We had a great evening at Chakoo, the food was outstanding! Would highly recommend the lamb chops - very tasty. We very much enjoyed our Friday dinner. We had a friendly waitress and we will return. My only suggestion would be to serve the mango & banana crumble with ice cream, it needed something to compliment it.

Four of us were shown to our 7pm pre-booked table up the stairs, in the City Centre restaurant. Our waitress Christina was friendly, helpful and bubbly. The menu was quite confusing and unclear. When the food arrived, we all thought the choices we made were not adequate. Although tasty, hot and delicious it just wasn,t enough. Pricewise, middle of the road, Food quality, great, Just not enough. Menu.........???? Confusing. 7 out of 10 from the "Kurry Klub"

Second visit here and every bit as good as the first time. Great food, good service and a nice atmosphere. Two dishes each plus rice and a side each is just about right. With the small dishes it is a great way of tasting a variety of curries.

Daughter had been recommended to come here. So glad we listened. The place was full of people and atmosphere. Our waitress was nice and honest about what she liked and didn’t! As it’s “small plates” focused we were recommended 2-3 dishes each for the 3 of us. Our dishes included chicken pakora, vegetable pakora, smoked chicken tikka, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, garlic chilli chicken, garlic naans, onion rice and masala fries. The flavours were great. Be aware that every dish arrives at once in true tapas style. Couple of glasses of Merlot, a beer and a soft drink and after the optional (and clearly highlighted) 10% service charge our bill seemed fair at just under £90. It’s a small chain at the moment with other branches in Glasgow’s West End and Edinburgh. Definitely be back if close to any of their locations.

Oh so wanted to love this as we'd had rave reviews from F&F but only a strong like, maybe if we hadn't been to it's rival across the road it might have been better. The lamb bhuna was the standout, closely followed by the afghani chicken tikka & king prawns. The let downs- the garlic naan was cold when it arrived at the table, the masala fries were shoestring fries with some masala seasoning & nowhere near worth the cost. The crumble was also a bit pricey for what it was & £1.75 for a scoop of ice cream from what must have been the smallest scoop they could find!

We stumbled across this restaurant a few months ago and were blown away that we knew we had to return. We made a reservation online which I would definitely recommend to avoid getting turned away. There is a lovely atmosphere from the minute you enter. Staff are very welcoming and explain the menu in full. This restaurant is Tapas style so all food arrives together. The staff advise you that 2 or 3 dishes person person is more than enough. However if you have a smaller or bigger appetite you can order what you wish. Food was exceptional, piping hot and all fresh. We also had desserts the mango & banana crumble is very tasty with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. Cocktails also very good and great value for money.

Food nice but not worth the £63 we paid. Initially given wrong menu for £12.95 deal and asked if there was another deal with mixers. Said yes and helped select dishes. I was not told at any point that they didn’t have mixers and charged for 6 main meals. Just watch what your told and ask for price up front.

Scored a 4 because the food, albeit very flavoursome, was a touch scant. All it needed was maybe a little more rice and, say, a whole nan rather than a half...( nans are the nice thin and slightly crispy kind rather than the big doughy variety ). I ate the lamb thali "tapas" style lunch...two small lamb dishes ( really well cooked and a decent amount of meat with v.g. sauce) and a lentil dish as well. See pic.Small pot of chai latte to accompany. Service friendly and efficient so good marks for that £15 for the thali, £4 for the chai prior to 10% service charge which I am mellowing towards as I grow older. Place itself is a bit "themed" on the decor front but it's OK. Would I return? Maybe but would need more to eat if I did.

A Very Warm welcome to the resturant and showed to a table by the window. Service was excellent throughout our lunchtime visit. We opted for the lunch time Thali Trays. We really enjoyed them, and there was plenty of meat in the dishes and full of flavour. The chai tea was lovely way to end our meal with to. Our visit was very good and would certainly return again. A little disappointed with the quality of the food today. It was Sunday lunch time and the meat in both dishes the chicken tikka masala and biryani was dry which would suggest it wasn't fresh. And the naan was cold. The kids meal chips and nuggets were the only items that seemed fresh.

I was extremely disappointed with the customer service at this restaurant. Not only was I seated at a broken table, but I had to hold it up with one hand while eating with the other. When I asked the waitress to pack the food I didn't want to finish, she simply handed me a box and instructed me to do it myself. This unprofessional behavior left a lasting negative impression, and I strongly advise against dining here."

Be aware of the discretionary 10% charge that is automatically added - I asked to get it removed and the staff happily did so. Not a fan of this, hence the 3 stars. Food was good, atmosphere lively and dining space nicely decorated. Staff missed a dish, however they apologised for it.

Despite having a dinner reservation we were seated right by the till where staff congregated which you would think ensured great attentive service? Service was very poor, having to flag down staff to ask for drinks & desert menu, never asked how our meal was. Desert never arrived. The Bill (almost thrown over my husbands shoulder as he was sat next to the till) was wrong when it did arrive & then went through the throwing over the shoulder for the 2nd bill! At that point we hadn’t even expressed our disappointment at the service. Despite the good food and atmosphere we would not return here if we were to return to Glasgow on another trip and would npcertainly not recommend to friends.

