Despite being advertised as being open, they were not, which is why they did not answer the phone for 2 days.

Much the same thoughts as recent reviews, maybe not `overpriced` but more not value for money, I reckon by about 25% based on what I ate and saw served to others.I had `home made pate`, it was very cold in the centre and lacked flavour, might have been home made and then home frozen but just not great.My main was a breaded chicken breast with spaghetti in tomato sauce, again no flavour to the chicken with the too perfect shape and too perfect ruskolene crumb coating.On the plus side the mussels starter was excellent, pizzas good though not too generous with the toppings.

Had a beautiful meal here on Friday Night for my Birthday food was Excellent and Service was 1st class.Was made to feel so welcome from the minute I arrived to the minute I left . I am sure the couples either side of me thought I was a regular eater here. I have only ate here twice before and many years ago. Staff were making me feel so. special even came out with a treat at the end for me with ice cream and a flame thrower candle and got the whole restaurant sing happy birthday. Defo recommend for food and the 1st class friendly staff .

Monday evening reservation at 6,30 and only a handful of tables occupied therefore very little atmosphereService very prompt to the extent we had finished main course and dessert and left the restaurant by 7.15The food itself was very good albeit the portions were far too small and the price way over the top for a small town restaurant Out of the five restaurants we visited in our week stay in North Berwick unfortunately this is the only one to which we would not return

Disappointed with our meal. The garlic bread was dry and we couldn’t taste the garlic, some of the calamari was rubbery and overcooked, but to get only four king prawns in my main course pasta dish was diabolical! Oh, it also had one cherry tomato cut in half alongside the small portion of pasta! On complaining, I was only offered two more prawns. I don’t mind paying more for a meal if the food is top notch, but we didn’t have this experience. When it came to the bill, they charged us for a starter sized portion of the king prawn pasta rather than main, but we certainty have no desire to go there again.

Very average and very over priced food. The house wine is poor. Felt like we were doing them a favour dining there. No ambiance at all. Overall a very underwhelming dining experience and would not go back. Sorry but we wouldn’t recommend

Enjoyed a nice meal here last year, so we returned this year. Like most, if not all places in North Berwick, prices appear to have gone up, doubtless as a result of COVID restrictions earlier in the year, so not as great value as previously, but great service and nice food. Takeaways also available if you have pets.

Having visited this restaurant many times in the past for dinner and always received excellent food and service we decided to visit for lunch. On arrival the restaurant was empty, the waiter who was there did not greet us, he just asked if we had booked and we confirmed we hadn’t. He said I can give you this table which was right beside the door to the kitchen. Our experience on this occasion was totally different to the past. Pros - food excellent again so compliments to the chef. Cons - no welcome on arrival, waiter gave impression he did not want to be there or for customers to be there either, order brought out but no offer of pepper or Parmesan cheese, did not come back to ask if meal was ok, took main course plates away but did not ask if we would like dessert or coffee, asked for bill and paid but no thank you. Unfortunately if this is your standard of service although your food remains excellent we will certainly not return or recommend to others.

After a lovely day on at the fringe listening to music, we stumbled across this little gem for dinner. We had previously tried a different Italian round the corner, but the waiters were so rude we just walked out. Thank god we did because we ended up here, and it was simply beautiful. Such a warm welcome from Emilia and from all the staff, so polite and helpful. The food was authentic and super tasty too. Strongly recommend.

We came to Cucina Amore for a birthday meal. The meal started off well, quick service, lovely food and the Italian waiter made us feel very welcome and made the meal special by bringing desert with a sparkler and singing happy birthday. Unfortunately, we ordered a second round of drinks but they were taking too long to arrive and we had another booking, so asked for the bill. When we were given the bill, the extra drinks were included on it. We told the waitress we didn’t receive the second drinks and she went to speak to who we assume is the manager/owner. The manger then came across and accused us of lying and told us she watched her daughter bring the drinks to the table. When we said we hadn’t received them she still question us and told us, since our glasses were cold they much have been recent drinks, which they were not. She made us feel extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed when she was in the wrong and ruined the meal for us. The younger waitress (we think her daughter) and the other staff were all lovey, and they did grudgingly refund the drinks that we did not receive, unfortunately the presumed manager’s attitude towards us had already spoilt the experience for us.

