The Ship restaurant in Scottish Borders

We ate here after looking at fabulous reviews sadly my fish was overcooked,inedible however the waiter noticed this and removed it from the bill. Hence 4 star review my husband's meal was very good. By the way he had fish too. We would gladly return.

The restaurant was very busy but we had booked. Service was speedy and the staff were all kept busy. I had mussels as a starter followed by a very nice Salmon, king prawn and sweet potato Panang curry. Just the right amount of spice to taste all the ingredients. We will certainly be back.

Nice place food and drink reasonably priced

A Very nice welcoming establishment,went in on Saturday afternoon when doing a walk with 17 other people made to feel at home straight away ,many thanks ,food looked excellent but did not have time to order anything, we did have some drinks tho, well done to the staff in this establishment .

Lovely food and excellent service

We are regulars at The Ship, attracted by the atmosphere and quality of the food. A constantly changing and evolving menu means that there is always something new to try, with the 'old favourites' always available when comfort food is required. The 'Specials Board' is always a delight and the 'Popcorn Shrimp' starter is sublime! Chef patron is a genuine food enthusiast and always eager to have a chat about/ critique of his new dishes. All in all, unbeatable, which is why it remains our favourite local 'go to'.

Outstanding service, amount of food and exceptional quality too. If we lived nearer we would DEFINITELY return. Steak pie was perfect - the staff are hard working and friendly. The local RNLI was eating here too - if they eat here then that shows how brilliant it is.

When we went we had our dog and he was welcome in the bar area while we ate. The menu was fairly varied. We both had the steak pie, mine with potatoes instead of chips. Food was good, well presented. Special mention for the wee apple dumplings for desert. Yum.

Food was fantastic. Mac n Cheese is unique and incredible. Staff were all friendly and professional. Asked for menu adaptations which were accommodated without issue. Great venue and excellent experience all round.

We’ve just had a meal at The Ship and it was nothing short of fabulous! (2 adults and 3 children) Food was excellent, served very quickly, great quality and so reasonably priced. The staff were very helpful and polite and the restaurant is beautifully presented… make sure you take your phone with you to the toilet…. Total amazing photo opportunity! Won’t ruin the surprise!! 😀 Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a great reasonably priced meal! Certainly family friendly! Thank you so much! We will be returning!

We came on Wednesday when they offered two pies for £20. We both had steak pie, fish pie was also available. As it was a special offer I lowered expectations but this was a mistake. The pie had poppy seeds in the pastry lid which were extremely delicious. The pie had a bottom as well as a top. The meat was plentiful and succulent. The chips were delicious and there was a lovely selection of vegetables none of which were overcooked. They were piping hot but still had good bite to them, as it should be. The portion was extremely generous. I was glad that I didn't have a starter and there was no room for dessert. The member of staff was rushed of her feet but still very attentive. I feel bad as I didn't state that I wanted to leave a tip before our transaction went through. I will be returning with a double tip as everything about our experience was tip top. It didn't do any harm that they were serving my favourite beer. Jarl by Fyne Ales. I can't wait to come back!

We went for OAP Christmas lunch 3 courses for £10 it was amazing and well worth it, we would not hesitate in recommending The Ship in Eyemouth.

The place needs to do a crash course on disability and the law around it I was completely refused in as I had my working dog with me Also when I turn up she was not allow in the restaurant only in the dog area will never return

Superb food, service and a lovely fire to sit in front of. The mushroom risotto and the mussels were truly world class. Lovely service and relaxed atmosphere Highly recommended.

Fantastic Fish and Chips and staff are very friendly

This is a nice homely pub with good food. We have eaten here approximately 6 times now in the last couple of months and have enjoyed each visit. However on our last visit, my wife had fish, which was nice except the batter on this occasion was a little under cooked but this is not typical. I would like to see cod appear on the menu as haddock in my opinion is not as nice as cod. Overall worth a visit.

