Everest Inn Newark in Newark and Sherwood

First time we've visited since the change from the previous owners and it was mostly an excellent experience. Service was attentive without being intrusive and the personal attention and advice from the Head Chef was very much appreciated. Always trust the man who knows, especially when he'll be the one cooking for you 🤣 Seriously, the food was fantastic and great for my Gluten free as well! We would have given 5 stars across the board but the atmosphere was definitely negatively impacted by two guests who spent their entire meal with their 'phones ringing at maximum volume and then holding the subsequent conversations on open speaker also at maximum volume. Really annoying and intrusive. What is wrong with these people..... We'll definitely be back at the restaurant soon as the food, service and staff were fantastic.

Having celebrated with the family all 14 of us for my parents Diamond Wedding Anniversary (60 yrs)the whole evening was excellent. Staff were attentive food was excellent and service was impeccable. Thank you for looking after us all 100% 👍😃 xx would certainly recommend and shall be returning 😀 xx

First visit after seeing the restaurant on YouTube, and as we come to Newark a few times a year decided to give it a try. We had never experienced Nepalese food before, and received great assistance from the staff suggesting dishes that met our taste. The food was delicious, and served beautifully by the attentive staff. Overall, I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant, food is exceptional, and a bit different from the usual fare.

Had the worst experience with this restaurant and no apology or anything from the management. I came here with my husband had some food. We ordered a lamb curry when we started to eat the food. We realised the smell from the lamb. It definitely was rotting. I asked to speak to someone And told them to smell it, even they could see it was off. I used to use this restaurant all the time when the old owners was there, but I don’t know what has happened since but it’s not fit to eat from. They keep changing the name of the restaurants because of the bad reviews And keeping the same chefs there they need to do something with their hygiene of food and stop selling things that is out of date. I am disgusted that it’s still running changing. The name of the restaurant is not going to make it any better. They should do more with the staff , and with what the serving should be making sure everything is booked to standards

We had an early reservation at 1830 so the restaurant was empty, the staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming, the food was excellent and plentiful we had poppadoms and naan bread too. It cost £30 odd for each of us and two of the party had Gukka beer which they said was excellent.

This is such a lovely restaurant. The service is amazing, the food is authentically Nepalese-Indian at reasonable prices. Our mains were Machha Malekhu (marinated fish in mustard - chef's grandma's recipe, and Jalfrezi king prawns). I requested the Machha Malekhu to be of medium heat/spiciness, so it suited me just fine. The ambience is posh yet inviting. I look forward to dine there again.

What an amazing find! We spotted this restaurant when walking around the town, having just moved back to the area and immediately wanted to pay a visit. We booked in last minute, on a Friday night, and they really could not have been more accommodating. The first thing that struck me when we walked into the restaurant was how smiley everyone was who worked there. Throughout our whole meal, we were checked on, had lovely chats with the chef, and with the restaurant owner. Then THE FOOD! OH. MY. GOODNESS. It is off the chart good. I mean REALLY good. Fresh, tasty, SO flavoursome - not one dish or part of the meal was even vaguely substandard. We have fish pakora, dumplings, calamari, three different curry dishes, naan, rice - all absolutely fantastic. You could tell it was made fresh to order, as the flavours were all so deep and rounded - so delicious. The meal was very good value too - three people, starters, mains and drinks and it was just over £80. We will definitely become regulars and are already planning a return visit soon. Really cannot recommend this place highly enough - please go and support this amazing restaurant.

We visited on Sunday 14th January to try their special Nepalese Street Food menu. Lovely evening out and amazing food. We'll definitely visit again 🙂 Update 21.03.24 When we visited the restaurant in January it was called "The Everest Inn". Since our visit it has been renamed "Baseri Nepalese and Indian Restaurant" not sure why and not sure if it's still the same owners.

Excellent restaurant. The food is amazing and the staff are friendly and diligent. They offer great suggestions on food and are always welcoming.

Great food and amazing service. Great recommendations from the proprietor. A relaxing place to have a brilliant curry. One can tell that the food had a whole lot of pride put into it. Don’t be frightened by the hot rating on the dishes, this is a place that understands the balance between heat and flavour.

