how hard it has been for small businesses like this during Covid. Highly recommend - it’s mainly takeaway as there are no tables inside but you can sit outside when the weather is nice. Great to support a lovely small business

We visit Alnwick regularly for staycations with our family and a highlight is always returning to the Origami Cafe. The owner Judy has a really special little place here and is always very welcoming and friendly. She’s brilliant with the kids too, who love chatting to her and looking at the fabulous selection of pocket money bits and pieces like keyrings, badges, rubbers, notepads, pens and the like - all these are really reasonably priced (compared to Edinburgh where we live!) and the kids feel they get loads for the money they’ve saved as most things are between £2-3. Judy also makes lovely cards and wreaths out of Origami (like the one pictured which we got) which make lovely original gifts. They aren’t always in stock as they seem to sell as fast as she makes them so grab one if you see them! The other big attraction (for the kids in particular) is the AMAZING milkshakes. There are dozens of options all made fresh to order and it’s nice seeing which new ones are on the menu each time we visit. The coffee and cakes are consistently good with a small but perfectly formed selection of sweet treats including vegan and gluten free options from what i remember. We were so pleased to see that Judy’s cafe is still here after the uncertainty that Covid has bought many small businesses over the last year. She is a star and deserves to do well. We hope anyone reading this checks the cafe out and enjoys their visit as much as we always do.

We went here looking for coffee and a treat, and boy did we get that and more! Be prepared for an amazing selection of delicious coffees (hot and iced). I grabbed the amaretto iced latte, which was amazing, but I was very tempted by the pistachio - next time! And we also left with a couple slices of cake - a wonderfully moist honey and almond, and the flavourful pistachio and apricot. Aside from the food, the shop was adorable, with fantastic social distancing safety measures in place, very friendly staff, and a lovely little dog who distracted us for some minutes. I highly reccomend a stop by the Origami Cafe if you're in town!

Dessert cafe selling cakes and milkshakes in the town centre. The staff were so kind and on the ball with allergens, knew to use separate equipment, AND voluntarily showed me the ingredients on the back of every single product they used in my drink so I could be completely sure it was safe for me. Such a positive experience and I got an Oreo milkshake out of it!

what a great little cafe in the centre of Alnwick . We went mid afternoon and whilst some popular things had sold out but it didn't really matter because all the handmade cakes are delicious . We sampled thd coconut slice and raspberry franzipan but not wishing to appear greedy we stopped short of trying others but it was a big ask.The lady who owns it and bakes the cakes was really cheerful and helpful , in these difficult times her sheer joy in serving people was infectious . We went here last week for cake and coffee. Lovely cake and fantastic coffee served by the very friendly and hardworking owner.

What an absolute hidden gem of a cafe down a quite street of Alnwick. Providing an array of cakes and drinks this cafe was the perfect pit spot after a busy afternoon of shopping. The cafe has vegan options, which were delicious! I had the almond bake-well cake and a Oreo milkshake. All the milkshakes can be made vegan (providing the base is vegan eg, Oreo or Jammie Dodger). The lady, who I presume was the owner, was so lovely and helpful! Service with a smile really does make the experience so much more enjoyable :)

My self and my partner came here and we couldn’t have had a more pleasant experience, the owner of the shop was friendly and more than happy to have a nice long chat with us which was so refreshing and nice. The coffee provided to my self was really lovely and provided me the energy boost I needed for the day :) The shop owner also has a good knowledge of the area and was able to provide us with some great recommendations on places for us to visit. We plan to visit this shop again as it was such a great place with a pleasant experience. I have already recommended this place to a few people I know.

Been to this particular cafe a few times and we are never let down!The quality of the coffee, is miles better than surrounding shops. Easily the most tasty place to get coffee.The cakes are dangerously good, so deliciously moist and packed with flavour, combined with the coffee it makes the best place to go for a cake break!The owner of the store is always happy, polite and a pleasure to chat with. If you are wanting coffee while in Alnwick the Origami Cafe should be your number one choice.

We visit our favourite cafe yesterday. We were so warmly greeted by Judy and Teddy. Judy drinks menu is amazing we are trying to work our way through the milkshakes but Judy has added a great selection of seasonal lattes!! Wow they are wonderful. Kiki had a slice of Judy's homemade raspberry rose cake, this cake is to die for. All the cakes are homemade by Judy and they are all sumptuous. Judy is always happy cheerfull and always has a kind word . We love the gifts she has and her origami figures she makes for sale and display. Judy's is a dog friendly cafe . My daughter and I have had many milkshakes over the years and are amazed by the variety of flavours. Judy has become a good friend and she has has a lovely bundle of joy in her new puppy Teddy. Merry Christmas Judy and Teddy we love you both and you are worth the 5gold stars and more. Covid safe only 2 persons with masks ON allowed at a time. Origami cafe's and gift shop is well worth a visit,

As someone who delivers customer service training, I can say without contradiction, the service is second to none.The young lady who owns & runs the café single-handedly , is friendly, polite & very professional. The Café has a very warm friendly feeling.As frequent visitors to Alnwick, we discovered the Origami Café, and now won't use any other Café. The food is made and/or baked by the young lady and is always delicious. The reason for our visit was to sample one of the new lattes on her menu. The previous week, we dropped in for a latte - pistachio - when I found out the Christmas pud latte was due. We bought two pieces of cake, ginger & lemon-cardamom, I wish I had the recipe for both. I would highly recommend a visit. We can't wait for the Café to reopen.