At the present moment I've just completed the most beautiful Italian meal I've had in years . Pan fried chicken breast baby tomatoes and chilli sauce with pan fried carrots and broccoli words cannot describe the flavours in this meal ( fantastic) chicken breast done to perfection so please to all you trip advisor fans visit this stunning restaurant for the best food ever ! The staff are also amazing! Friendly, polite and fun at the same time.

The food is absolutely outstanding! I had the carbonara and my boyfriend had amatriciana, afterwards a tirimisu and all were delicious. The service was brilliant too.

Was a Sunday night so a bit quiet but that was ok. Service was good and waiter sang a very strong Happy Birthday to another table which was impressively loud. Pasta starter was good and salad too. However the Italian Sausage Pizza tasted good but for the price was a little plain. Just a standard cheese and tomato pizza with 6 thin slices of pepperoni type sausage. Looked ordinary and would have expected a bit more. Otherwise good hence the 4 stars overall. I have been before and I remember better so give it a go.

The lady who answered the phone was not very polite but the men serving were friendly and the food was very good. I liked the fact that I could have a starter sized portion of the main course if Iwanted. I really enjoyed the food tho the drinks were a bit pricey.

My friend and I went in for lunch, the restaurant was empty. We were asked if we had a booking, no we didn’t. Reply was that they should only take guests if they have a booking (COVID rules) but write down name and phone number. We were shown to a table and told we could only stay for 1 hour as we hadn’t booked (COVID rules). We said ok, looked at menu. Then I was told to remove my handbag from seat next to me (COVID rules). That was the last straw. We told waiter what we thought and walked out. We went over to No 12 where we were welcomed by a young staff and received first class food and service-all within COVID rules!!

What a lovely find. Portions generous. Dishes delicious - fresh, pizzas excellent as was our amatriciana (best we have had out) - all the food looked excellent and Franco, our waiter was a character - warm and charismatic. Can easily recommend. Am sure it’s probably hard to get a table when summer is here.

Tempted recently to have lunch or dinner at an open air restaurant with scenic views near the harbour but the cold wind even on a sunny day is one of North Berwick's few drawbacks. Didn't fancy self and food being chilled. And chose the warmth comfort and quiet setting of nearby Cucina Amore five minutes up Victoria Road from the Seabird Centre. The Italian Kitchen is its other title. Never been disappointed with choice, quality and service. (Closed Tuesdays.)

We visited as a family for my birthday and really enjoyed the food. The starters were lovely, I had a crab special and my husband had the prawn cocktail, which was a very generous portion. The pizzas were fantastic, really tasty and a very light and crispy base. Service was good and I’d definitely recommend/would return again.

We booked a table for 4pm for an early dinner to try and avoid any crowds with the covid situation. We were the only diners in at this time, but it was OK the ambiance of the place was lovely,The food did not disappoint either. The Gamberoni in white wine and garlic sauce were sensational. We enjoyed every part of our meal. Oh and the Nutella Cheesecake!!!!!The service was lovely too.. A fab experience at Cucuina Amore! We will be back.

There was a mix up about the time of our booking, however, Emilia, the owner, called to let us know. The restaurant closes from 2:30 until 5 pm We went in at 2pm and ordered our meal , which was superb, and Emilia invited us to relax and stay as long as we liked once the food had been served. The chefs finsihed at 2;30pm. The minestrone soup was absoluetly fabulous as was the fresh crusty bread. The pasta dishes were so tasty and very filling after the hearty soup so we took what we couldn't finish away with us. The other star of the show was Emilia who made us feel very welcome and was a delight to chat to. We were encroaching on her break time but she didn't make us feel that anything was too much trouble. Worth a visit if you're in North Berwick.

Booked a table last week and unfortunately the person got the booking wrong, however the owner called and offered to give up her break and accommodate us before the chefs left for an afternoon break, couldn’t be more impressed with the service and the food, first class in all aspects definitely worth a visit

We had dinner here on Saturday night, the food was delicious and fresh. The pizza was great and the desserts were amazing! Definitely will be back!

