Living in Edinburgh for almost a year now, this restaurant is definitely on my top 5. Very relaxing ambiance, would definitely recommend eating outside during a sunny day. The food is delicious, and I am not a plant-based eater on a daily basis. The staff is very friendly, the place is really cool. Don’t hesitate

Spotted this by chance when walking past. Decided to stop for a birthday meal for my daughter. Delicious, fresh vegan food. We tried almost all the menu in our party of five and it was all beautifully presented and wonderful to eat. Both mains and desserts. Highly recommended.

This small restaurant is well hidden under the cathedral. The food was very tasty (even though we are not vegan) and we enjoyed chatting with Mark. Prices were reasonable. Menu changes but I think you’ll always have good options. We had the coconut green curry, soup of the day, and a salad of the day.

We found this lovely little restaurant on the off chance when we were in Edinburgh for the weekend. It’s not often you come across a little jem like this and was right up our street. The food was lovely and the service really good too. Highly recommend

I finally got round to eating here after hearing everyone rave about how good it is. The menu has a great variety of dishes and everything is made fresh with high quality ingredients. I had the seitan and it was delicious! The staff are clearly passionate about the food and the service was faultless. Looking forward to my next visit!

Arguably the best vegan restaurant in Edinburgh. The food is amazing and very well presented. They have a well-thought small menu that keep rotating but always whole-food and plant based. The service is excellent, the staff is friendly and very helpful. The restaurant is located at an amazing location close to princess street gardens and with a view to the castle. I recommend you to try it at least one even if you are not vegan or vegetarian.

My family and I entered this establishment to be greeted by a gentleman asking what we would like, I said we’d like a coffee. Before I could even say we’d like food we were told that it was coming up to their lunch time and basically that the cafe further down would be better for us. Very rude!

Visited here today at lunchtime and was wowed! Everything is fantastic about this place from the quality of the food to the service. They clearly care about providing the best service and food for customers. Everything we tried was delicious. The chocolate pudding is awesome, it makes licking your lips fun! You’ll know what I mean when you try it 🙂

An absolute GEM! Easy to miss as it's nestled in a cozy space under the back of the church at the west end of Princes Street, but do try to visit whether you're vegan or not. The cooking here is stunning, and the atmosphere is very calming. Overall the perfect spot for a soup, stew or their wonderful veggie traybake with a side of salad. Owner made me feel extremely welcome, too! Can't wait to go back.

My family and I were visiting Edinburgh for the weekend and booked a table here for lunch. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, offering to get us a high chair, to hang up our coats and showing pictures of the food whilst giving a detailed descriptions of it. I ordered the soup of the day which came with a sourdough bread, followed by a lasagna main. Both dishes were delicious and had great portion sizes. The staff were really interactive with my 18-month old son, making him feel comfortable and even showing up a magic trick which he was fascinated by. I’d highly recommend visiting here for a fantastic experience.

What a gem! Lovely vibe and decor, very (very!) lovely vegan food and such wonderful service (I could honestly talk to the owner all day about food - his description of the days dishes left me super hungry!). It has a 'small family business' feeling with plenty of heartfelt passion for making a genuinely great place to eat, using locally sourced healthy products and a wealth of knowledge. We'd 100% recommend this place - it's absolutely on top of my list every time I'm visiting family here from now on.

We agree completely with the other 5 star reviewers. The restaurant is in a beautiful vaulted room, with a lovely, calm ambience. Mark welcomed our group of eight, and explained the ethos of the restaurant; home cooked, healthy, plant based food. The food, when it arrived, was delicious. My partner and I had a Turkish style vegetable stew, which was delicious. Our friends enjoyed 'tray bakes' ( which were somewhat similar to egg free frittata, or kuku), with salads. Desserts were also very good. The waiters were friendly and charming.We would recommend Pulse, and will definitely be back.

Even if you don't have a totally plant based diet I can't recommend this little place highly enough! It is a conversation changing eatery where you can immerse yourself in the most luxuriously and lovingly prepared dishes all hand cooked by the owner and locally sourced from the best suppliers. It is a unique place which you shouldn't deprive yourself of! Everything is so fresh and well put together that you can actually taste all the different flavours as you eat, turning the experience into an explosion of flavours; flavours and ingredients you may never have heard of or tried before. It is an exquisite fusion of Asian, Mediterranean and Western cuisines. The delightful front of house team is a bonus, headed by charming Mark who tirelessly and enthusiastically guides you through all the intricacies of the menu. Don't miss out on this experience, you won't be sorry. 🙂

We ordered the vegan slice with side salads which were fantastic, but everything on the menu looked so tempting. The deserts were also lovely - definitely give them a try. Mark immediately greeted us with exquisite details of what the restaurant is about and menu pictures and all. Hard to find vegan restaurant that also prioritizes being healthy, even harder for it to be such a charming place at the same time. Throw in the stunning hospitality and that’s what awaits you dining at Pulse. So grateful we stumbled upon this restaurant and grateful to Mark for his attention to detail.

What a fantastic little restaurant! It is 100% plant based vegan, they use local fresh produce in season and make sure that they cook with the minimum amount of oil and sugar. The menu was exciting, the food colourful and delicious. The owner is very interesting and passionate about his ethos and health reasons for their method of cooking. I could not fault it at all. The serving staff were delightful and helpful also. Very reasonably priced too. I cannot wait to return and eat my way thru' the ever changing menu. An absolute delight!!!!!!

