A rare find , real homemade food, even the chips , steak n ale pie , homemade pastry, like times gone by ! Cannot recommend enough , being a foody is not all fashion n trend , home cooking at its best and lovely people who cook, wait and please 11/10

The staff were very friendly and the food was great.

Cannot believe there is any bad review of this place. We are regulars and it really is the jewel in the crown of Neath. The food has always been fantastic, home cooked and just fab. As for another reviewer saying it's overpriced, that is hilarious, it's the cheapest place we know. If however your preference is fancy menus and modern decor, this is not the place for you. Canteen style food of the highest order we like to describe it and we have loved it for years and Colin and the staff are always polite and lovely. As they say these days, those that know, know. P.s the cheese cakes are up there with the best and to die for.one between two is plenty. Come to neath, enjoy the round house. But don't come too often or there'll be no place left for us! Positives first. The building is interestingly shaped and the waiting staff are quiet but friendly. Ok, so on to the negatives. On entering the premises my partner and I took a seat, admiring the unusual shape. We weren’t greeted, until we stood up and had to ask where the menus were. We were told that the menu was on a black board, bare in mind this black board was a4 and spread across three dotted in three different places. All of which directly next to other tables, meaning when we were looking at the menu we had to stare directly toward two customers eating at their table, which visibly made them uncomfortable. We sat down, only to wait and ask how to get served. Moments later they served us at the table. We ordered 2 meals (mushroom chicken chips and peas) a flat white and a tea. Whilst waiting for our food we noticed there was no music, only the intense sound of a fan and air conditioner. (The fan was plugged into a high up wall in the centre of the room…it was a cold day) we also noticed old electrical buttons next to us which looked like a fuse box. The lamps on the wall were one off one on. Four fridges with all the milk, produce and other items (normally kept in the kitchen) we’re all in the centre of the cafe on display. We put some music on our phone (frank sinatra) just to drown out the fan noise. Eventually when the food came it was essentially a plateful of chips with 4 pieces of small chicken in a creamy sauce and around 3 mushrooms thinly cut. The flat white tasted like instant machine made and not a flat white and the packets of salt and pepper were damp. Finally when we escaped the nightmare we didn’t know where to pay! The food cost us £18 A building with so much potential but lost to a characterless, unimaginative, overpriced depressive atmosphere.

Lovely food, absolute bargain prices for fantastic home cooked food. £6.50 a meal, friendly staff. Hidden gem that needs more publicity.

The place gives out a air of cam,in a frantic world.the food is like my mother used to make. Present staff make a enjoyable stay.

This place is just on the edge of Morrisons car park next to Neath Castle. Don't get too excited about the castle, there's not much of it left. The coffee and teacake was excellent and they also do a good range of cakes and cheesecakes together with a good savoury menu. The place looks small from the outside but opens up Tardis-like once you get inside. It seats 30+. Staff all pleasant and helpful. Car parking in Morrisons will only cost you £1 which is refundable if you spend (I think) £7.

Have visited here twice first time wonderful service and fab food this time again fab service and fab food but one member of staff was so rude to us my dad is elderly and suffers with his nerves he tried to talk to her and was totally brushed off like he was wasting her time I was appalled at her disgusting lack of customer service whether you know us or not we are still paying customers and deserve to be treated with respect such a shame as everyone else was lovely and the food was fab but will not be returning

Parking nearby in Morrisons car park £1.00 for 2 hours, excellent service very friendly,Homemade food at suprisenly good prices.Fully recommend for Breakfast,Lunch or coffee and cake.

Home cooked tasty inexpensive food , very busy around lunchtime ,waited a long time to be served but will give it another go on next visit to Neath as the food was good

It is a lovely restaurant next to Neath Castle. Small and cosy. We ate steak with vegetables for 6 pounds. They also offer refillable coffee.

Had an excellent lunch, fantastic hosting and the food was fresh and homemade. Excellent! Definitely come again! Yummy!

My friend and I go there every week and the food is awesome and all freshly cooked .the desserts are all home made and delicious.i wouldn't go anywhere else to eat.

Everything is cooked fresh from scratch. Takes a while longer to get served obviously because of that. But worth the wait. Very reasonable prices too. Lovely!

We had a warm welcome and a delicious meal here today. All fresh and homemade. The chips were ‘proper’ home made chips, not frozen 👍🏼. Very reasonable at £6 main meal and £3.50 per dessert. Will definitely visit again.

We have eaten at the Round House in Neath many times. It is a cosy family run cafe serving a varied menu cooked to order and very generous servings.

The homemade food here is outstanding as is the friendly service and cozy atmosphere a firm favourite of mine and im sure if you try it yours too!

This place is a little dated, however the I was pleasantly surprised to have some really tasty food. Friendly service and very accommodating to children. Will visit again.

I've previously visited this place for main meals and it was fantastic, But when I went there for breakfast with my husband the cooked breakfast was terrible, awful tinned mushrooms no black pudding and food floating in tomato juice like a soup, woman serving at first was quite rude, then a gentleman served us and he was better, we never complained because we didn't want to spoil our morning but to top it off while paying they tried to over charge us 😕 really not happy and will never go back !!

