The service was good but the food was mediocre, we had 2 salads which were served in a side salad bowl no coleslaw, the ceaser salad was poor. 2 slices of tomatoes rocket and onion. The salads here used to be lovely. And the paninies were served with a small tub of coleslaw. Wasn’t impressed such a shame.

Thoresby Park has undergone many changes to become a lovely place for a walk and spend time out in the Nottinghamshire country side, sadly The Bay Tree Cafe Bar in the Courtyard has gone from being a favourite place for a coffee, cake, lunch to now offering poor customer service and overpriced food. When it first opened after the COVID-19 lockdown the service was second to none, track and trace, table service (as has always been) and a good choice of food, cakes etc. Today like so many café bars the table service has gone leaving you queuing for 20 minutes + to order poor quality and short measure on your coffee, scones with only one Jam. hey I remember when you got 3 (thankfully the scones are still great tasting) and expensive prices, hasn’t the VAT dropped to 5%? Sure, you are not passing that on to the customer (who pays the VAT anyway) let’s hope come next year you don’t add a further 15% to the prices..!! Come on The Bay Tree Cafe Bar you can do so much better, I’m writing because you have gone from hero to zero, make the changes necessary and please, please, please improve your customer service and experience.

Had a lovely walk at Thoresby, kids were hungry so nipped to the cafe to get a small sandwich. £6:95 for one plain ham sandwich!! Two pieces of bread and a slice of ham, what a joke!! Now I know why picnics are so popular here, lesson learnt!! They should be embarrassed charging these prices, I know this is Robin Hood country but thought being robbed in the woods was a thing of the past!

Had alright cake and tea here, although service rather brusque. However, credit card payment did not work as "she's on the phone" so prehistoric connection did not work. Much worse though, the Visa cancellation slip which I fortunately kept has my full credit card number and expiry date. The waste paper bin here must be treasure trove for the fraudulent minded.

We last visited the Bay Tree Cafe in March 2019 and gave the cafe a glowing review. Well what a change nearly a year makes. On our previous visit we had a lovely piece of cake with seperate pouring cream and a small bowl of fresh fruit all within the same order. This arrived with a large pot of tea. Well on our latest visit something as dramatically changed, whether this is ownership I am unsure. However we ordered a piece of cake again and it duly arrived with a bit of squirty cream and three grapes and a far smaller pot of tea. How disappointing. The staff left a lot to be desired as well. O'h well we'll just have to look for somewhere else to go.

First, and last visit, surly staff more interested in clearing up to go home, ordered two teas and a piece of apple pie which seemed a bit pricey at £4.50 but looked appealing the teas arrived and was good but the dessert never arrived despite asking for it once. My wife and I have visited this cafe several times over the years and always found the food very nice with the soup hot and the paninis fresh. On our most recent visit we decided to have tea and cake. The tea arrived hot and in a decent sized tea pot and had a pleasent taste to it. The sweets are not cheap in here but they are always decent sized portions, homemade and come with a side dish of fruit and cream so well worth the money. The cafe is usually busy so you have to be patient to be served, so if your in a rush go eslewhere.

Thoresby is always a very nice place to visit even if you just go to walk around the area. The Baytree is situated in what is known as the Courtyard, alongwith a number of small interesting shops and a museum. You can sit in or sit out and the food is very good. The jacket spuds come with a large selection of fillings and they are a good plate full for the price. Prices are reasonable too. They do have a coeliac menu as well. Highly recommended for a visit.

In the old Courtyard at Thoresby,I looked inside the Bay Tree Restaurant. It is hard to believe that once in the 17th century this was one of the stables for horses. It was now full of diners and rather noisy, so we sat in the warmth of the outside at a pleasant little table. We were soon approached by Harriet for our order. However I suppose because there were only 2 people doing serving and all the tables were full there was a rather long wait for food. That was surprising in that they only had a range of salads and sandwiches and Panini’s and baked potatoes. I settled into a pint of Black Sheep strong ale and waited for my Cranbury, crisp bacon and brie salad with pasta as well as baked potato to arrive. When it did I was not disappointed. My wife had a tuna mayo baked potato and pasta but left some of the large portion of her salad. She did however have a taste of my generous Victoria sponge slice. I finished off a really fresh fruit salad and cream. As we were a little hungry we also enjoyed an upsidedown pineapple pudding between us. All of the food was excellent.

Visited on a non busy day and sat outside. Was informed must order at the table. So then we sat and waited 10 mins and no one came. Lots of young waitresses. I finally went inside to order. Oh dear they are using scones that I would say are from Morrison’s and 25p each. The long life type. A selection of jams turned out to be the cheap jam you get from Poundland. They charge £2.15 for this ? I asked what the scones were like and seen the cheap packet. Apparantly they always serve them. I decided to have a piece of cake it was a slither for £4.35 with a pot of fruit? How strange ? I think they were trying to save the cake so put a pot of fruit on the plate. The coffee is good quality and the pot of tea good. I wouldn’t bother again just order takeaway drinks as there are quality places nearby.

