Granny Mac's in Cardiff

I’m not one to leave negative reviews but it’s like they’ve gone out of their way to serve awful food. Undercooked chewy bacon in a soggy cheap roll. Although I ordered sausage!! Chips were obviously re cooked from yesterday and although I was starving and aren’t the fussiest of eaters I couldn’t get it down me!! First and last order

Absolutely dreadful experience! Ordered breakfast for a birthday celebration, and it was a disaster from start to finish. The order arrived 30 minutes early, which would have been great if the food wasn’t practically inedible. The bacon was undercooked and served in soggy rolls, there were no sausage rolls as ordered, the chips were only half-cooked and cold, and to top it off, the smoked salmon panini was served in a partially baked roll that was cold, hard, and flaky, with barely any cream cheese. It was a complete waste of money, time, and appetite. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of this establishment! Wish I had read the reviews beforehand but was rushing

Brilliant breakfast and super friendly service

Ordered via Ubereats... They marked it delivered but it was never delivered. The expected recipient called, they said a neighbor buzzed them in and refused the delivery(mind you, he told her this before she gave him her address)... Anyways 👎🏾👎🏾

Poor food quality and No taste. Coffee was wishy washy as well. As for the customer service short changing your customers will not get you far in the world of business. At least try to smile while your doing it ay. By reading the other reviews people have left it makes it clear that this place is a dive. My own fault for not checking this beforehand.

Scams people through Uber Eats and other online market places, would give it 0 if I could but wanted to warn others. 30 minutes into waiting for an order after it had been confirmed Granny Mac’s cancelled and informed Uber Eats that we had called them to cancel it meaning that they kept the £20 from us and we now have to go through an ordeal with Uber Eats - and possibly a charge back through our bank - in order to get our money back. Fair enough to cancel an order if you’re overwhelmed but to steal money from customers is disgusting!!

Always good food... ideal way to start my day

Had the jacket potato and chips and the portion was far too big for one person and undercooked. Extremely bland and needed a lot of salt to make edible. The server didn't seem to know what he was doing and it felt a little unprofessional. The cutlery I was given had cemented on food residue on it. Won't be coming back unfortunately.

Just came into granny Mac’s with a gentleman I support. Amazing welcome with big smiling faces. Beautiful food, coleslaw is to die for. Very very happy with our visit!

Me and my friend ordered breakfast at 11.30, it didn’t turn up until 1.05. After ringing the restaurant twice and saying they will ring us back to tell us where it is, they never did. When it arrived it was soggy, undercooked and without yoghurt. Inedible, bad customer service and a disappointment overall. Don’t order it!

I received my order via uber eats. The food was not packed properly. Food was ice cold. Mushroom was not good. Food is not tasty at all. Do not prefer.

As had a hard week in work was not going to cook so ordered Sunday roast for all the family beef, chicken, pork and lamb dinners was more than enough to feed all of us the kids and adults enjoyed every bit of it was a nice treat not to cook on Sunday highly recommended

We ordered this morning at 8.30am through Deliveroo and expected Delivery was 9.25, after calling twice from 9.40 and being told it was on its way on both occasions the food finally turned up at 10.10. When we opened it up the food was greasy eggs like rubber and just plain rubbish, don’t waste choir good money on this rubbish go somewhere else

Rude, disinterested and unhelpful staff. Waitress was shouting at the young guy about to cook my breakfast, "Make sure you get the egg right this time. You're flipping useless". Another time, mushrooms left off the order and beans and tomatoes cold. Coffee and toast served after I'd finished the meal. Shame. It was once a friendly welcoming place.

Beautifully cooked, I had the Granny Mac breakfast, everything was perfect, best fried bread ever. Highly recommend

Ordered a take away, took about an hour to arrive and when it did the chips were stale cold and soggy and the panini was squished up cold and dry. Had one experience prior to this where we’d been waiting hours and when I called they just said “I don’t know where your order is if it’s not here then it must be with the driver” well the driver must have eaten it because it never arrived!