Starter was lovely but my main(steak) was cold, I'd even say chilled, my partner had the same and his was hot, bit disappointing as presentation, service etc was lovely, if it wasn't for that we'd definitely be back

Brought my family and in-laws for dinner and we all ordered from the Christmas menu. The trio of soups with home baked rolls was flavoursome and a fantastic starter to the meal. We all ordered the turkey dinner and we were definitely not disappointed. The portion sizes were spot on with nice thick slices of roast turkey. The star of the show for me though were the sides. The creamed sprouts and dauphinoise potatoes were out of this world and I would love the recipe for my own Xmas dinner. Definitely a place I would recommend visiting if you’re in the area.

Always a pleasure to eat here. Super supportive of my allergy. Food superbly cooked, fresh and tasty.

We went for an early dinner, I had the steak pie which was superb, tasty and just the right amount for a main meal. My son had Mac n Cheese which he said was one of the best he has ever had and everyone loved the chips whether it was the chunky ones or fries. Service was quick, although it was quiet when we arrived it did become busier and the prices are a little higher than other places in the area, but in our opinion well worth the money. When we are back in the area this will be the first port of call for dinner. Highly recommend.

Lovely little place overlooking the water. Food was hot and delicious. I had the fish and chips (real chips!) and my husband had the macaroni cheese - honestly never tried macaroni that good! Friendly staff and service was excellent. Highly recommended.

Had a really gorgeous lunch here with my wife and young boy. We had crab toast, mussels, fish and chips and a kids meal and drinks. Everything was fresh and delicious. The staff were really friendly and helpful with fast and efficient service. It's got a nice vibe inside. Cosy and modern without anything over the top. Great spot and we'd really recommend it.

Went for lunch to The Ship. I had Eyemouth crab on toast and mussels (no cream, no garlic as requested). Hubby had king prawn Marie Rose followed by steak sandwich. Everything was excellent. Also had a couple of gin and tonics and glasses of wine. Although it was busy our server Sara was a delight and very very efficient. Excellent value for money. Pay & Display parking in front. Would recommend.

Fantastic dinner! Had haggis bon bond and prawn cocktail to start, both fantastic- prawn cocktail very generous portion, best I’ve ever had! Mains- Thai curry and steak pie, the steak pie also the best I’ve ever had, so much steak, very generous portions! The curry was lovely, great chunks of tasty cod. Deserts very good, creme brûlée and cheesecake. Service good, food fantastic. Would definitely recommend visiting, we will be back! Drinks very reasonable priced too!

Visited twice over the weekend both times in large groups without booking staff were excellent finding seats ,service was excellent, staff were attentive and friendly and extremely busy ,food was superb all fresh and well cooked a great place to eat and socialise .

Delicious food, almost homely but with attitude. Staff, phenomenally, busy but delightful and caring. Comfortable and obviously used by locals (a great sign) and visitors alike.

We stopped off here for dinner. The Ship is in a beautiful location by the harbour. We received a lovely welcome from the staff. We hadn’t made a booking but the waiter found us a table. The food was really good. My husband had Mac n Cheese off the specials board and I had the fish finger butty and fries (Thank you so much for letting me have a meal off the kids menu) with roulade and lemon cheese cake for dessert. All was so tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Now we have found this place we shall definitely make it our stop off place for food when we next visit Scotland.

Absolutely fabulous food our 2nd time here and when we come back to eyemouth I'm may 2024 will definatly be visiting again, all staff proffessional and friendly and make you feel very welcome.

We have been 3 times and never been less than wowed by the food here. The menu isn`t extensive, most places have smaller menus now, but the food is excellent. The specials board is the place to order from and really shows off the talent of the team in the kitchen. Add to that an amazing service team, reasonable food and drink prices its no surprise you need to book here or you may be disappointed. Already planning to return next time we go to Eyemouth.

My experience of Scottish pubs and restaurants is that you don't always get what it says on the tin. Here is different, thankfully. Having been enticed by the menu we ordered mussels, ship chips, wild haggis bon bons and the seafood linguine. All was beautifully cooked, presented and totally delicious. The staff were speedy and courteous and really enhanced our visit. We also really enjoyed reading the menu with options of 'yesterday's soup of the day (because it's always better the next day) and o as a menu note for 'Odins beard! That's tasty'. Well worth a visit, a few pints and a tasty meal.

