Deli Fresco in Edinburgh, City of

We had early breakfast in this small deli with our family of 5. Menu and the whole experience were something out of the ordinary. Everything was made to order and really good, for example the wonderful toasted strawberry and brie filled croissant. We enjoyed also the thoughtful service as we ordered even something outside of the menu. Prices reasonable.

I was walking to Starbucks and this little place caught my eye. So glad I found it. Great egg sandwiches and pastries. Coffee was great. People were super friendly. Very glad I skipped Starbucks and found something a bit more authentic.

Found this great place today and felt so welcome. Staff were lovely, food was really fantastic. My son had the Piri Piri Panini and I had the Pulled Pork. Very reasonable food and great choice. We will certainly be back.

I walk past Deli Fresco every morning on my way to work and at least once a week treat myself to a scrambled egg roll, which never fails to satisfy. Their coffee is also excellent. I have chatted many times now with the staff and they couldn't be any more welcoming and friendly. I would highly recommend Deli Fresco to anyone looking for a quick bite to eat.

As we was walking to our car to leave Edinburgh, we seen this place! Why is it always on your last day somewhere you find that hidden gem! We would of been here everyday if we known! Breakfast was just outstanding, and very reasonable priced! Staff were very friendly and helpful, Thankyou!

My colleagues and I found this small little deli for breakfast one morning and came back every day for more of the great food and charm. The owner and staff were very friendly and gave us lots of great suggestions for places to find live music. The “I Love Scotland” breakfast sandwich with brown sauce is probably the best hearty breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. Got it 3 days in a row and then got it on the 4th without the bread.

It is but a little corner tucked on the side of the Leith Street as one walks by, and this place it seems runs of food by late lunch hours each day. They were out of some dishes by the time we went in. All the same, we dealt with two persons behind the counter, and they were most helpful and quick with service. Food was good, and the team was very helpful with directions too.

Great food. Really lovely ambience. Plus I was allowed to sort of create my own panini. 🤗. Staff friendly and attentive. Wish I had room for desert.

Stopped in for a late lunch with my family when we were visiting Edinburgh for the day. The lady behind the counter was so lovely and patient, especially with my 4yr old daughter. The food was also tasty and very reasonably priced, would not hesitate to recommend. Hope we have the chance to pop back again.

Mycket mysigt ställe, inte så stort men desto större service. Bra och god mat. Dom hjälpte oss även att kolla bussar och lite tider. Fanns kanske inte så mycket att välj på men det räckte. Rekommenderar gröten!

Dropped in for a quick coffee and pastry rather than hitting the large chain around the corner and were greeted with smiles, friendliness, and prompt service. Our coffee and snacks were on point and gave us the verve to continue our walk to Edinburgh Castle.

We ate other food at Deli Fresco, but on a cold Scottish day, why would you bother with anything other than porridge? All the food was good though.

Estaba mojado y teníamos hambre. Antes de volver a nuestro alojamiento para secarnos, necesitábamos un bocadillo y cuando rechazamos Leith Walk descubrimos el Deli Fresco. Los sándwiches panani que elegimos eran con salmón y con salchicha y brie (un especial). Eran muy sabrosos, servidos por gente amable detrás de un mostrador en un espacio bastante concurrido. Había una corriente constante de clientes "para llevar". Nos sentamos en taburetes junto a la ventana y observamos las grúas gigantes en el enorme edificio al otro lado de la calle. Entonces la lluvia paró y seguimos adelante.

No había oído hablar de esto o visto reseñas de Tripadvisor, antes de tambalearme después de un largo viaje en tren desesperado por el almuerzo. Solo cuando estábamos sentados vimos el certificado de Excelencia. Parece un poco desaliñado por fuera y es bastante pequeño, pero cuando entras y ves el menú, te das cuenta de que esto es algo especial. El personal era muy hablador y amable, aunque luego nos dimos cuenta de que habíamos llegado justo cuando estaban a punto de cerrar. La comida era excelente.

Excelente local para ir com os amigos. Fui numa hora pouco movimentada maus valeu demais. O wisky super barato e o local bem animado, no centro de Edimburgo.

Prezzi onesti, buona la qualità. Molto gentili le commesse. Assolutamente consigliato per un pranzo veloce da asporto. Tavoli disponibili dentro, ma poco posto.

Il miglior espresso ad Edimburgo tra i tanti provati! Veramente simile al caffè italiano ed anche il costo è piuttosto "basso" visti i prezzi medi del centro (1.70 a fronte di 2 di media). I camerieri poi sono veramente gentili ed amichevoli, disponibili anche a dare qualche indicazione e consiglio sui posti in zona. Non abbiamo provato nulla da mangiare, ma quando torneremo ad Edimburgo lo faremo sicuramente: le pietanze avevano un ottimo profumo ed aspetto. Consigliato sicuramente!