Insanely long delivery, constantly lying about it being right around the corner several times over 2 hours.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Abusive staff who shouted at me when I informed them they had given me a pork sausage instead of a vegetarian one. Absolutely no respect for their customers, disgusting foul language and attitude, food was awful

This is an excellent classic greasy spoon style cafe, where the staff are always really friendly and helpful. I usually have their cooked breakfast. It is excellent value, with generous portions. The fried eggs are cooked just right (nice and runny yolks), the bacon is nice and thick, there's slices of fried potatoes, and you get white pudding as well as black pudding with the breakfast. You also have a choice of fried bread instead of toast too. The coffee is also really good. I've had the cooked breakfast numerous times and it's been great each time. My vegetarian friends say the veggie breakfast is excellent too. Ever since that sneering Walesonline article I've been making sure I visit regularly to support them. They're a really great cafe.

Go for breakfast most fridays, lovely staff, most times the food us spot on, although sometimes if its busy mistakes creep in. Good black pudding, not so keen on the white pudding, bit dense.

So ive had a few takeaway from here, and ive never had a problem with them, the homemade cakes they do are really nice would recommend them, amazing if you a nice breakfast roll, (sausage, bacon, egg) whatever they are still pretty good

Granny Macs feels like a canteen for a motor parts shop, which is basically what it is. Service is poor, dirty dishes just left on pretty much all the tables,large pile of delivery bags dumped in the corner, instant coffee, food ok but pretty expensive. The cafe definitely feels like an afterthought. Really disappointing.

Ordered the halloumi burger and chicken and bacon salad. The order, through deliveroo, was confirmed at 1pm, the food arrived at 2.48pm. 10 minute drive from my house. The food was cold. The burger had only sauce in it (not the lettuce, onion, tomato from the menu) no coleslaw. Very disappointing.

Really lovely, personable experience. I had lasagne and it came with salad, homemade coleslaw and garlic bread (it would also come with chips but that was too much for me). It was so nice to have a delicious homecooked meal that I didn't have to actually cook myself! I would definitely recommend.

Wow what can I say this place is amazing. I felt like I was back home White pudding home made no less,fried spuds, brown bread and just when you think it can't get any better rack shandy and club orange in the fridge.Hands down the best breakfast and the best welcome I have had in Cardiff bar none.

Had 30min to spare so popped into Granny Mac's on City Road, Cardiff for a cuppa. The place looked very clean and inviting so decided to have a regular breakfast. Was not deisappointed. The food was freshly cooked, tasty and not at all greasy. The service was prompt, cheery and attentive without being intrusive. Great value for money and will definitely be going back.

Eaten in here twice now, both times were great. Nice staff, customer area well kept, fair prices and very good food. As good a cheese and mushroom omelette, chips and salad as I've had anywhere - yum!

Me and the lads grab our breakfast from here every Friday when working local. grubs lovely, people are lovely plus they feed the homeless at Xmas can’t fault them!

I've ordered from Granny Mac's a fair few times, usually from justeat. Always been delivered super fast, warm and perfectly fine food. Not sure exactly what others are expecting? I usually go for a breakfast which has extremely generous portions and is just proper good...

Been going here for about 10 years, absolutely love the place... The staff are always lovely and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable! For the price the food has always been pretty damn good!

I've just tasted the QUEEN OF ALL CUPCAKES!! 🍰😍 Fancied something sweet so popped in for a quick sugar fix on the go and now I'm hooked! Didnt want to eat them they looked so pretty 💖 Still managed to scoff 2 on the way home 😂(there WAS 4 in the box🙈😋) cheeky layer of jam in the middle 😉 will be bringing the girls here for these on our next coffee date 💯

I don’t normally leave reviews but I just read an article about it being the worst reviewed place in Cardiff? The place itself is a great student hang out, with a cute little marque in the back. it’s cheap as hell for what you’re getting....

Used to live around the corner, now further away but order via delivery apps, never let down by the breakfasts.