Whilst walking the Robin Hood Way with friends we have had lunch at a few places but this was one of the best for value and quality. The coffees were of good flavour and you could get two large cups out of each pot for £2.45 each which is unusual in itself. The food was of good quality, homemade and with surprising additions like the pot of fresh fruit served with the cheesecakes; this was a nice touch. Everything was tasty and we weren't rushed. The staff were very friendly and efficient, professional, attentive at a glance but not intrusive, It made a refreshing change, they should hold courses for other institutions in service provision. We dropped in after a walk around Thoresby. Staff seemed pleasant although it isn't clear what kind of service they offer, there isn't any one front of house to meet, greet and seat you. It's not obvious but it is table service. We were given menus and a polite waitress took our order, we all had a cream scone with jam and a couple of lattes. Lattes were too strong for our taste. Clotted cream was very nice, would've been nice to have had jam/butter in a pot as opposed to a packet. The scone was unusual, best described as one of Morrisons Best scones (rectangular in shape), tasted good either way and was warm when served. Overall definitely recommend the place, seemed lovely and staff were nice.

Clearly a highly popular destination judging by the number of cars parked in car park and with people prepared to queue for a table. Pebbled path to edge of car park and then veer left towards The Courtyard (former stables of Thorseby Hall). Relatively easy disabled access with outdoor seating area which offers double the interior space. interesting variety of crafty - type shops in courtyard. Booked in advance, the staff were expecting us and reserved table for 4 was set up and waiting. Greeted at the door with a smile, followed by a very fast and attentive service from a team of young staff. Everything was so clean. Americano coffee delicious and asked to be served with hot milk which was spot on. Very large tea cups and generous pot of tea - additional hot water supplied quickly and without fuss. The 3 tier display of sandwiches, scones and cakes looked scumptious and got many admiring looks as it was delivered to our table. A generous selection of sandwiches - ham, chicken, tuna & cucumber, smoked salmon and cheese. Very big scones laced with strawberry jam and clotted cream. Lemon and blueberry cake slices and an unusual marzipan cheesecake. Perfect except 3 of our party were vegetarians. Chef quickly rescued the situation and provided a selection of cheesy toasties, at no extra cost. Portion size so generous, ended up taking home a veritable feast - tin foil and paper bags provided compliments of the chef. Everything we asked for, we got and believe me we are a mixed bunch of fussy eaters. Additional drinks were ordered - cold tap water, hot water with lemon, another pot of tea with extra hot water - all provided in super quick time. What a delightful treat. As for prices - this tea was a complimentary charity raffle prize and didn't get to see a full menu. Judging by pricing on daily specials board would say a bit above average but sometimes it is just nice to indulge a little.

What we really wanted was a hot drink and cake - but all that we could have was a "dessert" - which included cream and fruit - in an effort to justify the price, I'm guessing... And yes, it was very over-priced! And he cake was very dry (perhaps because it was "gluten-free"? Why, when 95% of people are fine with gluten?) This review is not about the hotel. It is about the Bay Tree Cafe in the grounds of Thoresby Hall.I visited the Courtyard on the Thorsby estate this weekend to meet up with family members. We went to the Bay Tree Cafe for lunch. What a mistake. The only 4 seat table was near the door. The catch was sticking and the door kept coming open with an icy draught. Staff were invisible whenever this happened. It could have been kept shut and a sign attached directing customers to the main door, but that was too simple. Its now obvious why we were able to get a 4 seat table.I ordered the fish cake meal and the other family members had quiche. Apparently the quiche had a strange flavour and only my brother in law ate his, but then he can eat anything. My fish came late and the waitress told me to give it a while as it was hot. What she omitted was, it was not the fish dish, it was pasta bake. They had the fish but the chef decided I'd rather have the pasta. I had to go and find a waitress to tell them what they must have already known. Does the chef think we won't realise we're eating something he wants to be rid of?I told them to keep the pasta but they put it on the bill anyway. They chef told the waitress to delete the pasta, that he knew he'd sent pasta, but never apologised nor made eye contact.Warner Hotels should realise that this kind of behaviour on their estate will damage their reputation if allowed to continue. And that the door catch should be repaired immediately.I won't find out whether they do. I won't be returning.

The service was adequate on our Sunday lunchtime visit, with smiley young staff eager to help. The prices are at the top end of being "reasonable", which is to say probably fair enough. It would help both prospective customers and existing diners if, at busy times, a member of staff could be on the door to prevent whole families with buggies & wheelchairs from trooping through the restaurant only to find its full and with no prospect of being served for a long time!

