We had a lovely meal for my husbands birthday , last night. Food, service and price we're all excellent, highly recommend.

Just had a lovely meal at Colours, the staff were amazing, considering they are students the service and food was impeccable, would highly recommend a visit.

Lovely meal with friends on a Friday. Lunch. Nothing was rushed and it was not too busy. The meals were delivered very quickly after ordering. One small mistake in the starters was soon rectified. The cost of three courses and coffee at £13 was good value. Would certainly go again even as a couple and would recommend giving it a try if you haven't done already.

Hidden gem, serving quality food, fantastic to see the students learning their roles in a restaurant setting, food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely and relaxed, we felt very spoilt and well looked after and will definitely be back.

Not great, chicken was dry and had no flavour. Small portion sizes. Service was sub standard.

Best food in St Helens, it might be a limited menu but it is very good value. The presentation of the food really shows of the quality. The opening times are limited but it is worthwhile making the effort.

Ham hock & vegetables were really nice, but very salty. Sticky toffee pudding & toffee sauce was ok. Service was good, only our party of 30 in there on a Thursday night, otherwise it would have been empty with no atmosphere. Place was spotlessly clean. Not enough choice for me with only 4 main meals available, maybe increase this to 6. Personally I struggled for choice as I only tried the ham hock as a last resort.

We have visited this restaurant several times over the years and from the first time we went we have always thought of it as a ‘special’ place. With white linen tablecloths and silver service cutlery it was like eating at a fine dining establishment but without the fine dining prices. We booked a table for 6.30, when we arrived we were the only two diners in there, there is no longer white linen table cloths, just bare brown formica topped tables, so not as grand looking as it used to be but that wasn’t the problem. It was freezing cold inside with no heating on although the ceiling had lots of air con grills. The menu was worded in quite fancy terms and we felt like we were in for a treat, the grilled cod with fricassee peas sounded good so I thought I would give that a try, when it arrived it turned out to be the smallest piece of cod imaginable, very thin and about the thickness and size of say four fifty pence coins swimming on a bed of peas in a cream sauce. The quality of the food was okay but nothing special, and imagine sitting in a restaurant and eating with your overcoat on because its too cold to take it off, not our idea of a comfortable or pleasant environment. No one came to the table to ask us if everything was okay, when we went to pay it was mentioned that it was freezing cold in there, the server apologised and informed us that the air conditioning had not been working for two years and that St Helens college who the restaurant belongs to have refused to have it fixed. Sorry to say that the place has declined over the years and unfortunately we won’t be going there again which is such a shame as it was once an excellent place to eat and had a posh (but not stuffy) atmosphere which is sadly no longer the case.

Had Xmas lunch here yesterday as a group of 10, 4 courses for under £20/head and it was excellent. Staff are all from the college and were all very pleasant in learning their trade and all had a great smile on their faces which for youngsters these days is a rear commodity. You’ll not get a better meal or better service anywhere in St Helens for the price. Quality products used and all cooked fantastically well. See you again soon. Already booked in for same day next Xmas.

We had a really nice meal. The place was a little on the quiet side but it was still relaxing and the food was lovely. You can't complain for the prices and experience!

This was a great meal, a decently wide choice of food, great quality of food, service was good, drinks reasonable and plentiful, and portion size more than acceptable. The only negative was that there was only 8 diners (inc us 6) in a capacity of 40 tables so lacked a bit of atmosphere.

Just had a lovely Thursday birthday lunch at Colours with my wife and 3yr old twins. £9 for two courses or £12 for three really is fantastic value. Staff couldn't do enough for us and food is always great. Thanks

It was our first visit to Colours & we were pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the food. Although the menu choice is limited compared to some restaurants, it offered a varied selection. We enjoyed the 2 course menu (reasonably priced). All was presented beautifully & absolutely delicious with a great balance of flavours. We will definitely return.

Had vouchers from my sons for our sapphire wedding anniversary so we went it was amazing the food and the service was outstanding this was the first time since it had moved it use to be just round the corner so they hadn't moved far it's very nice inside and bigger

Scrummy food, polite, efficient staff, excellent service. Pork terrine, followed by beef strogonoffy type dish and they were both absolutely gorgeous. Will definitely visit again.