I am a regular here and the owner is always warm and welcoming, manages the cafe on her own and has coped under extremely challenging conditions like all small businesses over the last 6 months. She always has a smile, is kind and friendly. The coffee is the best in Alnwick and the cakes are fabulous. Also some cute gifts to buy. It is these kinds of places which are the beating heart of a small town such as Alnwick.

Lush milkshake and lovely owner!

Having visited this cafe today and on numerous occasions both prior and during Covid ,I think the owner of the cafe does a remarkable job,single handedly running this establishment, providing fresh home made cakes daily, with a smile.Before writing this I was more than a little surprised to see a terrible review, can only assume having witnessed some of the deplorable attitudes of a minority of tourists who come to Alnwick in holiday mode, having no empathy or understanding of what it takes to run a cafe in the current situation, and continue to behave as if things are normal. This must be a difficult thing to deal with for all businesses especially when you are by yourself, and I think they do a remarkable job.This is the best cafe in Alnwick by a country mile.

We visited the cafe today however are unable to comment on the drinks which are sold there as we left before ordering. The shop owners attitude was absolutely appalling. As we were visiting Alnwick on holiday my daughter had researched online for somewhere for us to visit to have a milkshake and she was very excited to be going to the cafe. As we entered the cafe we were told that there was only 2 people allowed per household in line with COVID restrictions. To be clear, any rules set regarding COVID are no issue. We fully accept the current situation and adhere to the requests in place by different establishments. The issue here was that we were spoken to like we had ignored the rules however there was no sign to advise what should happen when entering the cafe. As I had 2 children with me I asked if it would be ok for my daughter to stand in the doorway (which was outside) to review the menu to choose what she would like. Upon asking this, the shop owner was very short and like we were an inconvenience, even though we intended on buying 4 milkshakes from her shop. I then asked if the drinks were served in takeaway cups (as we had booked in to Alnwick castle) to which she advised in a short manner that of course they are all served in takeaway cups. I advised that I was merely asking a question to which she advised I was obviously unhappy with the rules and that this was causing tension. I, at no point had advised that the rules were an issue. I appreciate that the current climate is difficult on businesses however an easy solution to this would be to have clear signage advising what families should do and for the staff to actually welcome the customers who are willing to spend money and keep their businesses afloat. From the reviews I have read the milkshakes sound to be good however due to the owners poor attitude we decided to take our business elsewhere. I do not expect to visit somewhere which I will be spending money to be spoken to like a piece of dirt. Working in customer service I was actually disgusted in the way she spoke to myself and family.

Wonderful little shop, definitely recommend. Lovely cake and coffee, and made to feel like friends. Dog really welcomed. So sorry the family who were before us couldn’t accept covid restrictions and had to be mean to the lovely lady who looked after us.

Popped in for a coffee, and I've been going back ever since, for takeaway mostly. Really thoughtful service, care over allergies, and quite the kindest reception in town. Really good coffee, including first-class decaf.

If you're reading this then you have found Alnwick's gem... The Origami Cafe was a wonderful place for us to stop for tea, cake and fruit coolers after a walk around the castle grounds. The Raspberry Rose cake is divine and on a cold day the warm welcome was the best we could have hope for. It's the only place for us now!

You will not find a better place then this, Judy is the sweetest and most kindest person you will meet, she goes out her way to make you the best cake or drink you deserve. Lovely and super friendly atmosphere!! I don’t go anywhere else now because of how welcome and delicious everything is. The little trinkets in the shop are so unique, a lovely way to decorate or feel special with. Just amazing overall:)!!! Definitely recommend to anyone wanting to go to a little cafe in Alnwick.

Bubbly, friendly lady who runs this place. We sat outside at tables she now has set up, on the street, due to lack of space inside, and to be covid compliant. Had a peppermint tea and a wonderful vegan Bakewell tart, hubby had a Bakewell tart and a black coffee, all served on / in disposible plates/ cups, to help with the covid situation. Was very pleasant and, as per our visit 2 years ago, a local lady started talking to us. It's little things like that that make your holiday. Only thought I had after was that, according to government guidelines, even if you are only drinking outside, staff are supposed to ask you for a contact number for track and trace, and this didn't happen.

The whole experience is made by the wonderful lady that runs the cafe. She is the friendliest and kindest person you could hope to meet. She will do everything she can for you. People are welcome to sit outside and she will bring orders to you. If that isn’t enough the drinks and cakes she makes are the best in Northumberland. She is also a true artist with origami. This is a favourite amongst the locals.

fine food, good coffee reasonably priced, delightful young owner who obviously enjoys working with people. This is a tiny place which is mostly a take out service at the moment ( nice seating area outside) As this is such a small, ancient building there is unfortunately no disabled access as has been pointed out by a previous (very unfair) review, but you can just tap on the window and you will get table/door service! that is what the locals do!

Popped into this cute little shop as we wandered through Alnwick. Our daughter loved browsing all the little gifts and we picked up a cheese scone and pistachio & orange cake for takeaway. They were both delicious! There were seats outside if required. We will be back for cake!
