We came across Robin's Nest by chance and were greeted in a warm friendly manner. I am on a Dairy Free Diet and the menu catered for all my needs. When we ordered coffee we were given an alternative choice of milks. The cakes were home made and delicious. I would highly. recommend this tea room

Perfect little tea room. Exactly what you would wish a tea room to be like. The food was lovely. Fresh sandwiches. Generous fillings. Really satisfying portion sizes. I had banana and cinnamon toastie. Delicious. We were so happy with our lunch we ordered takeaway sandwiches to take with us on our long journey home to the Midlands.

The years of experience amassed by the staff here are amply born out by the quality of their food. Everything looked tempting, but we went for the scones. These were absolutely superb, and all the better for being served not only with clotted cream, but also fabulous home made jam. Good tea, too. Well worth a stop if you're passing through -just a couple of minutes off the main road, opposite the turn off to the station.

We visited three times at differing times of the day and week to visit and couldn't get seated which was really frustrating. Totally appreciate it's popular but I kind of felt like I was being ushered out the second I set foot in the place which felt awkward in front of everyone. Think it could be better managed in leaving maybe a sign out the front so that people know if it's fully booked. It wasn't clear how to reserve a table here (as some of them clearly were) and there wasn't any option or suggestion on how to order cake to takeaway which would have satisfied our tastebuds too! Very limited opening hours - 10-4.30pm on only 4 days a week in the height of Summer.

On a drive around the area my hubby had suggested that this might be a nice little place to stop for lunch so we did. They had a couple of free tables outside so we sat down and my hubby and son had the homemade cream of vegetable soup and I had a tuna toastie. Everything was delicious and the staff were so friendly. It is just off the main road to and from Oban so don't pass it bye if you have the time to stop.

On our way from Oban to Glasgow Airport and needed a quick coffee, Google map helpfully pointed out nearby coffee shops and so we made a stop here with hardly any expectation. We were very pleasantly surprised as we stepped into this quaint and homey cafe, freshly baked goods on a welcoming display. Couldn't resist ordering two scones with clotted cream and jam to take away. I was even asked what jam I wanted! Back in the car, we were so delighted when we uncovered the aluminium foil covered plate to see four halved scones generously slathered with clotted cream and strawberry jam. They were simply divine, the best we've had, and we've had our fair share of scones! One of the memorable highlights of our 10-day trip.

Was really looking forward to grabbing some lunch and cake here, since I'm a coeliac and they seem to offer lots of gluten free options, but unfortunately on the day we visited (Saturday) there was a new sign on the door stating that the cafe is now closed until 8th July. Really disappointed as we had checked the day before to ensure it would be open and had planned our day around it, and there was no indication that it would be closed. Now we're stuck for what to do for lunch which is not an easy situation to be in as a coeliac! We weren't the only disappointed customers either, as there were others outside inspecting the sign.

Arrived at this idyllic location at just shy of five hours from the North East to sample some cave exploration, hike and outdoor swim; picked up some organic Tempranillo and cheeses from Inveraray on the way in via Arrochar and chilled out on the Friday evening to absorb the phenomenal air and surrounding trees. A place called Airds Point just nearby is an amazing location, overlooking Loch Etive. We visited the local post-office for a cash machine and a newspaper and over to the grocery store for a couple of items including fruit, vegetables and bread. At just two miles down the road this was both super-convenient and, as with Loch Awe caravan park, very welcoming. We also found the shop at the caravan location very useful, as well as having a fuelling station on site. Provided with a choice between expensive midgie-spray and the much less expensive wipes at one pound per pack, we opted for the latter and received no bites throughout the full trip – although we did arrive early June. We noticed throughout the drive that areas of dense wood and marshland were far heavier populated and would have affected the trip.Saturday we lay in and then drove back into the village to visit The Robin’s Nest eatery for coffee and superb Hummingbird Cake. This wonderful wee establishment also serves homemade soups and other items and the staff are great. We took off from here along a beautiful stretch of road toward Barcaldine (The Black) Castle, a 17th century tower house build, once occupied by a family friend, Campbell Godley, in the 1980’s-90’s. This has undergone a fantastic overhaul and refurbishment of truly high quality but has maintained its traditional interiors, including a fantastic dining area, secret passageways and superb art work and design. We drove from here down the coast to Oban, initially choosing a right turn away from the town centre and finding a classic wee beach with clear water and almost white sands. From our sun-drenched spot we were able to munch on the contents of our cool-box whilst filming a thunder and lightning storm moving North and, thankfully, away from where we were both located and heading. We picked up a couple of charity shop CD’s for the car: Duran Duran and Red Hot Chili Peppers for less than two pounds, to accompany the road-trip from Oban down to a truly magnificent volcanic peninsula at Easdale, South of Seil, less than an hour from our caravan HQ and a most intriguing drive where cutting back-over through a place called Strontoiller – you will be awestruck by the timidity and majesty of the Highland Cows if you venture along this route. The evening we spent back at Loch Awe, tuning into Channel 736 Late Night with Stu Elmore, accessible via the TV radio: Prince, Keen Annie Lennox, Bruce Springsteen – perfect. Sunday we prepared fresh-bought local eggs with feta cheese, plum tomatoes and buttered toast and packed up to head off through the Pass of Glencoe, a location we self-named ‘The Hundred Island Bend’ and on down through Tyndrum and Crianlarich via a stop-off at the ski-lodge cafe. We took an opportunity and parked the car up between the mountain pass just before this location, taking off with very little attire to experience a few kilometres running in the most fantastic air imaginable. By sunset we were sat on a very secluded beach at North Berwick – a three-pound entry via a tough-to-locate-but-worth-it road – before returning via castle-adorned highway back to the homeland. Life’s adventure is where we create and allow it to be, we concluded, with Nature providing the rest. A future visit would perhaps include kayaking and a venture further north toward Skye.

