Waited in like ~30 minutes at 6pm on a Thursday in April for outside seating. Guests were all patient and friendly. The wine and food are great, worth the wait. The server barely spoke and took payment before the food/drinks were delivered. Heat lamps and covering was enough despite spitting rain and cool temps.

Our recent visit to Gordon's Wine Bar on a quiet Wednesday afternoon was an absolute delight. With no wait in sight, we found ourselves nestled in the back, surrounded by the enchanting ambiance of what must have been an old wine cellar, steeped in history. As one of the oldest wine bars in London, Gordon's exudes a timeless charm that harks back to its inception in 1890. Situated near Embankment Tube station, it occupies a charming Victorian building and is renowned for its cozy and atmospheric cellar setting. The wine and cheese selection at Gordon's is nothing short of spectacular, catering to every palate and preference. While the service was a tad slow, it didn't detract from the overall experience. We were promptly greeted upon arrival, setting the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable outing. What truly stole our hearts was the ambiance – the dimly lit cave-like setting exuded an undeniable charm, transporting us to a bygone era of London's rich history. Paired with the extensive selection of wines, it made for an unforgettable experience. In summary, Gordon's Wine Bar earns a well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars in our book. We're already dreaming of our next visit to London, where Gordon's will undoubtedly be at the top of our list for a return excursion. Cheers to Gordon's Wine Bar – a true gem in the heart of London's vibrant scene!

You can’t book and on the weekends there is always a queue. Inside looks like you are transported to decades behind and also have the beautiful cave table area with candlelight’s. Omg where do you start with this Epic place? The service was excellent, from being greeted outside by the pleasant staff to being given some information about how Gordon's works by its friendly staff inside. You walk down several steps to be greeted by the friendly team and given a number to wait for a table. Then you are invited to grab a drink at the bar as you wait in a beautiful atmospheric waiting area. Which has a few stoles as well as places to stand. Once a table becomes free, you're guided to the back half, which is an underground wine cellar setting. With exposed brick and low ceilings. The service throughout was wonderful. The food, even though simple as I went for pate, was gorgeous, and the wine was on point and fairly priced for the setting. We spend a good hour and a half just chatting and taking in the beautiful surroundings and atmosphere. I'd highly recommend Gordon's for any occasion. But please bear in mind that inside is not disability friendly. Gordon's is a perfect place for a date, a catch-up with friends, a pre show treat, or just a sod it Sunday. I'm having a drink. I'd love to return back soon for the food and setting alone. Not to take away from the amazing staff.

Nice vibes and atmosphere in this London wine cellar. The staff were great and got us seated very quickly (Sunday night). In our opinion good value - cheese board says one slice but this is 100g of your chosen cheese so it’s a good amount. Maybe 2/3 cheese between 2?

I'm convinced that the prices changed as we ordered more of the same rounds of drinks. That might have worked in the old days with cash, but these days, we have digital records. I'd not been here for a very long time, and they have lost the way a bit. Waiting in line to get in when there was more than enough room was not a welcome way to spend time. Update. I didn't have a table or cheese so the port should have been charged at the same price, without a service charge. I was 2 steps away from the bar.

Learning that we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary, he graciously treated us to two complimentary glasses of champagne. This place is like marmite. You either like it or hate it. If you are the person who enjoys a busy, crowded, noisy environment full of wine and cheese, you would love it. Otherwise, just avoid it. This was my second attempt to visit this bar. First time I just left it after seconds being downstairs because it was too busy, too noisy, too hot, and it smelled of sour wine. The second time was a more pleasant experience. We came after 9 pm, closer to 10, and we were able to secure a table able. The downside of visiting that late was very relaxed staff, who spent their time in the side staff/ kitchen area, leaving the bar unattended, and the fact that they stopped serving cheese. Nevertheless, if you want to get alcohol intoxicated in the hobbit-like environment, this is a perfect place to visit. It fills very cosy with occasional tube rattle noise and subtle lighting. I don't think I would enjoy this place with more busy atmosphere.
