The Tailor's House in Dungannon

Delicious food. Great service. Friendly atmosphere. Would definitely go again! A charming stop amidst Ballygawley.

First up I have to own up - I stay and eat here about once a month. You would think I’d get bored and stay elsewhere - of course I have tried others - (and food wise this is only open Thursday to Sunday) Nothing comes close to the value and quality on offer here! Moira has some great foodie spots, Omagh has a few I’d suggest but Tailors House is the one I keep coming back to. It regularly and always delivers Bread, prawn salad and chicken delivered big time yet again!

Large group of friends all enjoyed a 3 course meal. Definitely a special meal, not the cheapest but the food was worth every penny.

The trailers inn was really nice upon arrival, the staff were friendly and we were let up to our room. The room was lovely and really nicely decorated and beds were comfortable! There is a blonde lady working in there and she was a gem, even got us a taxi to the venue which was really appreciated as were not from around. The only thing was, I went up to the desk the next morning to pay and the girl informed me they just went ahead and charged my card while I was at at a wedding in another venue, I found this quite unprofessional as I have a background in accommodation and our normal standard of practice is that we would phone the guest and inform them first without just taking it that way, if I had a call that payment was needed I would have not had an issue whatsoever but just taking the funds like that felt quite invasive. Overall tailors inn was worth the price in the end, based on the next morning unfortunately I wouldn’t return but can say that it’s a nice place.

Mediocre service. Wrong dishes brought out. Some meals were OK but the stirfry was not edible...no sauce on it just bland and dry with rubber chicken. Ended up visiting the chip shop. No apologies or refund offers. Very disappointing.

Booked to stop here for one night, passing through whilst working in the area. A really nice genuine welcome from the girls and shown to my room. Room 25 is for solo travelers, compact room with a single bed and en suite shower room. Very clean, and the bed was very comfortable and the shower was excellent with plenty of complimentary toiletries. Dinner in the restaurant was great, and good value at £25 for 3 courses on the early bird menu, and the service was excellent from the charming girls. Could not fault dinner in anyway. The following morning i needed to be away at 9.15 am prompt and with breakfast service not starting until 9.00 am I was concerned about running late. However the girls suggested I preorder my breakfast the night before to ensure i would be served promptly the following morning. Sure enough I went down for breakfast, served in the lovely garden room, just before 9.00 and my fantastic full Irish arrived bang on 9.00 am!! perfect! The overriding impression of Tailors House was the lovely warm and genuine service from all the staff I met whilst staying there. Just a lovely place run by a lovely team.

We booked to stay here for two nights. (Saturday and Sunday evening). When we arrived it all looked lovely and felt like a true Irish pub place to stay. We were met at the door by the manager who showed us where our room was. The room was lovely with plenty of space for the 4 of us. Sunday morning saw us needing tea and coffee before breakfast. For a family room it only had 3 cups in resulting in us having to wash put a cup for us all to have a cuppa before we could get into the bar for 9am breakfast. Breakfast was lovely. The children enjoyed the fruit along with the pancakes that were on the menu. Monday morning came. All up early to start our day to find the door was locked into the bar so we couldn't get any extra coffee for the room as ot hadn't been topped up fromthe day before. Walked to the shop to buy teas and coffee for us all. 9am came and the children were excited to have pancakes for breakfast only to find that the door into the bar was locked and couldn't get in. We knocked on the door to find two lovely ladies who worked there saying that the excit to the hotel was on the right. We proceed to tell them that we had stayed and are going for breakfast to be told that the hotel wasn't open again till Tuesday and breakfast wasn't on! This wasn't mentioned when we booked for the two night and certainly wasn't mentioned to us when we checked in. We them had two disappointed children who were very hungry. We then had to find somewhere else to have breakfast. Becarful when booking for a long weekend!!

We were invited to enjoy the first tasting menu from chef Lauren Shimmin in the pretty Garden Room restaurant, and also had the opportunity to stay in one of the beautifully appointed guest rooms; chic and modern, tastefully decorated in grey and silver with a gorgeously dark wooden floor, and a large en-suite bathroom with all the amenities required for a restful stay.   Back To School ‘The Tasting’ What would be your lasting memories of School Dinners? Grey lumpy mash? Spam Fritters? Tapioca Pudding (or “Frogspawn” as we affectionately called it)? Well, such culinary nightmares were definitely banished at an incredible reimagining of school fare at The Tailor’s House’s first Interactive Six Course Dining Experience, by head chef Lauren Shimmon. This night of great food and fine wine started with Breakfast; a delightfully wobbly Cereal Milk Panna Cotta, with Granola, Rhubarb Jam & Toast. This was followed by a Breaktime snack of Savoury Corned Beef Eclair (and a prawn version for the pescatarians) with Sauerkraut, Mustard, and a bag of homemade Salt & Vinegar Crisps. Next, a visit to the Tuck Shop for some palate cleansing Fruit Pastilles, before School Dinner of Merguez Sausage, White Bean Purée, Lamb Chip, Pickled Peas, and a Lamb Neck Cruffin, with Cod Fish Fingers for the non meat eaters. Dessert was a stunningly pretty “Apple”; a white chocolate shell filled with Pistachio Sponge, Raspberry Jam, and Lemon Verbena Custard, and our After School Treat? Cooling Pear Picking Porky lollies! A real taste of childhood! With each course accompanied by great wine pairing, and some wonderfully theatrical flourishes -that school bell is still ringing in our ears-we can’t wait to see what the next Tailor’s House Interactive Dining Experience will be. Whatever Lauren and the team come up with, it’ll be a night not to be missed, and imagination will definitely be required!