Fuimos allí para el desayuno dado el cajón los comentarios en este sitio. Es un lugar minúsculo. Apenas puedes matar una mosca. Los pedidos para ir o quedarse. Yo pedí huevos revueltos con salchichas y una patata bollo. Lo que me dieron fue un panino con huevos revueltos y salchichas dentro. ¿eh? Resulta que sólo panini o envolturas. El huevo era bastante sosa panino Mi esposa tenía en realidad pedí un panino (mediterráneo) dijo que era bueno. El café estaba bueno. Los precios son una buena relación calidad-precio en Edimburgo. El personal era amable y acogedor. Era muy ruidoso, con clientes esperando para llevar hablando sobre la música. Por otro lado, es un gran lugar para observar a la gente si tienes una silla junto a la ventana.

Tiny cafe on Leith Street, friendly owners, good coffee, and lovely scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, all very reasonable priced. Great spot for breakfast.

I have visited on and off for years. Popped in recently and everything was as faultless as ever. A friendly, non-corporate local business and a refreshing alternative to the bland and samey chains which surround it.

Stumbled on this place while searching for somewhere to have breakfast. We had a delicious vegan gf sandwich. Everything was made fresh.. Staff was very friendly. We really enjoyed everything about it!

Este era nuestro lugar favorito para desayunar tanto para la comida excelente y el personal amable. No es un gran lugar pero tiene mostradores donde se puede ver el mundo mientras come. Estaban contentos para cocinar el desayuno para nosotros aunque normalmente llegó después de la hora del desayuno. Me encantó el "porridge" y mi marido disfrutó de los huevos revueltos y salchichas en un rollo de ciabatta. Están cerrados los fines de semana.

Just stumbled on this place looking for breakfast. I am currently enjoying the best porridge and a proper cup of tea. Lots of otherbreakfast options. If you are looking for an alternative breakfast place rather than unimpressive hotel offerings, give this place a try. Lovely.

Stayed in Edinburgh for four nights last week at Travel Inn round corner and found Deli Fresca just by accident when looking for somewhere to have breakfast on Friday morning. We tried the bacon rolls the first day which were delicious as were the cups of latte and both reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly,cafe wasclean and tidy and the sandwich fillers looked delicious. We were so impressed we returned twice for breakfast which we thoroughly enjoyed. Disappointed on the Saturday to find premises closed and unfortunately where we did find a breakfast that morning did not match up to Deli Fresca in any way. Would recommend this small but very good cafe and hope to visit again well done Deli Fresca - you've got it just right.

Visited Edinburgh last week--stayed at hotel up the street--walking home stopped at deli for quick lunch. Great selection. Brought back two friends the next day after golf.

The staff at Deli are always amazing and really friendly and helpful, Great for breakfast and lunch it is always really clean. considering where it is also the prices are very reasonable for the food you are served.

Stunned from our flight over, we found ourselves near Waverley Station in Edinburgh in the early AM hungry. We were loaded down with luggage and were too cheap to spring for the high cost of luggage storage until our train was scheduled, so we walked around the immediate neighborhood looking for food.Deli Fresco doesn't look like much from the outside (or inside for that matter) being a small storefront cafe, but we didn't know where else to go and were just ready for anything. The staff were friendly and welcoming, even though our luggage took up a couple of extra seats of their small indoor seating area. We ordered coffee and some breakfast sandwiches. The coffee was very hot and fresh and tasted like heaven after our airline coffee! The sandwiches were huge! I ordered an "I Love Scotland" which is sort of a Scottish breakfast on a roll. It was delicious, but I could only finish half of it. It is certainly not a dieter's meal! The rest they wrapped for me to have later. I tasted our son's smoked salmon and scrambled egg sandwich, which was also very good.Being such a small space, the air was a little close inside, which is why they only got a "4 star", but on a nicer day, eating outside, it would be great.

Delicious paninis and great service! Big selection and freshly made as you watch. Unfortunately located next to a busy road, so outside seating is not nice during rush hour. Inside seating is cozy and great for people spotting.

I enjoyed the BBQ Chicken wrap but the home baking was terrible. I had a piece of crispy cake. There was the thinnest layer of chocolate I have ever seen on the top and the crispy's just all broke away and was left with a bag of loose crispy's. What ever was meant to be in it to bind them together was non existent!!

You know when you're left thinking about your lunch for the rest of the day because it was that good... Yes, this is the place for that, who knew a panini could do that to you! I had a chicken caesar panini and my friend made up her own creation, they have and incredible selection here and it's proper good quality, made fresh in front of your very own eyes. Topped off with coffees and service that made me feel like I was a regular. Do not be deceived by the exterior, you gotta try this out for lunch.

We stopped in, in need of a coffee break, and were very well looked after by the staff. The coffee and food were as good as the warmth of the welcome, (There were even free mince pies.). Definitely scheduled for a return visit.

Bang in the city centre near Waverley and Leith Walk, this place is very handy and is an excellent deli/cafe if you can get a table or are taking away.Staff were extremely friendly and chatty which is always a nice start and the food was varied and fresh ingredients. Big sandwiches too and good value for money.These types of places you will find regularly in Europe and States but not so much in UK so a great recommendation for people visiting and on the move.