Had lunch today, for the first time, (well dinner) had the 2 coarse £9 each what a loverly meal , starter would have done ne for a meal but I had the roast for main meal, fit for nothing now , staff and trainees where very nice, will visit again, shame only open wed till Friday during college days, well worth a visit,

We visited Colour's last night,we have visited many times before and always had a good meal.When we arrived we were shown to our table by the Manager.he seemed agitated,we asked him was the free glasses of wine on this evening as I thought it was,he told me he had written the offer,and it wasn't available on a Friday night.Our main issues are also on line the steak is Ribeye,in the restaurant it was rump, totally different.The rump took alot of chewing,my partner gave up and half went back.The roll of a Manager should be to create a convivial and relaxed atmosphere Which unfortunately on this occasion,was definitely not the case. The students did an absolutely great job,and we send all at Colours are good wishes.

Myself and my wife and daughter called in at lunch it was excellent,from the service to the food I called in to the restaurant to have some lunch as a treat with my family. We were treated to a 5 star two course meal and service the food was excellent and the young girl and boy was so professional and frendly. Our meal and experience was one of the best I have had for a long time .it is a must to try.......

I was passing through the North West and stumbled across this gem of an establishment in St Helens. We were greeted with a warm and professional manner and there was a great ambience around the restaurant. The food was impeccable and some great variety on the menu. One of our group was a vegan and this was totally accommodated by the team. Will be back next time we’re in town!

Had our Christmas dinner and can honestly say that it was perfect absolutely delicious

My mum who is 84 and her friends save up all year to go for a Christmas meal. My mum and her friends were ill after the meal. The food was awful. The sprouts were very hard the potatoes were also solid. The soup had no taste. The meat was chewy. What a waste of their money. My mum was really sick after. Will not be going again or recommending it to anyone

Family Christmas meal - not good. Food just warm especially the soup turkey a little over cooked and Christmas pudding warm but brandy sauce cold.Ordered a Gin & tonic came in a half pint larger glass no ice or lemon slice not ideal.Feel standards have slipped a little

Really good experience. Had a meal tonight for partners birthday and the young trainees are good but we could tell the difference to the 1st time we went in March this year. The academic year began a few weeks ago whereas it was 3/4 of the way through in March and the trainees were more experienced. Would definitely go again

I trust the food, the hygiene etc. Never had a bad experience. It’s a shame other local restaurants don’t have the same standards.

We had a lovely relaxed meal. The food was lovely and the service was friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much.

The restaurant itself is stylish and modern and spotlessly clean. The quality of the fine dining food is exceptional and very well presented. The restaurant offers a great wine list too - all at affordable prices. You’ll get a warm welcome from Antonio and the staff and students from St Helens college. Highly recommend a visit including for any special occasions to this little gem of a place.

Just returned from Colours restaurant after enjoying one of the best 3 course meals i've ever experienced. I can't believe that more people aren't taking advantage of the superb deals that are being offered by this very capable establishment. For a limited period, 3 course lunch with coffee and bottle of wine per table is unbelievable value for money at £9 per person!. Service was impeccable and food was plentiful and delicious. As a very discerning frequenter of restaurants, I can highly recommend Colours restaurant and have already booked my next meal here before it sadly closes for the summer.

thank you for an amazing night Antonio and his lovely staff, the starter was beautiful, I had goats cheese, my friends had mushroom soup and salmon all top standard. my main course was the best duck I have ever had and my friends was loving the lamb. dessert yummy toffee fudge cake and cheese and biscuits. all so good. thanks again. will definitely come again 😁😁😁🤩❤

Very good food with three or four choices. Very spacious restaurant with a relaxing atmosphere. The students are all learning their trade under the watchful eyes of excellent tutors. The students are very helpful and love to have feedback. We have eaten here many times and never ever been disappointed. Extensive wine list on offer.

My wife took me my birthday on Valentines day. We were not very impressed with the food and service. Nearly al of the food was spicy and and I do not do spicy food. Would not go again.

Food standards kept high prices reasonable, well worth a visit.

Never normally review restaurants but this place totally deserves a review and a good one at that! Took family for mother’s day - the food, the service, the ambience, the value - everything was perfect. Couldn’t fault it. We’ll be back without a doubt!

