Was at Gateshead College for a meeting & popped into Greenhouse for lunch. Got a fabulous spiced lentil takeaway soup, complete with warm crusty roll, butter, knife and spoon all for £2.50. The soup portion size was excellent value. It was piping hot and super tasty & the warm roll was a fabulous touch, well done. More than I expected for a takeaway soup option. Highly recommend it. 🙂

Went today to the restaurant and had to pay 2.7 pounds for parking. Breakfast menu was very limited. it is more of a cafe rather than a restaurant. Everything was nice and clean. modern style. but it seems the restaurant is very simple now.

Had breakfast here last week and it was amazing!! The eggs benedict is honestly the best I have ever tasted and I will happily pay to have it again. Well done to the chef :)

Been here about 10 times during lunch hours, tried a variety of foods, from soup to chicken pittas. The chef, possibly the most unhelpful waste of space I've ever spoken to, wouldn't knock up a sandwich even though they had the ingredients there. The food is beyond bland, never had anything so consistently crap in my entire life, considering the quality it's majorly over priced... Subsidised too 😓. Just go to greggs, their sandwiches are MUCH better quality... And that's greggs ffs.

I had been to the Greenhouse Brasseries for a meal with my family and the service was first rate, the servers keen, the food was excellent and the prices were really reasonable; because of this we booked them as our wedding caterers. The food again was really good and the staff were all very professional. The head chef Michael Beveridge was a life saver throughout the wedding and provided outstanding service and advise on all aspects of our day (even advise about where to hire chairs and suits from). Michael's expertise is obviously based around food and catering however he shows a real passion about customer service and people. I cannot recommend the Greenhouse Brasseries enough.

I was very impressed with everything, the price, the food, the decor and the service. The food was all expertly cooked and the staff were most attentive. It is part of Gateshead College and I wish all the young people connected with the restaurant good luck for their futures. If that lunch was anything to go by they will have nor problem succeeding

I was invited to a lunch time meal at the Greenhouse Brasserie for an ex-work colleague who was retiring. I was very impressed at the food quality and price. The food was freshly cooked so there was a little wait after ordering, but not a problem. Service was excellent. Will go back again when next in Gateshead.

If anyone is looking for a venue for a special celebration I can highly recommend The Greenhouse Brasserie. I held my 40th birthday here and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. They took care of everything from the bespoke menu to the room decor all of which were delivered to a high standard. The friendly staff were very attentive throughout and many of my guests commented on the delicious food and stylish venue. It was a perfect night and I really couldn’t fault anything.

We chose the Greenhouse Brasserie for our staff Christmas party and weren't disappointed! The Brasserie itself has a fantastic outlook with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The room was laid out beautifully for us and felt very festive and Christmassy. The staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful before the event, and polite and attentive throughout the event. The menu choice was great considering we were a large party and the price per head was very competitive. Our staff thought the food was excellent so we will definitely be going back again!

We booked the brasserie for our daughter's 30th birthday party, after we had had some excellent lunches there, and had been particularly impressed by mike's enthusiasm and professionalism, and his "nothing was a problem" attitude. We were delighted at how the evening went, with 60 guests just about the right number for the venue, and Denise and the rest of the staff were excellent. The buffet was spot on and a good night was had by all. If you're in the area I recommend you pop in for lunch or just a coffee, you'll be we'll looked after. Please note it is only open during the day, weekdays only, although obviously evening functions can be booked. Prices are refreshingly reasonable too. All in all, a little bit of a hidden treasure.

We had a Christmas Lunch here with a largish group of people and, overall, it was pretty good. Some of the food needed a little more seasoning and flavour but it's not a huge criticism. Definitely need a return visit to check out the restaurant at a more 'normal' time. All our meals were served together and they were all hot. Portions were generous and the sticky toffee pudding was great! The staff were delightful, really helpful and friendly and made the occasion very relaxed and enjoyable.

I had been to the Greenhouse Brasserie earlier in the year and enjoyed it, hence the return visit for Friday lunch. You cannot deny that the prices are attractive and the menu attractive. That is if they hadn't told us that there was no chicken which was an ingredient in half the dishes. I therefore reluctantly settled for a ham and mushroom omelette with potato wedges and a side salad. Added to the mysterious shortage of chicken, there was no (bottled) lager either. Just how can a public restaurant be so lax at stock control? So we had a pot of tea instead. My omelette was an attempt at what looked like a soufflé omelette and had the consistency of a dry nylon pan scourer, the mushrooms were black and dry, and the ham tasted of, well, not ham. The wedges had a peculiar coating the flavour of which repeated on me for the rest of the day and the tomatoes in the side salad were the foulest unripe ones I have tasted in many a year. I left half the meal and it was cleared away without remark by the waitress. The pots of tea were weak even after standing for ten minutes and would in no way stretch to two cups. The overall experience was disappointing to say the least. Six months ago I would have recommended the Brasserie, but not now.

This place was quiet when we went for breakfast at around 10am, with only two other people in the place. But it deserves to be busier. I had eggs florentine with a pot of tea for just £4.95. Other options were available for the same £4.95 deal including a three-egg breakfast omlette with bacon, sausage and mushrooms. A large glass of cranberry juice to wash it down was a very reasonable £1.50. While the space is never going to win any design awards, it is pleasant and airy. All in all, a good choice for a cheap but well cooked breakfast or lunch.

What a waste of money, I found the menu very limited. I have an intolerance to diary products and dont eat meat. Was given an empty plate and expected to fill my plate with brussels, potatoes and parsnip. Total disgrace... never been back since.