The food was what we would expect from an Italian, however not noticeably better (or worse) than other Italians we’ve been to & slightly higher priced. Around £15 for a main of pasta or pizza & £25 for bottle of wine. Staff were very friendly & helpful - good service. An average Italian restaurant with good food & fair menu.

We visited Cucina Amore twice during our stay in North Berwick. We felt very comfortable with the social distancing procedures and everything was spotlessly clean. The food was excellent on both occasions. Service was very good and the staff remembered us on our second visit and made us feel extremely welcome. We will definitely be making table reservations there again during our next visit to this lovely town.

We are here on Wednesday evening and the food was excellent, I had the veal which was cooked beautifully and my husband d had the chicken escalope. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and observed all the rules for safe distance and cleanliness.

Ate here last Monday (14th) with my wife. Restaurant observed all social distancing etc. so we felt very safe. Food was very good with friendly waiter and reasonable prices for North Berwick. Had a takeaway pizza later on in the week and that too was excellent.

Very nice Italian resturant, authentic with the most amazing pizzas. The chips were home made and super nice. Great value, lovely service. No tableclothes but thats possibly due to the current restictions.

My wife and I visited North Berwick in September and we booked this restaurant for our anniversary dinner. The food was fantastic.....extremely authentic Italian food!!! the hosts were even better ....they made us so welcome and we had some great banter. I would definitely recommend this restaurant when visiting NB.

The food was very below par. There was no child’s menu. There was no pepperoni pizza, or Hawaiian. The pizzas that did arrive were on a wafer thin crisp/burnt base and the tomato base sauce wasn’t up to scratch. I could have dealt with the food and have forgotten about it without writing a review, if it wasn’t for the attitude of the waiter. He was rude and dismissive. When asked if we could have ketchup for a child’s pizza, he said “there’s tomato sauce on a margarita pizza mate”, not good... We left as soon as we could. I really wish that this could have been the highlight of our day trip to North Berwick. Such a disappointment.

What can I say Food so fresh and delicious Pizzas made fresh Pasta to die for with flavour mmmmm And the ice cream snowball surprise is so good And staff are so friendly Can’t wait till my next visit there

Friendly staff serving well cooked food, specials board had locally caught seafood that was awesome.

Great little family run restaurant. Visited for an anniversary dinner on a Wedensday. night, glad we booked as they unfortunately had to turn some people away.. We both ate form the specials menu, Lobster pasta was an absolute treat, and my wife's Spagetti Vongole was very nice indeed. Prices are reasonable, and portions are the perfect size, a bottle of house wine is about £19. .The Staff are attentive and welcoming without being too over bearing, service is delivered with a smile and nothing is an issue. Highly worth a visit.

A warm welcome and a really beautiful meal. We had the lasagne al forno and the vegetarian lasagne. Both were the best lasagnes we have had - really delicious - compliments to the chef. My child had a pizza - lovely thin base and plenty of toppings. We will be returning!

Friendly staff fou d a last minute table for us and made feel very welcome. This restaurant is Italian classics done well, the chef adds some flourishes which I think makes this restaurant stand out. Every dish executed well and price is reasonable for the high quality. Would definitely try again. We tried pizza, fresh mushroom ravioli and venison in cream and tarragon sauce, all excellent

The most entertaining way to order a takeaway pizza as the guy on the phone was a true Italian gent. Collected our pizzas and once back at our caravan our family devoured them!! Totally delicious & very much like the pizzas we previously had in Rome. We would highly recommend the food & the staff were a total delight to speak to.

As a family of 9, we celebrated my Siste-In-Law's Birthday.Not only was the food first class but the welcoming atmosphere was second to none.To top it off Franco sang Happy Birthday which was epic. Beautiful, clean and brilliant with the current Covid situation. We are going back Friday and we don't normally do a restreaunt twice on holiday. Had a family lunch here as it had re-opened post the lockdown. Been before on a number of occasions and the service has been friendly and the food has been good. We all had pizza and these were nice.