The location of Deli Fresco was perfect for breakfast for our Travelodge hotel. The staff were friendly and smiling, and the food was a good price and tasted great. We ate breakfast there each day we were in Edinburgh.

Best start of the day. I was planning to have something to eat before going on the Calton Hill. The location of Deli Fresco was perfect, you can head to the Calton Hill straight after having breakfast. The food is well presented, good quality and nice! Lovely staffs who always carry a smile. Definitely going to visit again.

I ate breakfast here instead of paying £15 for a buffet breakfast in a nearby hotel. The staff are very friendly, service is with a smile and everything is freshly cooked to order. Wonderful coffee and sausage, bacon and egg roll for £5 - a great start to the day.

I go there everyday for lunch for a takeaway sandwich. Always good quality sandwiches and friendly staff. The coronation chicken is excellent.

The title pretty much sums it up. This little deli is conveniently located across the street from the St. James Shopping Centre and just off Princes Street. They offer a good selection of fresh food throughout the day. My wife and I stopped in for breakfast and had two "I love Scotland" on a bun and a single porridge with blueberries and banana. It was wonderfully fresh and served by very engaging and friendly staff. All for only £9.70.

Staying at the Apex hotel around the corner meant the location was ideal! Very small place can only seat approx 7 people & a few outside if weather permits. Times it just right on a bank holiday Monday at 9:30h. Had the porridge w/ banana & blueberries then the I ❤️ Scotland on a bun breakfast. Porridge was some of the best I've had while being away in the UK! The breakfast sandwich bun was very filling & I really liked the whole idea/taste. Convenient to the train station as well & St James Shopping ctr. Good value for 2 adults (shared the porridge) & each had our own breakfast bun £11.

Really convenient on the way to Carlton Hill, this is a great place to grab a bite. The food is fresh and delicious for a fair price and the staff, friendly and warm. The banana and honey porridge is great for energy for the day.

Wide variety of sandwiches (salmon with avocado is the best ;-)) and soups. Nice and cosy place in city center.

I'm a regular customer here as i work near by, but I often go out of my way to stop here when I'm out on the weekend just to say hello and grab a bite to eat. The staff are lovely and happy to cater for your specific deli needs, and it's a cosy place to sit and have a coffee and a chat. Highly recommended!

I'm a regular. Genuine warm welcome from staff who are open to accommodate reasonable menu requests. Wraps and sandwich based menu attracts a loyal Midweek takeaway lunch trade. Open Sundays- a great relaxed cafe for a pre/post car-booty refreshment.

Deli Fresco is very near the St James Shopping Centre. The food and service is simply excellent. Probably the best cup of coffee in the vicinity despite the proximity of the bland international coffee shops. Two coffees and two paninis for about a tenner - excellent value and really friendly service. Support your local independent Deli, we'll definitely be back next time we're in Edinburgh.

One if my favourite cafés in Edinburgh. The food is excellent, well priced and there is a great selection. What I love most about this cafe is the lovely staff who are always cheery. There is always a choice of specials, both sandwiches and soups. They have the most amazing brownies. (Make sure you try both salted caramel and raspberry) On this occasion we shared a tuna olive and tomato baguette, sweet potato chilli and jarlsberg soup and two brownies. All were delicious and cost less than £10.

As a local business, we have tried several places locally all of which have been lacking. So we were all delighted to find this wee gem. Food is consistently great and fresh... great range of food, so working through the menu.... If that was not enough... the staff are so welcoming, even, when busy they will make sure your ok and go the extra mile. For food on the go, they offer a quick turn around and you can even call and place your order for collection! Give it a go, you wont be disappointed.

Originally I saw the Starbucks next door and wanted to go there. Instead I saw this Deli and thought it might be more personal alternative. I had a very nice breakfast and a good tea there for a low price. Staff was more than friendly and this space was very nice to sit and watch the people walk by.

Having travelled by train to Edinburgh on business we fancied a bacon roll and a cup of tea before our meeting. We had been in three establishments already and were pretty much ignored in all of them; staff were either too busy chatting among themselves or doing something that was far more important than serving customers. Then we stumbled upon Deli Fresco, what a find; we opened the door to be confronted by three smiley people who all wanted to help us, hurrah! All we wanted was a bacon roll and a cup of tea which were great, but the thing that struck us was the genuinely friendly, happy, welcoming environment. While we were there a delivery driver came in and was offered a cup of coffee on the house, the postie also came in and was greeted like a real friend. A genuinely happy, friendly place, what a find, I will definitely be back.

I am pleased to report that having registered this place on Trip Advisor, it is just as good as ever on our 3rd year return. This is a little gem, a brilliant place for breakfast before a day walking around Edinburgh. You will be sure of a very warm welcome if you pop in ~ namecheck Susan & Stephen :o) who do such a good job along with their staff ~ as well as good, freshly cooked food. We used to go for a scrambled egg, sausage or bacon bap and then choose a cake or flapjack as a take-out for later. It’s all very good and highly recommended. We shall return. Good food, nice people!