Great find, only wish we had visited earlier in the week. Managed to squeeze us in, table for 2. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Ordered 2 small fish dinners and cokes. Food was delicious, homemade fries, peas and a good sized small fish. Great price for what you got and restaurant was lovely too.

Stopped off during the Eyemouth gala day for some refreshments and had a quick bite,great seating area outside for people with dogs,also allows dogs indoors in a segregated area.. definitely be back.

First time at The Ship today. Arrived at 3:35pm and the lady served us quickly as lunch ended at 4. Thankfully for her prompt service we had ordered and sat with drinks within 15mins. Happy days! The food came quickly too. It was absolutely amazing!! We will defo defo be back. Thanks so much to all the staff!

Nice restaurant. Food was good, portions were large and the staff were lovely but as a veggie my only option was macaroni cheese.

We called in for an early dinner, and despite being busy managed to get a table without a wait. The menu, and specials board, had plenty of choice, and after a short wait our order was taken. There was no problem in ordering a starter as a small main, and no problem with availability any of the order. The food was absolutely delicious - good portions and served hot. A couple of glances at a nearby table brought comments "I wish I had ordered the fish and chips" but our meals were lovely. Fish and chips next time perhaps .... I highly recommend the mussels, my 11 year old grandson is a convert to them! The staff were friendly and attentive, checking on us but not hurrying us even though there was a growing queue of people in the bar area. There was no problem in finishing off the meal with coffees / drinks even though we were blocking a table. It was our first visit, and probably won't be our last.

We tried this restaurant on our last night, wish we’d visited earlier. All the food was delicious and fresh, we had the haggis bonbons, seafood pasta and fish and chips. Everything was perfect. Love the quirkiness of it, from the humorous menu to the poop deck (toilets). Staff were lovely too

Not normally one to make reviews (only when really good or really bad actually), sadly this was the latter! We had a large group booking and from the moment both myself and the group walked in i've not felt such disdain and attitude from not one but all serving staff. The group of us were very close to walking out and had it not been for a very lovely sitting down eating their dinner offering their table to us to help us out with some sitting we would have left! Utterly disgusted by it even now and i don't think i've ever walked out of a restaurant not leaving a tip, but this was the time. Big shame as the food was very good, but the girls/ladies at the front of house cheated the chef and their team from a decent tip Get your act together or if you don't enjoy hospitality try to look for another job which you do enjoy doing ladies! You're doing the area and food a huge disservice!

Good seafood and other in a nice small seatown

Had an excellent meal in this restaurant it’s has a very relaxed feel about it nice lounge bar area and restaurant is very modern. The food was excellent the muscles were amazing and steak cooked to perfection. Fish was also very good. All round great place. The only thing letting it down slightly is the whole customer experience and service, I don’t think the restaurant has a great customer experience culture, this needs to be driven by the owners, this needs to be improved as it was very mixed.

Staff not welcoming, and when we couldn’t order a drink we walked out again. I quote. “We cant serve you a drink to take to the tables by the quay, and you cant bring fish and chips from next door into our (empty) beer garden.”.

The quality of the food was way better than I expected for pub grub. A lot of thought has been put into the dishes and they were prepared perfectly. Great place.

Read the menu carefully. A Philly cheese steak is not what you expect, it's an ok steak on philadephia cheese!!

We're been here a few times, and the food is always great, as are the waiting staff. When we are in Eyemouth, we always go there.

The ladies were really busy serving customers outside and inside but that didn't affect their service delivery. They were excellent: attentive, cheery and chatty, and made sure we wanted for nothing. The food was excellent and the portions massive! I was very satisfied all round.

First of all, top marks to The Ship for being open on a drizzly Tuesday Eyemouth evening! My wife were giving up hope... But thank goodness we found The Ship. As we walked in you could tell it was going to be a good evening. The staff were really friendly and efficient and actually looked as if they enjoyed their jobs. A good table was quickly found and we enjoyed two really excellent courses, accompanied by tasty wines. The fish was definitely very fresh; the menu offered a wide choice and we left feeling thoroughly pleased that we'd discovered The Ship. Recommended!