Food is very very nice,prices quite ok but the waitress was so unwelcoming and rude,ruined our mood. Shame,place was quite ok. Don’t think we’ll be coming back:)

Myself, my wife, my kids and my 2 grandbabies ate here, not only was the food and service fantastic, the owner drove my wife and I with the wee ones back to our hotel because the weather was shocking. Can't thank them enough. Will be back

Found this restaurant the second night of our stay in north berwick and can honestly say one of the best Italians we had had. Very welcoming staff we great i would eat here again

I booked a table for 25th January to celebrate my sisters birthday. On arrival the very friendly man who is front-of-house greeted us with a warm smile and took us to a spotlessly clean table and made us feel very welcome. Our food was delicious and piping hot and all three of us were of the same opinion. Then we heard birthday celebration music and the lovely Italian man arrived with ice cream and a sparkler. He was singing to my sister and dancing. We were all helpless because it was so unexpected and made us all feel so happy, especially the birthday girl. The lovely Italian lady who (I think) is joint owner and very friendly said that she would not charge us for desert. Again, it was so unexpected and very unusual to see such kindness, but not in an Italian restaurant and we felt really honoured by her kindness. It really was a fabulous meal and for all staff to have gone the extra mile made it very special for my sister. Cucina Amore is now our favourite restaurant and our first port of call when we visit North Berwick. I highly recommend it for delicious food; fantastic service (with a smile) and a great ambience. 10/10 for every meal we have enjoyed there.

Sunday night dinner whilst on a weekend break in North Berwick. Restaurant not too busy but lovely atmosphere and great service. The food was very good and the range of specials was a real treat. We had a very good antipasti to share and then specials pappardelle with wild boar ragu and sea bass with squid ink and mussel tagliatelle. Superb

Food was absolutely amazing but took second place in a race between itself and the staff. Not many restaurants welcome you in as if you are a long lost family member, then embrace (and dance) with you as you are leaving. WE WILL BE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lovely traditional Italian food but so impressed with the staff - everyone was so friendly from the moment I phoned to book.

Cute little place in the city centre of North Berwick. They customized one of their pasta dishes on request with the meat removed and penne replaced with spaghetti. One of the best creamy tomato pasta sauces I've eaten. Light but creamy at the same time. We liked the veggie pizza as well. Their house red wine was yum too. Polite, friendly service. The food was slightly overpriced, but was worth it. Will definitely revisit when we come back to North Berwick.

We come to North Berwick every year, sometimes twice and have always book Cucina Amore. Its never let us down. The family who run it are so warm and friendly and remember us all the time which is lovely. Its always the best meal of our trip and this time was no different. A combination of warm and friendly service, great food and nice surroundings. I really love coming here. We eat out at most of the town’s restaurants when we visit and this is our favourite. After tonights meal i’m already looking forward to going back. Recommended.

My wife and I returned to Cucina Amore (in context the name means “cooking (with) love” or “(a) cuisine (of) love”) two years after our last visit. We enjoyed the restaurant a lot the first time, and thought it would be a brilliant restaurant for our younger son and his wife and three young children, who were on holiday with us in Dunbar. And so it proved.

We’ve eaten here quite a few times over the past 5 years or so and it always delivers. Friendly, attentive service and freshly cooked tasty food. House wine was good too (both red and white). An extremely safe bet all round.

We have been for a few meals here and the food is really good - traditional Italian but with some great ingredients especially seafood options. It’s midrange in price.

Excellent steak and delicious veal. Reasonably priced and unpretentious pleasant atmosphere with friendly & professional staff. We will come back.

My family and I decided to book here before coming to North Berwick. The staff were attentive and lovely, the house red extremely palatable and the food very tasty. The portion sizes were more than satisfactory. £150 for 5 people who had 2 courses each, 2 bottles of wine, 2 cokes and a soda and lime....great night at a more than affordable price.