The food here is not good. The main waiting time is WAY too long. I went and ordered a breakfast sandwich, and there were only 2 other people before me. I was waiting over 45 minutes for a sandwich. 45 MINUTES! I was in a rush so never had time to cook my own breakfast so thought I'd get a quick sandwich on my way to my destination but that didn't work out. I had to change my review based on my last 5 experiences and they were all terrible. From not giving what was ordered to food being overcooked or reheated/way too greasy.

1st visit today for our preordered Sunday Roast lamb dinners with their friendly helpful staff.. we were not disappointed as full to the brim from large plates packed high with loads of delicious fresh veg, all the trimmings, tasty meat & gravy. Unfotunately leaving no room for the special offer dessert (£10 for roast dinner and dessert) but we will be sure to return to try this & other meals in the future.

Food tasted good when it was placed in my home microwave. Sadly it had to be placed into my microwave because who ever was my delivery driver decided to do the tour de France before coming to my home. Nothing better than cold cooked produce.

After ordering and uber delivering wrong place I rang the cafe and they dealt with it amazingly! They got me a new order out ASAP and even give me a treat as an apology which I found absolutely sweet as it wasn't there fault. The lady was very kind definitely order again ( food was lovely )

Ordered via Deliveroo food was warm when arrived but not hot. Ordered breakfasts it was very greasy to the point there was grease marks on my counter when I picked the box up. Probably wouldn’t go back based on this.

This place was dreadful. There's a global viral pandemic. Not one member of staff wearing a face mask. The waitress if you can call her that was extremely undertrained. She took our order then clearly forgot about it. After about 15 minutes waiting for our cup of tea, let alone our breakfast I had to ask someone else for it. The cutlery was dirty. The Granny Mac Breakfast or whatever it was called was hot but clearly made from the cheapest products available from the cash and carry. The table layout was bizarre. I'm not sure if it was a gesture towards social distancing but if it was it failed because it means anyone walking in has to walk right by your table. It was a truly dreadful dining experience. It was my son's suggestion to go there because he said it used to be really good when he lived close to it. After less than a quarter of our way into the good he apologised for suggesting the place and he said it would be the last time he went there. Absolutely awful.

Stunning breakfast well worth a visit friendly staff

Ordered a roast dinner and apple pie with custard. Not only did I lick the plate but I am happily in a food coma. Thankyou for the best dinner. Restored my faith in takeout

I ordered my food at 10:00 and it took literally hours to arrive. 2.5 hours! When I called, the staff were rude and almost abusive. There was no apology and they were incapable of telling when my food would arrive. When it did, it was cold and rubbery. The sausages were revolting and cheap. Overpriced trash and appalling service. I hope this place goes under.

Absolutely shocking!! Payed for food online at 13.10 Monday afternoon, should have been delivered at 14.05,it wasn't. Called about 14.25 and asked where it was, told its on its way, it wasn't. It is now 16.25 and food still hasn't been delivered. Restaurant has now closed for the day as it says so online. So Granny Macs took my money but never delivered our food. Had to place another order with another restaurant costing me more money. This was supposed to be a treat for my stepson.Stay away from these thieves Paul

Food took over 1.5 hours to come from the point of ordering. We called the restaurant to ask where it was and they tried blaming the driver saying it was sent out 10 minutes ago, 30 mins after the phone call the food turns up . We asked the driver why the long wait and he stated he has only just picked it up ( the cafe is two mins away by car) looking at reviews (on here and google) lots of people have said the same thing. I wouldn’t bother ordering again

Delivery was an hour late and food was missing. The food was wet, cold and gross and overall poor quality.

Waited 2 hours for delivery, only for it to arrive missing items and cold and soggy. Ordered poached eggs on toast, only it's not toast, its just soggy bread that is badly buttered. Very disappointed.

