Coast House Bar & Grill - Hafan Y Mor, Haven in Gwynedd

Very pleasant experience. Staff were friendly and attentive especially waitress. Food was what you would expect for the value of money and how quickly these restaurants need to be able to get them out in peak times. The chairs are falling apart but I’m sure they’re well used. I would return.

The food here is appalling under the lights for over 10mins food came out stone cold and absolutely vile would not recommend as I am a chef writing this review my self The head chef there I’m assuming who that was doesn’t even know the allergies in a certain thing in the menu from the conversation I overheard MENTAL! Not even qualified chefs…… And the host ABBIE! Don’t get me started no manners absolutely disgusting behaviour from that girl I have no idea how she has she got a job here being an absolute snob AVOID!

We ate here on our trip away as a family , We were seen to our seats quickly and the place was quiet. The young waiter that served up was very polite and helpful and asked for allergies . A young waitress took our order , food came out was nice and we didn’t have to wait long. Tables were clean and menus and Daniel served us towards us towards the end and was excellent with my little girl and making her laugh and was lovely to us. Lots of staff and quick service I would return! Should be proud of yourself !! We were happy !

The park in general is wonderful, but this place is letting it down! We came as a family of 4 adults and ate here on the first night, two of us had a sharer and it wasn’t the best, I remembered from last year that the food wasn’t great but hoped it had improved, apparently not. The meatballs were burnt and the rib meat was like mush. On the last night we all agreed on a roast and having a lack of choice in the area (this place, driving miles or a takeaway) we reluctantly booked a table, what could go wrong with a simple roast? The food that came out was so dry, we watched it sit under the heat lamp for 10mins, the potatoes were like rocks, the broccoli was raw, the parsnips were unable to be chewed and needed a saw, the stuffing was like baby food and the beef like leather - the two men of our party battled on out of hunger but the ladies politely sent it back, annoyingly we had to then rush to make the entertainment, but the food that came back out was at least edible and they reduced the bill, but its just so annoying that we didn’t receive that plate in the first place! We saw more than two other tables send theirs back too - Hafan really needs to sort this out.

We were staying at the park this weekend with the family and decided to go for dinner there. We were a family of five. On arrival we were allocated our table albeit filthy as were the menus! A pet hate of mine! In short the food finally came less one meal! That was sorted fairly quickly yet we would have liked to eat together! The food was average at best yet Hugh street prices! Avoid the place! Wetherspoons would have been better!

First of all this is not about the haven in general but about the restaurant. Shown to our table and we’re given menus to look at which were filthy (2 of them were covered in dried food), we had to order at the bar because the Wi-Fi was rubbish and we couldn’t order on the app. We waited over 45 mins for our drinks to be brought to us ( we had asked 3 times when we were getting them) and had almost finished our food by the time they finally arrived. When they did finally arrive the girl just put our drinks down without an apology and walked away. A gentleman did come over and explain why it was late but it just sounded like an excuse. They also have us an extra plate of food they insisted we had ordered, but did give us a refund for it. The food was mediocre, staff were okay but the whole experience was not a pleasant one.

The caravan park is very well maintained and is a joy for families of all ages however the food at the restaurant is disgusting and overpriced,

We decided to have breakfast here on the Sunday morning of our stay. We sort of hung around whilst staff looked at us and carried on without any acknowledgment. It was quite so not sure why nobody came over. My husband went to ask one of the male members of staff who bluntly asked us to go and wait once more where we were waiting in the first place. We finally got served and the breakfast was ok, quick service and fairly good value for money. The main reason for this review is that we unfortunately decided to return for Sunday lunch. You’d expect an on-site place such as this to have a rough idea of the number of covers they are likely to have on a busy Sunday afternoon in August but clearly this isn’t the case here as it was a complete shambles and wasted an hour and a half of the the last afternoon of our break for nothing. We were served fairly quickly and politely once seated. We ordered three drinks starters of calamari, two beef roasts and a chicken nuggets meal for our son. Calamari arrived and it was ok, very no frills - a few lettuce leaves on the side and four pieces, but we didn’t expect much more than this for the price. Then the problems started. We waited 45 minutes before wondering when our mains were going to arrive. We started to observe the chaos of the staff running back and fourth with plates “it’s cold, they want it heated up” and so on. Plates of food waiting to be taken from the hot plate shelves for over twenty minutes, just sat there. I wouldn’t really say the staff looked that flustered, they didn’t really care. We asked twice if they would kindly bring out our four year old son’s meal as he had been waiting by then one hour and half with no food. Those first two staff walked up to the screen that they all seemed to be following for orders (not much communication or common sense between them) looked at it and walked away. We asked a third time and the staff member took our starter plates away and said she would notify the kitchen that we “were ready for our main meals”! She was the only one who had done this after all that time. That prompted me to walk up to the member of staff who seemed to be the one communicating between the kitchen and “shop floor”. She began explaining to me their rule of waiting ‘x’ amount of time if you’ve had a starter and the logistics that clearly don’t work . It’s of no interest to a customer if their child has been waiting that long for food and I replied by asking if that was acceptable to which she shouted to the kitchen to prepare his meal. By this point we’d had enough and asked for a refund. They didn’t hesitate as if it was routine. They didn’t apologise or show and care either which is disgusting. We also witness a large party arrive that took over three tables (15+ people). Who were told they had stopped serving roast dinners (ran out at 4.30pm) Understandably the party were not happy as that’s why they’d booked but they carried on choosing regardless. They waited for a staff member to return and nobody did so they had a mass walk out. It took the staff a good ten minutes after that to realise that they had gone before they separated their tables back into smaller sets. Biggest shambles I’ve seen in a long time and disappointing when this is main food venue on the site. It ruined the last afternoon of our holiday. We should have booked the popular venue off the site that our friends recommended, but we didn’t realise how awful this place was and if we return we won’t give it a second look next time. Honestly AVOID.

We went in and the staff were very helpful and nice. But when we order our family dinner it was all cold not even warm. We sent it back and a couple of things came out hot! At that point we were hungry and could be bother as we had seen other people’s food sitting at the window to be taken out for at least 30mins!!!

Ridiculously bad; like the ‘before’ section of Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares. Literally the worst place I have ever visited - and I’m 55!

Was absolutely terrified after reading these reviews but the meal was great. The restaurant itself is lovely, the food is your typical pub food. A lot of it is frozen food deep fried. We got Sausage and mash which came with gravy and onion rings which was nice. We got fish and chips twice - the mushy peas weren’t great and had crusty layer on the top so we asked for more and they brought some. A cheeseburger - asked for this just cheese - and that’s what we got. Kids meals were a bit small but the chicken nuggets were lovely. They were coated in buttermilk. Asked for corn on the cob but we got corn because they ran out of corn on the cob. We came at 6pm on Sunday. The Sunday roasts had gone - they only had chicken. So that was disappointing. Other than that - I thought it was your typical haven pub meal.

We visited the Coast House twice during our stay. My only complaint was the volume of the music. Both myself and husband have hearing issues and it’s far too loud! Staff were lovely and seated us in booths so we could just about hear each other. They also helped us to order via the app, so we weren’t shouting at the poor waitress! All staff were lovely and keen to help, giving the kids extra time. Food was exactly what you’d expect for the price. Filling pub fare, quality somewhere between Wetherspoons and a Harvester. For £32 to feed a family of four + wine, you really can’t complain!