We booked ahead and were warmly greeted with a nice table. The service was good; we weren't hurried and it was all a nice pace. As one of us was driving we had glasses of house wine which was very nice however, there was only one size to choose from and it would have been nice to be able to order a large (250ml) glass. The food was very tasty although the starter of king prawns was a bit pricey for a few prawns with rocket. Well worth a visit and we would return

My husband booked a table for 4 last Saturday to celebrate my birthday with my family. I telephoned ahead to say we were running 5 mins late ans was told that was not a problem. When we arrived we were given a table right at the door and surrounded by other occupied tables. It was very busy and drafty as the door was open. I asked if we could have another table at the other side of the restaurant which had been just vacated. I was told that all the tables at the other side of the restaurant were prebooked but she would check with the owner. She came back and said we could move but if the people who had booked the table complained when they arrive, we would have to move!

Tres bonne cuisine italienne. La carte a l'extérieur nous avais fait hésiter car assez classique mais les plats se sont avérés délicieux. Nous avons prix les plats du jours et retrouvé les goûts des produits frais cuisinés comme dans les restaurants en italie. Tres bon vin Italien et accueil très sympa.

Turned up on a Saturday evening with no booking and every where else seemingly booked out. We were given a table even though there were later reservations and the meal we received was faultless.

We didn't book but were given a table and glad we were. The staff were friendly and efficient and the waitress (manageress?} advised us of the specials, one of which I had.

We ended up having three meals here during our time in North Berwick and they were all excellent. Service is incredible and the owners are fantastic. Just can't say enough good things about this restaurant - starters, main dishes, desserts - all great and friendly folks who care that you are there!

Friendly welcome, good choice from the a la carte menu and great food. What more can be said. The food was well cooked and came reasonably quickly. The restaurant wasn’t too busy for a Saturday although it was getting busier when we left around 2.00. Average prices but worth a visit.

Went for dinner during our stay in North Berwick. Found the restaurant with the most authentic Italian food we could find - and being from Munich we know traditional italian food! Service was very friendly and fast. The food was all freshly made to order. Very nice. We’ll come back soon!

What a beautifully presented restaurant with excellent service and fabulous food. This is top notch Italian fare, making good use of locally sourced seafood. The specials were to die for - my spaghetti with clams was delicious, my wife had seabass - also delicious there was also Lobster on the specials board at £28 which is good value. The kids had muscles and pizza both of which were lovely. We will definitely be back - probably as an adult couple for dinner. Highly recommended.

Husband had an enormous Calzone which had some very tasty spicy sausage and I was able to fulfill a desire and try Spaghetti Vongole. One of the tastiest dishes I've eaten.Welcome from Emelia is always so warm and friendly, she's a really lovely lady. Highly recommend Cucina Amore to one and all.

Visited the restaurant to enjoy an unannounced birthday dinner. The food was fantastic, cooked to perfection, fresh, tasty and delicious. One of our party had the fish dish of the day and enjoyed every morsel (see picture). We had a various selection from the menu and everything was perfect. The staff overheard us mentioning that it was part of a birthday celebration and changed the music to a birthday song as they delivered a surprise Roman candle with the homemade deserts. I recommend this restaurant if you’re in North Berwick and looking for a good restaurant. Staff very friendly and welcoming.

Thid is sn Italian restaurant in every way that just happens to be in Scotland. Stefano, our waiter, guided us through ordering and his recommendations were spot-on.

10/10 For food, service and ambiance. We found this restaurant by chance and it was completely excellent.

excellent meal on Saturday 8th June, staff very friendly, we had a lovely night all round ! Ravioli stuffed with haggis was gorgeous as was the pizza and red wine !

We were at the Cucina Amore 2 months ago, and were back last night. We tried the haggis ravioli with the whisky cream sauce, and it was delicious. The chicken and aubergines was also very nice. The wine was lovely and the staff very helpful and friendly - a lovely night out.

This is an unpretentious and friendly restaurant with wonderful food and service. The menu has many options, but we both chose dishes that had the house special sauce and we were moaning with delight. Franco and Cecilia (not sure of that spelling) add a personal touch that we loved. To get a full meal of salad, two entrees, cocktails and excellent bottle of wine, and the affogato with amaretto for dessert for under 80 pounds seemed like a bargain. Thank you, L'Osteria, for being booked and sending us down the street.

In North Berwick for the weekend and booked ahead based on reviews and gluten free options for one the party. Everyone in the group loved the food - specials and main menu items. Service was very friendly. Would highly recommend Cucina Amore. Grateful thanks to the owner who went above and beyond when we couldn’t get a taxi to get back to our accommodation.