Excellent food and service really enjoyed

Went today for the first time an all I can say is “WOW” absolutley lovely tasty well cooked food and presentation was excellent 👌 the service was also fabulous very proffessional and very attentive it was an amazing fine dining experience 🍽.

Yet another visit to colours and once again we were well impressed.A couple of starters , soup of the day plus Crispy crab very nice. Moved on to mains , wife had Pork fillet with savoury farc , the pork was excellent, well cooked and very tasty but she was not that impressed with the savoury farc. I tried the pan fried chicken and onion & fennel bhaji with a mild spiced sauce, the chicken was excellent , very tasty and juicy the bhaji was quite spicy but was offset by the mild spiced sauce, one of the best chicken dishes I have had for a long time.

Visited Colours with a party of friends last week. Food was very good and most importantly was hot, as was the plates. Nothing worse than cold plates when having a hot meal.The staff were very pleasant and efficient, obviously well trained. Tables nicely set up and a very pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant. Overall a very pleasant experience

What a fantastic afternoon our family experienced today at this lovely restaurant run with training chefs and waiters.....certainly some bright stars for the future hospitality industry. Led by top professionals who guide and inspire the students to provide top class food and excellent service.

Just eaten at this restaurant and had a lovely evening. Fine dining in a relaxed environment. The food is sublime and the service excellent. Cannot recommend Colours enough, will be eating here again.

I visited this restaurant for the first time as a guest at a family members 80th birthday meal. The food was very well prepared and the staff, although training, were very pleasant.

A Great Christmas Lunch experience, catering for a party of 42 across 3 tables. Served with courtesy and no mistakes on orders. Food was hot and well prepared. We were not rushed. All left content and full-up!! We think we will book again for next Christmas, we were so impressed.

Absolutely beautiful Xmas Lunch on Friday.The food was as good if not better than some so called top notch restaurants. Service was spot on and as I have said previously you would not think they were students.Top marks to everyone for value, service, food, presentation and an all round great day.

Came here for a family celebration. Great Sunday lunch menu and excellent value for money. It is a training restaurant attached to the college but you would never guess. The service food and attention to detail are second to none.

WOW! Was extremely impressed by the service and high standards set by this restaurant. We were a party of 12 all the food was exquisite. I had the soup which was tomato and red pepper, main course chicken breast and amazing sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Excellent value for money, will not hesitate to return. Also thankyou to the young gentleman waiter who took pictures of our group for us at the end of the meal, shame I cant remeber his name.

Went for lunch with some work colleagues, warmly greeted on arrival and offered complimentary wine or soft drinks , seated by bar and given menus , ordered our meals shown to our table and introduced to our server.the food was excellent, service was brilliant and price even better. Four of us decided to go out for a Sunday lunch and have t9 say it was a great choice of venue -

As a group of 8 of us had come to visit Liverpool for a museum exhibition, and we were staying in the area, finding somewhere to eat early evening was tricky on a Saturday night, without previously booking.... but with TripAdvisor in hand, we thought we’d give colours a try.

Fabulous Food 🥗 Great Service and Wonderful Atmosphere 😊 . If your looking for somewhere to eat in St Helens you could go to anywhere better.

Despite one of the staff accidentally spilling a glass of wine over our feet & floor while we were waiting for our table, no harm done, another great dining experience at what must be one of St Helens best restaurants. We just keep looking forward to the new college terms and new menus and once again we were not disappointed, not a extensive menu but more than enough to satisfy us and it makes for a easier selection process.

Colours is quite easily the best restaurant in St Helens. Excellent food and really great service every time.

What a wonderful afternoon, this was the end of season barbecue. The food was fantastic and beautifully cooked by the chefs. Fantastic value for the price and will be going back soon. Thanks to all the staff for making it a wonderful afternoon.

This is my first visit to the restaurant and it will definitely not be my last! I took my mother there for a birthday dinner recently and was overwhelmed by the quality of food especially for the amazing price. The restaurant manager Antonio was impeccable, as was his professionalism with the staff as the service made us feel like VIP’s! A unique experience which I wasn’t expecting as a Southerner I’ve experienced quite a few top gourmet meals in London, so for me this restaurant must indeed be a credit to St Helens! Can’t wait to come back here.
