Such a great find in tiny Tain. This little cafe has wonderful food and a super friendly owner/waitress. The best tattie (potato) scone I’ve ever had and probably the best breakfast I’ve had throughout my four weeks in the UK. My fiancé loved their vegetarian breakfast as well. Really good prices. You can’t go wrong. Definitely come here.

Sunflowers is in an exceptional site in the middle of town. It serves great tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc and a nice tight range of breakfasts and other coffee shop type food. The music is all from the 50s 60s 70s and 80s. It is very cozy. My favourite is the macaroni cheese, salad and chips washed down with Irn Bru. Just remember though they only take cash-no cards accepted, not even debit cards. This is a very special place.

On a Whisky tour we arrive early at our destination. The receptionist suggested we go into Tain.We parked in the centre of Tain and almost stumbled on the Sunflower by accident. The cafe was very small, seating no more than 16 and at first glance I thought we would have to wait for a seat but we given the last table towards the back. The menu was simple and everything very well priced.I had already even before entering decided I would have the broccoli and cheese soup which was advertised on a small notice in the window. My brother went for a scone and both of us had cappuccino coffees.Apart from the butter and coffees everything else was clearly home made. The soup and bread were marvellous whilst the scone and raspberry jam were likewise.I did remark to one of the assistants that the soup should not have been called "broccoli and cheese" but "broccoli and cheese and more cheese"Coming from Aberdeen and York regrettably means I am unlikely to be able to drop in when passing very often but I will certainly recommend the Sunflower to any one I know going in the Tain direction. The true irony of the visit to the area is that we both spoke far more about the Sunflower for the rest of our whisky tour than we did about the distillery which I should add was very good.

I take my elderly father here every week for breakfast, the staff are lovely and always willing to adapt menu items to your needs. My father likes a bacon roll, the bacon is well done as he likes it, the roll is warm as is the plate it sits on. This is exactly as my father requested. I asked to swap bacon for the egg in my breakfast, no bother at all, extra bacon it is! (bacon is crispy too, as requested) The cafe is always clean and tidy, the staff friendly and happy (!), I can't really find a fault here. Ok, if pushed I'd say contactless payment would be helpful (it's cash only), maybe WiFi too, but neither is a deal breaker.

Been here a few times to this cosy, quirky wee cafe, and it never disappoints. Yesterday, ate a lovely baked potato with prawns and marie rose sauce, which came with salad, coleslaw and tortilla chips. My husband enjoyed his tuna mayo panini also, both served by a friendly waitress. Was too full to indulge in the Tunnocks teacake and caramel cheesecake, that I spied under the glass counter. However, I was determined to have some for later, and the waitress kindly boxed a piece for me to buy and take home. I can honestly say that it must be one of the nicest cheesecakes that I have ever eaten, and the huge portion has fed me again today too, Thankyou!!

Looking for a cafe for lunch in Tain, but choice was limited. Ended up in Sunflower, but very little to get excited about. It is tired and dated in appearance, food seems to be stuck in 90’s. Service unbelievably slow and quality of food average at best. Hard to say how to make a bad cup of coffee these days, but my £2.50 bought a tiny cup with a skin on top. We went here today because we were going to attend the Clan gathering in town. It was a good choice based on what we were looking for. A breakfast place to get us started. It should be noted that you need cash here! They don't do plastic! So, for the first few minutes, I had to hunt down a cash machine as I didn't have enough paper money to look after the bill. There are cash machines very close by though, so not too big an issue. We had a small round table that wobbled. Fixed with two sugar packets. As my wife and daughter remained at the table while hunted down cash, coffee was arriving at the same time as me. We all ordered our meal, breakfast, and some ordered the vegan alternative. I got the small meat breakfast. The food arrived quickly and it was hot and came as ordered. We all enjoyed our food and there was enough to satisfy us as well as share some leftovers. The prices were good. All in all?

Opted for this little cafe while taking a break in Tain en route for farther north. Fairly busy, with some guys who were obviously regulars enjoying a hearty brunch, and other folk on coffee and cake stops. The cakes were a bit hidden at the back, and the chocolate one proved as tasty as it looked. Only one gluten free option, which was also chocolate based, but not the ubiquitous pre-packed brownie (hurray!)and was certainly tasty, but a bit too much chocolate at one go for me. Don't worry - the rest got eaten later!

Perhaps we caught the staff on an off day (I hope so because I really desire local/small businesses to do well), however, If you're in the town of Tain do yourself a favor and walk a few steps further down the street to another bakery that appears from the window to be worlds better.

Come here quite often as we know the food is freshly cooked and John's poached eggs are something else!Home baking done by the owners (in both one and sunflowers too) and is the type of place you can relax and eat without feeling rushed. Can't beat it and the owners are really friendly too

Myself and partner popped into Sunflowers and had a cup of tea (and coffee) and a bacon sandwich each. I was impressed with the quick service and the size of our sarnies! I was looking at the plates that were passing our tables, and I am looking forward to going back and having a more substantial meal!

Not too keen on sharing this great cafe with you.Food and service excellent. Not much to look at from the outside but don't let that deter you from this little gem.

This place does an all day breakfast which is just what we wanted. The people were nice, and the food was ok. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing special either

Decided to come here for lunch just for a wee change from our usual places. The cafe area is cosy and has been kept clean and is in a great location on the High Street of Tain. The menu also holds a good, varied selection of foods to choose from. We ordered the Chicken and Rice soup with a sweet chili chicken half-filled bap and the daily special of Brie, Cranberry and Bacon Panini with curly fries. Sadly, the food wasn't what we expected. The soup was fine but not of great quality and the panini was much smaller than anticipated and didn't come with any salad - very disappointing considering the panini cost £7.50. The coffee and espresso we had were great although you can hardly go wrong there. All in all, for the overpriced total cost of £16.50 for two people for a below average lunch, we were not satisfied. The customer service was sufficient but could have been friendlier. The only reason we haven't given one star is because their sister cafe 'Sunflowers Too' is much better in all respects.

I'm a big eater but I came here two days in a row and couldn't finish either day.Day 1:Macaroni cheese and chipsDay 2:Prawn Cocktail (main) with a side order of chips.Day 1:Luxurious macaroni cheese and chips. Cannot fault it! Imagine the best macaroni and chips you could ever have and then taste this and change your mind. Day 2:I was on my own and knew no-one but my jaw hit the floor when I saw the size of my portion (and the "small" side of chips) I had absolutely no shame whatsoever in shovelling all this tasty fresh food into my face but I still couldn't get it all down before the 20 min lag between my belly and my brain kicked in and I had to give in to my stomach capacity. It also came with buttered granary bread and salad... I really shouldn't have ordered the side of chips. I'm rarely out of the central belt but if I get the chance to go up North again I would try and visit Tain and the Sunflower Cafe too. The menu seems pretty basic at first glance but each meal I saw pass my table gave me food envy. This was 2 weeks ago now and I'm salivating. I need a