Well I can't say too much good about The Baytree Cafe PEOPLE including myself queued for ages only to reach the front of the queue to be told no takeaways.Which is what I wanted as all the outdoor tables where taken.I have a dog you see.The person who told us this was not courteous and left many people frustrated saying they will never return.Me included. They said we are too busy to sell takeaway tea which is all I wanted. Disgraceful really

I see there are some 20-odd reviews on the Bay Tree (Dec 2015) most of them complimentary and mine would have been the same but for a disaster. Its an OK place, fixed menu, reasonably priced, the menu hasn't changed for the five years we've been going, but its fine, nice atmosphere and sit outside with dogs on a decent day. But oh my - a few weeks ago (Oct 2105) I ordered the usual - Chicken and bacon triple decker, fish platter, coffees and a soft drink, and quite quickly we were given cutlery. But that was it. For an hour. We asked where the order had got to; 'its on its way'. and again 'its on its way, we're quite busy'. So busy in fact that people were coming, eating and going before we even got a look in. In the end after some 75 minutes and many coffees, i went inside, cancelled my order and refused to pay for the coffees we'd had, left my name and address. They said 'oh don't do that your order is almost ready' and sure enough the poor chef was assembling it as fast as he could. Rubbish - they'd either lost it, mislaid it or possibly just couldn't be bothered. Not impressed. Maybe a one-off occurrence but I'm reluctant to try it again, I'm probably banned anyway; not that I'm overly bothered. Not like me to rattle on like this but I was furious. had a Big Mac in Worksop instead. You sure can't accuse me of being fussy!

We visited the cafe on a damp cold day. As a result we sat inside. The seats (wooden) were OK and good enough to sit at for a meal but nothing more. We had to sit near a large door for disabled which when opened let in the wind etc. There was waiter service and we didn't have to wait long for the soup which was thick and filling and nice along with a roll. Well worth having on a cool day.

We called in here for a quick break on our journey from Halifax to Nottingham. The weather was excellent so we were lucky enough to eat outside and watch the house martins that are nesting in the courtyard. The gluten free bread they had here was excellent for my brie & cranberry sandwich. The salad was fresh & plentiful and included a small bowl of fresh fruit salad which was an unexpected treat. My husband enjoyed his quiche & salad. The staff were friendly. We will definitely call in again if we are in the area.

We visited this Cafe recently but some of the meals are ready meals from the microwave the lasagne is one example and at 8.95 I don't consider that good value for a microwave meal, the soup was priced at £6.55 I can only presume that was a mistake I never paid that for soup in a fine restaurant never mind a cafe, however the jacket potato was ok as were the fish-cakes. It’s in a nice setting and the staff are helpful and friendly, just not keen on ready meals especially at their prices.

I've been here a number of times, mostly with family but my latest visit was with work colleagues. It's situated in the corner of the courtyard which has a number of individual businesses including a new farm shop and a military museum. The cafe is clean and modern, offering hot and cold food. The service is consistently good and the specials board has a seasonal selection. Between us we ordered soup (lovely and hot), toasted panini, fish cakes and baguettes all of which came with side dishes. A huge slice of light chocolate cake finished the meal. If you're a large group it would be worth phoning to reserve a table as it can get busy. Thoresby hotel is a short walk away and guests visits the cafe. It's worth a visit to browse the shops, car parking is free and there's a lovely walk should you wish to build up an appetite.

Came here for lunch and sat on the seating outside in Thoresbys lovely court yard. The sun was shining and the restaurant was very busy. We were lucky to get a table outside. No sooner had we sat down than a waiter came with some menus. The young waiter and the lady who served us were lovely very pleasant people, full of smiles. I had the quiche and salad. It was lovely, the quiche was full of roasted vegetables but not at all greasy or sloppy. We also has cake which always comes with a small bowl of fruit salad. Really pleasant lunch, there are also a few shops in the courtyard and a very interesting military museum. There are many walks from the car park around the Thoresby grounds. I shall return.

This cafe is in the old courtyard by Thoresby Hall, the stately home which is now a Warners Hotel. If you are staying at this hotel you should certainly try this place for lunch. The food is much better for lunch than the library or pavilion bar in the hotel. It is also less expensive, and the service much faster.During a five day stay at the hotel my family came here three times, once for hot drinks (excellent, really good hot chocolate) and twice for food. All the food was excellent. All the soups were very good. This place takes jacket potatoes into a whole new league. Don't be put off by the price of £6.55. It really is worth it. I had bacon brie and cranberry, and it was a taste sensation. It came with three rashers of bacon, three big chunky slices of brie, a generous sized pot of cranberry, really nice creamy coleslaw, pasta salad and fresh salad which was with proper tasty lettuce, not the nasty tasteless cheap iceberg stuff. My grandmother had scone with clotted cream and jam on both visits, which she described as wonderful. It was a huge scone, fresh and warm, with a giant portion of clotted cream. On another visit we had lasagne, which was up in the top twenty of best lasagnes of all time. very very good.Every thing we had here was good, and the service fast and friendly. Strongly recommend. PS: if you are staying in Thoresby Hall and think it'll be quicker and easier to just have lunch there, it isn't. Lunch service in Thoresby Hall was so slow it is quicker to make the five minute walk here!