Based on good trip advisor reviews, we booked a table for breakfast at Greenhouse Brasserie, rather than go to the hotel we had been staying in.At first, as we don't know the area, we weren't quite sure where we were going and struggled to find a parking space. However after, we found there was a multi-story car park behind the restaurant and a large car park just down the road (towards the quay). The brassiere’s decoration is lovely, modern and still comfortable. The choice for breakfast was good, as was the reasonable pricing! I was very impressed with my Egg Florentine, as was the rest of the party with their choices.Staff were friendly and I would definitely return.

I organised a champagne reception and nibbles buffet prior to going on a River Tyne cruise for my 40th here and it was excellent! Just the right size for 60 guests and at approximately £10 per head it was very good value. The staff were polite and friendly and guests were greeted with a glass of champagne on arrival. I'd recommend this venue for for a cosy reception close to Gateshead and Newcastle. Very close to the Baltic car park where it is £5 for the evening. Everyone complemented the buffet - I onky wished I'd booked it for the whole evening.

A great place for lunch in modern surroundings. We had the 30 express lunch menu which was nicely presented and only £4.95 for a proper meal and good service too. It's tucked away on the modern Baltic Campus just 5 mins walk from the Baltic Gallery and the Sage. You can see the modern Gateshead College building on the hill when you are crossing the Gateshead Millennium Bridge from Newcastle Quayside. You can walk there from Newcastle city centre in 20 minutes or catch the Q1 bus to the door.

I visit this restaurant, usually for lunch as it's near my office, but I have been for dinner a few times. The atmosphere's great, the food is very tasty and well presented, it's a bit on the expensive side but still great value as you get what you pay for. The menu is limited but changes regluarly, unfortunately they're not very good at keeping their website up to date so if you're a fussy eater, it might be worth ringing up to check what they have on the menu that week.

I booked the Greenhouse Brasserie for Easter Lunch and as a treat for my Father. In a sense it was a double treat in that the restaurant is not usually open for Sunday lunch. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by a very professional restaurant manager, shown to our table and had the menu explained and drinks ordered. The staff were polished, efficient and genuine in their approach to customer service. The set menu - three courses for £14.95 excl drinks - was excellent value and seasonal. The wine list was not extensive but just right and fairly priced.I am always the first to spot something lacking in either customer service or quality of food but, pleasingly, I could find no fault. The atmosphere was gently busy with a mix of couples, families and small groups. The Brasserie was very well presented and decorated with clean lines and of course lovely white linen and glassware. This really is an excellent place, not just for the well chosen local produce and well considered menu, but very importantly because the restaurant is staffed with the top catering graduates from Gateshead College and who have to apply for the limited number of apprenticeships at the Brasserie. I asked further about this scheme and discovered that some of the apprenticeships from the previous year have already gone on to five star restaurants in the region. It is really pleasing to have new ventures such as this on the Gateshead side of the Tyne, as previously they had centred on Newcastle Quayside only and it is only minutes away from The Sage and The Baltic and the Millenium Bridge.I have since learned that the restaurant will be open for Sunday Lunch from 8th May and would urge that you try it out, albeit could mean that I may not get a table next time I'm back up North but will take that risk if it means more people try this place. Enjoy!

Two of us visited the Brasserie on the evening of Thursday 31st March 2011, We were greeted very pleasantly and shown to our prebooked table. We weren't having a bottle of wine that evening but were immediately offered free tap water and advised wine was available by the glass. Menus were presented and we were advised of the specials board, very reasonably priced 2 or 3 courses. We chose from the main menu. Obviously food is a personal choice but there was a wide enough, but not overwhelming choice. Both of our meals were imaginate in conception, very well presented and very enjoyable. The very charming waiting staff were prompt in asking if all was well and did we require anything else. Our empty plates were quickly cleared and again the staff engaged in pleasant light conversation, friendly but not intrusive. The "puds" were delicious and accompanied by homemade icecream which was gorgeous. The whole restaurant had a good ambiance with backgroud music that wasn't intrusive. All in all a very pleasant evening for under £40, delighted there was no added service charge as we prefer to tip.The lunch time menu looked to be excellent value so we'll try that next time

Wow, wow and wow again!!!I recently attended an event at Gateshead College which included a free buffet lunch in the Greenhouse Brasserie. However, this was no ordinary ‘free lunch’, oh no, myself and the other guests were treated to a splendid spread and I was able to sample some of thee best buffet food I have EVER tasted in my whole life. Now this is close to a quarter of a century, I am no newbie to the buffet experience: I had to hand my plate to the immaculately dressed waitress to avoid a 3rd helping. We’re not talking cold chicken drum sticks or batter prawns on skewers; we had cooked to perfection salmon fillets, salad with a dressing on that made my mouth water in ways usually only high in carbs Esq. food can muster. Paired with homemade seasoned wedges, delectable dips and extraordinary meat and vegetable parcels, whose contents would make even the big H Blumenthal ooze with pleasure. I was blown away, to say the very least and unbeknown to my boyfriend, will be booking a table there for my birthday next month, for him to treat me to, what a prince. This restaurant is a 5 minute walk from the Quayside, the staff couldn't have been more professional if they tried and the decor is stunning.

I had read about the Greenhouse Brasserie opening and was curious to try it out. It's attached to Gateshead College's main Baltic Campus but is headed up by a professional chef. As I was eating over lunchtime I needed to get back to the office I chose from the Express menu which was a choice of 5 or 6 dishes all under £5. My Brasserie Burger with goats cheese was really tasty, oozing with flavour and not a drip of fat. It came with potato wedges which were freshly made and not the frozen type you might get when eating out for under a fiver. My colleague had the chicken fajita and she also had no complaints on the food. The food was served quickly and we were there for about an hour...with at least 20 minutes of that being due to us not being able to make a decision on which dish to get. I would definately go back and may even try out the evening menu or take a long lunch and go for a full three courses...the pannacotta was very tempting!