Breakfast was served to me and my wife nice and hot and cooked fresh.being a lorry driver I eat in many cafes this is one of the best, up there with the black and white cafe on penrith road GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY and a full belly.🤪😃😙

Absolutely amazing food. I have only the best things to say about Granny macs. The food is beautifully made, fresh very tasty and I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a great meal at affordable prices. The meal arrives hot and the staff at granny macs are really helpful, friendly and extremely friendly. I have ordered from granny macs and wouldn't go anywhere else. To sum it up in one word. Food was on time, burger was really good, onion ring and french fries ok but garlic bread was one of the most disgusting things I've ever tried. Would oderd again but only burgers.

No se pudo rastrear a través de Uber ya que usan sus propios repartidores, pero aún así llegó a la hora estimada de llegada y fue comida caliente, buena presentación. La envoltura estaba completamente intacta y mis extras estaban incluidos en el soporte de comida de poliestireno (¡¿cómo diablos se llaman?!) El pastel no se había movido y la crema estaba en su bote pequeño. El tamaño de la porción era en realidad más grande de lo que esperaba, por lo que fue realmente abundante, y Dios mío, estaba delicioso.Definitivamente regresaré por más y espero probar algunos de sus otros pasteles: ¡obtienes una losa enorme por lo que pagas honestamente! El pastel de zanahoria estaba húmedo y lleno de sabor. Espero que esta revisión ayude a otros y anime a más pedidos porque realmente tuve un gran servicio y realmente me encantó la comida. Ordered food never arrived, and they just close so I can't call or do anything, and the worst deliveroo confirm the reception. I think the minimum should be give me back my money.

Last time a place an order they sent me the wrong food. I complained here I a kind lady phoned me later to apologise and send me a new breakfast. I wasn't hungry anymore so I refused and she offered to make up for me next time. I have just placed a new one.. I will come up with an update later.

Phone lines are horrendous!! Order placed at 10am, delivery estimate time was 1120 - nothing received and unable to get hold of the Caffè. Never again

Absolutely disgusting service on deliverys twice I was told the orders was jest packed and was leaving One hour apart phone calls. 2 hours and 40 minutes later got through to the shop to be told my order had left 10 minutes ago. so asked for a refund as payed with card staff were polite and agreed to this and thay would inform the driver call ends. strate away I leave to go get breakfast!!!! the driver pulls up I'm thinking ok yes will not have to go out now as its here lol, only for the drive to drive off with a stere and the food but no refund as thay have marked the order as complete???? and delivered??????🤯🤯 it can take up to 7 days now as I pmsl. Honesty is the best policy I'm not paying to be lied to. I would have happily waited if the shop is bissy and i was informed but but to processes the order after agreed refund is wrong and bad business practices. I well never eat or order from this establishment agen🤬🤬🤯🤯

The delivery service from Granny Mac's is appalling. My order was over an hour late with no communication or apology from the "restaurant". When I called, the staff were rude and offensive. I went to Granny Mac's for Sunday lunch the food was excellent it was just as if I had cooked it myself at home. Portions were great far too much for me to eat on my own.

Delivery never turned up. Don't answer phone. Crap. Think with distanced inside dining they'd care more about delivery.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Order was late being delivered, stone cold and not even fit to give to a pig. Over 35 calls trying to get hold of them but they had taken phone off the hook. The chicken burger was not even a burger!!! Took the food back, they told us to contact just eat for a refund. Just eat not interested until I emailed the CEO, who has not surprisingly left the company. How Granny Macs has a 4 star food rating, I do not know. Disgusting food and service. This place should be shut down. Avoid at all costs.

Waiting nearly an hour and a half on delivery, burger/panini were completely cold. The BURGER isnt even in a proper burger bap, the £1.50 side of curry has about 4 ounces of sauce in it! Chips are soggy and wet from sitting in packaging. Salad is obv not fresh. I've never left a review before, but its shocking.

Rang 3 times and the lady on the phone sounded like she had no idea what was going on and just kept saying “well it’s not here so it must have left”. Asked for a refund and she said to do it online where we ordered it which we couldn’t do because they had ticked it off as delivered. No help at all. Horrendous service. Avoid avoid avoid!