We called in at the Robin’s Nest for a rest and refreshment stop when heading north to Inverness. Located just off the main A85 in the centre of the village this lovely tea room has long been a favourite of the locals and serves as the social heart of the village. It is many years since I was introduced to the Robin’s nest by parents who lived in the village and regarded it as the place to go after collecting their pension, coming out of church or just simply being in the village. The tea room is quite small but is bright, homely and spotlessly clean. The staff are local and on most days the owner is on the premises ensuring all is in order. We were welcomed and once we found a table our order for tea and cake quickly takenThere is a large range of home baked goodies on offer and well worth sampling. We have been to this tea room on several occasions now and make a point of going there whenever we are in the area. The cakes here are simply delicious and the difficulty is in making a decision on what to have. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this establishment.

A trip to this part of the world is not complete without (several) stops at this wonderful eating place. The food, including the very moreish, cakes and scones are all made freshly on the premises. The soups are delicious and original. Would highly recommend but would go on a diet beforehand. The owner and staff are also very friendly and will happily help with dietary requirements. Do not miss this treat.

We met friends here while staying in Taynuilt it was recommended to us by the very helpful man in the butchers (who also sold us gorgeous lorne sausage) , it is very small and cramped but plesant none the less, we struggled to order a meal but settled for sandwiches ( with salad for which you pay extra ) and some rather bizarre cinnamon scones. I'm not sure if we will ever return ...

Whilst waiting for the Loch Etive cruise we decided to try these lovely tea rooms. What a treat! We had the home made lentil soup, which was delicious and we also tried the dumpling loaf and date slice. Both were tasty, home baking at its best. The waitress was friendly but not fussy and we left satisfied and glad our cruise had been delayed!

Fantastic little cafe, Very friendly and helpful ladies, home baking and lovely fresh sandwiches to eat in or take-away. We were staying nearby and called in each morning to buy our fresh sandwiches to take out for lunch later, lovely bread with your choice of fillings from the menu. The sandwiches are nicely wrapped on a paper plate too, nice touch. Most of all, the ladies are very welcoming, be sure to drop in or you will miss a little gem.

We found this little tearoom in Taynuilt which served home made soup and delicious home baking. The ladies who work here are very friendly and helpful, they squeezed us in for a light lunch although they were very busy and expecting several locals to arrive for lunch straight after attending Sunday service. What a delight to eat good Scottish soup and delicious home baking - I expect the ladies who run it are all prize winners in the local rural!!

I was so excited to eat here after planning our trip from the US to Scotland, I knew I wanted to visit the Robin's Nest! It was just as I hoped! I had the spiced sweet potato soup and a toasted cheese sandwich. The soup was absolutely delicious! It came with fresh bread and butter and I was in love with this soup from the first bite. The toasted cheese sandwich was an incredibly delicious sandwich. The cheese wasn't too sharp but had a bit of a bite to it. It was lovely. The staff was friendly and warm. I felt right at home and very welcome. I'm so glad I made it to the Robin's Nest! It's well worth the stop!!

Home baking to die for. Sample their treacle scone with butter and homemade raspberry jam which goes nicely with their hot chocolate topped with marshmallows. Mmmmmm! The staff of local ladies are genuinely interested in their customers which makes a change from the usual "no eye contact but I'll take your money, thank you".Please make a special trip especially after a visit to Bonawe Historic Furnace Ironworks.

Whilst staying in Taynuilt on holiday, the owners of our cottage had recommended that we visit the tea shop. We didn't get chance until our last day, so we popped in to grab some goodies just before closing time to take away. The choice was limited due to the time, so we just had some scones with jam and cream and took them back to the cottage. They were a good size and very tasty. The place was still very busy just before closing time so looked to be very popular. Based on this limited experience we would definitely recommend the place to others.

We visited here on a cycling holiday and found the cake to be superb - fresh, home made and delicious. They also do freshly made sandwiches that you can take away so we got those for our lunch as we were on a cycling holiday. They were delicious too. Highly recommended (and a busy wee place).

On a trip up to Oban, stopped here for lunch. So glad we did. What a varied, exciting menu! The soup was fab! Tomato soup with a twist with lemongrass and coconut and freshly made bread. However so full after ,i had no room to sample the beautiful cakes and scones. Another excuse to return. My husband had a brownie and said it was chocolate bliss. The staff were very friendly and welcoming . My only small negative comment would be the small tearoom is lacking a bit in character, but that's only my opinion. At the end of the day,we're here for the food .Very small,so get there early!

The Robin's Nest is well named in that it is a petite venue to meet in for a lunch-time or coffee-time treat and given the high standard of homemade cooking and baking, a booking is recommendable. There is a good selection of foods and drinks to choose from, which makes the idea of subsequent visits a very appealing one! The staff who served at my table were very pleasant and efficient. The toilets are accessible and general cleanliness is evident throughout this tearoom.

My wife and I visited this cafe for coffee and cake and were delighted to find that the standard was excellent. The place itself is very clean, with a lovely warm atmosphere and attentive staff. The coffee was delicious and the cakes were home made and fantastic. I had gingerbread with butter and my wife had fresh cream meringue. It's just as well we don't live near Robins Nest or I'm sure we would be piling on the pounds!