A small house next to Neath castle. The service is so kind and the room has a traditional decoration. All was delicious, specially beef in red wine. It's a perfect place to relax and enjoy with good food.

Good tasty food, well presented, good portion sizes and very reasonably priced. The staff were courteous and friendly. The cafe is very clean and on our way out it we noticed it had a score 5/5 for food hygiene.

What a fantastic place this is, the gentleman that served us was very friendly, food was fantastic all homemade beautiful thick cut ham and wonderful chips to die for 😀 and great value.

The best chips which you can select to be chunky or thin cut. Seasonal home grown ingredients. Really good if you are on a diet as they cater for you as an individual . Good prices and great with kid's.

Best home made savoury tarts complemented by a fresh salad and home made coleslaw and chutney. Very reasonable too.

My wife and I ate here for lunch. The service was OK, but our meals were frozen and microwaved. We haven't been back !

Had my elderly uncles birthday tea here. The sandwiches and cakes were first class..as was the tea. Highly recommended.

One of my favourite places to eat in Neath with stunning home-made vegetarian tarts with proper chips! Plenty of choice for meat eaters, too. Mair and her team will cater for all tastes. Give it a try!

Este es un pequeño negocio familiar, que sirve comidas tradicionales a un precio razonable (5 libras). Soy vegetariano y el dueño hizo lo imposible para mí hacer algo especial. El servicio es excelente, todo está limpio - cualquier minuto ahora estaremos sentados con tarta de manzana y crema pastelera - fantástico. Altamente recomendado.

Ha significado de repente a este encantador café/restaurante en el corazón de Neath en algún tiempo, pero finalmente conseguido la semana pasada y chico, qué descubrimiento.

Llamado en para el té de la tarde, pero en vicios los mini Welsh pasteles mejor cheesecake y cálidos que se puede encontrar en ningún otro sitio. No te pierdas esta joya si estás cerca del castillo ...

Here isn't just a cafe it's a warm friendly spot to have a chat and a catch up. Lovely milky coffee here. A few weeks ago I attended a art exhibition which looked wonderful in this quaint cafe

WOW.. was taken here for a lunch as I really wanted a home cooked meal with veggies after eating holiday meals for a week.Well I ordered the Turkey Dinner...lots of turkey, fresh veg and gravy... so tasty!! I looked around and it was clearly obvious that people were enjoying all that the menu had to offer.Fantastic and well worth the visit.

What a lovely vanue, and great service. I thoroughly recommend this and was treated to a delightful breakfast !

Good, Home Made lunch. Nice staff, reasonable price. The building is interesting BUT it is easily missed. Needs a little more advertising outside, although this may detract from the attraction.

Having eaten here on quite a few more occasions I don't feel that I can leave my feedback below without correction. This is unfortunate as the lady running this seems really nice.I have had a couple of meals where the food has been bad, (i.e. in the process of going off).Roast beef shouldn't taste 'cheesy'.Potatoes shouldn't taste 'cheesy'.They have a large chilled glass cabinet where they display all the 'fresh' food they have, (some is in freezers presumably). They have a wide selection of savoury & sweet pies / tarts, all manner of cooked meats, etc. but don't have massive trade. The consequence seems to be that they buy and cook joints which are too large & too many veggies and keep these hanging around chilled until they sell them, (which seems to be well after the date when they should have been thrown). I'm guessing this haphazard storage is why they only score 2 on the food hygiene rating system.I've had really good food here and rotten food. I'm scoring low on value as it's a false economy if you leave a meal or take it out to feed it to the dog.It's a shame as I thought I'd found a gem but it suffers from the same as most food outlets in West Glam - inconsistency.

We often eat at the Round House and have always had excellent food served by friendly, helpful staff. The food is home made, especially delicious golden chips. Always home made desserts on offer. For quality and value it cannot be beaten.

The roundhouse has an excellent reputation for warm friendly service and home cooking that is comforting and feeds the soul.... made with locally sourced ingredients, they don't only serve to please but go that extra mile... Its places like this that will put Neath on the map, for quality and value for money.Will definitely return again and again...

This is a really quirky little Cafe. It stands right next to the ruins of Neath Castle and has been designed to look like a round stone tower so as not to seem incongruous.The atmosphere & furniture is a bit dated.The staff are always pleasant, friendly and can't do enough for you.The food is always good 'home-cooked' fayre.The owner can actually cook, (this isn't always the case in this neck of the woods!)Some of the best gravy you'll get in a cafe, (ask for a gravy boat).Their prices are really keen.Everything from cooked breakfasts, cooked lunches, fish & chips, pasta, a range of home-cooked pies, etc.

Friends and I went there for a snack-would recommend. We had warm Bara Brith + butter which was super-I do not like mixed peel but eat it as it was home made-just me being fussy and coffee and had top-ups of that Excellent value for money.