Wow what a meal. Over the years I have had many good Indian meals but this was another level. The staff are wonderful and I would recommend this Baseri restaurant to anyone. If you are staying in Newark you must go.

Outstanding service, chef is very attentive and helps to choose the best dish based on personal preferences. Amazing stuff which make you feel welcomed until the very last second. The food quality is excellent and has a lot of flavours. Definitely recommend dropping by if you are in Newark!

We have loved our 1st visit to Baseri. Ankit (probably not how you spell it) served us. He was very attentive and took the time to talk to us and tell us about Nepal which we would love to visit one day. The food was lovely and a very good choice of dishes. The service was excellent and we would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Welcomed at the door, shown our reserved table followed by a long informative chat about thr menu as we have never done Nepalese before. Very well presented starter and equally good main course, all by a friendly and efficient server. Impressed enough to book again for a group of 8.

What an experience my wife and I visited this lovely establishment a week ago - the food was delicious and a varied large menu to choose from - the service was excellent and performed in a very professional manner with their knowledge of each dish was fantastic- this restaurant is a must if you enjoy good flavour food - The owner Dev will always cook anything you ask for if it is not on menu. Highly recommended and a must for a visit- when next in the area we certainly will visit this high class establishment GH

I went in this restaurant and it was relatively busy. The restaurant is located in the heart of the town though so I would have expected it to have been busier at the time I went. First of all, the waiting staff were exceptional, I was greeted as I walked in and was taken care of by a young lady throughout the evening. I also spoke to a couple other waiting staff who were polite and happy to help. However the one thing I was very unimpressed by was the fact the staff dont receive tips!!! (Which is illegal)I have spoken to friends who have also been here and they had the same experience, good food but found the way the staff was treated unfair. Although this left a bitter taste in my mouth, the food did not! I have been to many indian restaurants in the Newark area and this is one of the best. All in all I would go again but I would like to see the tips policy be reviewed by management in the future.

Someone recommended me this restaurant and I went with family, and The Everest Inn Newark did not let him down.I normally do not review the restaurant but the food was amazing, and the service and hospitality was superb . My kids were happy.I highly recommended if anyone going out for dinner or birthday party.

Absolutely amazing as a Nepali I was familiar with the food but the ppl there still managed to tantalise my taste buds. Not to mention it was my brothers birthday so they gave him a small cheesecake and a khadha (is that how u spell it ) would recommend unless ur carina coda sassu u can go rot in ur rusty good for nothing no shame

The staff were very friendly, and the food full of flavour. People should be aware this is Nepalese cuisine not Indian... The flavours are still bold but subtly different. The food was really delicious, and we were well looked after too. There are your more conventional Indian dishes on the menu but we steered clear of these. The Nepalese dishes were as good as any that I have had before. Would recommend this place... Edit after a few years on from the above review Still awesome!

First time for me in the Everest and I can definitely say it will not be the last. Myself and a few old work friends arranged a couple of days away at a local camp sire (Smeeton's Lakes). We're all retired and enjoyed a few great beers around the wonderful Newark town centre. We'd prebooked a meal at the Everest and what a find! The food was superb! Very fresh and tasty. Lots of variations of dishes I'd tried before and others well described in the menu. I tried something I'd not had before (and can't remember now) but it was like a hot chicken tikka masala. It was beautiful. Moist chicken tikka and a wonderful rich sauce. Nan breads that were fresh and grease free unlike some you get elsewhere. A very reasonable price too. We had lots of food with a mix of beer, wine and as much tap water as we wanted. Service was equally superb. The staff were very attentive and friendly and clearly took a pride in their work. When it was time to leave we asked them to call us a taxi which they offered to do but then graciously offered to give us a lift back to the campsite themselves as they weren't too busy. Two trips to manage us all. We might have had to wait a while for a taxi. I can't fault the staff at all. Above and beyond our expectation. And hence this review. It's taken me 15 mins to write, but it's the least I can do to repay their kindness. Very impressed and as I said, we will be back. I recommend the Everest to anyone wanting superb food with excellent service on your next visit to Newark.