Friendly staff, nice ambience, delicious food! Family of 5 everyone was happy😊. The feta starter looked so lovely the way it was presented, it was equally delicious. Whipped feta served with home made crackers , baby beetroot, delicious jus, a perfect starter. 2 teenagers had the wings and loved them. 2 of our party had the soup which was delicious. Mains were fish, chips and mushy peas which were so good, a lamb dinner, delicious and a turkey and ham dinner also delicious served with lots of veg, individual cauliflower cheese pots, yum, carrots and parsnips and broccoli, delicious gravy and a jus! We went for Sunday lunch but the weekday menu looks really good too, well worth the visit! We will definitely come back. They also have private function areas and rooms to overnight. Super place!

We have lost so many good restaurants..this side of covid...Ukraine...whatever we want to blame it on there is just less to choose from...Donaghmore, two great places to eat...Stewartstown two great paces to eat...Dungannon hmm stuck in the nineties... and my favouriteee place in the Moy is now gone...so thank goodness for someone with a chef trying out some new things and great attention to service...to detail...please keep doing what you are doing and people will learn about you...an easy run from Dungannon or anywhere along the motorway and loads of parking outside...friendly great draught beers...try it out!

Dinner with family left an unpleasant taste in the mouth. Beautiful starters, lovely children’s food and nice atmosphere but the fillet steak (of which two portions were ordered) caused disappointment. The filet steak given to the female diner came in two end pieces both of which were too well done, one purely cremated in spite of being asked for ‘medium-well ‘. The chef said he offered the second piece as an extra but the small size of the fillet steak would be obvious that this was not a freebie piece. Really disappointing at £30 for a fillet. Restaurant offered two free sides reimbursed (approx £6-£8) even though the meat was inedible. My jaws are still sore chewing. Chef and staff members admitted steak was burnt… What a shame. Even more’s the pity that the waitress couldn’t care less. The intransigence and argumentative nature of the maitre de left us speechless. Ladies, would this have been served to a man? Really disappointing experience. Should not have been charged. We love great food but won’t ignore when substandard food is served at significant prices.

Warm greeting and welcome from the minute you arrive Substantial value on the early bird and the Thursday Steak night menu but the real star is the a la carte I thought I wasn’t really hungry and ended up having a selection of snacks and starters each one better than the previous Pig Head croquettes Salt and pepper scampi Pork cheek Sourdough Crispy duck egg This is a foodies dream!

We visited this lovely little restaurant for Sunday lunch with friends. This was a first visit and we were warmly welcomed and all the staff were very attentive. We went for the two courses for £22. I had the Roast beef dinner and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The presentation of the dinner was lovely, it just wasn’t very warm. I like a piping hot Sunday dinner. Looking back I actually should have told staff it wasn’t very warm. It also felt it really lacked vegetables. For a Sunday dinner I thought that odd and I like the fine dining style of it. The sticky toffee pudding was grand just wasn’t fussed on the ice cream that comes with it. This is just my personal taste. My friend did have cod and chips it looked very good a really big fish. I would visit again and try some other dishes. Everyone was lovely. It has a nice atmosphere.

Everything was beyond fantastic. Staff were lovely friendly and welcoming but best of all was the food. Went twice on our holiday. First time mushrooms and steak were perfect. Second time scallops and duck. We go to France a lot. Mostly for the food but this was as good if not better than anything we have eaten in France. The wine was also incredible. Nice meal, just had a very long wait for mains which is tough for children. Prices bit on the high side. The loos need a bit of t&c to tidy up the decor. Would be good if staff showed an interest in being more welcoming and friendly and not just processing you through. Good spot for a reliable meal.

We stayed at the tailors house for 4 nights last weekend while at a family wedding in Tyrone. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were all so welcoming helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend it and if we are ever back up that part of the country we will definetely stay again. The rooms were nice and spacious and spotlessly clean with lovely decor. Theres a lovely pub and restaraunt under the b&b which we really enjoyed. After our stay my daughter realised she left her kindle in the room when we were back in Tipperary. I messaged to see if it was found and without even having to ask they messaged back and said they will post it down to us and when I asked to let me know the amount it cost so I could send payment I was told they would cover it. They really went above and beyond and I appreciate it so much.

Service and food were impeccable from start to finish. Can’t recommend it enough! Even though it was a busy evening when we arrived the staff were very attentive, not just to us but to all tables. Food was delicious and our kids loved it.

I travel Belfast to Sligo on a regular basis, on my trips from North East Scotland. Found this place by accident, this is my regular stop, Sunday for an late night inexpensive room, Thursday nights for the room and the food, oh my the superbly inexpensive steak night. I work from the bar on a Friday morning, just so I can enjoy a great lunch and not the mediocre ferry food. I am planning to try and stop here for a tasting night and weekend breakfast. The guys recently got an award, well deserved I say. I can't recommend this wee place highly enough, not just exceedingly good quality, I really think really great value too.

We stayed two nights here for a nearby family wedding. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful, the food reasonably priced and very good. Would definitely recommend this place and would happily stay here again.