The expression found in vegan culture, “Eat the Rainbow,” referring to the prismatic wealth of fruits and vegetables that our species too often under-appreciates, applies perfectly to Pulse—the dishes at Pulse are the healthiest rainbows one can eat! The meals here fire on EVERY cylinder: nutritionally complete, kaleidoscopically flavorful, culinarily innovative, and vegan. The head chef at Pulse needs her own channel, book series, podcast, culinary school, and so on! I visited Edinburgh for a few days and ate at as many fully vegan restaurants as I could fit in my time (including Holy Cow, Chapter One, and Sora Lella). Those other places were fantastic, but Pulse tops them all. If you’re in Edinburgh, dine at Pulse. Make a pilgrimage to Pulse even. I only wish Pulse existed where I live, here in Portland, which is arguably the vegan-restaurant capital of the world.

Great place serving delicious vegan food. The combination of flavours is absolutely divine. We stumbled on this restaurant on HappyCow app when walking through Edinburgh but we will be sure to return each time we're in Edi. 🙂

What a gem of a place, totally vegan and populated by enthusiastic staff, owner/host had photos of food on his phone and so excited to share a story about some of the dishes and ethos of the place. Why they try not to fry for example. Food was excellent and served quickly. Lovely decor to the place and gentle music in the background.

Pulse is a vegan haven where flavor meets health.💚😋 The flan and lentil salad were standout dishes, with clear, oil-conscious ingredients that didn't skimp on taste. The Thai curry was also super nutritious. Swift and savvy service in a cozy stone-walled setting near the city gardens makes Pulse a must-visit for wholesome, delicious vegan food.

Wow! This place is a gem! Our favorite in Edinburgh. The menu is creative and everything we had was outstanding. The prices are also incredibly reasonable. I left feeling inspired to take home some of the ideas from the menu. I am still thinking about the passionfruit chocolate pudding.

The food was good, especially the salads. The stew needed more seasoning. Atmosphere a touch lacking as it was quiet but lighting and music can potentially compensate. Service was an acquired taste - some would find it attentive and welcoming and others would find it a little intense. Great location so might as well give it a try! ☘️🌿

As someone who doesn't usually eat vegan food and is quite intimidated by that kind of cooking, I can tell you I could not have dreamed of something as delicious as I've had! Everything was so flavourful and fresh and everyone is so kind, it's a must stop in Edinburgh. My only regret is that there won't be a PULSE restaurant waiting for me at home in Canada.

The food is wonderful, blackbean soup was lush, and the choice of adding one, two, or three salads to the mains is a very good one. Only bummer are the bogs that you have to access via the Red Cockerell two doors down.

No surprise to see only 5 star reviews for this wonderful little eaterie that we found to be full of heart. The food is truly amazing and innovative; fantastic blends of flavour and texture, served in an environment that is comfortable and relaxing, by hosts that are warm, friendly, helpful, informative and also educational. Two of the three of us are meat eaters and we all loved it here - so much so that we made sure we came back!! The whole experience is special - one of those times you want to tell everyone about it and at the same time keep it quiet!

Gorgeous food, superb service, cosy atmosphere, reasonably priced for such wonderful quality! The menu is lovingly crafted and has zero questionable ingredients. No "vegan junk". No fried things. New favorite in Edinburgh and dog friendly, too! We had 3 salads, fab things on toast, tiramisu oats and little oat bites. All yummy. As a trained Integrative Nutrition and Health coach, I can feel 100% great about eating anything on this wholesome menu.

High quality food at all stages (i.e. at starter, mains, desserts, drinks), very friendly owners and staff, who are all total foodies and care for every detail in the dishes. Prices are also very descent given it's right in centre of Edinburgh.

Als je denkt dat je alles gehad hebt, kom je dit prachtige plekje tegen met fantastisch lekker eten. De smaak van de ingrediënten waren zo puur en echt. En over smaak valt niet te twisten dus proef het zelf maar. Tevens was het voor ons een inspiratie om boerenkool op een andere manier te bereiden. Dank jullie wel voor deze geweldige ervaring.

Unglaublich leckeres veganes Restaurant. Das Personal super freundlich. Uns wurden alle Gerichte bis ins kleinste erklärt und sogar Bilder wurden zur Veranschaulichung gezeigt. Auch der Chai-Tee war sehr gut. Nur zu empfehlen!

This is an amazing place. I went with friends who wanted to eat vegan food, which mostly I don't like. The menu was very varied and I had no trouble finding something I wanted. The food was well flavoured and appetising. The proprietors are deeply committed to providing really good food made from the best ingredients. The bread is excellent. It deserves to be much busier than it is. Go now before it gets famous and while you can still get a table.

We have been to basically all the top rated vegan places in Edinburgh on our trip and this is by far the best. The service was a highlight: extremely attentive, so kind, and people you want to support and be friends with. The food was INCREDIBLE. The mockzarella was the best faux cheese I have ever had. The food really let's the vegetables shine. So tasty while being so healthy. I wish this restaurant was in my backyard. Ive been to vegan restaurants all over the world and this one is in the hall of fame. Also, very reasonably priced!

The best food that I have ever eaten in a restaurant. I run an organic food shop, and am not easy to please. Every mouthful was exquisite and interesting, tasting really fresh and 'clean', without an off note. The hosts were warm-hearted, accommodating and helpful. An absolute delight. Entirely vegan.