5/5! The staff here are exceptional, really hospitable. Came here last week as a family and everyone left grinning - if a little full! Tasted like home food in the best way! We ordered: Aloo Chana Puri (Veg), Momos (Lamb), Maccha Malekhu (Fish), Fresh Bhindi (Veg), Tarka Daal (Veg), Tandoori Roti and Peshuari Naan. Everything was delicious, and each dish complemented the meal's overall flavours, I wouldn't be able to pick favourites, it was all so tasty! I have to recommend all of it!

Food is always amazing - our favourite takeaway in Newark! Sometimes delivery takes a while when it's busy but it's always worth the wait and still arrives hot. Lots of veggie options but the paneer masala are the best!

Food was not worth the price, rice smelt horrible and the Jalfrezi seemed to have been cooked in tomato sauce.

Called in here on spec at teatime for a Mother's Day meal - they were very welcoming and sorted a table for us very quickly. The food was excellent. We will definitely be back!!

The staff that night, especially the lead waitress, we're brilliant. We had a leaving party for one of our staff. 26 people turned up. 10 more than expected, but the staff dealt with the constant flow of people arriving. Service was fantastic and food just as good.

Middle if the week so not so busy, food was great, service exceptional, had a really good night, thank you.

It’s been a couple of your since we last dined at the Everest Inn. It remains a joy to return. Friendly and attentive staff and deliciously prepared curries.

Great food as always, but prices seem to be getting higher and higher.

The whole team at the Everest gave my family a great meal experience in the run up to Xmas. Food was super, service was very helpful. Location is great for us because it's halfway between family homes, so although none of us live in Newark, we will be back!

Went to the restaurant yesterday evening a birthday celebration. The whole experience was poor, cold food, incorrect food. Waited to pay and had to go to the front desk after waiting mentioned poor service and poor food. Response nothing no apology just a blank look. Will not be returning.

Took one star off for atmosphere, it was a little quite but then do you want loads of noise when you are out eating? My sish wasnt on the menu but they made it for me anyway. Thanks and we will visit again soon !

This was my 2nd time of visiting and decided to have our 12th Wedding Anniversary meal here which I had mentioned on the booking I like to have an early table as I know it can get busy So young waitress who took our order poppadoms and chutneys 2 mains, mushroom rice, 2 breads, raitha, one side dish Unfortunately the waitress messed the order only 1 bread and no raitha. Overall the meal was nice and plenty of it What I found a little annoying in the 1hr 15mins we were asked about drinks 9 times and it was clear our drinks where half full and we had a jug of ice water also I'm not one for being asked so many times regarding drinks and when it came to payment it felt pressured to pay and leave Tabled booked 17.30 left restaurant 18.45

Used for the first time yesterday. Unfortunately their ordering page said they don't deliver to Collingham-so I went to collect and the meal was ready 37 minutes after ordering. I was being visited by 3 old friends and wanted a good meal, so I checked the reviews. We weren't disappointed. We found on arrival that the restaurant had many awards and nominations pre Covid. The staff were very friendly and the takeaway bags were a step up from the ones I've been given previously. My main was a Gurkhali Lamb and it was amazing. The nan and chapatis were also excellent. Here's what one of my guests had to say: "Our group had a selection of dishes from this establishment, I am familiar with the differences a Nepalese restaurant has in spicing dishes as my usual local provider is called Everest Spice, I was surprised to find them even more flavourful than I am accustomed to with a generous helping of quality meat in. My friends also enjoyed the meal. Would definitely recommend. Thanks 🙏". So, take comfort that you can order / eat here with confidence. Enjoy

The food was awful I really couldn't eat it. The onion Baji had no flavour at all and was really dry. Tasted as though it was cooked 5 days ago and heated in a microwave - definitely not fresh. The vegetarian rice dish didn't taste good and tasted quite bizarre, not like any biryani I've tasted before and the sauce that came with it was awful. It was basically cream and onions - again not like any biryani sauce I've tasted before. Give this place a miss - awful!!!!

Superb food, best Asian meal I've had in years. Excellent service, friendly and efficient but unobtrusive. Good menu, plenty of choices and good value for money.

Ordered a chicken tikka but had a chicken korma delivered! The poppadoms were soggy and came with sliced carrots and not pickles, lamb madras was average,