Visiting Archerfield but didn’t want to eat there so went into trip advisor and came across this one. What a find!!! We felt part of a family the moment we went in. The service was extremely attentive and the food was fantastic. Shame this place wasn’t nearer to home, if it was we would be regulars. The ambiance was lovely, spotless modern with a rustic cozy feel. I just can’t fault it.

My wife and I plus our 2 friends visited this restaurant on a Saturday night and were not disappointed. Th food was excellent I had minestrone soup for starters which was homemade and delicious followed by escallope of veal milanaise and a knickerbocker glory for dessert all washed down with a nice bottle of chianti and the rest of our party enjoyed their food too. The restaurant manager we found to have a very good personality and all this contributed to a good atmosphere/ evening. The only negative was the choice of music played which detracted from our enjoyment slightly but I gather that it was for the benefit of a hen party who tend to go in for bubblegum music so entirely understandable although we would rather have listened to stirring Italian music

We loved Cucina Amore. The staff ensured that everything we wanted and needed was provided, including things for our two year old who doesn’t eat “normally” as she’s tube fed, but they gave her bits to graze on whilst we eat our beautiful starters mains and desserts. As it was my wife’s birthday, the hosts surprised her with a lovely cake which was a great touch. I couldn’t fault the food or the service. It’s well worth a visit

Four of us arrived without a booking and were welcomed and seated immediately. First rate personal attentive service. We had starters, mains and desserts, and all the dishes were served promptly. The food was, quite clearly, freshly prepared and cooked to order. Where appropriate, the plates were hot when they arrived.

Lunch for 7 with one gluten free. As usual in an Italian, no problems re GF and dishes adjusted to suit. Service was great as was the food and wine.

We visited for lunch on Easter weekend as a party of 4 adults, a 3 y/o and a sleeping 1 y/o. The staff were great and made us very welcome, making space for the buggy. They also made pesto pasta when the 3 y/o asked for ‘easy peasy pasta’. Lovely food and very accommodating family business.

Greeted well on arrival and shown to our table. No rush to order from the lovely menu, ordered drinks and water and they came quickly.

As part of a family birthday celebration an excellent meal was enjoyed here. The warm welcome from staff was followed by great service and everyone in the party of eight enjoyed the food which was to a good standard at very reasonable prices. We would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

On holiday for a few days in North Berwick this restaurant was just round the corner from our apartment. The staff were extremely pleasant and personable and made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The antipasto was ample for 2 with a selection of meats ; cheeses,olives and roasted veg. It went down a treat. The pollo Milanese went down a treat and the seafood lasagne was delicious. No room foe dessert but the coffee was good ,strong and hot.

Thoroughly enjoyed our group visit there but found the portions on the small size for the prices charged. All drinks also on the pricey side.The food however is excellent, with a good choice and well prepared and very tasty. Staff also very attentive

Had a meal here recently. Service was good polite but not very warm. Food was nice but felt it was a bit pricey for the rather small portions. Had cheesecake for dessert and base was far to thick - could barely get my fork or spoon through it.

Booked the night before and was given an earlier time than hoped which bamboozled me slightly as it never got overly busy. That apart the food and service was very good. Would definitely go back.

This is a family run Italian restaurant where you receive a great welcome and are served efficiently. The menu is standard but there are lots of specials. The staff are friendly and adjust the menu to suit individual requirements. I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant. Enjoy!

Brilliant night out here tonight. 8 in our party food was delicious no one was left waiting for their order. Service is great, staff very friendly and really kind to my nephews, the youngest of whom was so intrigued by the kitchen he was offered a guided tour. The restaurant is also very clean and a lovely environment. I could not recommend enough and we will definitely be back.

I was treated to a weekend away for my birthday and popped into this lovely Italian for a meal. The staff were welcoming and polite, and the meal was all very authentic, homemade and delicious. The staff went the extra mile and played a happy birthday song to me (to my embarrassment) and gave us our desert on the house. This was a lovely touch and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits north Berwick and look forward to coming back here again . Thanks again, from the couple from kyle x
