Barlick Raj Balti in Pendle

The food here is absolutely amazing. I'm not the biggest fan of spicy food, so I'm always a little apprehensive of trying out new Indian restaurants, but this place is fantastic. They have a huge selection of mild and spicy dishes, and the food I had was really creamy with lots of flavour. I often find that many restaurants have dry lamb, but Raj's lamb was so tender and moist, I will definitely be ordering it again! The staff was friendly and attentive, and the owner/manager there was also incredibly friendly (gave me a drink on the house for my birthday!). Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a tasty, flavourful Indian!

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the adorable owner who couldn't have been more chatty and polite. The other staff were just as attentive and genuinely seemed interested in serving you and ensuring you had a delicious meal. The waiters had smiles on their faces that did not waver. I've never seen so many pleasant smiles and sets of teeth in one restaurant. We had a basic Korma to eat, and although the flavour didn't blow me away, I could not complain. Our starters were the best, as they arrived sizzling on a hot plate, and were very hot and tasty. Initially the restaurant was cold but it was soon warmed up when the heaters came on, so absolutely no complaints there. There are pictures hung on the wall of people who dine their regular, so you really feel like the staff take notice of the clientele and care about their experience. It was fantastic - and very reasonably priced! :)

First visit, we found staff very pleasant and helpful. We were impressed with the recent national best curry award hanging proudly on the wall, increasing our appetite greatly ! The chicken chat and samosa starters were nice which were followed by a royale special and chicken tikka masala. The main courses were okay, not a lot of meat, but lots of sauce. Overall bit of a damp squib I'm afraid. The owner asked me to place a review and here it is.

A nice welcoming atmosphere with tasty food. You can take your own booze which is a bonus. The food is tasty and reasonably priced would recommend.

We visited this restaurant for my husband’s birthday and it was excellent! The staff had put some decorations up for the birthday celebration and they even brought a birthday cake out after the main meal and sung happy birthday to him which made the evening special. The main meal was really delicious and the staff very friendly. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

What can I say? If you read any of my reviews I love food. This is seriously the best Indian restaurant I have been in. The food was amazing. If I could give a 5+ stars this would be it. We are in the area for 4 nights & I'm going back before we head home. Anyone who lives locally I am so jealous. Called in by chance while on holiday in the area, lovely decor, staff were really friendly and food was amazing, best Indian I've had and so flavoursome, very reasonably priced, definitely worth a visit, gutted we don't live nearby to visit more often!

My wife and I had a meal here last night. It was totally delicious; one of the best vindaloos I've ever had. My wife isn't a fan of spicy food, so opted for the mushroom omelette instead. She said it was very good also. The prices are very reasonable and the restaurant is run by two of the most pleasant and helpful guys I've ever met. From entering the establishment you are made to feel welcome. Second visit to this lovely little restaurant in Barlick. The food and presentation is fabulous and the service is good to. Price wise - we had 2 drinks each, poppadums and pickle tray, 2 starters, 2 main courses, rice and chappattis - approx £45. As Del Boy would say luvverly jubbly

Third time we've been here fir a take away. First two the food was superb quality. Unfortunately the last, and it will be the last time, the chicken was undercooked.

Ate here last night before going to a gig at The Arts Centre. Very friendly staff especially H who had a lovely chat with us. The food was delicious 😋 I had Chicken Thurzlar with pilau rice. The chicken was so tender and tasty. My husband had Sher-E-Bangla with pilau rice which was also delicious! We live in Sawley near Clitheroe but we will be going here for takeaway too in future it will be worth the drive 👌

Just visiting the area for a few nights and wanted somewhere to eat to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Checked out previous reviews on here and were keen to try it out. Absolutely DO NOT order from here if you have any dietary requirements or allergies! I rang the restaurant first to talk about what I could eat with a dairy allergy and I then told them I was ordering it online and I clearly added notes to say NO DAIRY products in the items I ordered. I even asked if the dishes come with chicken tikka or chicken and he said "only if it says chicken tikka", to which it didn't! They sent my curry with chicken tikka which is marinated in yoghurt - even though I'd ordered plain chicken and this was clear on the receipt too showing the order. I called them to ask if it was chicken tikka as it was very pink chicken and after a very relaxed chat with the chef they said it was. I should have been much more angry than I was and they said they would re deliver me another curry, this was 8:30. Then I got a call back saying they were shutting at 9 due to "current climate" so couldn't come out. This was a total lie as I rang back at half 9 to check and they were still open! He also said be would sort a refund out with their online ordering service, guess what, another lie! Deceit is not good customer service, and as for knowing what dairy products are, you could make people seriously ill or worse, you need to get some serious training on it.

Definitely the best indian restaurant that I’ve ever been to. The prices are shockingly low and the food is delicious. The customer service was extremely pleasant - food was served fast, and at the end of the meal we were served orange slices free of charge, and were brought hot wet wipes. Overall, an extremely pleasant experience.

Hit and miss, had an absolutely abysmal barely edible curry a long time ago so didn't go for a while, much to my partner's disappointment because he'd never had a bad curry here. Tried again recently and was really pleased with quality of my food but my partner said he was disappointed with his. We can't win! Both bad meals were bad in similar ways being greasy and really bland.