Undoubtedly the best Indian food I've tasted (in my humble opinion!), and I've been many times. The garlic chilli chicken and the Afghani kebabs are truly delicious. The only thing I'd add is the marble tabletops in the downstairs booths are quite cool and speed up the cooling-down of the plates & food sitting on them, so maybe some place mats or the wee candle-powered heating trays I've seen in other restaurants might be good? PS: the raspberry lassi is superb too.

First time here staff very friendly. They advised food was small portions to order 3 each. As it was lunch time 1 was enough each. I had the meatball curry nice but spicy, we also had chicken korma and butter chicken also spicy. We had a lemon rice and sweet nan bread this was very messy as the nuts where on the outside. Cost £50 for 3 people to have lunch as they added a service charge. Pretty expensive if your buying 3 portions each.

A good spot for a nice Indian lunch for a change. Effective menu and liked the tapas style tray options as an alternative. Felt a little chilly inside but was a cold day and not particularly busy time. Efficient competent staff and very nicely cooked little dishes, though did not retain their cooked heat as well as expected thus slight issue there. Otherwise would visit again and the value was excellent for lunch menu and just the right amount of food, delicious jeera rice, korma and naan. Very comfortable booth seating and surroundings.

First visit 16/12/2023 We enjoyed the food which was tasty - our favourites were the masala fries and the peshwari naan. Good buzzy atmosphere. Glad we visited but don’t like lack of space with having all the dishes on a small table at one time. We were also aware that you only get the table for 90 minutes so you do feel rushed when eating. We visited Chaakoo Bombay Cafe on Wednesday with my elderly relatives, we had booked for 5:00pm and as we were running a bit late I called at 4.40pm to alert the staff, the girl who answered was very nice and said not to worry about this. When we arrived however the girl who met us at the door was extremely rude, asking my brother-in-law if he was meeting someone, her manner was very poor and when I got in the door I told her I’d booked a table, she grumped at me that it was booked for 5:00pm and when I said I’d called she wasn’t too impressed and said we’d need to give our table back by 7:00pm. I’m only mentioning this as everyone else we came into contact with was fantastically friendly and kind. It’s not the best way to be greeted at the restaurant I’d been telling my relatives about all day and I was more than upset by her attitude. She actually took our order but it just seemed she was having a bad day. As usual the food was stunning so thank you for the consistency of this. Kind regards K Hunter

Arrived to be told they needed the table back at 7pm- never a good sign because the time it takes to eat/enjoy dinner is entirely dependant on the service. Ordered two curries, both dry and tasteless but spicy. The first time either of us have had a spicy korma- my boyfriend likes spicy and even he thought it was spicy for a korma. The chicken in the korma was dry and stringy. The curries were half eaten at best. After the food arrived, no one came near us. So we got to share one knife between two of us. The disappointment with the curry was fed back to waiting staff and they said they'd let the kitchen know. We spent the time waiting for our bill looking at menus for places nearby and chose to go to a bar across the road to get dessert. Altogether, a bad experience. Which is a shame considering we'd been before and enjoyed it and we'd specifically chosen it tonight for a special occasion.

Gorgeous place with gorgeous food. We came in with no reservations on a Saturday evening looking for halal food and were lucky enough to wait some 15-ish minutes. Hostess brought us to the bar area to have some drinks while we waited for our seats. The restaurant was packed and buzzing by then and when we were ushered to our seats, we kept bumping into servers and customers walking about. Some people might not like that, but I just love it. It just sort of adds to the lively atmosphere even more. Got our food within another 15 min of ordering, and was served our Lamb Madras, Monkfish Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, chicken pakoras, some Masala fries and the Jeera and lemon rice. Do you guys ever to a South Asian or curry place and find that everything tastes the same? Well, not here — all their curries were distinct from one another and it was such an enjoyable experience being able to savour them individually and then mixed and matched together. The monkfish was particularly wonderful, and while usually such a dense fish, in the curry it was tender and delightfully sweet. The Lamb madras just melts in your mouth, warming you in all the right ways. Obviously the chicken tikka is a favourite, but it was bordering on boring if you ask me, but all in all, fantastic curries. Even the side dishes we got were good: Chicken pakora were so, so tender and flavourful; rice was light and well-seasoned; we might’ve ordered too much carbs but again, can’t go wrong with the masala fries, lovingly spiced and seasoned. We took those to go in the end. Service was great — our servers came in to check in with us twice and always seemed to be in good spirits. Everywhere you look, it’s such a picture. The old-school yet updated interiors and ambiance definitely lends to the coziness of the experience. Will surely be back here the next time we’re in Glasgow again.

For those of you who know Dishoom, the decor here is pretty much a carbon copy, but done equally as well with some nice tongue in cheek touches. Also like Dishoom, the food is Indian tapas style and I was thinking that this is where the similarities would end. I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong! The food is spectacular. The service was good, the portion size very disappointing and the set dishes were not a good choice and not able to change, the larger drink was not nice, the glass it came in was too thick, price was over the top for the portion sizes, the people are lovely, service charge added so be careful not to add more. I was so looking forward to going in here as 😞

Lovely Irish interior, but excellent Indian food. Good lunchtime menu with very generous portions.

Been here a few times now, food is always spot on. Always get the paneer curry and the starters are great too. Cocktails are really nice as well. Staff are super friendly and attentive and the place has a really nice ambience. Always quite busy tho, so make sure to book!
